Ring recovered at North Beach Park, Spring Lake, Michigan

Got a call from Sarah C. today asking if I could help her find her ring. She and boyfriend Scott A. were at the park, while playing around with her ring it popped out of her hand and into the sand. They frantically searched to no avail and told the Park Ranger about the loss and was referred to me. After a call to me and me eating my Fourth of July steak dinner, I  proceeded to drive the 45 minutes to North Park.

I met Sarah and Scott  at the park and proceeded to search the area with my Fisher F75 after the second 10 foot grid search I found her ring. It was a pretty silver ring with a heart shaped pink stone, a promise ring to a future for Sarah, Allan and a baby on the way.

Happy Fourth of July to all and one Sarah and Scott will always remember.

Luck of the Irish – Returning a lost ring on an Hawaiian Island beach!

It didn’t take us long to meet up with newlyweds Paul and Barbara on the beach after we’d gotten their call.

Paul was an Irishman with a new American lass for a wife – but Barbara had done all of the talking on the phone as Paul’s Irish accent was so thick. “Are you Ring Finders?” she asked.

As soon as we heard that Paul hadn’t seen his ring all day we knew we’d have a challenge. And they didn’t know where it could have been lost…!

Paul and Barbara had been married just five days earlier and were enjoying the restaurants and shops near their hotel here on the Big Island of Hawaii. As Paul tried on some Maui Jim sunglasses, he looked as his hand to admire this wedding ring – which was missing!

They’d seen a detectorist in the early morning combing the beach and didn’t want to loose their ring forever – so looked us up online to find and return their ring. We got to their hotel as soon as possible and decided that the small bay they’d spent the morning swimming in was a good place to start. Again, they weren’t sure if it was lost in the water, the sand, the hotel or the shops…!

Brent Madison of Big Island Metal Detecting explains the basics of the Excalibur II metal detector and how small, lost gold rings can turn into big, found signals for recovery. Big Island, Hawaii.

Paul wasn’t a strong swimmer so we were confident that scuba wouldn’t be necessary though we’d packed our dive gear in the car.

I looked where Paul had rented a stand-up paddleboard while Sylvie searched the sandy bottom where Paul had remembered swimming in the warm, tropical waters of the bay.

Sylvie and I started our grid pattern searches with our metal detectors.

Beaches on the Big Island of Hawaii are so heavily searched by treasure hunters that neither of us hit any of the trash often found on other beaches around the world. We were well into our search pattern – at least 45 minutes – when I heard my name called and saw Paul and Sylvie “high-five’ing” nearby.

Sylvie had been carefully following her search pattern and talking to Paul as he snorkeled and bobbed around her. Suddenly she’d hit a “huge target” in her underwater headphones – then as suddenly, lost the signal. She was so deep in the water that she couldn’t hold the target under her detector and dig the target at the same time.

Sylvie Madison of Big Island Metal Detecting gears up with her Garrett Sea Hunter metal detector to look in the water for a lost, men’s wedding ring. Big Island, Hawaii.

“Hold the detector here!” she told Paul, handing him her Garrett SeaHunter II, after she’d reacquired the signal. Sylvie dug and nothing. Then dug in the sandy bottom again.

In her scoop was Paul’s lost ring straining out of the sand. Barbara had been watching from beachside and rushed into the water when Sylvie pulled it from her scoop.

We all stood in the water admiring their newly found wedding ring, delighted together in Sylvie’s find. We laughed that Paul could start relaxing again on his honeymoon!

A platinum wedding ring which was lost and found on the beaches of the Kohala Coast, Big Island, Hawaii.

Not knowing where they’d lost it, it seemed it had been the luck of the Irish to reunite them – a small ring in such a large world! Barbara was quick to qualify the reason – she’d been praying to St. Anthony, her patron saint, since they’d discovered the ring had been missing.

God knows the reasons some rings are found or not – and in the end, Paul, Barbara and us at Big Island Metal Detecting are all thankful that we could be part of the discovery of their lost treasure. Especially so early on in their new marriage!

Engagement Ring Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found and Returned in Happiness.

  • from Redondo Beach (California, United States)

I got a call from Chantal today hoping I could help her find her engagement ring at the beach. I was able to go, but I knew that on a weekend, the day before 4th of July, parking would be horrendous. I told her I would be on my way. I was right about the parking, and had to park about 1 1/2 miles away, and lug my equipment to where they were; fortunately there was a concrete strand to walk on.

Chantal told me she had taken two rings off to apply sunscreen, and laid them on the towel. Later not remembering the rings Chantal picked up the towel and shook it, and then to her horror remembered the rings. She and her husband Ty searched for the rings, and were able to find one of them, but the continued search proved unfruitful for the other one. That is when they found me on theringfinders.com. I met Ty on the way to the spot, and he informed me that they had just celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary in April. I checked the area Ty showed me, and decided to start my search where they had found the first ring. I completed each line of the grid working my way back towards where the towel had originally been, when right in that area I got a good clean foil sound in my headphones. I dug once, and looked down to see that I had just missed the ring when I scooped as it was partially showing in the sand. I reached down, then held the ring up for all to see, because the people next to them were waiting and watching as I searched. Ty then broke out in a very loud voice saying, “That’s what I’m Talking about!”, “Thank God for Social Media!” This was a great recovery, I am glad I was able to be a part of it; smiles all around.

If you lose your ring or other metal item of value, call as soon as possible. I will work hard, using the most up to date metal detectors, to help you find what you thought might never be found again. I search,  Beverly Hills, Hermosa Beach, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, Newport Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Santa Monica, Seal Beach, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Torrance, Venice Beach, and all parks, yards, gardens, and ponds (to 5 foot depths) in all of Orange County, all of Los Angeles County, and Ventura County.

Lost Engagement ring Port elgin Ontario

Woke up this morning to a call from a lady who is getting married next weekend. While swimming in port elgin beach the night before she came to shore and noticed her engagement ring was no longer on her finger and had to be sitting in the bottom of the beach somewhere. They searched for hours with the help of many others to come out empty handed. When she got home they googled something similar to “How to find a lost ring” and managed to find this directory.

Don of cherished finds was already in the area so he began the search right away and with the help of his wife found the ring within a couple hours!

Two Rings One Search – Lost Ring in Sauble Beach Ontario Canada

About a week ago we received a call from a pretty upset couple who had lost their wedding ring in Sauble Beach. We drove up that day to search and within a few minutes had a strong beep, we instantly dug the signal knowing it would be good and sure enough we pulled up a beautiful gold wedding band.

Excitedly we called back the owner and sent them a photo to hear them respond in a sad tone and say “That isnt my ring” Turns out in the same location we found another wedding band!! We continued the search that night and came out empty handed. We returned a few days later and searched another 6ish hours creating a grid and expanding the search as far as possible in the directions we were told they went. Again we came out without a ring.

At this point we were beginning to wonder where this ring could be, we knew the last chance to find this ring was to call them up and see if they would possibly drive 2 and a half hours to meet us at the location. They both kindly agreed to this and left there home town at 5:30am to meet us on the water at 8:00. My dad and myself new the ring wasnt in the location we had thought it was, the last hope was to have them redo their entire actions from that day and eliminate all the possibilities.

We met them at the beach and began right away by asking many questions,

when did you notice the ring was missing?

Where were you when it fell off?

Did you walk away from the area at any point?

Etc.

After many questions we figured there was a few options, the ring was lost walking to get food, around their main on land location or it was out further than we had searched due to aggressive waves and a miss communication over the phone in terms of how deep he was actually out.

We gridded off the land with no luck and decided to move out much deeper than we searched previous days, the husband and wife both went out into the water with us (which was not super warm) and within five minutes of searching where he believed it was lost we found this amazing gold wedding band.

Moral of the story is never give up, continue to expand the grid and ask as many questions as possible!

Wedding band recovered in Lawton, Michigan

Got a call from my Ring Finder partner Dave Boyer about a lost ring in Lawton, Michigan. After getting the information I called Dakota M. to get the facts and see if he had found his ring yet. He told me he had not found it yet so I made arrangements to go down state to search. Dakota explained that he had gotten married recently and was setting on his porch talking to a friend on the phone and fiddling with this new item on his finger and before he knew it, it flew off his finger and he heard it bounce and then down through the slats of the porch. This is an older home that he had recently purchased and the old porch had the boards that had wider spaces between the floor boards and around the porch there was lattice work covering a crawl space. Dakota got a wrench and took off a section of the lattice and crawled under the porch. He gathered a bunch of leaves and dirt where he thought the ring should be but couldn’t find it.  That night he googled lost ring and found a site and posted his lost ring.

I called my brother Doug, because Dave B. wasn’t available, and asked him if he wanted to go look for a ring and he said yes. So Tuesday evening we headed South to Dakota’s house. We arrived a little before Dakota as he was coming from work. Dakota showed us the porch and area where he thought the ring fell through, he took off the lattice and into the crawl space Doug and I went in on hands and knees. Dusty, dirty, nails, leaves and broken glass everywhere. after getting to the middle we found the ring. It is a black titanium ring that was so big my detector whined as opposed to beeping.

Dakota hit the trifecta tonight by making his new wife happy by getting his ring back, cutting the grass and making diner. It was a pleasure meeting Dakota and finding his ring.IMG_2467IMG_2466

Husband loses wife’s sentimental ring! Found at Mauna Lani, Hawaii

2016-06-20 14.22.19

Ricky holding his wife’s lost – and now found – sentimental gold ring with large aquamarine stone. Mauna Lani, Big Island, Hawaii

“It won’t be there!”

Ricky called us a little sheepishly. His wife had specific instructions to put her ring in the hotel safe so it wouldn’t be lost…! The ring had been his wife’s mother’s ring and greatly sentimental. On the way to the room, he’d done just that – lost it – on the way from the pool to the vacation condo’s front door….

(This was the second call this week we’d had from spouses losing their partner’s rings!)

I met him, his wife and young granddaughters at the pool where his wife had handed Ricky her large gold and aquamarine ring. We retraced his steps from around the pool, across the private road and into the grassy walkway leading to the house. He’d realized halfway there that the ring was missing.

There were only a few movements where Ricky had used both hands on his trip to the condo. As we retraced his steps I took careful note.  He’d stopped at his car and only a few steps into the grass, realized the ring was missing.

A small assortment of lost items from the grass – including the lost gold ring with aquamarine – at Mauna Lani, Big Island, Hawaii

After about 30 minutes of carefully looking along his route, I was ready to try somewhere else. On a hunch, I walked up near the front door and looked back at the yard towards his car. “I didn’t go anywhere near there,” Ricky said as he walked back towards the car. “I didn’t get that far as I realized I’d lost it over here.” I looked down and scanned the grass to the side of a palm tree. Peeking out from the green grass was a small glint of gold. Sure enough, the ring was there, much to the joy and amazement of Ricky.

Lost Wedding Ring Found at a Public Beach in Vermont

I got an email last night from a lady who was swimming with her grand kids at a large beach 3 days ago when she lost her wedding and engagement ring. She and her husband had gone back a couple times and spent many hours looking for it. They had even gotten the help of a local metal detectorist who had some very nice equipment. But, the ring was not giving up easily on it’s hiding game! She told me by phone approximately where she had been relaxing on the beach and wading and floating on a tube with her grand kid. So, this morning I got up early to go search, because the beach was an hour away, and there was going to be a huge crowd there today with the temperatures going near 90 degrees! I wanted to have the best chance before someone else might find it and keep it. I stopped at the park ranger’s cabin and she gave me an enthusiastic “yes” when I asked permission to search way before opening hours. About 20 seconds and 10 feet of searching went by and there was that great signal of gold! I pushed the pinpointer into the sand and it located the ring about 3 or 4 inches down. It was very well protected from sight!
I called her right up and she said she was about to come to the beach and show me where she had been and to help look for it. She was very shocked and happy to hear that I had found it already. I sure love making those calls! I love doing these rescue missions! I love the happy reunions!!

Mary and Gene were enjoying a campfire in their backyard until she lost her engagement ring and wedding band.  Frantic to locate the rings, Gene searched for hours on his hands and knees.  He was able to locate the engagement ring, but the wedding band couldn’t be found.  Gene even purchased a metal detector but returned it because he was inexperienced with its operation.  Mary searched the internet for help and located the Ring Finders website.  Gene contacted me and asked if I could search their backyard.  In less than a half hour, I located the wedding band in the grass.  It was a pleasure to help this nice young couple!

Rommel called me yesterday afternoon asking if I could help him find his key he buried in a park by a tree unfortunately he forgot which tree it was, For a minute I thought it was a joke but after asking  few questions why/where/when,  asked him why he had buried the key there and not at home and why was it important to have the key back he told me he was driving home from work one evening and thought the park would be safe place, also he made a box and had sentimental value and did not want to damage the box, I determined he was sincere and agreed to meet him at the park. Arrived at the park and meet Rommel he showed me the location and where he had been searching around the trees I must have checked about 15 trees and shrubs, As always asking more question.

After searching for 2 hrs and switching from AT-Pro to V3i with 4×6 coil received a good signal and there buried in about 6 inches of mulch was his key another happy client thank you Rommel for trusting me to find your key.
