Lost Wedding Ring Found – Franklinton

  • from Raleigh (North Carolina, United States)

I got a text from Julie, who explained that her husband had lost his rings. Rings plural? She explained that there were two rings that had been lost – one 5 1/2 years ago and a replacement ring that was lost a few days ago (more on that in a minute). It was the replacement ring that she had texted me about. They had searched for the original ring and been unable to find it.. I made the hour’s drive to her house and she explained the situation a little further. The newly lost ring (the replacement) had been tossed (long story) and Julie showed me the area of the woods where she thought it would have landed.

Julie then explained that right after they moved into this house 5 1/2 years earlier, their two dogs stumbled onto a yellow jacket nest in the woods. Julie grabbed one of the dogs and started to address that problem while her husband went after the other dog. The yellow jackets attacked him as well and in the process of swatting them away as he ran toward the house, his ring came off. They had looked for it at the time, but were unable to locate it. So, first ring lost 5 1/2 years earlier and replacement ring lost two days ago.

I spent probably two hours scouring the woods where she had pointed me, but no ring. Nails, bottle caps, pop tops, and other common things, but no ring. After talking with Julie again, we decided that moving the search closer to the house (into the yard) would be a good strategy. I turned my machine back on and almost immediately Julie yelled that she had found the replacement ring. I was disappointed that I hadn’t found it, but since the main thing is to get the owner and the lost item back together, it was still a great outcome. With the replacement ring found, I started looking for the “original”. I was only able to spend about 30 min that day, but promised to come back and try again.

On my return visit, I started where the yellow jacket nest had been and slowly worked my way toward the house. After about an hour of searching, I got a solid signal and uncovered the original ring. During the time between loss and recovery, it had sunk 3 or so inches down into the dirt and was additionally covered by leaf litter. The picture shows the ring and an excited Julie. Another happy ending!

The sun was shining on the beach in North Wildwood, NJ, with the sound of seagulls filling the air. Angelo had been tossing a football in the surf the previous day. He felt his wedding band slip off into the ocean. He searched frantically, but the water was rushing in and the ring could have been anywhere. That’s when someone mentioned the Ring Finders South Jersey. Angelo reached out to me, and I arrived shortly after speaking to him. He told me where he thought the ring might be, and I began the search, scanning the bottom of the surf with my metal detector. After about 20 minutes of searching, my detector buzzed. I scooped up a handful of sand and shells, and there in the center of my scoop was Angelo’s wedding band. Angelo was ecstatic and it was a great day in North Wildwood, NJ!

Lost his wedding ring in a park area around Foster Ave Beach in Chicago. He rented a detector to try and find it himself, unfortunately he did not have any success, which is pretty common when they have no experience with a detector and the area to be hunted is loaded with trash as this was. When he called and told me he did not find it I decided to give it a shot, very happy to say I got lucky and got to add another Happy ending!!

Lost Condo Key Found in the Sand Wildwood, NJ Ring Finders South Jersey John Favano

  • from North Wildwood (New Jersey, United States)

There’s nothing quite like a summer day on the beach in Wildwood, NJ  warm sun, cool waves, and good company. But sometimes, the fun gets interrupted by a small mistake that quickly turns into a big problem. That’s exactly what happened recently when Karen’s son’s friend accidentally lost their condo key on the beach. What started as a game of catch quickly turned into a frantic search in the sand—and that’s when I got the call.

Karen explained that the boys were tossing the key back and forth, not thinking much of it. But one throw went too high, and the key slipped through someone’s fingers and vanished into the soft Wildwood sand. They spent nearly an hour digging around, hoping it would turn up, but it was nowhere to be found. With the sun starting to set and no spare key available, panic started to set in.

Luckily, Karen knew about The Ring Finders South Jersey, and she gave me a call. I was already nearby, and just 10 minutes later, I was on the scene with my metal detector in hand and ready to help.

Wildwood, NJ has a wide beach, and once something small like a key disappears into the sand, it can be nearly impossible to find without the right tools. I asked a few quick questions to pinpoint the general area where the key was lost. The boys had done a good job marking the spot where they last saw it, which made the search much easier.

Within five minutes of scanning the area with my metal detector, I got a solid signal. A few scoops later, and there it was the lost condo key, still partially buried beneath the sand. The look of relief on everyone’s faces was priceless. Karen thanked me repeatedly, saying she had no idea how they would’ve gotten back into the condo if it weren’t for the quick recovery.

This is just one example of how The Ring Finders South Jersey can help when something important goes missing on the beach. Whether it’s a lost ring, key, phone, or other metal item, our tools and experience can often recover what seems lost forever.

If you’re spending time at the shore and misplace something valuable, don’t waste time digging blindly. Give me a call and let me help. LOST 14k WHITE GOLD ENGAGEMENT RING IN CHARLOTTE, NC…… FOUND!!!

  • from Raleigh (North Carolina, United States)

Received a text last night asking for help to find an engagement ring lost in their backyard. We planned on me being there at 9:30 am.

Story goes, they were laying on blanket in the backyard when she had put ring on her pinky, stood up and it slipped off into the thick grass. They searched and searched, bought a pinpointer and even ordered a metal detector as well.

He found me online and asked if I could help.

I made the hour and half drive, get the location, turn on and set up my machine, take a step and boom there it was!

Love helping people find the little priceless things they lost and put them back in their life!

Lost Phone Recovery in Santa Cruz

  • from Santa Cruz (California, United States)

A couple days ago Allison contacted me asking for assistance finding her daughter Marcy’s phone that Marcy had lost several days earlier in Pogonip park in Santa Cruz.  They were able to track the phone as it was still sending a GPS signal and I have done a lot of metal detecting in this park due to it’s important place in Santa Cruz history.  Marcy had been back to the site twice already looking for her phone thinking that it would be easy to find given the location it was transmitting, but was getting to the point of hopelessness as she felt it had gotten completely obfuscated by the tall dry grass.

I was reasonably confident in my ability to find the lost phone as the GPS signal narrowed it down to an area of about 100′ radius and I was very familiar with the park.  Typically I prefer the person who lost the item to be with me for the search so that she can advise on specific details on where it was lost, but in this case with the GPS signal still transmitting I was happy to make an attempt on my own.  I let them know that I would get started the following day late in the afternoon and that I would stay in touch to communicate details.

Yesterday I hiked into the site and spent some time reorienting myself based on Marcy’s map she sent and my live Google maps with a pin dropped of where the phone’s location was reporting from.  The night before I had made this map in preparation, since I have experienced situations metal detecting where a map or satellite view of an area looks totally different from how the site looks on the ground.  Curiously I had immediately started finding various items by eye right on the surface… a pair of beat up sunglasses, beer cans, bottles.  So it appeared that a lot of human activity had transpired here.  As I started searching with my metal detector I started finding more items, mostly by eye.  I had even found a junk ring and a small silver earring, at which point I stopped and reached out to Marcy’s father (who was still in communication with Marcy by email) to find out if Marcy had also happened to lose a pair of sunglasses and silver earring.  I wanted to find out if I was close to the location of where the phone had been lost, because the search was taking longer than I anticipated and it was definitely not spot on the coordinates that the phone was reporting.

When Marcy’s father responded that she had not lost these items I realized it was time to start expanding the search to the outer limits of the 100′ radius of the phone’s GPS accuracy.  I told Marcy’s father that I would continue until dark.  It seemed I had been finding everything but Marcy’s phone which was being quite elusive.  But I was confident that it was still there.  Sure enough, not long after this and as I was tracing the absolute edge of the GPS estimate, I finally spotted Marcy’s phone peeking through the tall grass!  It had been just sitting there for several days, totally untouched but till transmitting it’s signal.

In this case a slow and meticulous search was as valuable as a metal detector.  The phone was quite visible, but to find it required a lot of patience and estimation of where it could be based on good information.  I contacted the family and shortly after met up with Marcy’s father to return the phone to her.  We were all very happy to have her phone returned back to her and I was glad that I could be of assistance in their search.

Safety First on Emerald Isle Beach Leads to Lost Charms Found By Crystal Coast Ring Finders

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

Tindra

While applying sunscreen, Tindra noticed that the clasp on her necklace had come undone, causing her charms to fall into the soft sand below. Tindra managed to locate one of the before my arrival. Since she knew the general area to search, the recovery of the final charm was swift, and Tindra expressed great gratitude.

Tindra explained:  “The charms are family heirlooms from my family in Sweden.  They’re gifted to babies when they’re born and one of my charms is over 100 years old.  The “T” that I lost was from my Grandpa and gifted to me when I was a baby”
