The Ocean Tried To Claim Another Wedding Ring, Ocean City NJ

I received an email early yesterday morning, from K asking about my fees to look for a lost wedding ring at the shore. I replied saying that I don’t have a fee. We sent emails back & forth getting all of the details. The only issue was I would be able to make it down till Friday, and today is Tuesday.

K’s husband R was playing in the ocean with their son in waist-deep water at high tide. As R was throwing his son into a wave, his wedding ring of 11 years went flying into the surf. K posted the incident on Facebook. One of her friends recommended me as I had found his lost ring before.

The best time to search for this ring would be at low tide, which is 11pm tonight. After some adjusting of my schedule, I traveled to Ocean City for the search on 9th st.

At 7:45 the beach was still pretty crowded. I called R and told him that I was there. He said he would come up and show me where the loss occurred. I searched for a while finding just a few coins. After a while, R approached me. I was on the wrong beach. They had entered at 9th street and went right. They were swimming at the 10th Street Life Guard stand.

R gave me the details and the general area. I did a grid pattern and came up with just a few coins. I expanded the search area, and on my 1st pass of the extended area, I had R’s ring in my scoop.

The happiness on R’s face was awesome. I got a firm handshake followed by a “bro” hug. He said he thought that this search was not going to find his ring. He had thought that it was gone forever. I said that you should probably call your wife. He said he would wait to see her reaction in person.

As we were leaving the beach K called asking about our progress. R told a white lie and said that we were still looking. When we got back to my truck, R paid for my parking, Thank You!! He asked for several business cards to spread the word. I found out that R is a 1st responder in PA, he is a police officer. I love helping other 1st responders!!

Second platinum ring of the the night returned from mayflower beach in Dennis MA

This one is very similar to the last post with the exception that Nate is a full time cape resident and he was throwing a football with his son…. Nate was down at mayflower beach with his son on Tuesday evening around 7pm they were throwing a football between the #2&#3 lifeguard stands in waist deep water, Nate went to catch the ball his son threw and the ball hit his hand just right that it knocked the ring right off of his finger. He contacted Eleanor from J&E metal detectors to see if he could rent a detector to try to find the ring but she had already rented her under water machine to Andre from my previous post. I called her yesterday to ask a question and she gave me Nate and andres phone number to see if I could help them out. I managed to get to Andre first which took all of 8 minutes then I beat Nate to mayflower to get the search going but had no luck at first, then Nate arrived and we narrowed the search area down to an area that was about 30x30ft but still no ring I kept thinking about the tide in cape cod bay which comes in approximately 6” 15 minutes which put us out a bit too far so we went in another 10 ft and boom a solid signal 2” down, one scoop later and there was Nate’s gigantic ring that I think most people could wear as a bracelet. We then exited the water and walked to the group of people who Nate left his phone with talked with them for a few minutes and learned about a ring on of them had lost on a Martha’s Vineyard beach 4 years earlier and plans will be made to search for that soon.

I received a call early in the morning from Atom who had lost 2 rings in the dry sand and asked if I could help search for it?
I said yes and can be there in 20 min.

We met at the local beach where Atom showed me the scene of the lost rings.I asked him a few ring detective questions then began my search…In less than a few minutes I hear a ring in my headphones and told Atom I have a good signal. He was just 5’ away watching as I took 1 scoop then out popped 2 rings.A very precious yet sentimental James Avery Silver & a Gold/Platinum wedding band.Atom and his son were relieved but now they can once again enjoy the fun in the sun while on vacation in San Diego.

Platinum band returned to couple from chest deep water at Dennis port beach

andre and his family rented a small cottage on the water in Dennis port in between sea street beach and Glendon beach. While out playing catch with his daughters’  yesterday andres ring was knocked off his finger while catching the ball one of his daughters had thrown, he managed to rent a detector from Eleanor of J&E metal detectors and spent most of today looking through the rough waters of the small beach it came off in. He managed to find a good amount of trash but not his platinum ring, I called Eleanor to ask a question and she gave me andres number as well as a local man named Nate who also lost a platinum ring yesterday (I’ll get to that in the next blog post) I called and left a message with Andre who called me back 15 minutes later and gave me directions to him. Upon my arrival he gave me an approximate location to search, 2 targets and 8minutes later his ring was in my scoop and he was happy.

we talked for a few minutes afterwards and then I was off to find Nate’s ring which was a bit more time consuming but successful

Lost Mt. Saint Marys College Class Ring On Lewes Beach Delaware Found

On 07/19/18, I received a phone call from Michael requesting my help in locating his lost Mt. Saint Marys Class ring on Lewes Beach. Michael said that he had decided to go for a swim and that he had taken his ring off of his finger, placed it inside of his baseball cap which he laid on the sand. Michael said that when he was done swimming he picked up his baseball cap and started to put it on his head forgetting that his ring was inside. Michael said that the ring fell out of his cap into the sand and that he was unable to locate it. I responded to Lewes Beach and Michael showed me the area where he had lost his ring which he had marked. I began my search at the marker that nearest to the water and as soon as I placed my coil to the sand I received a very loud tone in my headset. I took out one scoop of sand and there was Michaels ring.

Lost White Gold/Diamond Ring On Rehoboth Beach Found

On 07/16/18, I received a phone call as well as a email from Donna regarding the loss of her white gold wedding ring with diamonds that had been lost on Rehoboth Beach. Donna said that she and her husband had been sitting on the beach from 2:00 pm until about 5:15 pm and that when they got up to leave she noticed that her wedding ring was not on her finger. Donna said that her husband could show me the area of the beach where they had been sitting. I then contacted Donnas husband by his cell phone and he agreed to meet me at the beach to show me the area where he and his wife believed that the ring had been lost. Donnas husband told me that he had raked the sand in the area where they felt that the ring had been lost and that he was unable to locate the ring. Upon arriving at Rehoboth Beach, I began a search of the raked area for the lost ring and as I got to the end of the search area I was able to locate and recover Donnas lost ring.

How To Find A Lost Ring

People become attached to things…like jewelry…and especially engagement and wedding rings. I got a tentative call from a sheriff’s deputy in a nearby county. (He ) His fiancee had lost her engagement ring. I’m thinking “OK, it happens.” He described what they were doing when she lost it — taking the groceries from the car to the house — and he knew exactly the path she had walked when taking in the groceries.

When he said he had searched the “she-lost-it-in-this-area” the entire day, but had no luck in finding the ring, it had me wondering why. I drove to their house and we mapped out the area to search. Thankfully, because it was a fairly well-defined area, I was able to find the ring quickly and return it. It turned out that the ring had worked its way down through the grass and was sitting on the soil, so it was maybe 3 inches down — definitely not visible.

Breaking out the detector allowed me to find it quickly, and it was in exactly the location he said. Glad to be able to help out!

10K Man’s Wedding Band Lost at Ocean Isle Beach NC, Found and Returned

This adventure started when Daniel called me saying he found me through The Ring Finders’ website and wanted to know if I could help. He stated he had lost his wedding band and was pretty sure he lost it on the beach. He and his brother-in-law had been throwing a football, he said he had also been sitting in the water with his hands in the sand, and at one point, he had ventured out into chest deep water. So, I’m thinking this is going to be a tough search, but I love a challenge and told him I’d be there in about 35 minutes. He gave me the address of the rental house, and I was on my way.

We met at the house and walked a block or so to the beach. On the way over, he explained that his family had set up in front of the 5th house from the beach access and in the dry sand. He also pointed out the area, in the wet sand, where he had been throwing the football. As luck would have it, there were numerous families set up in the dry sand exactly where I needed to search. I did a grid search in the areas I could with no luck. I then moved out into the wet sand, and in the water but was fighting the incoming tide. I had a great signal in the water but Mother Nature can be cruel sometimes, and the waves were pitching me around like a rag doll. After getting knocked off the signal 4 times, I decided to call it and come back later, closer to low tide. I told Daniel what my plans were and I’d be back around 10:45 p.m. I ended up getting back there close to 8:30 p.m. and started an east/west grid line from the 5th house back towards the beach access going from the dry sand to the water. After an hour plus I got a pretty good signal and dug it. It was pitch black, and even with my headlamp I couldn’t see anything in the sand I had spread out with my foot. I was spreading the sand with my hand when I hit the ring. BAM!!! I had his gold ring in my hand. I walked back to the house and surprised Daniel and Kelsey, who were both shocked the ring had been found. I was talking to Kelsey, and she told me that she knew the ring was gone forever.

Daniel told me that they had just celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary in June, so now their ring story can continue. Their smiles say it all!

Wedding ring recovered in rolling waves at Pere Marquette Park, Lake Michigan

After recovering a ring earlier that evening, I got a call from Jen M. about her husband, Mark M., loosing his wedding ring at Pere Marquette Park in Lake Michigan. The area where it was lost was a cove where people park their boats and swim. They were in about 4 to 5 feet of water when Mark’s ring came off. My Ring Finder partner, Dave Boyer, and I made arrangements to meet Jen at 8am in the morning, I was concerned that another Detector would find it before we got there.

The day was cool and dark and dreary it stormed but we were never weary on our 45 mile trip to the lake. We met Jen, she showed us the area and in the rain we started our search. The waves were rolling about a foot which made detecting a little rough trying to keep our balance. I got a good signal out about waist level which turned out to be an old can top. Moving out deeper about up to my neck with the rolling waves I got a great signal and put my scoop into the sandy bottom several times and about the fourth scoop I saw the white gold wedding band at the bottom of my scoop. We walked up to the beach and Jen was in her car out of the rain. I held up the ring and Jen got out of her car and asked if she could give me a hug, so in my wet clothes we hugged and she was one happy lady. She immediately called her husband to tell him the good news. Another day of making someone happy, I love my job.

Saugatuck State Park, Michigan yields a proposal

My Ring Finder partner, Dave Boyer, received an email from Guillermo R. about a friend who lost a diamond pendant just after Osman K., her new fiance, proposed. They were deep in the woods of Saugatuck State Park up on an Oak tree lined trail. After his proposal Abby’s friend ran up to her and gave her a hug, at that time Abby dropped the pendant out of her hand. They searched a couple of hours through the leaves and the rotted undergrowth to no avail. That night they searched the internet and found TheRingFinders.

We met Abby and Osman at the park the next morning and made our way up and around the park paths to the spot of the proposal. We searched up and down the hill and finally after about 30 minutes I got a very faint signal on my Fisher F75 detector. I looked down and still didn’t see anything until I pushed some dirt away and I saw a little glimmer of gold . There it was, Abby and Osman smiled in amazement and Dave couldn’t believe it was such a small item we were searching for. We used our Garret (carrot) pin pointer and it would not register.

Abby and Osman are students at Hope college studying special education for the Blind. We said our good byes and wished them well. By The Way, she did say “YES” to his proposal.
