Lost White Gold Ring Found!! In Post Falls Idaho

  • from Spokane (Washington, United States)

Today was a day of metal detecting for me. I started off by diving in a lake looking for a wedding ring lost 2 years ago to which I didn’t find. After coming home and cleaning up my gear I wrote a lady back who asked if I would travel to Post Falls, Idaho for a ring search. After dinner my Family and I went to a newly discovered park near our house to play. I was swinging my Whites detector around the playground when Charlayne, the lady who wrote me from Post Falls, called. I asked a few questions and found out that she had lost her ring in the front yard or the back after placing it in her pocket with a hole at the bottom. She also told me that she had rented a metal detector and raked both yards with no luck. I said I would be right over. My family and I drove 32 minutes to reach her house. After putting on my gear and seeing a picture of the ring Charlayne left me to my work. Which was a short job. I made my way from the front steps to the mail box like Charlayne said she had done and found a small foil wrapping under a fresh dug hole. So I made a second pass on the other side back to the steps and then back down for a third pass. I was about half way to the mail box when WHAM!! A solid 13-14 vdi at depth of 0 inches rang up and my pinpointer showed me why well cared for grass hides rings the best. After taking a picture of the ring hidden in the grass I smiled at my wife who was watching me from the car. I then headed to the back of the house to find Charlayne, her face went from worried anticipation to fourth of July fire work happy. After I showed her the spot where her ring had fallen out of the hole in her pocket and hid from her for a week; we said our goodbyes and took her advice to have some ice cream at Rogers. Thanks for the suggestion Charlayne and for trusting in The Ring Finders to find what you lost.

Lost Diamond Ring in New Westminster, BC…Found!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Yesterday I got a call from a young man who needed my help to find his girlfriends 2 rings that she tossed out of his SUV while driving down the road. People are human, its true! They get mad and when they get mad in most cases rings go flying! I’ve had many calls over the years for these types of recoveries. I’d say most times I’m unsuccessful because of the locations I search are not metal detector friendly. “NEWS FLASH” (While writing this post the couple called me and said that the other ring was found in their home! She has no idea how it showed up there as she is certain she threw it out the window with the other ring…Makes me feel much better! I hate the thought of not finding what I’m looking for).

Well that makes it a happy ending! I have met so many nice people over the years doing what I do and I look forward to meeting many more!

Here’s the couple and her beautiful diamond ring.

Diamond Ring Found and Returned in the Sand at Kukio Beach, Big Island, Hawaii

RIGHT WHERE WE SAID IT WASN’T!

Memory is a funny thing, especially under stress. So I often end up finding rings outside where they are “sure” to be!
So was it with Jayce and Jacqueline’s ring!

Jacqueline called me and I could hear in her voice she was feeling almost sick to her stomach.

It was her – and her extended family’s – first day in Hawaii and they’d gone to a tiny beach in the exclusive Kokio area to enjoy the ocean.

She’d noticed her wedding and engagement rings were loose, so carefully took them off – and also took Jayce’s wedding band – and placed them all in a pocket in her bag under the tree her large family was sheltering under.

She was thinking about the rings for a long time while enjoying the water and sunbathing – and sure enough, when she checked they were safe-and-sound, saw that her diamond ring was missing! How could it have fallen out?!

Her husband Jayce and other relatives of the family looked for hours through the sand under the little tree where they had lost the ring. Carefully they made a pile of stones and debris outside the area Jacqueline had been in, as they carefully sifted the sand with their fingers.

When they called me, they’d all but given up hope. I got there just an hour before sunset so got right to work. I decided to search where they were sure she’d lost it. Carefully, I made a careful search, being sure not to leave an inch uncovered. Every time I dug, Jacqueline’s father came over to inspect, disappointed over and over at the pennies and other junk I uncovered. Jacqueline couldn’t watch the repeated false alarms.

As I often do, I expanded my search area beyond where the ring is “sure to be”. I carefully searched the pile of rubble they’d made and listened carefully in case it was under it. “It’s not going to be there,” a few of them said as I got even further from the tree.

Then…I heard gold in the headphones and looked at her father. Jacqueline’s sister saw the look too and I dug with my sand scoop, ran over to see. On my third scoop, a diamond wedding ring…! Her father reached in and pulled it out. Suddenly they were all clapping and laughing – “It wasn’t there all along!” They almost cried in unison!

In the end, what had made the carefully placed ring disappear? A tiny hole in her bag had let the ring slip out.

The family left and I took a few photos of the quiet beach – and the little rock pile and said our little slogan – “We Save Marriages!” Glad to have looked for the ring where it wasn’t!

Found Wedding Ring In Old Vermont Mill Town

  • from Barre (Vermont, United States)

Yesterday morning, while I was at work, I got an email and a voicemail from a woman very much needing help finding her wedding ring. She had been working in their back yard moving branches and brush. She rented a metal detector and searched with that as well as by eye. Her property has been a residential yard for probably over 150 years, therefore was full of metal scraps and nails, making it very difficult for an inexperienced person to operate a metal detector. Her husband went to work, but the ring was heavy on his mind, too. He found a link to The Ring Finders website and emailed it to her.
I called her as soon as I got out of work and we made plans for me to come right away to do the search. The weather was beautiful and the drive was nice to the old Vermont mill town nestled between some very steep Green Mountains. Their house was on the edge of the town, with Springtime lush green fields, a huge barn and waterfalls in the back yard. What a place to raise their children.
She showed me the areas where it should be and I got to work. After about an hour and a half, No luck with one of my favorite detectors. The raspberry and blueberry patch was so thick I decided to use another detector with a small diameter search coil. In about a half hour I got the solid ring tone and moved the weeds and twigs and there it was!
The ring was extremely sentimental to them, because it was custom made using diamonds from a mother’s, grandmother’s and great grandmother’s old rings. It sure was beautiful. When I handed it to her she broke down with happy and relief tears and gave me a huge hug. Her husband was happy and offered up some beer to celebrate. Her older son even gave me a hug. As always, I was extremely happy for them.
They invited me to come back some day and hike the waterfalls and do some “archeological” digs on the old trail by their house and up to an old cellar hole.
I love this hobby!!

Lost Phone on Pine Knoll Shores Found on Beach

Carol’s Iphone recovered 2 days after loss

Late Thursday evening I received a call from Joe.  He stated his wife had found my number online (www.TheRingFinders.com).  He explained she had lost her cell phone on the beach the day before (Wednesday).  We agreed to meet to begin the search Friday morning.  After a few passes in the high tide zone,  my detector gave a solid signal.  My pin-pointer indicated the target was near the surface and I began to remove the sand with my hand to protect the phone from any damage.   Her phone was 5 inches below the surface.  After spending a few more minutes on the beach, I headed back and saw Carol once more talking to a neighbor.  She informed me that the phone was taking a charge.  Hopefully it will be fully functional very soon!

Lost Platinum Wedding Ring at Ala Moana Beach Park…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Paul who lost his Platinum Wedding ring while paddling out to surf on a South swell Tuesday morning. As he was approaching the reef his next stroke he noticed his ring fall into the water and slowly fade from view. He had taken this route out to surf many times so he knew exactly where the ring had fallen off. It was a low tide and the water was slightly murky but he had a good idea of the location so he got some goggles and attempted to free dive for his ring. It was 3-8 feet in the area but the ring was no where in sight. I told Paul who is a local resident we could meet in the AM and I would scuba for his ring. That morning the water was calm but the sky was overcast. I would have preferred some sunlight but you got to work with what you got. Paul and I surface swam out to the spot and Paul described to me again the details of the ring loss. I decided to start shallow and work deep although Paul was thinking the ring would be on the deep end. I fired up the Excalibur then released the air from my BC and submerged for the search. There were several coral chunks in the shallow area so I had to work around them when after only 20 seconds in the water “BOOM” a tremendous tone came over the Excal as I was passing the loop over a chunk of coral. It was about 2 feet by 1 foot in size and had several holes from the urchins throughout. There was just enough light to see down into one of those holes and there was Paul’s Platinum Wedding ring all nice and cozy perfectly fitting into the circumference of the hole. I reached inside with my finger and was able to retrieve the ring thankfully the two nubs inside the ring helped. I stood up to show Paul who was sitting on the reef no more then 15 feet away. “Here’s your ring.” Paul looked at me astonished and said, “No way really?” I handed him the ring and he was seriously relieved. Paul was kind enough to help me rinse off all my gear and get it back to my car. Paul had a big smile on his face as I saw him depart. Aloha to Paul!

On Mother’s Day, I received a call from Brigid, an upset mother who had lost both her diamond and wedding rings.  They were lost a day earlier while she was doing yard work.  The next day I went to Brigid’s home to search for both rings.  She described how she had been clearing brush and weeds, and lost the rings while piling up the refuse.  After an hour of searching the yard, I located her wedding ring.  It took an additional hour and a half to locate the diamond ring.  Brigid described the recovery as “amazing”.

Lost Gold Wedding Ring Possibly in Sand at Santa Monica Beach .. Found

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Dan and his wife Caroline had taken their two year old son, Preston to Santa Monica Beach late in the afternoon. When he returned home he discovered his gold wedding band was not on his finger. It had been a little loose lately so he believed that possibly his son may have pulled it off his finger. It had been 4 days sense the loss. Not knowing where to start searching, he went to a community forum on the internet with his frustration.

Someone on the forum recommended he go to TheRingFinders.com. Dan emailed me asking how the service works. I replied with a short explanation. I asked that he call so I can get a few clues. I also offered to begin the search without him, so he didn’t have to take time off work.
Monday morning, I talked to Dan on the phone and he said he could meet me at 3:30pm. He gave me good directions as to where he had been that Thursday afternoon, so I told him I would start grid searching a few hours early, just to eliminate some of a fairly large area.
After the first hour and a half I found a gold wedding band with an inscription inside. Directly in the path he walked to the beach front. After sending a photo and the inscription inside the ring by text and email, I didn’t get a reply.

I discontinued my grid search and started detecting away from the main location. Dan arrived at 3:30pm and we found out that the ring I found was not his. No problem because this has happened to me before. All I had to do was verify where he had been Thursday. Then resume my original grid search. Dan was disappointed and had told me that he had given up hope because there were so many unknowns. Also I don’t think he believed that a metal detector could find such a small item in a sea of dry sand, if it was there.

I tried to tell him that I could at least finish searching as it would only take me a couple more hours. I would call him when I finished. He was on his way back to his car when the magic happened. I found his wedding band. When I showed him where I found it, he remembered brushing the sand off Preston with his hand before leaving the beach.

Nevertheless we joked about me making Dan a believer that metal detectors can find rings in the sand. He was definitely a happy person after thinking that after 3 years of wearing the ring, it was lost forever.

White Gold & Diamond Engagement Ring – Lost & Found Bournemouth Beach

  • from Bournemouth (England, United Kingdom)

When Beth & husband Dan from Southampton visited Bournemouth it seemed like a perfect day lay ahead of them enjoying the beach.

Unfortunately the fun stopped when Beth felt her precious ring slip from her finger and disappear into the unforgiving soft sand. When panic sets in people lose their precise whereabouts and after some time desperately looking they succumbed to the fact it was lost.

Upon speaking with a passer by they learned of The Ring Finders & promptly gave me call. I left Home immediately & met them on the beach. The first 5 minutes proved nothing but when the search extended 5m the CTX gave the growl of gold!

They were both very relieved to have the ring back and made a kind donation to the Margret Green Animal Charity.
