After a long winter season, I am excited to get back to metal detecting. While doing some research this winter, I came across the RingFinders.com website. After reviewing the service, I immediately knew I had to join. Because I thoroughly enjoy making people happy and I have been metal detecting for years, I knew this would be a perfect fit for me.

It began last summer when I was asked to find a friends wedding ring after loosing it in a field when he was going down a water slide. After about twenty minutes of searching with my ATPro,  I got a great hit and found his ring. It was so exciting to see his expression that it just made my day. I am now working on finding another ring that was lost last summer.

As a retired Air Force veteran, I am available almost anytime to travel and find your lost treasures. A potion of any monetary rewards that I receive will be donated to my church or the Crohns & Colitis Foundation. I look forward to the opportunity of reuniting people to their lost treasure in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania and beyond.

I received a call from Marnie on Wednesday evening asking if a metal detector could locate a I phone lost in the snow. I told her that it should not be a problem and asked if she knew the approximate area the phone was lost.

I met Marnie and her daughter yesterday afternoon at the school where her school class had been snowshoeing. She wasn’t sure exactly where she had lost her phone but it was along the path they had walked. After about one hour of searching we came up to some bushes and a small creek at the end of the field and this is where her daughter had fallen. That is where I found her phone buried in a foot of snow.

Both were very happy to have the phone back in their possession as all her personal identification was also in the phone wallet. This could have caused a huge problem had the phone ended up in the wrong hands Costly too.

Lost gold ring in Lake Dora, Mt. Dora, Florida….Found!

As Nick stood at the end of the dock looking out over the water, he realized he was getting rather warm. So he decided to take off his sweatshirt and as he pulled it over his head he felt his gold ring slip off of his finger and watched as it dropped into the water. This was a very special ring, given to him by his grandfather and he immediately felt his heart sink! What was he to do? How could he retrieve his special ring?
A couple of months passed as Nick tried to think of different ways to get his lost ring back. He finally came across theringfinders.com web site and saw that someone could help him and that I was located close by. After calling me and explaining what happened we met at the dock and Nick showed me exactly where the ring fell into the water. It was over 10 feet deep so I suited up and dove in. Right at 10 feet the bottom of the lake had a soft, silky, muddy like texture. As I reached my arm down into the soft silt and mud, my hand was not able to touch the actual bottom of the lake. I used my Garrett pro pointer to find a few targets in the mud but only came up with a handful of nails, screws and a few pieces of aluminum foil. So I figured there had to be another way to retrieve Nick’s lost ring. Two weeks later I tried out a new method for finding rings in the water. I had made up a basket and covered it with half inch hardware cloth and then fixed it to a 16 foot metal pole. My first attempt at dragging the sifter thru the mud and silt lasted 5 hours and still no ring. On Dec. 31st I searched again for only an hour and was asked to leave the dock so the city could set up for fireworks. The next day, Jan. 1st, I went back and after one and a half hours….I could hardly believe my eyes! There in the sifter was Nick’s lost gold ring! I sent Nick a photo and asked him if that was his ring? And as he showed the photo to his family, they all joyously celebrated together! It took 8 hours of hard work to find Nick’s ring and it was so very rewarding and satisfying to finally hand it over to him. Thank you Nick for calling me and for giving me the opportunity to help you recover your lost ring!

Lost ring in Lake Eustis, Florida…..Found and Returned!

Danielle called me on a cold, wet Saturday morning in November, desperate for help. Apparently her sister’s fiance, Levi, had bought a beautiful engagement ring and wanted to do a practice run on the “Big Proposal” and somehow lost the ring. She explained that Levi had decided to go to Lake Eustis, with his older brother, and find the perfect spot to practice his proposal. Levi was standing along side of the rail and as he opened the ring box, to his horror, the ring popped out of the box, hit the concrete and dropped into the water below! He was stunned! His precious gift, the white gold ring with the .8 carat diamond was gone! He could not believe what just happened. He called his dear future sister in law, Danielle, and explained his dilemma. She immediately looked on line for someone to help and typed in “Lake Salvage” and nothing came up. Next she thought of “Ring Finder” and bingo, up came one of the ring finders stories.
I packed up my gear and headed for Lake Eustis. It was raining when I arrived and there was Levi, his brother and Danielle standing in the rain, anxiously awaiting my arrival. Levi told me exactly what happened and I could see he was upset….so I tried my best to give him hope and encourage him not to give up. After suiting up, I grabbed by gear and wadded into the murky water. Thankfully it was only 4 feet deep but the bottom was very uneven and full of weeds and debris. Right away I started finding targets. I retrieved a few coins, pull tabs and fishing lures…all the while trying to find Levi’s ring. After 30 minutes or so, I got a strong signal and up came a fish scaling tool. Then right in the exact same spot I got a clear, clean gold signal that proved to be Levi’s lost ring. I will never forget the look of relief on their faces and what a thrill it was to see their smiles. It was an honor to help you Levi, and I hope and pray the story of your lost and found ring brings smiles to your faces each time you recount the events of this day. Lost Keys in Snow in Homewood, Illinois. Found with hand held pinpointer.

Received a call to look for a group of keys that he thought he had lost shoveling the driveway. One of the keys was to his car, which he could not move. Also a series of house keys and others. I started to search with  CTX 3030. Found a lot of metal interference. Took rake and searched my signals along with my pinpointer. Nothing! There was a large pile of snow near some steps with a metal railing. Decided to use the pinpointer and buried it into the pile. BINGO!!

Toronto! Diamond Earring found! “Live Return” video

This is definitely one of the best Ring finder “Live Video” returns of the year.

One of the most difficult things to find are lost earrings with metal detectors! It takes a very specific detector and a lot of experience to locate such a finite piece of metal. The following story and amazing “Live Video Return” of the 1.5 Karat, near flawless Diamond earring is truly amazing! Finding this beautiful stone is a great example our commitment, persistence and experience here at Ringfinders!

I received a call from a woman who lost a very expensive diamond earring in the woods at a high end golf course just north of Toronto. Apparently while golfing she lost her ball in a small wooded area between 2 Fairways. The area was thick brush with a lot of branches and fall leaves on the ground . After the woman recovered the ball she remembered a branch grazing the side of her face on the way out. Once at her golf cart she noticed that one on the earrings that had been on her ear for over 20 years was gone!

The beautiful diamond was an anniversary gift from her beloved husband. Understandably she became frantic and went back into the woods on her hands and knees but could not find the beautiful stone. She notified the golf course and over a two-week period many of the Golf Course staff searched the wooded area for the earring. Trees were pruned, dead branches were cut and many individuals scoured the area for the earring with no avail!

After sometimes she decided to hire another detectorist to come out and look. Unfortunately after 2 days of thoroughly gridding the area  it was not located. At this point she gave me a call!

Along with having a very extensive repertoire of metal detecting equipment I am fortunate enough to be on the test team for one of the largest metal detecting companies in the world. Being on their test team allows me to have metal detectors that other ring finders and detectorists do not have and in the situation it greatly helped! Along with my extensive knowledge on finding very small pieces of metal and the right machine, I was extremely fortunate that day.

After arriving to the wooded area the woman told me the story. By this time she was completely exhausted and had given up all hope on finding the earring! I had told her this is only a matter of time and patience and I was quite sure that I would be able to find the earring for her. Unfortunately her face did not have as much confidence as I was hoping for and understandably. I started gridding the area with another detector but by this time the area looked literally like a minefield . Unfortunately no luck so I started testing the other ear ring that she still had on with my detectors. I finally found a prototype detector with a very specific setting I made heard it perfectly. At that point I literally walked over to the area where “I ” believed it had fell off and on the second swing got the beautiful signal I was expecting!

The following “Live Return” video shows the entire event and is one of the proudest moments of the year for me.

Lost Wedding Ring Found and Returned on Texas Ranch – Chris Dean

Stuart lost his wedding ring while installing a 3400′ water line on a beautiful 240 acre Central Texas ranch. He already had knowledge of TheRingFinders.com because fellow member John Volek (Houston Metal Detecting Services) had recovered a friends ring early this year on a Gulf Coast beach (John’s recovery). Stuart made the right decision because his lost wedding ring is back on his finger!

I received an email about a lost man’s Palladium wedding ring. The ring was lost somewhere in the backyard. He notice the ring missing a short time after he cleaned the sand from his little boy clothes after he was done playing in the sand box. I started my search with some good hits but no ring. I continue my search to the sand box, and there was the ring hiding in sand. He was very happy to have the ring returned to him.

20 Year Fireman Service Ring recovered in Philadelphia Creek

Received a call from Susan on 11/28/2017 desperately looking for help in finding a friends lost 20 year fireman service ring. Susan was calling on behalf of her friend Joe…a retiree and former fireman. It turns out Susan runs and operates a hot dog cart(great hot dogs and sausages!) right outside Pennypacker Park on Pine Road in Philadelphia, PA and her and Joe have enjoyed a somewhat regular routine of feeding the ducks in the creek. I met Susan at the park on Friday 12/1/2017 and she told me in detail what she though might have happened to the ring and walked me through the area of interest. As It turns out…they don’t even go into the park…they walk down the street on the curb and drop bread over the side of a small bridge to the hungry ducks below. Susan conveyed to me that she and Joe thought that the ring most likely slipped off his finger while throwing bread to ducks the previous Sunday. In looking at the area I was optimistic in that it was not a large search area and the water was shallow…but it is December in Pennsylvania and while i remembered my waders I forgot my long handled scoop! Thankfully the temperature was in mid 50’s so not too bad.

I searched with my Garrett AT Pro for about an hour in the area below the brige…about a 25 square yard area in the middle of the creek where Susan had pointed me to. Quite a few healthy signals that got my heart racing but just some shotgun shells and caps/tabs…the ring was described to me as being the size of a “superbowl” ring so I knew it would ring up strong if  I passed over it. After an hour,  with some freezing hands/arms from reaching in water, I decided to get out and walk back up to bridge and look down again to confirm my search grid was accurate. While on bridge looking down, Susan joined me and we talked through again the whole duck feeding routine. She mentioned that Joe didn’t like to forget the female ducks who were a little more timid and congregated in a very shallow corner close to the bank…an area that I had not detected.

Back into the water I went. After 3 minutes in this new area… I sort of saw something in muddy sand before running my machine over it. What a satisfying mid tone my detector announced….It was in 3 inches of water! And there it was!!!!

I very happily got out of water and removed my waders and stowed my gear. Susan was manning her cart and busy with customers so I patiently waited till she was free before opening my hand and showing her the ring. Joe was at a doctors appointment but Susan immediately got home on phone and I had the honor of telling him I found his ring. I thanked him for his service and told him I was extremely happy that I was able to return his ring to him!

A Giant Heart: Restoring Faith with a Found Ring at Ventura Harbor Beach

This morning, a plea for help reached me through a colleague from the high school within our school district. Joe, a gentle giant known for his compassionate spirit, had lost his wedding ring during a beach outing with his wife at Ventura Harbor Beach. Despite being physically imposing, Joe’s heart is as soft as a teddy bear’s, and his impact on the community of Fillmore, through years of dedicated service at FUSD, is immeasurable.

It was a late-night revelation, almost homebound, when Joe realized his precious ring was missing. In a moment of faith, Joe and his wife turned to prayer, seeking guidance on how to find a lost ring at the beach. Their online search led them to stumble upon my website and the Ringfinders link, unbeknownst to Joe that I was a Ringfinder myself. Promptly, he reached out to me for assistance.

Upon receiving Joe’s briefing on the location—Ventura Harbor Beach—I set out after school to embark on the mission of recovering his beloved ring. Joe provided specific instructions, citing a distance of 232 steps from the end of a cement walkway. However, with three such walkways dotting the shoreline, pinpointing the exact spot posed a challenge.

Undeterred, I selected the walkway I deemed most likely and commenced the meticulous process of gridding out the area. There lingered a nagging concern that the ring might have been lost along the 232 steps to the designated location, complicating the search. Nevertheless, I persisted.

Amidst a few false alarms, a promising signal echoed through my Excalibur II—a beacon of hope amidst the uncertainty. With bated breath, I scooped up the treasure from the sandy depths, revealing Joe’s sizable wedding ring. Its distinct dimensions left no doubt as to its rightful owner’s identity. A video call to Joe ensued, culminating in a moment of sheer joy as he beheld the recovered ring.
