Lost Gold Wedding Band at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki……FOUND!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

I got a call from Ken while at work and he wanted to know if I could look for his ring at Hilton Hawaiian Village. He lost the ring two days prior and that area is one of the most detected areas in Waikiki. My fear was someone already found it and he would never get it back. The surf has been pounding the South shore so there was a chance the regular Waikiki detectorists might have been taking a break. I told Ken I would meet him after work and give it my best shot. We met at 4PM on the beach and I was elated to find out Ken had lost his ring in the rocky area of the beach. That area is very difficult to detect in as there are many large coral rocks and most of the detectorists avoid it. Ken explained that he was in no deeper than 4 feet of water and between two coral outcroppings on the shoreline. So I went to work. Unfortunately I only found coins, pull tabs and a bottle cap. I asked Ken lets think this over where did you spend the most time? He said probably in the sandy area near the wave break where he was getting thrown around. I said OK I’m going to concentrate there and not go into the rocky area. An hour had already passed and I could see the anxiety on their faces. I needed to find this ring. I started a wave curl search as the surf was pounding the shore. On the return leg a little farther into the sand at the half point between Ken’s marks I got that beautiful “GOLD” tone. After two scoops I saw a ring. I motioned Ken over and asked him to describe the ring again please. White gold with two rose colored bands going through it he said. Sure enough that is what was in my scoop. I pulled the ring out and handed it to Ken. You know that look we treasure so much well Ken was beaming with joy that I finally found his ring. I found out from talking to Ken and his lovely wife Malette that they had just gotten married and only had the ring for a day when it was lost. What a happy ending to a wonderful vacation in Hawaii. Aloha to Ken and Malette.

Lost engagement ring Found at La Jolla Shores

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Shortly after returning home from metal detecting for fun all morning with some of my fellow Ring Finders, I received a call from Mariana who had lost her engagement ring in the dry sand at La Jolla Shores. I told her I would meet her there in a half hour or so. I then put my cold drink back in the fridge, gathered my gear, and headed back out for what I hoped would be an easy return. As it turned out, that’s exactly what it was. Mariana had taken her ring off before going into the ocean, but, her hands were slippery with lotion, and the ring fell into the sand.  She showed me the area where she was standing when this happened and after maybe 10 seconds, I got a weak low tone in my E-trac that has said “small gold” in the past. I poked my Uniprobe down about 4-5 inches and found the ring. Mariana and her fiance’ were very happy as they are to be wed the first of August. On the way out, I stopped by the lifeguard stand and thanked them for the referral, then headed back home for that long awaited cold drink! I’m glad I could be a small chapter in this ring’s story and help it continue it’s journey into a full novel. My pleasure meeting you, thank you for the reward, and best wishes for your future together.

Lost rings found at North Avenue Beach Chicago

  • from Las Vegas (Nevada, United States)

Got a call at 8:30AM on Sunday, Fathers Day.
Woman was very upset that she lost both her wedding band and her engagement ring at North Ave Beach on Saturday. Took off her rings to put on lotion and forgot they were on her lap. She was leaving Chicago shortly on Sunday. Time was of the essence.  Didn’t want to break the news to her husband on Father’s Day that she lost both rings. Since they were white gold and I didn’t know how small they were, I decided to take the XP Deus and hunt in 18kHz. They had been searching the area 3 different times and lots of people had been trying to help her find them. I gridded off the area that she had been in. They were both down about 5 inches. Probably because people had been moving the sand around. Both rings came in at 45 in my ring program that Andy Sabisch helped me set up at his XP Deus Bootcamp. As you can see the wedding band was very thin, although covered in diamonds. Don’t think I would have found it if I had not been in 18kHz. Found it in less than 10 minutes.
The owner was in tears she was so relieved. She kept saying that I saved her. She was so excited to get the rings back on her hands that you can still see the sand on them!  It’s great to be able to help people. What a great hobby. Thanks Andy, thanks XP Deus team, thanks Ron Shore from Windy City Detector Sales and Rental, and special thanks to The Ringfinders Database so she could find me.

Another happy day seeing an owner reunited with her ring today!

My neighbor and longtime friend referred me to a woman who was urgently needing to find a ring she had lost while gardening, and didn’t know how to go about finding it. The ring was an older, monogrammed gold ring. It was given to her by her Great Aunt, so it had lots of sentimental meaning to her. My neighbor told her “I know just the person who can find it for you, he has metal detectors and belongs to The Ring Finders”. She called me and I went to her house shortly after to do the search.

After a quick search, it was back on her finger! She was very happy to get it back, especially because the area around her home has many tenants and she didn’t want it going into the wrong hands.

I’m also excited, because she has invited me to come back someday and detect around her home, which is over 100 years old. I’m sure that we will find many interesting things that will bring the history of the house alive.

Lost Texas Tech Class Ring at Construction Site (Found) Houston, Texas

06/19/2015

I was contacted by Max regarding his Lost Texas Tech Class Ring at a  residential construction site in Houston,Texas. Max said he was assisting in the pouring of a new concrete foundation at the location when he lost his ring.

Max said he felt pretty sure his ring came of his hand somewhere between the edge of the foundation they were pouring and the roadway where his truck was parked.

06/20/2015

I met with Max at the construction today and we walked through the areas he believed he may have lost the ring. The area around the construction site was very muddy, and I had a concern that the ring may have been stepped on and driven down deep into the mud. Max said he and a few of his co-workers had search the area for his missing ring the previous day.

Max reported his had only had his class ring for about a year, and that it had been a gift from his mother upon graduation for college.

Ring Found .. Santa Monica Beach, Ca. .. Lost in Sand

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Wednesday June 17,2015

Olga and Hector are visiting Santa Monica, Beach from New York. Hector wanted to do a little work out on the gymnastics bars and rings on the beach. He gave Olga his small gold ring to hold for him. She slipped it on her finger for safe keeping. After a half hour she realized the ring was gone. It had to be somewhere in the sand where she had been watching Hector.
Olga found TheRingFinders.com after a Google search on her iPhone. I was an hour away and after hearing her story, told her this would probably be an easy search. It was important that she stayed in the location. This will help make it a quick recovery. I was able to get to her location with the cooperation of Los Angeles freeway traffic.
I called Olga as I walked to the beach recreation equipment. She came walking out of the crowd saying she recognized me carrying my metal detector equipment. She pointed out where it might be. With less than 10 swings of my detector coil I got that sweet gold tone. Hector’s ring in the sand scoop. They gave me big Hi Fives and thanked me with a real sincerity. They even had enough time to take the walk on the Santa Monica Pier which they had planned to do before losing the ring. This never gets boring. Every search is special.

Service Ring Lost Then Returned on Treasure Island, Florida

Sean was putting his boat back on the lift when he noticed that the lift cable had coiled up on the shaft. As he was working to realign the cable his ring came off his finger and he watched as it quickly disappeared out of site in the water under the boatlift.
A couple of days later his wife Sandra found the “Ring Finders” website and contacted SRARC and spoke to Tom Jones. She explained to him that this ring had been given to her husband in 1988 by the company he worked for and it was the top award given for that year. Each time he won the same award after that the company would take the ring in and add a diamond on it. The ring contained 8 diamonds.
After hearing this Tom knew that the ring had to found and returned and he told her that the best chance to find the ring would not be until the next weekend to take advantage of an extremely low tide during daylight hours.
On June 14, Tom went to the site and measured the water depth at high tide and it was over 9’ deep. He decided to come back on Monday 6/15 and dive the site.
Tom and Joe Szemer arrived Monday to find a good low tide. Once Tom got in the water he quickly realized the he would have to dive for the ring. They brought in a compressor and regulator and Tom dropped in and anchored himself to the bottom and started hunting. He found that the bottom consisted of 10” of gelatinous silt with a hard sand bottom. After 10 minutes searching the bottom with his detector he got a good target and started feeling through the muck until he found the ring. Tom returned to the surface wearing the ring on his pinkie finger showing it to Joe who in turn gave Sean and Sandra the thumbs up signal.
They could not believe that the ring had been found and his memento of 28 years of service was back on his finger.
That was quite the recovery…Nice job Tom and Joe!

Lost rings at La Jolla Shores Found!

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Andrea removed her rings and placed them in a sweater pocket while at a picnic with her friends. Since it was too hot a day to actually wear the sweater, she had it tied around her waist. When she was told about some crabs coming ashore, she sprinted down to the waters edge to see them. This entailed running across a short section of grassy park, scaling a sea wall, and then 100 yards or so of sand. After a while, she returned to the picnic table in the park. A 1/2 hour later, she discovered that her rings were gone out of her pocket. She remembered that the sweater was falling off as she ran but didn’t think to check the pocket until now. So, it could be in the grass or short bushes in the park, by the sea wall, in the dry sand, or at the waters edge. The park has real short grass, so, if lost there, it was probably spotted and picked up by someone. Same with the park side of the sea wall as it’s a paved walkway. I decided to hunt the football field size area of dry sand first. After about 45 minutes to an hour of gridding, starting from the sea wall and heading to the wet sand, I got a nice strong and shallow signal about 3/4 of the way to the water that resulted in both rings in one scoop. A stunned and happy Andrea had her rings back as a roar of cheers came from her church group when they heard the good news. Now she could go back and enjoy the party! Pleasure to meet you folks and thank you for the reward.
