14K White Gold Engagement Ring Lost in the Surf – Found and Returned Myrtle Beach S

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I received an e-mail from Mandy F. asking if I might be able to help her find her engagement ring that she lost in the surf on Saturday during her Bachelorette party. In her e-mail she stated they stayed in North Myrtle Beach but the resort she mentioned was located in Myrtle Beach. I e-mailed her back asking her to call me so I could get additional details and confirm whether the resort she had been staying at was in Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle Beach.  While I was waiting for her call, Matt Fry TRF Myrtle Beach called and asked if I had seen the listing on Craigslist about a lost engagement ring in North Myrtle Beach. After some discussion we concluded that my e-mail and the Craigslist ad was one in the same lost ring. Shortly after we hung up, Mandy called and gave me all the details which included the address for the resort which ended up being in Myrtle Beach (Matt’s area).

I called Matt back and we arranged to meet and do a combined search. We worked about 2 hours doing both north/south and east/west grids and leap frogging each other working our way north along the beach. In Mandy’s description of her location she said she was staying in one of the resorts but when her mother, friends and her went out to the beach they moved farther south because of the large crowds behind her resort. Unfortunately there were 3 or 4 resorts in a row that were associated with each other and had the same name in some variation. As a process of elimination we wanted to make sure we covered as much as we could before the tide came in and hampered our search areas plus it started pouring down rain. As Matt was moving ahead of me he was working the surf line with the incoming tide and I saw him walking up the beach with a scoop of sand, look at me and nod his head, I knew instantly that he had the ring. He had the ring cleaned off by the time I got to him. Matt and I stopped for a late lunch and called Mandy. She was ecstatic and couldn’t believe we had found it. She said she thought it was lost forever. I took a picture of her ring and sent it to her and got the following text back “Omg!!!! That’s my baby, God bless you so much!!!! You guys are truly Angels”. How can it possibly get any better than that, getting someone’s treasure back to them. Wow!!!

I’m putting the ring in the mail tomorrow so she can get it in time for her wedding in less than 2 weeks.

Mandy and James, Matt and I wish you the very best on your future and pray all your dreams come true.

Matt, as always you came through again. Many thanks for your help on this one and getting the job done!!!!

Property Markers Found In Vermont

  • from Barre (Vermont, United States)
Contact:

I was out on a ring finding mission, when a neighbor came over and asked if I could locate her property markers. Her house was for sale and it was very important that they could easily be seen by potential buyers. We could have gotten out her deed and a tape measure and gone from there, but luckily she had a real good idea where they should be, so it didn’t take us long long to find them. I just love helping people find important things!!

Extremely Sentimental Family Ring Found near Rutland Vermont

  • from Barre (Vermont, United States)

Got a call from a very distressed and heartbroken woman Thursday night. She explained to me that her elderly mother had passed away about a week earlier, and had asked that her wedding ring, that she had worn daily for a very long marriage, be given to her granddaughter. She had been wearing it while doing gardening and yard work when it came up missing. The ring wasn’t even close to fitting her!! But, I understand why she was wearing it, it was like a part of her mother and she couldn’t let go of it until it was in her daughter’s hands. I felt real bad for her and told her not to worry, we would find it. So, 2 days later I drove to her house, she walked me all around her property to show me the areas where she had been working, and then we began the hunt. She stayed right with me the whole time because she wanted to be able to see it right when it reappeared. After a long while, we got to the last area to be searched, when I got the magic tone! There it was, in perfect condition, just barely hidden in the dirt. Down came the happy tears!!! I felt so glad for her and her daughter, it was like her mother was right there looking down on us!

Commentary from client:
I don’t quite know how to thank Mike. I lost a ring that had belonged to my mother that (passed away) on Mother’s day, (and was supposed to be) passed along to my daughter. There was so much emotion tied up in the this ring with the connection to my lovely mom! I hunted for six hours on my own, digging through the gardens where I had been working, hunting through, bags of grass seed where I had been planting grass, and sifting through dirt I had dug. I rented a metal detector and came up blank. I called Mike and he kindly came as soon as he could. We spent an hour or two retracing steps and I was beginning to give up hope as I thought that I had looked pretty thoroughly….. Then we heard the beeps and Mike pulled this ring out of the dirt – in a place where I had looked three times! I was so happy I cried!!! It feels like a little part of my mom and I am so happy to be able to pass this on to my daughter. Mike is so kind and so helpful…! I am sure that he has many great stories to tell. Wonderful person!!!

Key Found In Barre VT

I got a call from a woman in Barre who lost her Toyota Prius key last Fall. She was still able to drive her car but unable to lock it for the last 8 months. She said it would cost about $200 to replace it. The area where she thought it would most likely be was next to her parking spot in a very congested neighborhood. It was a mix of gravel, flowers and grass, and about 200 years of heavy human activity…..lots of miscellaneous, overlapping scrap metal signals!! After about 2 hours of intense digging, it was starting to get dark and I was about to head home, very disappointed. But, I checked a weak, spotty signal, dug down about 2 inches and there it was! It was right where she thought it should be. A tricky but satisfying hunt!

Man’s 14K White Gold Wedding Band Lost in Surfside SC – Found and Returned

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I got a text message about 8:30 this evening from Laura M. asking if I could help find her husband’s wedding band that he lost in the surf. I called her right back and got the location and description and was on my way.

I got there an hour later and met both Laura and her husband Chris and they showed me the part of the beach where the ring had come off Chris’ finger.  They went on to tell me this was the first day of their big family vacation and were here from Anchorage, AK. Chris had lost the ring roughly 1.5 hours after high tide and by the time I got there it was low tide so I was in luck of finding it without getting wet. I started my grid search about the mid tide line and worked towards the surf for about 30 minutes with no luck. I then started working the grid from the mid tide line towards the dry sand. About 15 minutes later and 3 grid lines I had a great shallow signal. One scoop and I had his ring in my hand. I cleaned the ring off, put it back in my scoop and walked back over to Chris and his wife and asked him to describe his ring. As he’s describing it I turned my headlamp on, pointed it in the scoop and asked “does it look like this”. Bam, I think all 3 of us dropped a tear or two.

There’s just no words to explain the feeling of returning someone’s treasure that they thought was gone forever.

Chris and Laura, you’re a beautiful and awesome couple and thank you so much for trusting in me to find your lost treasure and for the very generous reward. Have a great vacation and a very safe trip home.

I received a call from Julie this evening at  approximately 5:00 pm to ask me if I could come out and help find a lost Tungsten wedding band. Her husband Michael had just lost it in a school play ground while playing with his children in the sand. I said I would be there with in an hour.

I asked Julie how she found me. She had been searching the internet for a metal detector to rent and came upon TheRingFinders website.   When I arrived I asked Michael a few questions and he told me he had already raked the area with no luck. He pointed out the area where he felt his ring had come off.  Within minutes of setting up my V3i the ring was once again back on Michael’s finger.  Another happy client!

Thank you Michael for the generous reward.

Lost Samsung Cell Phone in Hawaii Kai Marina…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

cell samsung hawaii kai
This was a first for me. While on a ring hunt at Ko Olina I got a text from my wife Wendy saying that Ed from Hawaii Kai lost his Samsung Cellphone at his homes private dock in the Hawaii Kai marina. I called Ed and said I would be home around 3:30 and we could make arrangements to find his phone. After getting directions I gathered my gear and headed for Ed’s home. When I arrived Ed took me to his private dock and showed me the whereabouts his cellphone fell. He also stated that he tried unsuccessfully to retrieve the phone with a makeshift scoop net and snorkeling with a mask & flashlight. The water was 4-6 feet deep so I put on my scuba gear and grabbed the Excal to see what I could find. The Excal was screaming. There were so many metal targets at the dock area it wouldn’t stop. I surfaced and told Ed this is going to be a hand over hand search. The area was only about 20 by 10 feet but the bottom was sloped and littered with all sorts of bottles some broken, sponge, coral and other nasties. Worst of all was the moment I touched the bottom the silt rose up like a cloud and made visibility practically zero. Our plan was Ed would hold a broom stick down in the water and I would go around it hand over hand canvassing the bottom in hopes of feeling the cellphone. After several attempts I was beginning to think the recovery wasn’t going to happen. I told Ed I would try a few more times but it wasn’t looking good. On the final try I settled on the bottom and started my trek around the broom stick. As I was about to put my hand in the muck the corner of Ed’s cellphone came into view and as I reached for it more silt moved and sure enough there it was. I firmly grabbed the phone and surfaced. Ed was ecstatic. Finally I thought. It wasn’t in the supposed spot because Ed must have moved it quite a bit with his makeshift scoop net. No matter, cellphone retrieved and Joe and Ed both relieved. Sometimes the hunt requires some ingenuity this one certainly was that. Aloha to Ed!

Lost Hearing Aid in Chilliwack, BC…Found!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I just got home from the diamond pendant search and made a late lunch when the phone rang, I answered it and a lady said is this TheRingFinders and I said yes  and she said could you find a hearing aid? I said its very difficult because its pretty much all plastic and a tiny battery, but yes I believe it could be found.

She said she lost it on her property up in Chilliwack, I said we have a member who lives close to that location have you called him and she said no. I said to her that it was a 2 hour drive or longer for me due to rush hour traffic and that she should try the member closer to her location. She said that she’d call him,  I said if you can’t get him call me back as it was going to rain the next day and I’d come out if she couldn’t reach him.

Five minutes later she told me she got the answering machine, so I was on my way! When we met I found out it was her baby daughters hearing aid and she has two and lost the one , I was able to test the one she had with my Whites PI and it got a good signal so I was confident I’d find it…

After 30 minutes and no hearing aid I asked her If I could test it with my detector again and this time… not a signal??? I got the AT Gold with the sipper coil and no signal???My bad! The first time we tested I didn’t check the ground before testing and there must have been a piece of metal in the area(LessonLearned) I had a sick feeling in my stomach and my last chance was the Garrett Carrot and it got a great signal on the hearing aid…Off I went on my but like a dog with worms sliding up and back on a grid and 25 minutes later…Bingo! I found out that just one hearing aid cost over $1000 so you could imagine how good it felt to find it before the rain came!

I love my job! If you’ve lost something and need it found please contact a metal detecting expert nearest your location at www.TheRingFinders.com

Lost Gold & Diamond Pendant in Cloverdale, BC…Found!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I got an email asking if I could help find a lost pendent the other day so I replied yes I can…We later take on the phone and arranged a time and place to search for the lost diamond pendant.

I showed up to a lovely neighbourhood and met the husband (Howard) of the lady who lost the pendant. He showed me the location and it wasn’t big but had its challenges due to the beautiful flowers and plants in the garden.

When this happens I use the detector in the area but not close to the plants then I come in with the pin pointer to search around the plants and bingo! There it was under a plant in only 1 inch or so in the earth. I love this job because its the best job in the world to be able to find peoples lost smiles!

I asked how he found me and he said while he was looking for a way to search for the ring himself online he found TheRingFinders Directory and thought he’d give it a try.

Ring recovered at Lake Lansing Sailing Club, Michigan

  • from Manistee (Michigan, United States)
Contact:

Scott W. sent me an email Sunday night inquiring about my services helping him find his wedding ring. I got back to him right away and made arrangements to meet him at the Lansing Sailing Club Tuesday morning.

Scott was spreading grass seed and straw over an area about 50′ by 50′. It was very muddy and had some standing water. Some time while spreading the grass seed and keeping an eye on his 4 year old child, his ring came off. Scott didn’t notice it until he got home. He went back to the club and looked for it but gave up and went on the internet and found The Ring Finders.

Tuesday morning Dave B. and myself introduced ourselves to Scott and set up our equipment.  I started a grid going East and West and Dave went North and South. There was an electronic dog fence running parallel to the property and giving me a lot of static on my F75 but I knew I was looking for a white gold ring on or just under the surface that would give me a good signal over the static. At about the 4th  sweep I got a hit just under the straw and there it was Scott’s ring.

Scott was happy and he were happy to have a successful hunt. We took some pictures and had a nice conversation and then headed back to Grand Rapids for the hour ride.
