I got a text from a detecting friend, Dave Boyer, about a ring that was lost in Duck lake. This is a home we had visited before looking for a sister in law’s lost wedding ring. Tim H. and myself were driving to a seeded hunt put on by the Michigan Metal Detectors group when I got Dave’s text. After a successful and fun afternoon with the MMD, we headed back home but stopped on the way to White lake. When we drove up to the house Ron H. was there to meet us. Ron indicated that he had done some yard work in the front yard then went to the back of the house to reset his pump in the water. He uses the water form the lake to water his lawn thus having a pump in the lake just off his dock area. Ron let Tim use his waders and I had mine with me and we proceeded out in the water in about 2 to 3 feet deep. I moved the long hose and the pump head to the side about 5 feet so the metal would not interfere with our search. I got a signal near the shore and dug up a dime then walked out deeper where Ron had been re-positioning the pump and got a good signal, after I had Tim verify that it could be gold, I dug it up and in the top of the scoop was Ron’s gold wedding band. Needless to say he was thrilled to death.

Ron’s wife Flora, came out and was so happy because that was the ring that she gave him with their vows and didn’t want to buy him a new one.

Wedding band recovered in Denver, Colorado

Jacob was in the backyard playing with his dog when his carbide tungsten ring flew off his hand. Jacob, his wife and brother searched for the ring for several minutes but the ring was avoiding recovery. Doug, Jacob’s father, found my profile on The Ring Finders and called me. Within an hour I was at their house and heard the story of how the ring was lost and the potential location of it’s hiding spot. I ran over the area with one of my favorite detectors but evidently I just missed the ring. I then pulled out the good old reliable XLT/ Bigfoot coil combination and a few minutes later Jacob’s ring was back where it belonged, with Jacob.

Lost Car Key in the Sand – Found and Returned Oak Island NC

I got a call from Harrison on Saturday, May 20th around 6:15pm stating he had lost a key in the sand on Oak Island and asked if I could help find it. Unfortunately, I was out of town and couldn’t personally help, but assured him I’d find someone that could and would call him back.

I first called Matt Fry, TRF Myrtle Beach who didn’t answer. I then called my son-in-law Donnie, who has helped me with finds in the past and he didn’t answer either. By now I’m thinking this isn’t looking good. I called my daughter who told me Donnie would probably be home in a couple of hours. I called Harrison back and brought him up to speed on what was going on and again assured him that someone would be up there to help find his key. Matt called me back sounding sick saying that he couldn’t make it.

I sent Donnie a text with all the details including Harrison’s phone number and told him to contact Harrison and let me know. A little after 8 Donnie texted me back saying he just got the text but wasn’t able to contact Harrison but did leave him a voice mail. I contacted Harrison, told him Donnie was going to call him right back, got a hold of Donnie and told him to call Harrison again.

At 10:40 I got a text from Donnie saying it took him 45 seconds to find the key. Outstanding!! I later learned that the missing key was Harrison’s car key, and with no spare he had to leave it parked at the beach. Donnie had to pick Harrison up at a rental house, drive him to the beach area and then find the key.

Great job Donnie, thanks so much for helping out and finding/returning the lost key.

Yesterday was the first beautiful summer day we had in Vancouver, I just got off work and I was relaxing at home when the phone rang… The first words were ”are you the guy who finds rings”? I jumped into my car and headed to the beach and by the sounds of it, this search wouldn’t take long.

We met at the beach and we discuss the search, the young lady had circled the area where she believed the ring was lost. This helps a lot as it puts me in the correct location (hopefully) Chantelle went on to tell me that the ring was a gift from her late grandmother and she only had it for three years, you can imagine how heartbroken she was at the thought of never seeing it again.

After only a few minutes and one bobby pin that kept falling through my sand scoop, I saw her Grandmothers ring in my scope! I love my job because when you present the lost item to that person you get to see what it truly means to have a second chance to find what people thought was lost forever.

Lost & Found White Gold Mens Wedding Ring in Wimborne Horse Paddock

Stuart Cohen from Wimborne was gutted to find he had lost his wedding band in his horse paddock whilst ‘cleaning up his dogs business’. Unfortunately we didnt know quite where, so the search area was potentially large and I prepared myself for an extensive hunt.

The ring had particular value as that not only was it his wedding ring but the fact that it was bought in Las Vegas where he was married. We scratched our heads and came up with a search plan that worked almost immediately. Just a few yards from our start point, deep in the long grass the detector let out a huge whine as it passed over the ring.

Stu was very relieved and grateful to get the ring back and promised not only to make a donation to the Margret Green Animal Sanctuary but to also get the ring re-sized!

Mens White Gold Wedding Band Lost & Found On Studland Beach

Studland Beach in Dorset is a popular destination for holiday makers and day visitors just like Richard Meredith from Hampton Court, London.

As with many people visiting beaches, the combination of Sand Castle making, throwing Frisbees and sun tan oiled fingers- the risk of losing a ring is rife. We all know how hard it is to find anything dropped in the sand and the more you search the deeper it falls.

This is just what happened to Richard when he felt his ring slip off. The more he dug, the deeper it sank. He waited patiently for me to arrive but was reunited with his ring in a matter of seconds.

Richard kindly made a donation to the Margret Green Animal Charity.

White Gold Wedding Band Lost & Found on Swanage Beach

Visiting Swanage with her daughter for the day, Louisa Lombardo from Dorchester lost her wedding band whilst making sand castles on Swanage Beach. She has an anxious wait as I was still at work but was very quickly reunited with her ring a few hours later.
The ring was dropped next to an Ice Cream hut which is a popular hunting ground for the Coin Shooting metal detectorists who would have had a very nice surprise should they have got there first.
Louisa very kindly made a donation to the Margret Green Animal Sanctuary.

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Kaneohe Sandbar…FOUND!!!

This ring find began on 31 January 2017 when I received a ring finders email from Irena who resides in Sherman Oaks California that while enjoying a day on the Kaneohe Sand Bar her husband Arun’s wedding band fell off into 1-2 feet of water. They looked for a period of time but couldn’t find the ring. You need a boat to get to the Sand Bar however mine was getting serviced and it was going to take awhile as we waited for parts. Something you get used to here…waiting for everything. Irena asked a few contacts she had but nothing panned out. Then we were in for a spell of bad weather and high surf. The days and weeks went by then I finally got my boat back. Also luckily for me since I’d never been to the Sand Bar a gentleman named Marshall that purchased a sand scoop from us “All Island Treasure Detectors” while talking story told me he had been to the Sand Bar many times over the years and knew the navigation very well. Perfect timing just the man I need! We waited for good weather and an ideal tide to spend the most amount of time on the Sand Bar as possible. Finally on 14 April Marshall and I headed out. We used Irena’s Google Maps Pin Drop to anchor the boat and start our search area. The Sand Bar is a party location and is littered with pull tabs, bottle caps and other metallic party remnants. In addition to all that I found a Silver ring and assorted coins. It came time to depart and we started the boat for departure when I noticed the “no wake” buoy just off the Sand Bar. I remembered seeing that in some of Irena’s photos so when I got back home I asked Irena to send me as many photos she could with that buoy and other landmarks in the background. On 11 May Marshall & I got another opportunity weather and tide wise to return to the Sand Bar. This time we brought Irena’s pictures and did some cross fixes to the landmarks. As you can see in the blog pics Marshall duplicated the exact view Irena provided.

I laid my red nylon cord grid line down perpendicular to the shoreline at the point Irena would have exited their boat back in January. I proceeded to detect towards the area the three beach beauties appeared to be frolicking in. Marshall went the other direction and called over that he found a White Gold Band. It only said 14K on the inside so that wasn’t it. I found a few coins, pull tabs, a Gold Sunrise Shell Earring and a tiny Gold Ring with two Diamonds. Then the Excal screamed and I knew I was about to find something really nice. That tone I will never forget. One scoop down and there in my scoop was a beautiful White Gold Wedding Band. I looked skyward and said please God let this be it. The inscription initials and date were a perfect match. I put my scoop in the sand where I found the ring and went back to my boat to get my camera to take a few pics and to send one to Irena for verification.


She texted back, Yep!!! That’s it! The next day I confirmed mailing the ring back to California and Irena texted, ” Amazing, this whole thing is so surreal. I still can’t believe it’s found. Thank you!!” As you can see the ring is back on Arun’s finger. Aloha to Arun & Irena. A big Mahalo to Marshall for helping with the navigation and encouragement!

Lost Wedding Band at Aulani Disney Resort Ko Olina…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a voicemail from Steven who was on his Honeymoon from Los Angeles, California. While trying to entice his new bride Carolina into deeper water in the resort’s lagoon Steven’s Tungsten Wedding Band came off. Steven and his lovely wife tried to find it but as usual the sand consumed the ring and they were leaving the next day. It was late so I texted Steven that I was going to be at the Resort early the next morning and we could meet so he could show me whereabouts the ring came off. The area lined up nicely with shower stand and a tree. I went back and forth underwater from shallow to deep. The depth Steven remembered was up to his chin. After several shallow passes with no target I got a screaming tungsten tone. Surprisingly to me the ring was several scoops down into the sand already. As I went to the shower to rinse off along came Steven & Carolina…I told them I found a ring and it looked as Steven had described. Sure enough Steven confirmed it was his. Another Honeymoon ends on a happy note. Aloha to Steven & Carolina!

Lost ring in Lake Harris, Florida…..Found and Returned!

Dawn and her son, Tristen, were swimming at their favorite spot on Lake Harris and enjoying the cool water and digging clams. They would feel in the sand with their toes and when they found a clam they would dig it up and put it in their bucket. Now and then they would find old bottles and an assortment of junk. Some of the items were down right dangerous to be stepping on, especially in the water, and this made Dawn and Tristen tread very lightly. One of the clams was buried rather deeply in the sand and as Dawn tried to dig it up she actually felt her ring slip off of her finger. She frantically dug down into the sand trying to feel for it and after numerous failed attempts she gave up. This special ring was her son’s birthstone ring and Dawn had been wearing it for at least 8 years and now it was gone. Dawn’s heart was broken and she felt she would never see her ring again and that thought led her to do an internet search on “How to find a lost ring in the water”!
Dawn found one of my stories on theringfinders.com and sent me an email that morning. As she waited for my response she decided to just give me a call. I could tell by her voice how anxious she was to get her lost ring back, so I made arrangements to meet her later on that afternoon. If she was fairly sure of the exact location in the water and where she was standing when she lost her ring–then I told her that her lost ring was still there waiting to be found and that gave her some much needed HOPE!
Two hours later I met Dawn and Tristen at their special swimming location and as I waded into the cool water it was obvious why they loved this spot so much. The large cypress trees provided the perfect shade from the warm Florida sun and the sandy bottom felt so soft under my scuba boots. My first signal was the top of an old beer can and along with the aluminum target were various pieces of glass. Then my second signal was another piece of aluminum accompanied by more glass! I soon realized that this peaceful looking place could be very dangerous and I needed to be real careful. It took a total of maybe 10 minutes and there in my floating sifter, surrounded by pieces of glass and clam shells was Dawn’s beautiful ring! She was shocked that I had found it so soon but oh so thrilled to have her lost ring found.
