Lost Diamond Ring Found in the Leaves! Newton, Massachusetts

  • from Westerly (Rhode Island, United States)

A diamond ring was lost while exercising and found in the leaves – Newton, Massachusetts! Samantha was on her deck exercising one morning. While doing jumping jacks, her gold diamond ring went flying off her finger. She heard it bounce on the wooden planks and disappear into the freshly fallen leaves. Unsure if the ring was still on the deck or if the ring was lost in the leaves below, she and her family searched for the lost ring day and night, with no luck in finding the lost ring. Landscapers came and blew the freshly fallen leaves across the property, potentially moving the lost ring around and complicating the search. Within a few days of losing the ring, Samantha’s husband found my website rediscoverlost.com, completed my online form, and booked a ring search. When I arrived in Massachusetts, the leaves were even deeper than when the ring was lost. I searched in the nearest areas to where Samantha was exercising and worked my way outwards. Metal detecting under the deck, in the nearby plant pots, and around the walking path, I was coming up empty in my search. Expanding my search to the nearby property line, I got a promising signal under some trees. Brushing the leaves away, I realized this signal was too deep in the dirt to be a recently lost ring. After investigating a couple of metal-detecting signals, I finally saw the luster of the diamonds and gold! The flying ring bounced quite a bit further and in a different direction than expected. The ring was once again reunited with Samantha! Check out the YouTube video below for Samantha’s reaction to getting her lost diamond ring back!

Lost Heirloom Wedding Band Found in the Yard! Carlisle, Massachusetts

  • from Westerly (Rhode Island, United States)

A lost heirloom wedding band found in a yard in Carlisle, Massachusetts! Nick was cleaning up the kiddie pool as part of his end-of-summer chores. He used a hose to rinse the pool parts off when he flung his hands to get the water off. A few minutes later, something didn’t feel right. He looked down and realized his heirloom wedding band from 4 generations back was missing! Such an important piece of family history gone missing brings an unbelievable amount of stress. This wedding band was made from Nick’s great-grandmother’s ring, the diamonds of which were placed in his wife’s ring – a truly irreplaceable heirloom. Nick spent some time searching the lawn, walkways, and garden spaces with a borrowed metal detector. He eventually found my website, rediscoverlost.com, and we scheduled a time to search. Soon after meeting at the property and investigating the situation, I heard a few metal-detecting signals around the areas Nick mentioned. Most of the signals turned out to be common trash. I started working my way back to where the pool was and heard a signal in one of the plants alongside the walkway. I pushed aside the vegetation and saw a gold ring wedged between the plant stalks, standing on its edge. This was the location where Nick thought he was standing when he shook his hands. Nick’s wife happened to be driving away right as I was finding the ring. Check out the YouTube video below to see her reaction!

From Nick:

“Having lost an heirloom (four generations back) wedding band in my yard, I was very anxious to find it. Hours of searching on my hands and knees and with a borrowed metal detector was fruitless. Keith and his wife came in and found it in about 15 minutes. I am profoundly grateful for his help. As with so many things in life, there is no substitute in this field for skill/experience and having the right equipment + knowing how to use it, and Keith ticks all these boxes. If you’ve lost something metal and have been unable to find it yourself, don’t despair – get Keith involved.”

Lost Diamond Ring Found in the Sand! Watch Hill, Rhode Island

  • from Westerly (Rhode Island, United States)

A lost diamond ring was found in the sand in Watch Hill, Rhode Island! A Family was visiting the beach and was using the local facilities when disaster struck. The wife was shaking water off her hands as she walked through the sandy area when the ring flew off. Some hobbyist metal detectors happened to be walking by and tried to help out. The hobbyists found some metal trash but no ring. The family had already left town, so this was a remote search. Through maps and photos, I was able to locate the general area. Then, I found some marks in the sand that were obvious to me someone was dragging their fingers through the sand (check out the YouTube video below to see the marks). The finger marks in the sand helped me narrow down the exact area, and the search began. I found a bit of typical beach trash and had to adjust my metal detector to adapt to large metal objects under the sand and some electrical interference. I eventually came across a small signal that sounded promising. A thin diamond band emerged from the sand as I swept my metal detector across the surface. With a quick Facetime call, I let the family know the lost ring was found and met up to return the ring shortly after!

Neil decided to put his wedding band in the pocket of his beach chair for safekeeping while he spent time on the beach with his wife and friends in Ocean City, NJ. After he got back to his house, he went to look for the ring but discovered a hole in the pocket instead. He gave me a call and exained the situation. The ring could have dropped in the sand by the chair or anywhere along the path they walked home. I met him where the group sat and started the search there. There were several targets, mostly Matchbox cars, that I had to weed out, and then I heard the tone from the metal detector I was expecting, the sound of the ring. Now their weekend getaway in Ocean City, NJ was able to end on a high note!

Wedding ring found after front yard search in Holden, Louisiana

  • from New Orleans (Louisiana, United States)

Taylor contacted me back in December asking if I could assist in finding her wedding ring that was lost in her front yard after a night with hanging out by the bonfire with friends and family. I was able to make it out to Holden a few weeks later, however, once I finally arrived at her house, the rain began pouring down and the cold weather didn’t make the situation any better. After searching for about 30 minutes, I decided it would be best to return another day when the conditions were better. Almost two months later I finally was able to return. This time the weather was perfect. I used orange marking flags to meticulously mark every couple foot that I searched so that I don’t keep searching the same area. After clearing the entire front yard, I worked my way across the driveway to the side. Within 5 feet I saw her massive rose gold wedding ring still sitting on top the soil. I was thrilled that through perseverance, we were able to reunite Taylor with her lost wedding ring.

Phone tag to find the Key Fob owner in Kelowna.

  • from Kelowna (British Columbia, Canada)

Friday night I received a phone call from a fellow detectorist, who asked if I could assist a lady with a lost key Fob. He gave me the ladies number, but the  group of ladies stranded could not identify the park where they where at, they forwarded me on to their Aunt from Edmonton. By the time we figured it out it is was dark, I told them I would be there the next morning.  Saturday morning I got there at 7am, without any specific location, just by the parked red Mazda, sand or maybe the grass? I started gridding the sand, and after 30 minutes I had the Car Fob. I phoned the Aunts number, phone not in use, so I called the initial detectors request, and he did not know, but his brother did, I called his brother who contacted the lady and said she would call me back. Her friends turned up and sure enough it was their Key Fob. They started the car and drove it to the owner. Key fobs are expensive to replace, especially with the car stranded.

Lost White Gold Wedding Band at Hale Koa Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Brittany who was on vacation from Dallas Texas.  Her text said she got my info from Don my fellow ring finder on Oahu and said her husband Michael lost his white gold wedding ring on Hale Koa Beach in the dry sand.  I told her I was getting off work soon and would grab my gear and head right down.  I told her I would come down the board walk and just flag me when I came in sight.  When I arrived on location Michael was already removing beach items from the search area and showed me the area he thought the ring would be.  I fired up the “Beast” my Manticore off course and started the hunt.  My first target screamed a “36” and in one scoop there was Michael’s precious Tacori white gold wedding ring.  Brittany asked if that was my fastest recovery and i said, “No, I actually turned my detector on at Turtle Bay and the ring was under my coil.  But this for sure is second quickest!!!  They sincerely thanked me and I wished them well on the rest of their vacation.  Aloha to Michael & Brittany!

Experience Counts

  • from Kelowna (British Columbia, Canada)

I got a call from Lake Country BC, a one hour drive away, the gentleman told me he had lost his 18k yellow gold and ruby ring that his wife presented to him years ago. He hosted his sons wedding in his back yard around the pool, and lower patio area last Fall, he lost the ring removing lighting from around the pool. He had photographs from the patio showing that he had the ring before the lights removal, he suspected it was in the Basalt rocks around the patio, below where the lighting was, he thought it probably came off during the removal. His search had no results, I told him would respond the first good weather day. Yesterday was that day, I spent almost 2 hours gridding the area, and advised him the I was convinced that it was not there,  he responded that I was probably his last resort. I told him stories of past recoveries where the lost item often turned up the trash bags where leaves etc had been placed, and suggested he take down his packing boxes where he stored the lights and search them, he agreed and said that was also his plan. That evening he called to say he had found the ring, and thanked me for my time and travel, and that I was his inspiration to take down the boxes and search them,  his last hope was the boxes.
