Just after finding the two rings that Jordin lost in Newport Beach, I recieved a phone call from Kattie. She had been searching the internet to rent a metal detector. She got a hold of a dealer in New Jersey, Demarco Detector Sales. Joe Demarco told her about TheRingFinders and Kattie called me.
I was able to set an 11:00am meeting at Doheny Beach which is in Dana Point, CA. Kattie and her friend Rene drove down from Marina Del Rey, CA. which is probably 60 miles the other side of Los Angeles. I drove about 25 miles to meet them.
When they got there, I was told that Sunday they came to Doheny Beach so Kattie could do a some surfing. Doheny is a great place to learn to surf. When Kattie went into the ocean she gave her ring to Rene for safe keeping. Rene put it on her finger and not being use to wearing a ring she did not notice that the ring had slipped off her finger until after Kattie came out of the water.
The best part of the story was Rene had remembered exactly where she had been and I was able to find the ring within a few minutes. They both were very excited and really didn’t believe I could find it. Then they both gave me giant hugs. Rene was no longer guilty and the ring was back on Kattie’s finger where it belongs.. It was a pleasure to help two very nice ladies. They took a few minutes to listen to my RingFinders stories and do the photo opp, which is part of my deal with them..
Lindsay called about her lost Platinum Wedding Ring at a park in Maple Grove Minnesota. Her and her family were out enjoying a picnic when she was attacked by a wasp. Like most people, Lindsay frantically swatted at the critter and off flew her Wedding Ring. This was a specially made Platinum ring that had her husbands finger prints etched into it. A one of a kind ring, that’s for sure. I drove up to the park to meet Lindsay’s husband Joe. On the way, a fellow ring finder, Scott Juusola called me and said he was very close to the park; filling some scuba tanks. I asked him to join the hunt as parks have a lot trash, coins and pull tabs and that it can get very difficult to find a ring. Joe showed us the area by some picnic tables and we started the search. It took about 3 minutes and there it was. I believe Joe told me that it was either their anniversary or Lindsay’s B-Day tommorow (sorry I can’t remember, old timer with a bad memory) Hope this recovery helps make your day special.

Barbra was just getting ready to dive into the water for her daily swim when she noticed she was still wearing her cherished diamond pendant. She turned around on the dock and headed for her condo. As she crossed a grass area she removed the chain that was holding the pendant but when she looked into her hand the pendant was not there. She frantically looked all around the area, including the dock but could not find it. Her granddaughter had just recently moved in with her and started searching the internet and soon found The Ringfinders. Barbra contacted us and a team went out that evening to see if they could find it. We had no luck that evening so we returned the next day with a gold nugget detector and soon found it hidden in the grass. What fun it was to see the smile on Barbra’s face when I reached up, saying it was just another piece of tin foil, and dropped the pendant into her hand.

Playa Mujeres-Cancun, Mexico (Vacation)
I debated taking a metal detector on my vacation to Playa Mujeres Cancun Mexico, but opted to pack up the Excalibur II and see if it could learn to speak Spanish.
As relaxation kept me pre-occupied, I waited until the last day of my vacation to break out the Excalibur II. I spent a little less than 4 hours playing around in about 3 foot of clear water. The bottom was surprising clean, and most finds were of interest.
Surprisingly enough, most of my finds were American coins, not that of the local currency.
I recovered three rings during that run, two of them were Tungsten, and one 14kt with 9 Diamonds.
Checked with the Resort, and was unsuccessful at finding a report of the ring being reported lost.
No telling how long it had been in the sand, but it now has a new home in Texas. Now wishing I would have started detecting on day 1.
Minelab had just recently provided me with this replacement Excalibur II, and it worked great.
After a good cleaning and polishing.

Lost Diamond Wedding Ring Lake Livingston, Texas
Received a call from Mike in Kingwood, Texas regarding his wife’s lost Gold Wedding Ring. Mike reported while swimming in Lake Livingston his wife lost her ring. Mike said he was pretty sure she lost the ring on a sand bar in the lake where they had spent most of the day.
I made the trip with Mike up to the lake and spent 6 hours in the water with the new (replacement) Excalibur II and could not find the ring, The plus, the Excalibur II ran like a champ, and the pictured ring was found while searching for my clients ring.

It was an unfortunate out-come, but Mike was very grateful for the extraordinary effort.

Received a call from Kathy who advised her husband had lost his wedding ring in the backyard of their residence. Kathy said her husband was shooting some hoops when the ring had come off his finger and disappeared in the grass. Kathy said they were unsuccessful at finding the ring and later found www.theringfinders.com on an internet search..

Joyce was dead heading her flowers on her second floor deck and was tossing them over the deck railing, you get the picture, the Ring went with it. Joyce enquired about renting a metal detector and was told they are not easy to use, they take much practice.
Joyce Kopan Emailed after her sister saw the article in the Saanich News about my metal detecting. I called her and arranged a meeting after the rains stopped, it had been three weeks so a few more days would not change too much.
Well today the Sun came out and I headed over to Joyce’s house. After a quick demonstration on how and where Joyce lost her ring I got to work.
There was far too much junk in the ground to use my detector so I got on hands and knees and used my pin-pointer. After about twenty minutes I moved to the neighbors yard , Bingo I found it.
Joyce was so happy she had to hug me, thanks Joyce, I enjoyed this hunt!
We just found a ring today that was lost for 7 years. A metal detecting friend of ours named Mike had a son-in-law who lost his ring while changing oil in his car. His son-in-law has since passed away and Mike wanted to find the ring for his grandson who was 9 years old at the time the ring was lost. Mike wanted to find the ring to give his grandson as a keepsake of his fathers. Mike is legally blind and needs a little help getting his detector gear ready. We, (Dave B. and myself), got started at a mobile home park in Kentwood, MI. We spread out on the small lot which was now vacant and about 20 minutes into the hunt Mike came up with a beautiful gold ring with 6 diamonds. We continued to detect around the lot and the adjacent lot to see what else we could find. After coming up with coins, toy cars and pull tabs we went over to his daughters and presented her the ring. The following pictures says it all, the ring and Mike with his daughter.
John and his recently married wife had just returned from their honeymoon and were settling into their home together. They decided to take a break and spend a day at the beach. After they arrived at Maderia Beach and setup a spot on the beach they ventured out into the water. They were just cooling down in neck deep water when John’s wife noticed his wedding ring was missing. They tried to locate the ring in the murky water but had no luck. John’s wife found us on the Ringfinders site and contacted us. We responded the next day with a small team and in about an hour we recovered the ring. Needless to say, John was overjoyed!
