Lost Gold and Diamond Engagement Ring in Olney, Maryland…Found by Ring Finder

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Lauren’s Beautiful Diamond Engagement Ring Recovered by Member of THE RING FINDERS, Brian Rudolph!

Lauren Happily Holding Two Prized Possessions – Her Beautiful Sentimental Keepsake and Her Treasured Mother Who Sheds Tears of Joy Just Minutes After Ring Finder, Brian Rudolph of Maryland Recovers Her Daughter’s Lost Ring!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I received a call from a young lady named Lauren who was deeply distressed about losing her 14 karat white gold and diamond engagement ring. There was a 1 carat diamond in the center encircled by diamonds around it and additional rows of diamonds that were set down each side of the band. Lauren was in the kitchen preparing a marinated chicken dish for the evening supper when she decided to take off all three of her rings and place them in her pajama pants pocket for safe keeping. Included in the bunch of jewelry was: the engagement ring, wedding band and a miscellaneous special ring that Lauren liked to wear.

After the meal was prepared for cooking, the young lady went out the front door of her Olney, Maryland home to take her dog out for a quick walk around the front lawn. About fifteen minutes later, Lauren returned inside the house and at some point she remembered that she had not retrieved her rings to place them back on her fingers. When she pulled out the group of gold bands, only two out of three rings were present! The engagement ring was missing! Lauren panicked and immediately began searching for the lost treasure. She headed back outside and looked everywhere for the precious keepsake. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn up in any of the places where she retraced her steps.

When Lauren initially couldn’t find her beloved diamond engagement ring, she still wouldn’t stop her efforts to try to recover the sentimental piece. First, she ordered a metal detector that would arrive the next day. Then, Lauren went out with a flashlight in the middle of the night and scanned the yard and front patio for the little one, hoping to see a sparkle somewhere out there on the ground. When that didn’t work, the desperate wife returned into the house and checked the trash to see if somehow the ring ended up in the garbage can with all of the other throwaways. Still, one of Lauren’s most treasured possessions was still not found.

The next day, the metal detector arrived and Lauren and her husband Jordon immediately got to work in assembling the machine and began detecting the lawn as best as they could. Lauren mentioned to me later on that they had no idea how to calibrate the detector in order to pick up the particular type of metal that they were looking for. The reason why they weren’t sure if they were using the detector correctly was because they tested another ring of Lauren’s and it did not register on the metal detector’s screen. It was then that they realized that they needed to contact a professional who was familiar with this type of search and who would be an expert in using metal detecting equipment.

The couple looked online and found the elite international metal detectorist directory called THE RING FINDERS. Lauren and Jordan were pleasantly surprised to find out that I, Brian Rudolph, provided metal detecting services in Olney, Maryland! Moments later I received the call requesting my assistance!

Between the time that Lauren started searching for her beloved engagement ring until I received a call from her asking me for help, she and her husband Jordon had searched for the piece of jewelry for over 4 hours! They were completely done with trying to find the ring on their own. Also, physically and emotionally, this was a very difficult time for the two of them. Lauren shared with me that Jordan was suffering from a major car accident that took place just days before the ring went missing. He was driving down a street and as he was crossing a four-way intersection, someone went through a red light and smashed their vehicle directly into Jordan’s car. His pelvis was fractured in multiple places causing unbearable suffering and despair. Their vehicle was destroyed and the paperwork was completely out of control in dealing with the insurance companies and attorneys that had to get involved in the process. Losing this irreplaceable diamond ring was just another brick in the wall of disappointment and sadness for the tested couple.

Once I heard all of the facts regarding the disappearance of the engagement ring and all of the hardship and adversities that this couple had been going through in the past week, I was determined to recover Lauren‘s lost ring in order to bring at least a little bit of relief back to their household. The young lady was extremely appreciative of my passion to help as well being able to come over the very next day.

On the day of the search, I arrived sometime in the late afternoon hours. I couldn’t wait to help this family recover Lauren’s lost ring. Once I greeted the young lady in despair, she showed me where she walked the dog towards the front of the home. Then, Lauren took me around the porch and over to the right side of the driveway (facing towards the street). I followed her over to the mailbox where she said she had retrieved some mail prior to returning back inside the house with her dog. I was hoping that the ring did not end up in the street when she had opened up the mailbox. However, I felt much better when I asked her if she reached into her pocket to pull out her cell phone near the mailbox and she believed that she did not reach for the device at that time.

Once we covered all of the territory where Lauren had moved around outside, I returned to the car to retrieve my metal detecting gear to begin the search. I first started scanning the lawn just in front of the house porch. This was the area where the dog roamed around and Lauren thought that maybe she had taken her phone out of her pocket at that moment which perhaps caused the engagement ring to pop out of her pajamas. This was not the only place that she could have taken out her phone, but it was the first place that she stood when she came out of the front door with the dog.

I knew exactly what numbers I was looking for on my detecting machine. I am very familiar with finding lost 14 karat white gold engagement rings. Her ring size was a tiny size 4, so therefore there was not a lot of metal to hunt for. Yet, I knew I could find it if it was still out there on the property.

When I concluded that the ring was not on the front lawn nearest to the porch, I moved my way along the concrete slab of the porch and checked under the bushes to see if maybe the ring had bounced over to the side where it could no longer be easily seen. I also looked around the section of the porch where Lauren had been working on a lovely furniture restoration project. However, there was still no sign of the precious “symbol of love”.

My last and final section of search area was located to the right of the driveway (if you are facing away from the house) where Lauren had walked as she headed to the mailbox with the dog. I was getting concerned that the ring had been lost in the house (knowing that I had such a little strip of grass remaining to check out). I asked myself ‘What would be the odds that I would find the ring right here in this little area where the grass was such a narrow strip and that the grass was not even very high enough to help conceal Lauren’s beautiful piece of jewelry from the human eye?’ Though I was wondering all of these things, I have learned as a ring finder that it’s very common to find the lost treasure even at the “11:59 position on the clock”!

I began to metal detect the last section of grass that was adjacent to the concrete driveway. Just as I got about half way down the narrow strip, I hit a really good signal. Immediately, I knelt down on the ground to investigate the potential target. Next, I took out my handheld detector from a side holster and checked out the spot where I was getting that particular signal on my machine. Just as the pinpointer device started beeping, my eyes zeroed in on a shiny object resting below the grass line, and there it was – Lauren’s beautiful diamond covered engagement ring! I found it! It was hiding right there in that little section of grass, perhaps less than six inches from the driveway! All at one time I felt such great elation and relief for Lauren and Jordon! At least one nightmare was finally over!

Once I secured the diamond ring by placing it deep inside one of my pockets, I requested for Lauren to come outside so I could do the ring reveal. Luckily, she brought her mother with her (she had recently flown into town to help take care of the couple’s child and assist in caring for Jordon while he was recovering from his injuries) so therefore I got to see both of their reactions when I surprised Lauren with the ring! The two of them burst into tears at the sight of that gorgeous 14 karat white gold band full of diamonds! It was a beautiful sight that I will never forget!

This search ended with many smiles and several hugs to go along with the celebratory words of thanks that I received! We also gave glory to the Lord who answered our prayer which we lifted up towards Heaven just prior to beginning the search. I could not have been more happy for Lauren and her family!  Even Jordan thanked me while he rested on his sofa in the living room just at the moment when I peeked in the front door to say goodbye to him! He really was encouraged by the outcome and it truly lifted his spirits while he was physically suffering.

As I drove away, I reflected on just how much I enjoy helping people like Lauren and Jordon find relief and restoration of happiness after experiencing adversities like the one Lauren and family had to so painfully endure! I so very much love what I do!

November 2021 Mikala called me shortly after Halloween asking fro some professional help. She explained to me that her whole family have been on the search for her missing wedding rings and they could not find them. She went into detail telling me that the family and her toddler were up on the second level of their home carving pumpkins. During this activity she had taken off three rings from her hand and placed them on top of her sons highchair tray. Well after the pumpkin carving and clean up she went looking for her rings and they were all missing. They searched the area they had been carving and tore apart the highchair and no rings were to be found.

A bit after the incident her husband happened to eyeball one of the three rings a sterling silver ring laying at the bottom of their balcony steps. This lead them to think that possibly their toddler must have seen the shiny rings on the tray table and somehow got ahold of them. They have big dogs and their son has been known to throw rocks off the balcony for them to chase after. This gave them reason to believe their son may have tossed mommies rings for the dog as well. This lead to more searching high and low outside of the home but the wedding rings never came into focus.

Mikala told me they didn’t have any experience using a metal detector and once she found TheRingFinders online she soon rather just call a professional to come search for her wedding set.  I told her that it sounds like a great challenge and I be honored to drop by and perform a search.

The day of the search was not unlike another winter day in the Pacific North West full of wind and rain. In full rain gear I gathered my tools and was off to another lost wedding ring adventure.

Watch the video to see as we bring back not one but two smiles to Mikala’s face. This search took quite a bit of effort but was worth every bit of it to have recovered her lost wedding set of four years.

September 2021 John was searching the internet for metal detector rentals and became concerned how successful he would be having not used one before. With a little more online searching he ran across a video from the TheRingFinders YouTube page where Chris Turner had recovered a diamond solitaire in the water. So, John decided to see what this was about. He went to TheRingFinders.com and found my list for the local area. He sent a txt asking four some assistance in searching for his lost wedding band. The next morning we had a quick discussion and the search was set for later that day.

He informed me that he had take his watch and ring off so he would not get any tan lines. He tossed them into the side pocket of his beach chair that only had a velcro flap. After reading a book and pickup to leave he forgot to put his ring back on his finger. After walking down the beach about a hundred yards he realizes his ring was missing. He remembered there was a man with a metal detector earlier that day on the beach but he was no where to be found. After a quick visual search John left the beach thinking he would need to find a way to search for his lost wedding band.

Watch the video for the exciting conclusion of the lost rose gold wedding band that slipped out of his Tommy Bahama beach chair side pocket.

Victoria contacted me asking for assistance in finding her lost engagement ring. She had taken her dog out along side their apartment building when a bee or bug startled her. She explained that she is highly allergic so it was natural to flick her hands and spin around to scare of the critter. In doing so her engagement ring shot off her finger and she recalls hearing the ring landing on what sounded like nearby leaves.

We learned the young couple obtained a metal detector but after laboring away in the yard they simply were unable to locate the ring. This lead to more searching when they found the TheRingFinders.com online and gave me a call. Of course I agreed to perform a search for her lost engagement ring.

After arriving and hearing her recall her account of the incident first hand I was sure of one thing only that the ring did in fact leave her finger and was some place in the yard. With the amount of energy the ring could have been within inches of where she was standing to several feet away in any direction 365 degrees. So it made logical since for me to just divide the whole yard in to a huge grid search knowing if it were to be found eventually I would systematically get my metal detector coil over her ring. Watch the video to see the full details of the search. Pay close attention to where the ring was found and how close it was to having been a much more complex recovery.

Precious Wedding Band Recovered from the bay of Green Bay

  • from Green Bay (Wisconsin, United States)

Last June, I received a frantic request from Rob, a visitor from Los Angeles, California, who had just lost his wedding band.    He was renting a vacation home near Red Banks, was tossing one of his nephews off the dock into about 4 feet of water, and his wedding band splashed into the drink!   Unfortunately, Rob’s wife had passed away only three months previously, and the ring was inscribed with a message of love from her.   It was important to recover it!   Rob asked me how long it would take, and I replied “About two minutes.”   I knew this because I knew the bay sediments very well from years of experience, my Garrett AT Pro could easily discriminate out iron.  Besides, Rob was a professional roofer and had pulled a nail finder over the area many times, pretty much cleaning it out ahead of time for me!   I hopped off the dock in my wet suit, and had the ring back on his finger in less than two minutes!   Whew!  I’m not always that bold in my predictions.      Rob thanked me profusely, and insisted I share a beer and watch the sunset with his family, though the real glow was coming from his smile.

July 25th, 2021: Found and returned an antique ring, Woodbridge, VA

Jonathan was having fun playing Frisbee fetch with his dog in the field behind his home. When he went back into the house, he realized the ring he inherited from his grandfather was missing. He immediately retraced his steps and visually searched the field. Then he obtained a metal detector and searched again, but there was too much EMF interference and too many targets. While researching how to find a ring, Jonathan read an old post on Redit recommending The Ring Finders. He contacted my friend Ray Jones (571-258-7217), but Ray knew he would be delayed, so he asked me to take over.

100×50 area

The next morning I made the 30 minute drive and met Jonathan. We walked the field and he showed me where he was throwing and walking. Jonathan was very helpful in defining the boundaries of activity and explaining how the ring might have come off. I set-up my search grid lines and started sweeping the area. After covering the field where Jonathan was throwing, I expanded to where he had picked-up his dogs waste. I heard the detectors signal saw the lovely ring at the same moment. There it was, sitting on a patch of dead grass. We had both walked over the spot, but never saw the ring. I marked the location and texted Jonathan “I found it!” As we walked over, he and I both remarked how easy it was to see…when you knew where to look!

Lost and Found in Washington DC House…Family Heirloom Engagement Ring

Kat’s Beautiful Family Heirloom Engagement Ring!

Excitement and Relief Written All Over Kat’s Smiling Face as She Displays Her Treasured Keepsake!

BRIAN RUDOLPH, LOST ITEM RECOVERY SPECIALIST (LAND, WATER, SAND, HOUSES & VEHICLES) WILL FIND YOUR LOST KEEPSAKE! CALL ASAP (301) 466-8644!

As a ring finder, I consider myself not only a metal detectorist, but also a “metal detective”. Many of the people that contact me are ones that need help solving the mystery as to what happened to their ring. They are not sure if the ring ended up in the grass, leaves, sand, water, or even snow. Yet, they sometimes don’t think outside the box by including the possibility that the ring never made it into nature’s elements all along. I searched houses and vehicles all the time and this story is an example of exactly that situation.

Kat was running late to get to her Washington DC gym for her regular workout class. She took her engagement ring off, placed it in a side pocket in her gym bag, threw some other things inside, placed the bag on the back of her bike and hurried to make her appointment.

When Kat arrived back home later that evening, she dropped her things at the door and forgot about retrieving her ring until sometime the following day or so. When she finally returned to the gym bag to recover the ring, Kat was shocked to find out that it was no longer inside. She started to panic and looked everywhere in the house as well as in her vehicle. She retraced her steps and started searching along the streets that she traveled on her way to the gym, looked everywhere at the workout center and still nothing turned up.

Eventually the distraught young lady filed a police report because she didn’t know if somebody may have stolen the ring while she was working out at the gym. The bag was left unlocked along with all the rest of the other gym members’ belongings. Kat called local pawn shops and checked eBay to see if somebody was already trying to sell her ring online. In addition to that, the young lady even printed “LOST” signs, hoping that if somebody did find it on the street, maybe that person would be honest enough to turn the cherished item in and receive a reward for their high ethical practices. Unfortunately, the phone never rang and no text was received about her beloved keepsake.

This ring meant the world to Kat in various ways. The large diamond was a family heirloom that was previously owned by Kat’s mother in law who had sadly passed away shortly before the ring went missing. Her fiancé Peter (now husband) custom designed the band specifically for Kat. There could never be a replacement of something so special and sentimental as this engagement ring. The two of them were devastated when nothing turned up.

Finally, when all of Kat’s other efforts failed to recover the ring, she thought that if it had fallen out of her bag while biking her way to the gym, perhaps it was still somewhere on the street, near the curb or even the sidewalk. Using a metal detector, she thought, might be a helpful tool in finding her lost family heirloom. The moment that she started Googling her particular need online, The Ring Finder’s website popped up. Kat found my profile page and promptly contacted me.

I love trying to solve mysteries for other people because I know how much these items mean to people. They are not simply material objects. These are stories that represent love, family and commitment. I kept Kat on the phone for over an hour and a half, asking her every question imaginable. I wanted to get an accurate picture of what took place and what were all of the possibilities that we were dealing with as to what could have happened to her precious keepsake.

When I am working with people that are not sure what happened to their item, it is so important that I look at all of the possibilities of the situation as if it’s a crime scene. Then, I come to the most likely conclusion based on my years of experience and I start the search at that point. Wisdom comes from the Lord according to the Bible, and so I heavily rely on my faith in God to help guide me along the investigative trail, using wisdom which is full of logic, common sense and reflecting on past successful experiences.

Once I acquired all of the facts on the phone with Kat, we set up a time later that night for me to come out with my metal detector and immediately search along the streets leading to the gym. If we did not find the ring outside, I highly recommended that I search inside their house. I conduct in-house searches all the time and I am highly successful in recovering lost rings inside houses.

In the meantime, before my arrival, I highly recommended that my client continue to search inside her home near the front entrance. From everything that Kat told me, I told her that I thought that the ring most likely ended up falling out of her bag when she dropped it by the front door. It could have ended up rolling across the hardwood floor and was hiding  behind something. I shared with Kat that shoes are generally the number one culprit where rings end up inside near the front door. Not only have I seen this happen before, but other Ring Finders that I’m associated with have shared similar stories with me, as well.

I shared with Kat that it was highly unlikely that her bag leaned over enough to spill the ring out on the street while she was biking to the gym. If that was the case, she probably would have lost something else along the way, as well. This left us with the possibility of theft or that the ring fell out of her bag when she placed it on the floor upon arriving home that particular evening from the gym.

I suggested that Kat take a a high lumen flashlight, turn off all the lights in her living room which was adjacent to the front hall next to the front door and search every crack, crevice and corner! I encouraged her to look inside anything that the ring could have fallen into (including shoes and other bags nearby). She agreed to take on this assignment during the hours before my arrival.

Well, just as I was texting my client to let her know that I was on my way to Washington DC for the evening search, Kat called me in a state of utter ecstasy to share the amazing news the she in fact recovered her missing ring! Though she had searched the first floor of her house several times during the days prior to contacting me, she listened to my advice and sure enough, she found the ring inside another item that was lying on the floor located behind a piece of furniture!

Apparently, the ring had fallen out of her gym bag, rolled along the hardwood floor behind a piece of furniture and then slipped inside another container! Using her phone’s flashlight in the dark, she was able to catch a glimpse of her precious jewel that was peeking out just enough to catch the light from her phone! Absolutely wonderful! My client was so happy and she couldn’t stop thanking me for all the help that I gave her earlier that afternoon! I was simply overjoyed for Kat that this most cherished family heirloom would remain in the family for many generations to come!

I was beyond excited for Kat and Peter! How fantastic was that moment when I heard the incredible news that the engagement ring was safe and sound in their home! And most importantly, that beautiful  diamond and yellow gold band was finally back on Kat’s finger… exactly where it belonged and nowhere else!

Testimonial

One evening I was hustling to the gym in downtown DC, running late for a workout class. I took off my engagement ring and tucked it into my bag, but when I got home it was nowhere to be found. The ring has huge sentimental value – the band was custom designed for me, and the diamond originally belonged to my mother in law, who recently passed away. My spouse and I were heartbroken. I searched the gym – nothing. We were terrified that it had slipped out of my bag on the street… what would be the odds of recovering it then? After filing a police report, calling local pawn shops, checking eBay, and printing “LOST” signs, I thought if there was any chance of finding the ring on the street, a metal detector would be necessary. I stumbled across TheRingFinders.com in a Google search and found Brian’s profile. When I called Brian, I was expecting a polite “please schedule an appointment” response. Instead he spent over an hour on the phone with me, talking me through every step I had taken since the last time I saw the ring. He was extremely considerate, reassuring, and positive, while digging for details to narrow down where the ring might be. He offered to come out that night, but after I got off the phone I decided to take one more look around our apartment. Brian had said that night time is actually a good time to look for a ring because it will reflect a bright light. So even though I had already scoured our place, I turned on my phone’s flashlight and looked again. Lo and behold the ring had fallen out of my gym bag, behind a piece of furniture and slipped down inside another container – but it was peeking out just enough to catch the light from my phone. If not for Brian, it would have been weeks, if not months, before I recovered my ring – time I would have spent grieving my most cherished possession. Brian’s thoughtful and thorough consultation put me at ease that I had an expert on the case, and gave me the clue that led me to find it. He has clearly seen it all and cares a ton about the people he is helping as much as solving the mystery of each misplaced item. If you’re in Maryland/DC/VA and you’ve lost something precious, call Brian! You won’t find a better partner to help locate it. Thank you, Brian!

Lost Ring in Punta Cana – Found!

  • from Madison (Wisconsin, United States)
Contact:

A couple of months back, I got a call from a guy who said he had lost a ring in Punta Cana. I get calls from all around the United States for lost rings, even though I’m in Wisconsin. Google picks up my lost ring blogs, newspaper articles or podcasts that I’ve been featured in over the years. Neil told me he had lost his platinum Cartier ring at the Now Onyx Resort in Punta Cana. Wow! I had stayed at the exact same resort with my family only months earlier.  What are the chances?

Lost Cartier Ring

Neil found a blog of mine about a lost ring at the beach in Punta Cana. I was there on vacation and doing what I call “hobby hunting”.  Most of the time I spend metal detecting is for other people’s ring back in Wisconsin.  When we go on vacation, I always pack my detector so I can get some time hunting in the water.  Would you believe I found a lost wedding ring in the ocean?  So, I posted a blog with a picture to try to locate the couple. The picture of this ring is to the left. I still am hopeful that I can locate M + V someday.

Neil found the blog post and called me at 6:00 pm. After hearing his story, I felt the need to help even though I was in WI.  Would you believe I had a contact of a local guy in Punta Cana?  Well through the power of Facebook, I sent him a message and he responded instantly.  Roland was in contact with Neil within a couple of hours and they set a plan to search the next day.

As you can see in the picture, Roland was successful and Neil was ecstatic!  For the full story written by Neil, check out the following link about his lost Cartier ring.

If you’ve lost your ring, even if there isn’t someone listed in the directory – don’t be afraid to reach out to someone, as the metal detecting community is very close and chances are someone knows someone who knows someone close to you!

Lost and Found Ring

I had two of my past clients who jumped at the opportunity to tell their stories.  I love it when people tell the stories from their point of view – they add so much to the story.  As we all know, a ring is so much more than just a ring.  Both Laura and Jon explain in the podcast why their rings meant so much to them.

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Today I received a call from a young lady who told me the story about how she lost her ring one week ago at coffee shop called Waves in Steveston in Richmond. She said she had the ring on while she was having coffee, she was showing it to her two friends then she went outside, gave hugs and went to her car and that’s when she noticed it was gone! The sad thing was the ring was too big for her finger and she knew it but she wanted to show her friends. After coffee she was going to go to the jewelry store and have it resized to fit her finger. The ring was her late mother-in-law’s and you can imagine how heartbroken she was.Well after a few question we set a time to meet today and when I got to the coffee shop there wasn’t really much to search but what there was I was ready to give it 100%  It took a good 30 minutes and some detective work and after the second search in the same area the ring showed itself under a big shrub!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI think the first search under that shrub it was caught in the grass blades and after shaking it the second time it fell to the ground below…What a great feeling for both of us when the ring showed itself!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI think we were both surprised because we started thinking that it must have been picked up by someone who saw it on the sidewalk…I hate to give up on a search and I’m glad I didn’t. I love my job!Lost your ring…Call me ASAP!”Renting a metal detector is hard. We make finding your lost ring easy.”Watch the video of the search below…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8tRLFN_QGg
