Lost Platinum & Diamonds Wedding Rings at Kalama Beach Kailua…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from Detlev who lives in Kailua. While his wife Dayna was enjoying some time at the beach earlier that day with some school children she took off her wedding rings and placed them in her towel. A short time later she grabbed her towel and in that moment the rings got flung into the powdery beach sand and disappeared. They searched frantically for several minutes but neither ring was found. A Google search found “The ring finders” and that’s when I received the call. Detlev said he could meet me at the beach park around 3:15PM and we could go down to he beach from there. A rain storm blew through the area so hopefully that kept the typical sand detectorists home for the day. As we arrived in the area the rings were lost you could see numerous hand raking marks in the sand. Only if it was that easy. Detlev pull out the diagram he and Dayna drew to show me where the rings were lost. I started a grid search while Detlev sat on a bench nearby. On my return leg I got a nice platinum tone and two scoops down was Dayna’s ring with the solitaire diamond. Now to find the Wedding band. I continued on but only found 3 cents. I asked Detlev if the other ring was supposed to be near where we found the other ring and he said, “No the diagram has it out front of this bench a ways.” As I continued on the grid search Detlev yelled out, “Joe the ring is right here” Detlev happened to glance down and it was exposed in the sand. We must have done that when we walked over to the bench. In any case both rings are now back on Dayna’s finger. Aloha to Detlev & Dayna!

Lost Ring Playing Volleyball .. Corona Delmar Beach, CA. .. Found

Marius contacted me, asking if I could help him find his Tungsten Carbide wedding ring. He was at Corona Delmar beach playing volleyball with his friends. He was still at the location when I arrived.
Marius did not feel the ring slip from his finger but he did know it was on when he started playing. When they stopped to take a break, he discovered his ring was missing.
I like this type of search because it was a fresh drop, defined location and large ring. He did play on both sides of the volleyball court but this should not take long to grid search.
After about an hour I started to lose my confidence. My head started to question whether Marius really gave me the correct information. I started a cross grid in the opposite direction and expanding 15 feet outside the court.
It only took about five or six passes before I got the strong signal I was looking for. After digging the signal, it turned out to be Marius’ wedding ring.
Another learning experience for me. I felt this was going to be fast and easy, ( wrong ). The ring was actually 15 feet outside the court very close to their beach chair and personal items.
Marius said he will never wear his ring while playing sports. He wasn’t looking forward to tell his wife how careless he had been.

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Kahala Hotel Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a 8PM call from David who was on his honeymoon in Hawaii with his lovely wife Lindsay and they both are from my home state of Pennsylvania. They had eloped that same day. So the ring wasn’t even on his finger 24 hours. He explained, while enjoying a day at the hotel beach David went for a swim. He barely got wet when his White Gold Wedding Band came off in chest deep water. He immediately called Lindsay who was tanning in a lounge chair to come help him find it. They got some swim goggles and tried desperately to find the ring but that wasn’t to be. I told David I wanted to take a shot tonight and that I was just on the hill above the hotel. We went down to the beach and entered the water. David took me to the spot he thought he was at and I started a grid search. Fairly sterile area with only some metal scrap pieces. There just wasn’t enough moon or ambient light to see and do a proper grid search so I asked David if we could try again the next day. They were checking out at noon so that would be a great opportunity. I met them at valet parking and we went back out to the spot. After a Florida State quarter and a dime I got a nice gold tone. The ring was thin and played with me a little bit before it would go in my scoop. But finally it emerged and I called over to David who was my grid marker…I got a ring come look and see if its yours. Sure enough perfect fit. David said Joe this is how memories are made. He’s right. Honeymoon saved and these two still have plenty of adventure time in Hawaii. Aloha to David & Lindsay.

Lost 14k Gold Diamond Wedding Band Beaumont Alberta Canada… Found.

I received a very distraught call last evening from Nuela as she was very distraught about having lost her wedding band.

She asked me if I could help her in locating her band which she had lost in the outside play area of the day care earlier that day where she works.

 I met up with Nuela today and she showed me the approximate area where she was with the kids, a roughly 60’ x 40’ area filled with wood chips and playground equipment Nuela was hoping her ring was in that area.

It took approximately 1 hour to locate her ring, located along the edge of the play area, As you can see the smile on Nuela’s face, she was very happy to have her ring back on her finger.

Thank you Nuela for allowing me to locate your lost ring.

Lost House Key .. Huntington Beach, CA. .. Found

Carol was taking care of her friend’s house and dogs while they were on vacation. After locking dead bolt lock on the door from the outside, she walked to her car parked on the street. That’s where she noticed only house key she had was missing from her key fob.
Carol’s mother, Debbie came to help her look for the key. After two frustrating hours they were unable to locate the single key. Most of the short walk to the car was cement except for about 40 feet of grass between the sidewalk and the street.
When they contacted me I was only a mile away. We met about 20 minutes after the call. After hearing Carol’s story, I planned to eliminate the grass area first using my normal metal detector. Then I would take my hand held pinpointer detector to search the small planters in the patio entry area.
A neighbor saw me with the metal detector and joined in on the search by visually searching the patio area. Bingo, the key had dropped into a planter and the neighbor was able to see it before I got out my pinpointer. The important thing was Carol had her key back so she could feed the dogs.

Lady’s White Gold Wedding Band Lost in the Sand – Found and Returned at Ocean Isle Beach, NC

I received a late night email from Kristina on May 2nd telling me she had lost her wedding band on the beach at Ocean Isle during spring break (Apr 12th). She said if I thought it was worth it she could email me a map with the exact spot and to let her know if I was interested in helping. It was after midnight when I responded telling her that it was always worth it to at least take a shot at looking. I also included some questions in my response like where on the beach, what day, etc.

When I woke up the next morning I checked my emails and I had her response to my questions and that she’d send me a map a little later that morning. I got her map around 9am that had a satellite view of the beach with a little red dot marking the spot she lost it so I hit the road. Got to the beach, found the vicinity of the red dot on the beach and started a north/south grid in the dry sand. I think it was the 5th line when I got a good solid hit, dug and shook a scoop of sand and there was her little gold wedding band bout a size 5-6. She had also given me an inscription on the inside of the ring which I confirmed and we had a match. I sent her an email from my phone with a picture saying “Bingo” and she immediately called me. I could tell by her voice she was overwhelmed about getting her ring back. Got her treasure in the mail and it’s expected to arrive by Friday.

Wanted to wait until today (Friday) to post this so I could get a picture with her big smile.

FITBIT Lost North Myrtle Beach – Found and Returned

I was out the other day doing a little metal detecting and not finding a whole lot until I came across a FITBIT laying in the sand. It had to be lost within the last hour so I hung around for a while hoping the owner would show back up. Later that night I posted it on Craigslist and after 4 days I didn’t get any response.

Fast forward to today when I contacted the FITBIT customer service department and found out that I can ship the FITBIT back to them, at their expense, and they can trace the serial number back to the original owner. So off it went and hopefully by this time next week the FITBIT will be back where it belongs.

Engagement Surprise .. Laguna Beach, CA. .. Using Metal Detector

Chelsey had called me with a strange request. Her brother, Arron was planning a special way to ask his girlfriend to marry him. He wanted to take her to dinner at the Montage Resort in south Laguna Beach, CA..  His plan was to walk on the beach after eating and to have me find a small treasure box next to them with my metal detector.
I wasn’t sure how we would accomplish this but I met Arron’s sister on the beach known as Treasure Island. We buried the box with the engagement ring. She marked the location with some small sticks. It was a beautiful location and it was about to be sunset.
Arron and Mandie walked out onto the beach while I was detecting near them. As They stood almost on top of the box, I approached them with my detector. I had the speaker mode on, so there was an audible signal they could hear.
When my detector sounded off, I looked at them, saying there is something big just under the surface. I asked them if they could retrieve it. Mandie looked confused, but Arron reached down to scoop up the box. I turned and walked away. He opened the box where a beautiful engagement ring was. Then he dropped to his knees presenting the ring to Mandie, asking her to marry him. We also had a photographer who was sitting on the beach. She recorded everything.
It was a fun to be a part of this special moment for Arron and Mandie.

Lost 18 K Diamond Ring found and returned in Dolton, Illinois

In Chicago I was contacted to search for a ring that was lost when she was throwing stones at amorous opossums in the back yard. It was a collapsible 18K ring with diamonds. Less than 30 minutes and I found it. I was using my XP Deus  and was surprised to see that it rang up at 78 using 18 kHz. It seems that 18K can come in very high.

Diamond Stud Earring Lost in Cemetery in Valencia, CA…Found and Returned.

I received a call from Arvin last night asking if I would be able to help find a lost diamond stud earring in a cemetery. I told him I would help him only after we went to the main office, and received permission to do the search. I did let him know ahead of time, that diamond stud earrings are one of the hardest pieces of jewelry to find, because they are made with such a small amount of metal. We agreed to meet today at about 3:00 PM.

When we met, Arvin’s wife Larraine explained that it was their daughter Lauren who had lost the earring. Lauren’s grandmother had given her those earrings, so there was a very strong sentimental value attached to the missing jewelry. Larraine, Lauren and I went to the office where they explained what had happened, and I said that I would only be there for that particular search and then leave, so the manager gave us the go ahead for the search. When Arvin took us to the area, he and Lauren showed me the boundaries, and explained that Lauren had been holding her baby brother while the family were paying respects to Larraine’s grandparents. While Lauren had her brother, he reached up out of curiosity, grabbed her earring, and pulled it right out of her ear. She reached up, and all she had was the back stuck to her ear. They checked the brother’s hand, no earring. They checked the mat Lauren was sitting on, no earring. They then deducted that it had fallen into the thick grass. The family had searched for the earring for 2 days without success, so Lauren went to the internet, and found me on The Ring Finders site.

I began by testing my equipment on the remaining earring, and was able to get about 1 to 1 1/2 inches on the detector. I then checked my pin pointer, and it had to touch the earring in order to get a response, so I knew I had to pin point well with my detector. I was receiving many signals, many were too strong, but checked them all. I searched the original area I was shown, but did not find it. Then moved a few feet lower, and received a faint signal. I put the pin pointer in the thick grass, and got a response. I kept the pin pointer in the grass as I moved the grass around. I could hear the pin pointer, and was looking at the earring which I could barely see in the dirt below the grass, but there it was. I grabbed it by the shank, brought it up, and held it out for Lauren, she and her father were totally surprised. One of the hardest items to recover, found and returned. Needless to say, we all felt real good at that moment.

On Sunday, April 30, 2017 I lost my diamond stud earring in the grass at Eternal Valley Cemetery. My little brother accidentally took it off my ear and it fell somewhere. We looked for two days but we couldn’t find it. On Monday, May 1, 2017 that night I searched up on google “how to find an earring in the grass” and that’s where I found out about this website called, The Ring Finders. I read through the website and it said something about someone being able to find their diamond stud earring, in the grass with the help of whoever is in charge of this website. I looked for more information and then I read a name. Steve. And so I assumed that he was in charge of this website. And I was right. His number was there, so I tried calling him. We arranged a meeting for the next day, May 2, 2017 and that’s on a Wednesday. At 3pm. At first, I was hesitant. Although I’ve read his blogs about him being able to help some people, I was still a little worried. I thought, would he really be able to help us look for my earring? Because I know we’ve looked for two days and we didn’t find it. But I took my chances. I knew that diamond earring had a sentimental value to me, so I just hoped he would be able to help us. And he did! It took him an hour and I almost thought he would never find it, but he did. He found it. We were all so happy. My parents, and especially me. It was really unexpected, but with the help of Steve and his equipments, my earring was found. I can attest to this event, and I am a witness that The Ring Finders is legit.
