Zack called me to ask if I could help in finding his lost wedding ring. I was more than happy to offer my services. He had been in his small back yard throwing a ball to his child, when he felt his ring come off. He heard it hit the fence where there was a narrow area for plants, but he searched to avail, even with a rented metal detector. I was on my way.

When I got there, Zach let me into the yard. It was surely small, and the grass area was Astro Turf which could not hide the ring, so the only possibility was the narrow planting area which was next to the fence. That area was covered in wood chips that does provide cover for lost items, but they were pretty tightly packed. There were some small bushes that you could pretty much see through, and one good sized rubber tree. I scanned the wood chips, the small bushes also using the pin pointer, and then moved to the rubber tree. I searched around the tree, and then used the pin pointer to go into the leaf joints. I Started working around the back side of the tree, when right next to the tree in the dead leaves my pin pointer went off. I reached in, and moved the leaves around, and spotted the ring. I brought it out and gave it to Zach. He was so surprised, because he had searched the area, even with his rented metal detector, but came up empty. We as Ring Finders are very good at what we do. Do not hesitate to call if you need something found!

I received a text from Dustin about his lost wedding ring wondering if I would be available to do a search for him. He had been out on a Los Angeles mountain trail, with his child, when they found a tree swing. Dustin said he believed that the ring was lost while he was pushing his child on the swing which sounded very logical to me, because it is something that you do out of the ordinary that usually causes the ring to come off the finger. We arranged to meet the next day for the search.

When I got to the trailhead Dustin was waiting for me. I got my equipment together, and we walked up the trail. When we arrived at the tree swing there were a lot of trees in the area, as well as weeds surrounding the swing. When I began I started by searching the weeds on the perimeter, and worked my way in, in a circular pattern towards the center where the swing was. There were some items in the area that I was finding such as bottle caps, and pull tabs that slowed the process a bit, but I kept to the plan. it was after about 3 times around, Ii got a great repeating signal, put my pin pointer in, and found Dustin’s ring. He was very excited to have it back, as I was to be the one to give it back to him; it made for a great day!

II got a contact from Betty about her husband’s lost wedding. They had been at the beach that day, and it was dropped somewhere in the sand where they had been sitting, but they had been unable to find it. They wanted to arrange a time the next morning to do a search, but I convinced them, even though it might be a little late and dark to do the search to eliminate the possibility of another metal detectorist of finding the ring early in the morning. So I was on my way.

When I arrived, I met Betty and her husband Jack. We walked out to the area of the loss. It took a few minutes to find the exact area in the darkness even though they had marked it, but we were successful. I began my search, working in a tight grid, and after a few quiet passes, I got the signal I was wanting. I scooped the sand, and had Jack’s ring. I showed them, and they were very excited. It was then that they told me they had been married only 4 1/2 months, so I was happy to return that very precious memory, and token of love to them in such a short time. Time is the enemy in a recovery, so CALL NOW, don’t wait.

Betty sent the following testimonial:

Steve aka Life Saver!!! Thank you so so incredibly much for helping my husband and I locate his wedding band in the pitch dark at Malibu beach! Steve knew the beach so well and helped us find the ring in less than 1 minute. (We had narrowed it down to a box of where we knew it was) My husband and I would highly recommend this service and Steve was a true pleasure.
Thank you,
Elizabeth

I received a contact from Linda about a lost ring in the sand at the beach. Her husband had given her his ring to hold when he went down to the water, and while he was gone, she flipped her hand, and the ring that she had placed on her finger went into the soft sand, and disappeared. I was free, and left immediately to do the search to make sure that it would be found.

When I got to the beach it was very windy, and I found Linda and her husband David on the berm that the county erects yearly to stop any possibility of flooding during the stormy Winter months. They had not left the area of the loss, so I knew that the search should be successful, it was just a matter of not being confined to a box search, but allowing for any possibility to have occurred. I began the search, and went over a shoe they had placed as a border, and got a signal. I moved the shoe, and dug, but came up empty. Thinking that maybe the shoe might have been the signal, I went out for one pass of the grid, and came back. I went over once more where the shoe had been, the signal came up again, I dug again, and there it was, David’s ring. The place where the ring was lost was small, so I was very certain it would be recovered. I then found out that they had only been married one month, so Linda must have been heart broken to have lost David’s ring. Well it was my pleasure to restore some joy in their lives that day!

Ryan contacted me about his wedding ring lost in the surf while he was swimming at the beach. It was a matching ring to his wife’s, and not one that he wanted to lose. I let him know that we had to wait a while for the tide to drop to allow a thorough search of the area, because the tide was high when the ring was lost.

When I got there Ryan met me, and took me to the area of the loss. He showed me what had happened, and where he thought the ring came off. I began my grid up and down the beach, and into the water, as I had to be sure to cover all the sand possible. The beach was sanded in, so there was a lack of signals, just a lot of quiet as I was searching. I kept making my grid, line after line, and fighting the moving water as I went into the surf, then after a long stretch, I got a good signal, dug, and there it was, Ryan’s ring. He had left, because he had a party to attend, so he was not able to see me bring it up out of the sand, but I sent him a text with a picture of his ring and he got right back to me. We arranged to make the return, on their way to the party, and ended a very happy day.

I was contacted by Adam concerned about the loss of his father Jerry’s ring. This turned out to be a ring that Jerry’s wife had custom made for him over 50 years ago. This was a ring that had so much sentimental value that literally made it priceless. It had one large stone with tiny rubies surrounding it. Jerry had been out in his yard enjoying working in the garden, and when he was done his precious gift was gone. They had been looking for the ring for at least 5 days already. Adam and I arranged a search, set a time, and I was on my way.

When I arrived, Adam was working to get a detector ready for a search. We talked, and he took me around showing me where his father had been working in the garden, and I could see a whole bunch of loss possibilities. There was one area that he seemed to be more concerned with, so I began in that area. I searched the deep grass on the edge of the area first, no ring. I then went into the flower bed, and began using the pin pointer to work in and around the Lily of the Nile (Agapanthus) plants that were in that part of the yard. It was when I put the pin pointer into the middle of one of the plants that my device sounded off. I began to spread the leaves, and down in the middle of the plant, deep, and under some dead leaves the glimmer of gold caught my eye. I brought it over to Jerry’s son to show him, and he was so happy to see it again, and very happy for his father. When Jerry saw it again, he just couldn’t believe it, he was resigning himself to figure it was gone forever.  I think that without the pin pointer, the ring might never have been found due to where it was located. Jerry had been tossing plant food across the yard when his ring must have flown off, and went into the plant. I later found out that Jerry is a renown singer song writer with such classic hits to his name as Travelin’ Man (Ricky Nelson), and Young Girl (Gary Puckett and The Union Gap). I was so happy to be able to reunite Jerry and his ring.

LOST HEIRLOOM GOLD RING HONEYMOON ISLAND…FOUND!!!

LOST A RING OR OTHER METAL VALUABLE? PLEASE CALL ME ASAP ANYTIME (843)995-4719

THIS IS A FREE SERVICE, REWARD OPTIONAL BUT APPRECIATED

The Right Place at the Right Time!

I was detecting a section of Honeymoon Island called Dog Beach nearing sunset when I received a call from my sister with information about my father who was recovering from COVID. As I was speaking to her, two women approached me and asked if I helped people find lost rings. I was wearing my Dunedin Ring Finder cap at the time so I pointed to it and said “As a matter of fact…”. This is the second time in the last six months that I was detecting on my own when I came upon someone who needed my services.

As it turns out, a family of four (last name Beebe) with their two dogs were on the beach with a professional photographer at sunset when the son dropped his great grandfather’s gold and black onyx ring in the sand. Despite the fact that they were certain the ring was in an area of about 6’x6’, the Beebe family was unable to locate the ring after a frantic search. After about a two minute search, I got a 21 signal on my Equinox 600, then pin pointed the target and pulled the ring from the sand. What a joyous reunion! The photographer was pleased because she was working to take some great shots of the family in various locations as the sun was setting and needed to get back to work quickly. I took a picture of the ring at recovery, the photographer took a picture of me with the smiling son and the ring and she promised to send the recovery photo to me after I gave her my Ring Finder card. The photographer did not have any of her business cards with her and unfortunately I didn’t get her full name.

As of the date of this post, I have not received my promised photo and I have not been able to identify the photographer. If I “recover” this photo, I will update this post for the smile picture!

Gold and Diamond Wedding Band Lost in Snow, Found and Returned in Paoli, PA

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Vijay found me via The Ring Finders Directory. He texted me looking for help in locating his lost gold and diamond wedding band. We spoke on the phone and he told me he was on an early morning walk around his neighborhood in Paoli, PA admiring the snow that was really coming down hard. He went to take a picture with his phone and while reaching for the phone he felt his ring fall off his finger straight down into the 8 or more inches of snow at his feet. At the time he didn’t have gloves on so he went home to get gloves so he could dig around and find the ring but by the time he got back…uh oh…the plow came through. I live about 15-20 minutes from Paoli so I was there within 30 minutes. First thing Vijay said to me was that next week is his 1 year wedding anniversary…and he made it clear the ring must be found! We met at the area where he dropped the ring, it was a parking lot of a school, and he showed me exactly where the ring was dropped. It was clear that the ring was definitely swept away by the plow and most likely was in one of the 3-4 foot mounds of snow near where the drop occurred. I had 2 detectors with me…One with a small coil and one with a larger coil. I started searching first with the larger coil but it was tough going and I couldn’t sweep the mound very effectively. I switched to the smaller coil and after each pass without a signal I took my shovel and dug the mound down by a foot or so. The detector depth is only a foot so I was assuming the ring was probably deeper toward bottom of the mound. After 20 minutes and on my 3rd pass I finally got a really good signal(a 22 on my Equinox 800). I called Vijay over and told him I’m liking this signal…we looked together as I dug down in snow. We were both elated to see his bright yellow gold band appear! I tell this to people all the time…being a Ringfinder is a lot “funner” when you are able to come through for the person! I’m so happy that Vijay can celebrate his 1 year anniversary next week with his beautiful band on his finger.
