I got an emergency call from Alex last night; she had lost her car key in the beach sand. It was about 9:30 PM, and she had her children with her, and needed to be able to get home, so I let her know that I would be leaving for the search immediately.

When I got there they were waiting for me, and Alex took me out to where she believed the loss occurred. I began my search, and found numerous pieces of trash metal, and one house key, but not her car key. It was then that her children came down to beach, and showed us that we were searching about 60 feet off target. I went to where they showed me to search, and began another search. I worked it out one way with no key, and then worked out the other way, and after 2 passes, got a good shallow signal, scooped, and by 11:00 PM had her key.  Alex was very happy to be able get her children home. It was a great night!

White Gold Wedding Ring Lost in the Water at Redondo Beach…Found and Happily Returned.

Matt called the other day asking for help. He had been at the beach, and after applying sunscreen, went into the water. He was in about 3 feet of water when he felt his wedding ring come off of his finger. I checked, and let him know that to perform a thorough search, I would have to go at the next lowest tide, and let him know when I would be there. Matt sent me a Google Earth shot with a circled area to search, which was a great help.

I got to the beach and began my search, even though Matt was unable to be there. The lack of signals made it a virtual desert of things to find. I searched the wet slope first with only a bottle cap to show for it. I then went into the water, and on my first pass got a deep rotten pot metal earring. I continued in the line of the search, and got another deep signal. It took 4 or 5 scoops to get the item, when after the sand was washed out proved to be Matt’s ring. Matt was a bit camera shy (so you get me), but very happy, after I returned his ring. A fun day!

Matt sent the following testimonial:

Steve,

Thanks a million for finding my lost wedding band. I still cannot believe that you were able to locate it (buried under sand, in the water).

Please pass this message along to the folks who run the Ring Finders website, as you provide a very important service, for which I’m eternally grateful.

Sincerely,

Matt

Friendship Restored: Recovering Lost Rings with Expert Metal Detection in Agoura CA

  • from Santa Barbara (California, United States)

In the midst of a joyful evening shared among friends in Tommy’s backyard, a sudden gesture led to a frantic search for a lost wedding ring. As Tommy’s friend animatedly expressed himself, his ring went airborne, disappearing into the night. With uncertainty shrouding the exact location of the ring, Tommy wasted no time in reaching out to me for assistance.

Arriving at the scene, I was met with a challenging search area: a 200-square-foot planter filled with rose bushes and bark, accompanied by interference from nearby metal objects. Undeterred by the obstacles, I embarked on a meticulous search, scouring the area on hands and knees with a handheld pinpointer.

Despite thorough efforts, the elusive ring remained hidden among the thorny bushes. Determined to succeed, I employed advanced metal detection techniques, carefully sweeping the area with my Minelab Equinox 800. After an hour of relentless searching, success finally smiled upon us as a distinct tone led me to the ring, delicately ensnared on a rose bush branch.

In a heartwarming twist, the search yielded not one, but three rings—each intricately entangled within the foliage. As we marveled at the unexpected discovery, a sense of relief washed over us, knowing that the cherished symbol of friendship and commitment had been reclaimed.

This experience serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of acting swiftly when faced with a lost ring. Time is of the essence in the quest for recovery. If you find yourself in a similar predicament, don’t hesitate to contact me at 805-290-5009. I got a call from Bella yesterday about the loss of her ring in the sand of the beach. Her mother had given her the ring two years prior, and it had a lot of sentimental value to her. She had put it in her bag, and sometime while removing things from the bag the ring fell out into the thick soft sand, and disappeared. I told her I would be there as soon as possible.

When I got to the beach, I walked out and found Bella and her friend. They showed me where they believed the ring fell out of the bag, and I could see the drag marks in the sand where they had been searching for it. I turned on the detector, and began my search. I found one piece of scrap metal, and then a couple of passes more, got a good clear signal, dug, and in the scoop was Bella’s ring which I immediately held up for her. She came right over very happy, and I dropped the ring in her hand. She seemed very relieved that I was able to find this gift from her mother. A great day!

Yard Search at Los Angeles Church for Nails and Other Dangerous Metalic Items.

Keith called me for a search of a church rectory and children’s play yard. The rectory had recent work, and they were worried about nails and other pointy things left over from the construction, and he also wanted me to check the play yard for dangerous items. I let him know this would be possible, and we arranged a time to meet.

When I got to the church, Keith met me, and showed me where to search. I began, and found that there were many deep items, but not much surface items, but I was able to find some around the rectory. After searching the rectory, we went over to the play area, where in the crumbled tire mulch that surrounded the equipment I was able to find many items that could have caused serious injury to the children. After I finished Keith seemed very happy to know that the children would be safer.

Lost Gold Ring, Summer Village Of Yellowstone Alberta.

I received a call from Darren requesting my service to locate his grandmother’s wedding ring which was handed down to his daughter. Darren’s son and daughter where play fighting in the front yard. His daughter had two rings on her finger and both of them fell off. Luckily they found one ring but Darren and his kids searched the area on their hands and knees for hours with no luck. What made the search more difficult is that the ring is yellow gold and that the grass is still yellow from our long winters. His daughter was devastated that her great grandmother’s ring was missing.

When Darren called I assured him that if the ring was in his yard I would find it. Yellowstone is 45 miles from me so I told Darren I would be in his yard within one hour. Darren showed me the area where one ring was found, and within a half hour I found the ring outside the area where they searched. I called Darren over to show him the spot where the ring was, and how well it blended into the ground. That moment made his day.

Thank you Darren for entrusting me to locate a very sentimental ring of your daughter’s Great Grandmother.

Lost Wedding Ring On The Beach At Pine Knoll Shores Found With Metal Detector, Returned

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

On Steven’s birthday (Friday), Steven’s family met up with two other sets of friends to celebrate the fact that all 3 families had children born last year and were planning to make this an annual family vacation.  Pine Knoll Shores, NC’s ocean beach was the site of the first celebration.  Steven did not want to chance losing his ring in the ocean so he placed it in a “secure” bag.  While packing up gear on the beach to head back to his car, he grabbed the ring bag and picked up his 8 month old and proceeded back to the car.  Once he arrived at the walkway over the dunes, he noticed the bag was empty.  Sunday morning, Steven had found TheRingFinders.com and contacted me.  I had the impression that Steven did not have much hope of finding his platinum ring now lost 2 days.  The search area was long and it took about 2 hours before the solid tone on my Minelab CTX-3030 metal detector warned me to stop and investigate.  Steven had just left to get his family something to eat but gladly returned to accept a link to his family!

Testimonial from Angie on my facebook page!

“I had such an amazing experience today when John and his friend Rich came to look for my ring! I had lost all hope I’ve had someone else come to search for it before and I had such low expectations. I was just going to try it as a last resort but gosh am I glad I did! They started searching and I was watching for a bit just to see if they would get anything quickly. I then went to the grocery store with the kiddos because I needed to grab a few things. Rich texted me to see if I was coming back soon and told him I was checking out at the register. Came home and John told me that rich wanted to ask me a question. I said of course with baby in hand walking down the yard I saw John turn his GoPro on and at first I was kind confused then I come down and Rich walks up and asks to see my picture of my ring again. Then as soon as I show him he goes looks a lot like this one doesn’t it? And I full blown cried. I am so thankfully for them today. They did an absolutely amazing job and I am so beyond thankful. I cannot express it enough!! These guys will find it if you can’t! I promise you! Thank you again so much.”

Hearing Aid Lost in Yard in La Canada, CA…Found and Returned.

I was out on the bike path of the beach yesterday getting some exercise when I received a call from Eric. Eric explained to me that he had been in his yard with some friends the other day when somehow his new hearing aid fell from his ear into the grass. He told me how they had searched, but were unable to find it. We arranged to meet today to do the search.

I got to his house as soon as I was able, and met Eric. He had his remaining hearing aid in a “Zip Lock” bag waiting for me so I could check to see if my detector would be able to pick it up. I laid it out on the grass of his yard, and scanned it, there was enough metal for it to see. I then checked it with my pin pointer, also a good signal. Eric showed me where he had been most of the day, so I began my search checking each good signal, but it was not in that area. I then began moving out of the box. Eric showed me where he had raked the leaves and debris to the edge, so I made sure to check there as well, no hearing aid. As soon as I moved out of the area he had showed me I got another good signal, put in my pin pointer, and there it was. The color was somewhat neutral, so it really blended in with the surrounding grass and dirt, but there it was. I brought it over to Eric, who was very happy to have it found. I was great to be able to help him out; a fine day!

Eric sent the following testimonial:

“I cannot say enough about how lucky I feel that I found Steve Smith via Ringfinders network. A relatively new and expensive hearing aid somehow fell out of my ear while having a small , “social distancing” cocktail with friends in our backyard recently. My wife and I raked and raked the grass with expectation that we would find it-but failed. I then decided to try to rent a metal detector to search again by myself-but, found that to be a tough process. And, as my new hero Steve pointed out, I would have had trouble learning how to use it. I found Steve via a Google Search and the rest was history. We live in Pasadena area Foothills-which is a long schlep for Steve-but he drove over the next day. He is a class act and a real gentleman and he found the device after almost an hour of very dedicated searching. My only “quibble” with Steve’s services is that he lets the customer decide on payment. I decided to both pay him, and then make a donation to a charity that he chose. Eric”

I got a call from Liz’s boyfriend last night about 9:30 PM regarding a ring she lost at the beach earlier. She had been down on the sand enjoying the cool of the evening after a hot day, and also enjoying the bioluminesence show that we have been experiencing lately. After we talked, he had her call me to explain the loss and answer some questions she had regarding our service. After a few minutes of discussion we agreed to meet at the beach as soon as I could get there.

I got to the area at about 10:00 PM, and met Liz and her father, and they took me out to where they remembered being when they were out earlier. She showed me what had happened, that with a flip of the wrist the ring was gone. She had a good idea of where it landed, but was unable to find it, even though she diligently searched for it. I turned on the detector, and in two passes got a good clean signal, and dug. I seemed to move the item around, so I had to scoop a couple more times. In the bottom of the scoop was a real cool looking gold ring with a topaz stone. She was very excited to know that it was found, and it was nice to know that she was going to sleep well last night.
