Lost: 1/4 Kt. Diamond Platinum Ring Dewey Beach, Delaware……………Found

  • from Lewes (Delaware, United States)
Contact:

While out on another ring search on a beach 30 minutes away, I received a phone call from a young lady requesting my help in locating her lost Platinum Diamond ring on the beach in Dewey Beach,  Del. I responded to the location at which time I made contact with the young lady and learned that she had dropped both her wedding ring and engagement ring in the dry sand. The young lady was able to recover the wedding band but had no luck in finding the engagement ring. As I arrived at the location of the lost ring I observed man with a metal detector at the scene, I learned that he had searched for the lost ring prior to my arrival and that he was unable to locate it with his metal detector. The young lady pointed out the marked area where the ring had been lost and I began my grid search. I made one pass and turned around to make a second pass at which time I heard the sweet sound of success in my head set. The young lady was very happy with being reunited with her lost ring. Another successful recovery and very happy client.

Lost Women’s Gold Class Ring in Marysville, OH “FOUND”

I received an email about a lost women’s gold class ring. It was lost in the summer of 1983, 29 years ago. She only had her class ring for a couple of months before she lost it in her yard. The ring had a lot of sentimental value, because it had her high school boyfriends stone on the class ring. Which was also her first love.

Her and her high school boyfriend have been brought back together after 28 years apart and often talk of the ring she lost. She wonder if it was possible to find the ring. I notified her and told her that it is very possible to find it.

After looking for about a hour using the grid search and flags. The class ring was found. Telling her that I have found something of hers, she got excited. But started crying in happiness after telling her the stone on the ring was red. She did not tell me the stone color in our conservations. Everyone in her family that was there was very happy to see the ring again. It  made me very happy to see her happy as I received a hug from her.

I am glad that I was able to bring a smile to her  in returning the class ring after 29 years apart.

Lost Gold Diamond Man’s Wedding Ring in Pataskala, OH “FOUND”.

I received a call from a guy that lost his first wedding ring in his backyard last summer. His family tradition is giving his wedding ring to his son, that is getting married later this year. If I was not able to find the wedding ring then he would have to give his son his current wedding ring.

Well about half way though the back yard, I found the ring. The diamond and gold wedding ring shine in the sun as his wife came outside with joy to see the lost ring. Him and his wife were very happy to see the ring again. And their son will be also.

Wedding Band Found at Woonsocket, RI, Home

I received a call today from a friend who knew I was a member of The Ring Finders.  He asked me to look for a ring for his stepdad’s mom, Cecile.  Cecile lost her husband about a year ago and has worn his wedding ring on her thumb ever since.  That is until yesterday when the ring was lost while she was doing yard work.  She was so upset that she looked for the ring until late last night with a flashlight and prayed to Saint Anthony.  After searching the grass in her front yard for about 45 minutes this evening, I found her husband’s wedding band.  Cecile was so happy to get the ring back that she cried and hugged me when she saw it.  She said she felt blessed, but not as blessed as I felt to have been able to return it to her!

Gold Signet Ring for 8yr Old found after 3 weeks

  • from Dallas (Texas, United States)
Contact:

Hello from Don & Ellen Wilson in Dallas, Texas.  We got a call today from Mrs Bundy, her 8yr old daughter, Briar, had lost her Gold Signet Ring at the playground of the local Country Club.  We met at the Country Club and began searching the area where the daughter said she saw the ring fly off her hand.  She was playing Queen of the World by standing on top of a picnic table and threw her arm out like she was Queen. The ring came off of her hand and was lost.

After 3 weeks of searching by Briar, her parents, other family members and the Country Club grounds & Management staff everyone had given the ring up for lost.  Mrs Bundy’s sister in New York read an article about  “The Ring Finders” and told Mrs. Bundy she should check the website and see if there was a “Ring Finder in the Dallas area”  She did and found my wife and I.

After about an hour of searching we were about to call it quits when I asked the little girl to get back up on the picnic table and re-inact the event.  She did, then my wife said “no wait, do it again and close your eyes and do it the exact same way”.  Briar did as we requested and did it completely different than she had previously showed us.  This time I saw that it was possible the ring may have  flown in a different area of grass.  We began to detect this area and in 5 minutes the ring showed itself.  I called the little girl and her mother over and asked, ‘is this your ring’?  They were so excited and so grateful.

Another great day in the life of “The Ring Finders in Dallas,Tx”

We  received a panic call from a young man about 8pm one night saying that his girlfriend had lost the locket and chain he had given her somewhere in his front yard.  He wanted us come that night but we were tied up and promised to come early the next morning.  We arrived around 7am and he explained that he and his girlfriend had been playing around in the front yard when the incident happened. She had placed the item in the pocket of her hoodie prior to playing around.  She was extremely upset with him and he was really upset that he couldn’t find it himself.

We got out our detectors and began scanning and in just 5 minutes or so we got a HIT.  We found the locket and chain. He was shocked and happy and could not thank us enough.

What a thrill to have another successful hunt for “The Ring Finder”.

Lost Engagement Ring Recovered In Severn Maryland!

  • from Baltimore (Maryland, United States)

Back on April 3rd, I was contacted by Laurie via email informing me that over the weekend she lost her wedding ring while doing yard work. What I remember most about the email was her last sentence……..” I’m absolutely heartbroken”. I got back to her the same day and we made arrangements to come out that weekend. Once again, my detecting buddy Lance was available to tag along.  Were we successful you ask? I’ll let Laurie tell the story in her own words…..

We were outside most of the day Saturday.  My husband was working in the yard all day.  I was outside most of the day as well , simultaneously cleaning up the flowerbeds and the kids’ play area and playing with the kids.  After coming in for the day, we had a quick dinner, gave the kids a bath and put them to bed.  Once the kids were in bed and we had a chance to relax we realized my engagement ring was missing.  We panicked and tried to look for it in the house and outside, even though it was dark.  We barely slept and continued the search on Sunday and for the next couple days.  We sifted through the bags of yard waste, checked drains in the house, took apart our washing machine and used a cheap metal detector that we had in our garage.  We had no luck finding the ring but kept googling for ideas.  We came across Jim’s web page and figured we had nothing to lose.  We e-mailed Jim and he responded right away.  He told us not to throw out our yard waste so that they could check it with their detectors.  We arranged for Jim and his buddy Lance to come out in a few days.  They arrived as scheduled and were very friendly and eager to help find the ring.  They asked some questions about what we were doing and where and then they got to work.  They were very methodical in their search and their equipment was top-notch.  Within and hour of searching, Lance found the ring in a bag of yard waste.  As our daughter said, “Yay, nice men!”  Thanks again Jim and Lance!  ~ Laurie & Jason

I tell you what, the feeling never gets old returning something to someone that has practically given up hope of ever seeing it again.  And this 100% success rate I(we) have going……I’m really getting use to it!

Lance returning the ring to Laurie

Glad we could got this beauty back to Laurie

Lost Platinum Wedding Band Recovered in Ashburn, Virginia!

I’m very proud of my perfect recovery record thus far as a member of The Ring Finders. The most recent recovery gives me a perfect 4 for 4 record!  I must admit, this time it was my detecting buddy who I asked to come along with me that actually found the lost platinum ring we were looking for, but nonetheless the recovery was a success! Being able to make a  couple’s St. Patty’s Day extra special sure was nice. I’ll let Sarah tell you the rest of the story in her own words….

My husband was out in our yard doing some gardening including spreading grass seed and pulling up weeds and throwing them over an embankment in a wooded area behind our house.  A few hours after finishing the yard work, he noticed that his ring was missing.  Even though he wasn’t sure he had lost it in the yard, he immediately went out there searching for hours with no luck.  He was even able to rent a metal detector and searched the area and still had no success.  He finally gave up and decided that the ring was lost for good.  When he told me, I wasn’t sure that a metal detector would pick up platinum so I did a search online for lost platinum ring and I stumbled upon Jim’s blog.  I sent him a quick e-mail asking if it would be worth it for him to come out if my husband had already searched with a metal detector.  Jim wrote back right away saying that the skill of the detector had a lot to do with the ability to find things, so I figured we’d give him a try.  Jim came out about a week later on St. Patrick’s day with his friend Lance.  They both brought their metal detectors and after my husband gave them a description of his yard work activities they began searching in what they thought were the most likely areas to find the ring: over in the area where he was throwing weeds and in the area he had been planting the grass.  Maybe 15 minutes after they arrived, I started to head out to meet them and my husband said to me “I hope you don’t get your hopes up.”  I said I hadn’t, but I really had!  I stepped outside and asked if they had any luck yet and they said they had found it already!!  It was located in the area where my husband had been planting grass and was under about an inch of dirt.  My husband and I couldn’t believe that they had found it so quickly!  I think it took longer to write this letter than  it took for them to find the ring.  I later realized that it was the 5th anniversary of us getting engaged.  So five St. Patrick’s days ago he had given me an engagement ring and on this one, he had gotten his wedding ring back!  Now St. Patrick’s day is twice as lucky for us.  Thanks again Jim and Lance!

There she is!

Lance and one happy camper!

Tungsten Carbide ring found in Morrison, Colorado sports complex

  • from Denver (Colorado, United States)

Andy's ring

Monday October 17th while playing in a rousing game of kickball on a cool and crisp night Andy lost his tungsten carbide wedding band. He had played in a couple of games before noticing that his ring had gone missing. He was pretty upset as he had been married for less than two months. Over a dozen people helped to look for the ring that evening but they had no luck in finding the ring.

The next day he placed an ad on Craigslist noting the location of the sports complex, a description of the ring and his contact information. This is where I came into play; I normally check the ads on Craigslist to see if there is a need for my services. Tuesday morning I noticed Andy’s ad and researched the park as I do not live in or visit that side of the Denver metropolitan area very often. I called and left Andy a message asking for more information as I wished to narrow down the area of my search. I printed a map of the area and prepared my equipment for my upcoming search.

Upon finding the park I noticed that there were several ballparks within this sports complex, luckily Andy’s ad mentioned which ballpark he was in when he lost his ring. Time did not allow me to search very long as I had other obligations but I was hopeful that I could find Andy’s ring in the time I had. I proceeded to search the designated field without luck. I called Andy and informed him I was unsuccessful but that I would be back to search again.

Late Wednesday morning I finished up my “honey-do” list and prepared my equipment for another trek to search for Andy’s ring. Just as I was about to leave Andy called me to let me know that he had gone back out to the sports complex the night before and that his ad mentioned the wrong ball field.  The ball field that I needed to search was one field to the east of the one mentioned in the ad. Upon arriving at the park at I set up my equipment and began my search at the proper ball field. Within 15 minutes of starting this search I had recovered Andy’s ring. I called him to let him know that I had his ring, we were trying to come up with a means of getting Andy his ring back because I mentioned before I don’t get to this side of town very often. It turns out that Andy’s place of work was on my way home, so I just swung by and dropped off his ring on my way home.

Ring recovered October 19, 2011.
