Honoring Thy Father and Mother…..

…Should not mean losing your jewelry but that was not the case for this nice gentleman who was helping his elderly folks on Thanksgiving day tidying up the yard a bit before dinner. We made plans to meet this morning and on the phone he explained they didn’t know for sure where in the yard it may be and they had bagged 3 bags of leaves. I arrived on site and scanned all 3 bags getting no signal. Then I just started gridding the yard and bam! a clear +42 came thru on my MXT meter with 0 depth and I knew I had it! Probing through the grass revealed this golden beauty shining up at us from the sun’s reflection!
He was elated as he came a long distance to meet me and it made his and the family’s Thanksgiving more memorable!

Wallet, Keys, and Cell Phone Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

Wednesday night before Thanksgiving about 10:00 PM I received a call from Gabrial. He had lost his wallet, keys, and cell phone at the beach, and was wondering if I could help. We talked, and I asked questions, and I had many. What happened was that he had gone surfing, and wanting to make sure that no one absconded with his belongings he put them in an old sock and buried them in the sand and then put his towel over the spot. Well after coming out of the water, grabbing his towel and drying off, he turned and walked away to go home. It wasn’t until he had gone a long way off that he remembered that he had left his wallet, keys, and cell phone in the sand. He went back searched and searched digging up the sand where he remembered burying everything, but could not find them. Someone tried to help with a “Find My iPhone” app, but that didn’t work either, so after a long time of searching he finally gave up and went home. He was able to find my number, and called. He was thinking we might be able to go the next morning (which I was unable to do), I said the only other day I could get there would be Friday, and I knew that would be too late because the county would be dragging the beach before then with mechanical rakes and sifters, and his stuff would be gone for sure. I told him we had to go that night because his loss was on the towel line, the first place the county cleans. He lived about 45 minutes away and needed to get a ride, but said he would meet me there, so I was on my way.

I got to the beach and met Gabrial and his friends at the spot of the loss about 11:15 PM. It was dark on the beach, but with my headlight I could see where Gabrial had been searching. It looked as though he had plowed a half an acre of sand with his hands. I realized he had to be exhausted and discouraged, but I felt pretty certain that because I was able to convince him to go back the same night that we had a very good chance of finding everything. I asked him to show me where he believed he had his towel, and started my search there, going out of the box on every pass. I was working along and had made about 6 passes finding tons of bottle caps but nothing else. Not too soon after he came over to me showing me a black sock stuffed with things, his wallet, keys, and cell phone that was making a noise. It seems that while I was searching he was able to find someone else (at 11:30 PM!) with an iPhone, and they tried the “Find My iPhone” app again with success. I wasn’t the one to make this recovery, but I am sure that if I had not convinced Gabrial go to the beach that night his belongings would have gone for good. So glad to have played a part in making a great smile on Wednesday. We had some good fellowship afterwards which was also a blessing. It was great to meet him and his friends and be a help.

I received a text Thanksgiving eve asking if I could help find a wedding ring Lost in a back yard after the husband was doing yard work removing landscaping and noticed his ring was gone! We agreed to meet Friday just after the holidays to give it a search.

Promptly arriving and meeting the nice family I was shown a few prospective areas that it may of been lost at a week earlier…There were many probabilities,Not just the amount of excess leaves, branches, bushes, shrubs, plants,Rebar,Nails,but Metal Detectors near sodium lights and Homes will interfere and give false signals that makes problems to even your average Hobbyists Metal detector guy.

After going through the first possible areas in the front yard I had found confidence that it’s not there. The second place to scan over is where he had first started to cut and remove debris. I began the search and heard 2 strong signals inches apart that were ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals so I reached down to the most likely target sounding like a Platinum ring using a hand held metal detector pinpointer And there was a shiny Wedding ring buried under vegetation!

They were so happy and in shock but Shockingly so was I to find this so fast. It only took just a 20 minute hunt to find his lost platinum wedding ring of 14yrs buried in San Diego! What a great service to be a member of and it’s such an Honor that I can help others in need.

Ring recovery in Sunset Beach

A long time friend of mine called me to say her Mom lost a ring when they took her to visit the beach. She knew exactly where they walked to look at the ocean. It was starting to get dark so I grabbed my headlamp and was on my way. The city builds a large berm in the winter to keep the high tides from flooding the homes. My friend mentioned her Mom had slid down the berm to get to the bottom easier.

I started detecting at the entrance and worked my way towards the berm, no ring yet. I started scanning the side of the berm as I worked my way up to the top and thats when I got a good signal and found her ring. It’s just costume jewelry but her Mom was sad that she lost it and I was glad to help. It’s not the value, but the thrill of the hunt that gets me excited.    11/21/2017

Melissa called me earlier in the week. Her husband of 1 year lost his wedding ring. They think he lost it in the yard doing yard work 3 weeks ago. Wednesday afternoon would be the day I could search.

They had looked into buying a replacement but, the new ring was much more expensive then it was a year ago.

I get to the location, and I am greeted by Chris & Melissa. Chris explains that he has lost some weight and his ring was loose. He put it in his pock while he was cutting the grass. It was the same pocket that he put his phone. He took the phone out a few time to change the music he was listening to. He did this a few time in the front yard. The property is about an acre.

They had borrowed a metal detector from a friend but didn’t have any luck. It was constantly beeping.

I started in the front yard. At about 1 hour and 45 minutes into the hunt, I did most of the front yard, from the road towards the house. It was getting to be dinner time, and the mosquitoes were getting hungry. I decided that I would search near the front steps, then go to the backyard and search around the shed before calling it quits and returning this weekend.

15 minutes later I get a really good tone, had to get down on a knee and pull back the grass, and there is a cobalt ring with 14k rose gold inlay. Awesome looking ring.

I was about to ring the doorbell when Melissa showed up at the door. I showed her the ring, and the look on her face was priceless. I got a huge hug. Chris was very happy to see his rig. He didn’t believe that I found it near the front steps. He said that it had no chance of being there.

Titanium Wedding Band Found! Broadmoor Arena, Sherwood Park, Alberta

Received a call from Tamara this afternoon asking if I could help find her husband’s  titanium wedding ring which he lost in the snow last night? After asking Tamara a few questions I agreed to meet her within 45 minutes.

I arrived at the location and meet Tamara and her friend Kathie she showed me the area that the ring was lost Tamara said her husband was throwing snow on his vehicle windshield because he was out of washer fluid, he felt the ring slip off his finger?  after four hours looking and shoveling snow to one side he had no luck of finding his ring.

Tamara and Kathie spent another 45 minutes this afternoon looking in the pile of snow with no luck, Tamara then googled rent a metal detector, my name came up and called me,

I started to detect and area approximately 20′ x 30′ which I figured the ring would be? from the information I received from Tamara with no luck, then I move over to the pile of snow where her husband has shoveled the snow, that’s the spot the ring was found buried 4 inches in the snow.

Wedding Ring Lost at Park Tot Lot in Studio City, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

Nir called last Saturday night. He explained how he had taken his daughter to the local park, and was pushing her on the swing when a metal piece of the swing caught his ring and pulled it off of his finger. All in a second the ring that was custom made in Israel for his wedding, was gone. He and his wife searched for the ring in the sand for over an hour, but were unable to find it. I told him I would be there as soon as traffic would allow, and was on my way.

When I got to the park there was no lighting and it was very dark. I got out of the truck and then Nir called out. We met, and he pointed to the area we were going to search. I got my headlight on, and we headed over to the tot lot. He showed me what happened, and I proceeded to search. The spot was pretty clean of metal except a bit of iron here and there, but I wasn’t hearing what I was looking for. It wasn’t until I started searching the adjacent swing that I received the signal I was looking for. I put in my scoop, and inside was a very good looking ring, I pulled it out showing Nir, and he was very delighted. It seems as though the ring was sent flying in the opposite direction, and to the side of where they had envisioned it having traveled, so as always, we need to search out of the box. What a happy evening for Nir and his wife. It was great meeting and being able help him that night.

This is my story
On Saturday, 11/19/2017, at 4:00 PM, I went with my wife and my daughter to the park. As I rocked my girl on the swing, my wedding ring was pulled from my finger and fell into the sand.
After extensive searching and lots of help from good people, the loss was not found and I had to accept fate.
The evening came and I decided that this ring was too important to me and I was not going to give it up so easily.
I started looking online with a professional who comes with a metal detector and the first person who intrigued me was Steve Smith who answered me on the phone right away.
I told him the story and asked how much his service would cost me.
Steve answered that I could pay as much as I think fit. I was in in shock from his answer! He said that in any case he would come to help me even if I did not pay him at all!
I really wanted him to find my wedding ring.
We met in the park at six in the evening. It was already dark. Steve would get organized quickly and after 20 seconds the loss would be found !!! And I was very happy
I met a charming person who wants to help with all his heart!

Lost Diamond & Gold Wedding Ring at White Plains Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call Friday evening from Tracy who lives in Kailua. Tracy works for NOAA Hawaiian Monk Seal Rescue and was currently involved with a rescue at White Plains Beach. Her team was in the process of removing a fish hook from the throat of a Hawaiian Monk Seal when Tracy found her wedding ring getting tangled in the process. She remove the ring and placed it in the back pocket of her shorts and continued with the assistance on the monk seal. The team decided the monk seal would require sedation and in patient care so they transported the monk seal to their sanctuary for surgery. With the monk seal safely in transport Tracy went to retrieve her ring from her back pocket and it was gone. She and her team looked around the beach but it was no where to be found. The lifeguards at White Plains gave Tracy my number and we decided to meet the next morning for the hunt. An accident on the freeway made me about an hour late but Tracy patiently waited. When I arrived Tracy took me down to the spot on the beach from the moment she placed the ring in her short’s pocket. There was quite a bit of beach to search and the area was fairly trashy so I had to work through the chatter. After searching the first area with no luck Tracy showed me the path she took to the next area she was in. Nearly halfway to that spot along the path I got a great signal and one scoop down I retrieved the target. Looking in the scoop and pulling out the ring I showed Tracy and said, “Nah! This can’t be your ring.” She looked over in utter amazement and said, “Yes! That’s it!” A hug of relief and Tracy called her husband to give him the good news. Tracy was so thankful and said the knot she had in her stomach instantly went away. Aloha to Tracy! BTW the Hawaiian Monk Seal had the fish hook successfully removed and was returned to the wild that morning. Mahalo to the Team for their dedication and hard work keeping these beautiful creatures healthy!

Lost Ring In Surf at Laguna Beach .. Found

Paul actually saw his ring come off his finger while searching for lost keys in waist deep surf. He was at Picnic Cove which is one of many small beaches in Laguna Beach, CA. When I talked to Paul he said it happened 3 hours before calling me. Checking the tide table, determining that it happened just about high tide. It was a good sign that we had a chance to find it at low tide. The only problem is all the beaches have different characteristics. They also change with the currents and wave action.

We made arrangements to meet that night just before low tide. Going by his verbal directions I arrived earlier to start the search from the upper sand slope as the tide receded. Paul and his wife Sonia showed up just before I reached he waters edge. He directed me out onto the bedrock reef, where I gridded in knee deep surf. It was dark and there were many crevasses that could hide a ring.

When I came back to the sandy part of the beach, Sonia told me she thought it was lost closer to the sand. I took a few minutes to finish where I had left off my original grid. Boom! Paul’s platinum rose gold with diamonds wedding ring, there in a couple inches of water right where the sand met the rock reef. Paul and Sonia were standing up further on the beach with that look of doubt on their faces, but that changed to smiles of joy when I held up the ring for them to see.

It was a beautiful custom made ring that Sonia had designed. She had custom made for Paul while she was on vacation in India. Paul was embarrassed that this happen after they had only been married four months. Finding the ring was a special moment for all of us. I love helping people.
