Ring Found In Water At Grand Haven City Beach, MI

I received a call this late afternoon from my hunting friend Gregg Larabel.  He had just received a lost ring call and they wanted to look for it tonight.  But since Gregg was busy I would have to go on this one by myself.  Phil and some family members rented a cottage for a few days at the beach.  Phil is originally from Lansing but now lives in Baton Rogue and now spending some time with his family on vacation.  They were playing catch in about chest-deep water when he caught the football with his left hand, and somehow his wedding ring went flying off his finger.  He(very cleverly) left his brother to mark the spot while he went to call for help.  I arrived about 7 PM and met his father and mother on the beach.  They pointed out Phil, who was in the water guarding the spot where the ring was lost.  After wading out and meeting Phil, he said his ring shouldn’t be more than 10 to 15ft from him, so he stayed in that spot and I hunted the area around him.  After about 20 minutes I got a good(GOLD)signal and called Phil over, telling him this should be it.  After a couple of scoops we had his beautiful 14K gold ring.  In checking it, I see their wedding date engraved inside the ring and guess what: their 1st wedding anniversary is coming up in a few weeks.  His smart moves in calling right away and carefully marking the spot made all the difference.  We not only saved good vacation memories but added a good note to their upcoming wedding anniversary.

I got a call on 9/14 around 7:30 from Shawn. He stated he was in his front yard playing with his daughter and as he was throwing things around and he’s ring flew off! He said he wasn’t sure where it landed. I told him I could be there on 9/15 and help him locate it.

When I got there the yard wasn’t very big, so it didn’t take me long (about 5-10 mins) to locate it and return it back to its owner.

After I located it, he proceeded to tell me they had just gotten married and they were leaving for the honeymoon the next day. He was happy that I saved the ring, his marriage and enabled him to enjoy his honeymoon all in one swing of my coil. *** Demi was at Seal Beach, CA. when she gave her engagement ring to her fiancé to hold while she went swimming. When she returned to their place on the beach, her fiancé had lost the diamond engagement ring somewhere in the sand.

She was given my referral by another  person on the beach. When I received the call I asked her what beach is she at. Her answer was Seal Beach. Another coincidence, I was also at Seal Beach only a block away from Demi and her fiancé.

I did have to go to my vehicle to grab my detector before meeting them 15 minutes later. As we walked to their set up on the beach they told me it could be any where around their beach blanket or chairs.

I started at the chairs with a few quick swings In  few minutes I had her precious diamond engagement ring in my scoop. Timing is important, this beach has a very efficient cleanup crew. This ((killer)) find & returned began when Jason called me asking if I could help search for a precious  large gold ring in knee deep surf water which vanished a few days prior in Pacific beach.

He mentioned to me something along the lines this seemed like a long shot and that his pessimistic friends had told him it could never be found,Waist of time,,,”He should just give up and go buy a new one.”

Fortunately, I could sense something we both share in common. A different look in life being optimistic people. So we met up thar at San Diego’s current midnight low tide during a timeline known for the best chances of finding jewelry lost in the ocean.

This was very important to him having getting it custom made over 11 years….A few hours later, While teaming up with Jason while he was well searching out and about with a flash light.. I was also metal detecting every inch of the possible areas up to around 3:30 in the morning before my batteries ran low enough then eventually call it quits.

Heading back to our vehicles now and bummed out about this time,,I could only give him a bit more of hope..Maybe we were not in the precise area? Many questions in every mind can also obscure the truth of a lost ring. Did it drift or get sucked out into the abyssal sea? Was it found by some beach comber detector person recently? Washed up on shore for someone to pick up? Is it buried too far down by now to locate with a deep Pulse induction metal detector that I used/prefer???

Onwards,I promised to come back the next midnight and continue the search but recommended him to go back as well during daylight when it’s easier to remember the exact location.  Such as; Landmarks,Flagged cones and distance out from the shoreline.

North,East,South,West,,,(Never Eat Soggy Worms.) This is very tough to determine for anyone by the way at night or day. Even for myself being a local San Diego beach metal detector since 2006.

Then I receive a text early a.m that it was actually lost just further south of where I had scanned over along with a picture of identifiable landmarks to go by in the background. This was GREAT to hear for me/us as I am confident it wasn’t in that area we thoroughly hunted over before..I immediately set my alarm and taking another cat nap before heading off.

I arrived to the scene of the lost ring at midnight again with maybe one Crap shoot left? 🎲 🎲 The tide was still high a bit pushing me East slowly covering the shallower surf zone when all of a sudden…I got a big familiar non-ferrous signal near the water line below the slope down from the dry sand..I took 2 small scoops in the wet sand then miraculously out came this Large 18k,1 ounce precious skull ring. 

Jason was very stoked I could him find what others thought was lost forever.

 

Don’t wait to call,,The Ocean is hungry and Gold has a density 19.3 times heavier than water which will cause your ring to sink fast! Timing is of the essence in order to find any precious ring or jewelry you may of lost.

14k WHITE GOLD WEDDING BAND LOST IN WATERS AT LONG POINT, ONTARIO 🇨🇦

Jen & Paulo went for a day of sun and fun with their children to the municipal beach at Long Point, Ontario August 15th, 2020.

Paulo caught a football in the water and watched as his 14k white gold wedding band popped of his finger and into the water. Later in the week Jen had googled list ring and TheRingFinder’s website came up. Jen had called me and I explained there was a registered ring finder a great deal closer to the location. Unfortunately he was not available and recommend me!

I proceeded to met Jen, Paulo and kids on August 22nd, 2020 early morning. The waters were quite rough with an undertow. After grid searching a wide area for about 4 hours, they had to head home. I continued gridding a larger area and went back to a middle further out portion to re-grid. No luck.

This past week the weather was getting cooler and work was hectic. So I decided to book a holiday day off and ventured back down to Long Point on my own. With-in 15 minutes on my second pass back to shore I had an 11/12 on the Minelab Equinox 800 detector 6” down! Pulled the wedding band out on the first scoop!!!!

Then the surprise FaceTime call to Jen!! Check out this video!!

Happy to return this wedding ring to it’s rightful owner and grateful for their donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation in which Jen & Paulo will receive a tax receipt!! PAYING-IT-FORWARD 🌸💖🌸 ROCKS!! Everyone wins!!

***Kelly had dropped her small gold with diamond earring in the sand while enjoying a family beach party at Newport Beach, CA. This was one of a set of earrings that she had for more than fifteen years. A gift from a special friend and very sentimental to Kelly.

After everybody in their group attempted to find the very small earring. Kelly was given my information by someone who found TheRingFinders directory online.

They were only a couple miles from my home. Parking was provided for me in front of their garage. In the early afternoon it can take an hour to  find parking. I had not questioned them very much on the phone. I just knew it was a small gold diamond earring. I chose to take my XP Deus metal detector with the high frequency coil and a very fine mesh sand scoop. 
I was shown the small 10’x10’ area. This could be a tough one because Kelly told me it was an open earring. Also it could have been buried out of detection range by the others that had moved a lot of sand searching by hand.

It was a few minutes before I received a good signal that could be small gold. YES! Success with Kelly’s earring was in my scoop. Everybody was elated and there were several of the other people on the beach cheered on.

Basically they all just accepted that a metal detector can find earrings in the sand. They don’t know that not all metal detectors can find these small pieces of gold, especially if the earring is open. I know that it wasn’t an easy find. It makes me happy to know I have the best equipment and I have spent hours learning how to be efficient with my state of the art detectors.

*** Playful pet dog jumped up on owner braking her neckless while sitting on grass. Brenda and her neighbor were walking their dogs in the neighborhood. They stopped at local school front grass lawn to rest. That is where the her friend’s dog accidentally broke her necklace. The very petite gold and diamond heart pendant went flying in the thick deep grass. After several hours they gave up on finding the small sentimental pendant.

Brenda knew how important this pendant was to her friend, so she took it on herself to called me for help. We met the next morning and Brenda told me what had happened giving me a description of the small gold item. I decided to use the same detector I use for platinum and white gold stud earrings. After walking a couple blocks to the location I set my detector to 74 khz. Good choice because the small gold target gave me a solid but just a whisper type signal. The pinpointer I was using couldn’t pick it up. Spreading the grass with my fingers I caught a glimpse of the yellow gold deep thick grass.

Brenda was excited about the find and looking foreword to surprising her friend. It’s nice to meet Brenda who is a special person willing to help her neighborhood friend find her sentimental pendant.

Wedding Ring lost in the James River, Virginia…FOUND!

September 9th, 2020: A couple of days ago, Zach was tubing with his wife and sister in-law when his ring was lost. When he realized the ring was dropped, Zach carefully took note of where their party was located using the Huguenot bridge, some logs, and a boulder he could stand on. With rain in the forecast, we decided to meet as early as possible the next day to conduct the search.

When I met Zach, I was very impressed with how well he had observed the location of the ring drop. He drew a very good map with a circle illustrating the location in which he thought the ring landed. It turns out Zach is an Advanced SCUBA diver, and a mechanical engineer. His education really paid off. As I did recover the ring from within that area!!

Zach is a strong swimmer and offered to tow out some of my equipment. He found the boulder and I set an anchor for a modified jack-stay search. The visibility was poor and there was a moderate current. The depth near the bridge varies from 3 to 10 feet. Luckily the search area was about 5 feet deep. I made the first half circle sweep and moved the anchor 15 feet down river. The skies were getting darker and it started to rain. Time was short. I was concerned about safety because of rising water and an increasing current. I was a little more than half way through the second pattern when I heard my Excalibur make that tone indicating platinum! Once I knew where to look, I could see the ring sitting on the bottom. I was so happy to pick it up and hand it to Zach. The look on his face was priceless!

It was fortunate we decided to search sooner rather than later. With the rain, the current was increasing and it would take days to slow back to normal. Zach and I both had that goose-bump feeling that “it was meant to be”!
