James had been doing some gardening for a lady in Pasadena when somewhere in the garden his ring was gone. James had only been married two months, so this ring was very important. The lady he was working for contacted me and asked if I could come and help him. I let her know I was available immediately and would come right over.

When I got there James and his client met me and showed me the garden which was covered in very thick bushes that he had been working to cut back. He showed me where he had been working, and also that he had thrown out some of the cuttings already. I began in the area he had been working, and around some of the areas he had been as well. No ring found. We then went over to the trash cans and dumped them for a search just in case it had come off while he was throwing the cuttings in them. No ring again. Time now to search “Out of the Box”. I started looking in areas that did not seem logical, but I know from experience that that is how I need to think for some searches. Then while looking under a bush that was in the wrong place, I received a great signal, looked, and found his ring. What great day!

Erin contacted me hoping I could help her. It was later in the evening and she had lost her wedding and engagement rings while at the beach earlier in the day. She and her family were unable to find them and seemed to have lost a bit of hope until they found my site. I let them know that even though it was late, I would meet them at the beach for a search, to which they agreed, and I was on my way.

Erin and her father-in-law met me at the area of the loss and showed me what had happened. They had marked the area, so they had a good idea of where to look, that always helps me to help the person I am doing a search for. I began my grid up, back, and up again. I got a good signal and scooped up her wedding band. I went over the spot again, but nothing. I then turned the direction of the swing over the spot again and got another good signal on the engagement ring. I figured I did not hear it on the first pass because it had “parachuted” into the sand and was vertical and turned so that it would only sound to a particular direction. Anyway, I was able to make Erin’s day, and also ensure a good night’s sleep for her.

I was contacted by Laura who had lost beloved bracelet at the beach after a surf session and was hoping I could help her find it. I let her know that I was available to meet her there as soon as she could get back there. She agreed, and I was headed out for the search.

I got to the beach a little before Laura, and got my equipment together for the search. Laura arrived shortly after and walked me over to the area where she believed the loss to have occurred. I was ready and began a grid pattern search. Pass after pass finding a few coins, and some trash metal, but no bracelet. I expanded the search area as I continued, and then finally received a very solid signal, dug, and found the missing jewelry. Laura was very happy to have her bracelet back. Her beautiful smile says it all.

I was contacted by Kirill who was with a friend when she lost her ring that had been a gift from years earlier. It was later in the evening, and I asked if they would be able to wait for me, as I would leave immediately to come and do the search. They said they could, so I was on my way.

When I got there it took a bit of communication to find them in the darkness, but once found Kirill and his friend Gerda took me out to the area they believed the ring was lost. They explained what had happened, and they had been searching for the ring with no luck. I got my equipment ready and began my search. it took me no more than 5 minutes, and there was that sweet tone in my headphones that told me I had found something good. I dug, and in my scoop was a nice gold ring which I reached in and held up for them to see. Gerda was very happy to have her sentimental ring back, and I was happy to have been able to find it for her.

Special Silver Ring Lost in Yard in Palos Verdes…Found and Happily Returned.

Leonard called because he had lost his silver ring in his yard while throwing a ball to his dogs. It was a special gift from a friend, so it had a certain sentimental value for him. We arranged a time for me to do the search, and I went to help him in the recovery.

When I got there Leonard took me into the backyard where he showed me where the loss took place. There were a couple of planters and some bushes lining a grassy area, and not too far from the side of the area was a short fence that divided the yard from a brushy hillside. I began with the most likely area first in front of where he made the throw. Not finding the ring I began to work my way out of what would have been the line of the throw into the bushes and planters out to where the ball ended up; still no ring. I was sure hoping it did not go over the fence into the hillside brush. Before I started looking over the fence, I began to work the bushes behind the throwing point, and off to the side of where he had been standing. When sweeping under one of the bushes I got a good signal, lifted to branches, and there it was. I lifted it up to show them, and they showed such surprise that it had ended up there. I believe that “Out of the Box” thinking is what makes The Ring Finders so successful. Sometimes it just isn’t where you think it is. So glad to be a help that day.

2022 started with building a snowman and losing a ring in Albany Park Illinois

Received a urgent request from a student who lost her mother’s ring while building a snowman in one of the first snowstorms of the year in Chicago. Distraught would be an understatement!  Panic stricken….Yes. To complicate matters, she had been throwing snowballs too. She had spent hours searching the snow not realizing she was also packing the snow and making it harder to find. It was 10 degrees out, so not the most enjoyable time to hunt. Took my XP Deus and hunted in 12 kHz in my ring program. Knowing it was a surface find made it easier by raising the coil. I knew it was gold so I expected it to fall in the 40-50 range. However I did not know what the Karat gold it was. First I searched the snowman figuring that it could have been picked up while rolling the snow..no luck. I moves about 2 feet from snowman and got a target at 60. BINGO!! 18K goes higher that 50 on a good sized ring.

Total hunt time…1 minute.

Lost Platinum Ring at Loon Lake WA…FOUND!!!

On the eve of the New Year with a high temp of 5 degrees Fahrenheit, Whitney contacted me about her lost platinum ring. See Whitney had gotten a diamond and platinum ring for Christmas. Loving it dearly she wore it while sledding with her family. With a quick adjustment of her glove the ring said “see ya” as it decided to go sledding too. But like all rings during winter time they come off the hand warmer then the outside temperature and the snow. So Whitney’s platinum ring sunk into the snow and wedged itself in between the rocks below. After I arrived and said “hello”, Whitney and I climbed the little sled hill where the ring came off. Whitney demonstrated the ring toss and I started my grid. Two grid lines down the hill led me to a 16 vdi signal. Quickly pinpointing, the snow showed me a shiny rim and just as I found the ring Whitney had gone back into her house. So I walked quickly over to the back door and knocked. Whitney was still taking off her boots when I held up my hand with the ring. Her mask hid her smile but her words, “Logan he found it!” let me know she was super happy to have her Christmas present back.

Tungsten and Damascus steel ring lost in the snow, Carpentersville, Illinois

I received a text late lastnight (12-29-21) from Logan asking if I’d be able to help him locate his wedding ring. He was wiping the fresh snow off of his mailbox in front of his house. During the sweeping motion, his wedding ring came off and fell in the snow and immediately disappeared out of sight. We set up a time for this morning at 7 am to meet. After a quick explanation of the ring loss I turned on my detector, and in about 45 seconds, I had the ring!! This was the fastest recovery so far!!

Lost White Gold Cartier Wedding Band at Four Seasons Lagoon…FOUND!!!

This ring find began Monday, 13 December 2021 when I got a text from Nacer who was on vacation from Land O Lakes Florida. Nacer explained his ring was loose and he went to put it on a tighter finger when it slipped from his hand and fell to the bottom of the lagoon. He was in 6-7 feet of water and couldn’t see the bottom to retrieve his ring. Anything over neck deep and I use scuba gear. Nacer sent me a pic from the hotel balcony and circled the area he was in. I agreed to scuba hunt his ring the next morning. It was a two hour hunt and I expanded the search out in all directions but the ring wasn’t there. I called Nacer as they were now in Waikiki. We determined after further discussion that the angle the picture was taken it appeared to be much farther North then where Nacer wanted the circle. I told him when he returned to the resort to take another pic from the shoreline and center the area accordingly. This area turned out to be straight in from the public parking lot. With the surf up the lagoon was getting murky so I told Nacer the earliest would be a Friday morning hunt after it cleared up a bit. On Friday I did the exact same routine as Monday’s dive hunt and still no ring. I gave up thinking Nacer might have lost his bearing in the moment of panic from losing his ring and it could be anywhere. With about 700 psi left in my tank I peeled off South under water towards Aulani. In about 8 feet of water I got a screaming tone on my Excalibur. One wave of my hand and a white gold ring appeared. I looked inside and sure enough it was a Cartier. Thank you Jesus! I surfaced and determined it was about 30 yards from the search area. No matter, bottom line the ring is found. As you can see in the pic it is safely home in Florida with Nacer. Much “Aloha” to Nacer and his lovely wife Hajar who kept the communication going throughout the search and return.

How to find a Lost ring in Calgary

Sometimes I get called to search for an item that “might” have been lost somewhere. When I become that last resort, I conduct a closure search, hoping to find the item but knowing that there is a good chance it won’t be found. In cases like this, I usually ask for a flat rate fee.  Recently I was called up about a lost ring in a parking lot. She was pretty sure she had the ring before she arrived and after running a couple of errands at a couple of locations, she realized it was gone. There was no certainty but she asked me to check the locations where she had parked. I did without success. Later I met with her and searched her vehicle using my endoscope (tiny camera). She had searched the car already but I was able to check all the nooks and crannies. Still not found. When I left, I told her that her ring was not in the locations where I had searched. There were two possibilities. Someone may have picked it up (I left notes at the businesses where we searched) or she may have lost it elsewhere.  Two days later, I received a text with a picture of her ring. She had found it behind some bins in a closet.  Turns out that after my search had eliminated what she believed may have happened, she began to rethink the events surrounding the loss and was able to focus her own search elsewhere.
