Lost Gold Ring Found In The Snow In Oak Park Michigan

During these turbulent and unsettling times, all of us are challenged with the task of getting what we need to survive while staying safe.
Amongst the changes in the natural rhythm of our routines, things get lost, including jewelry. Today, the pictured gentleman and his wife were simply bringing groceries from the garage to the house during a brief snowfall in the Detroit area this afternoon. When they got settled in the house he noticed his ring missing. He feared it came off at the store and didn’t know who to turn to for help. When I was on the way to him, we talked on the phone. I assured him I practiced safe swinging!
I suggested we check the area he crossed over from garage to house. It was a small area. Searching in a grid pattern my MXT started to chatter back junk metal signals. About 6 feet from where he was walking the MXT sang out with that all familiar sweet, mellow sound of gold. I reached down into the layer of snow and pulled up this lovely, cold, corona gold colored ring! I said to him even the ring is practicing social distancing!, and in my opinion, this virus has done what no other woman has been able to do, which is to be able to close all the bars, take away the sports and keep her man at home all the time! We laughed and following suit we celebrated with a refreshing, cold Corona gold colored beverage!

Lost Ring in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania… Found!

Kurt called me up and told me his fiance’ Angela lost her ring while playing Frisbee with their dog, Bear. The grassy area she lost it in was a somewhat challenging search area. Woods bordered one side of a rather narrow plateau walkway with a sloping hill and long grass to the other side. Since Kurt and Angela had searched most of the day before and even into the night with flashlights, my fear was the ring had flown off her finger and landed somewhere on either side of the path. Luckily after about 20 minutes of searching, I got a good signal and was able to spot her ring in the grass and return it to them.

I couldn’t have asked to meet nicer people today. Kurt is a very pleasant young man and his lovely fiance’ Angela came outside afterwards to express her gratitude to Julie and I for finding her ring. Even Bear was happy and jumping all over us although I guess that’s just what dogs do. He seemed excited though. In yet another realization of how strange things are now living in the COVID 19 social distancing era,  Angela said she was so relieved and wanted to give me a hug but said she’d respect the six feet rule. Even though I missed the handshakes and hugs that usually go along with a successful recovery, I’m happy to have helped out Kurt and Angela (and Bear) in their time of need and wish them luck and happiness.

Lost diamond engagement ring, Casselberry, Florida….found with a metal detector!

When Renee called me I could immediately tell by the tone and stress in her voice that she had lost something and needed help. I listened to her explain how she lost her heirloom engagement ring down by their dock and how she and her husband had looked and looked and in frustration finally decided to call someone for help. So after hearing her story I assured her that her ring was there and I would try my very best to find it for her.

I packed up my car with all the essentials…my ATMax metal detector, pro pointer, scoop, floating sifter, flags, extra batteries, etc and headed to Renee’s home. I am always very excited when an opportunity comes along to help someone and I try my hardest to think of anything and everything that I could possibly need to help me in searching and finding someone’s lost ring.

An hour later I pulled up to Renee’s beautiful home and was met by a lovely young lady with tear stained face who was none other than dear Renee. I followed her around to the back of her house and down to the dock area where I could see that a bunch of fresh dirt was pushed here and there and also a few of the boards from the boardwalk were taken up as well. Renee explained how she had pulled some weeds from the shallow water and thought maybe her engagement ring had come off in the water somehow. After pulling a few weeds she proceeded to move some boards from along side of the boardwalk area. One of the boards was covered in fire ants and as she picked up the board the ants began crawling all over her hands and her immediate reaction was to throw the board and shake her hands free of the ants before they could start biting her. And that flinging and shaking action made her rings go flying off of her finger. Thankfully her wedding ring landed on the boardwalk in front of her but her platinum, heirloom, engagement ring was nowhere to be found…it just disappeared! She let out a scream and frantically started to look through the grass and along side the boardwalk and in the fresh dirt. Her husband even bought a low end metal detector and searched the area but came up empty handed. In desperation Renee decided to go online and look for “Help me find my ring” and up came theringfinders.com and one of my stories. She was given hope as she read a few of the posts and thought maybe I could help find her lost ring.

So I began by scanning Renee’s platinum wedding ring with my Garrett ATMax metal detector to get an idea of the numbers and type of signal I needed to listen for. There were allot of junk targets here and there and most of the items registered too deep in the ground to be her ring. Recently lost rings will normally give a good, sharp, clean signal and will only be an inch or two deep in the grass at the most. Unless of course they get stepped on or are laying on edge somehow. I always check out any signal that registers even close to what I am looking for because many times pull tabs, nickels and pieces of aluminum can sound just like a ladies ring. 20 minutes later I got a really nice, shallow, repeatable signal in the thick grass at the edge of a large Bald Cypress tree and there was Renee’s lost engagement ring. I held it up and said, “Hey, hey, hey!!” and Renee could not get to me fast enough to claim her precious lost ring! What a relief and joy spread across Renee’s face!

It was an honor to help Renee and her husband and hopefully her ring will continue to last for many more years.

How to find lost keys in the snow

After being alerted by my brother that his employer had lost her keys in the snow outside her house, I made contact with her and headed over to see if I could help. After about 20 minutes I was able to locate the keys and fob in a snow bank the plow had created at the end of her driveway.

Wedding Band Lost 16 Years Ago Found and Returned. Chatham, MA

16 years ago a young sea-goer’s wedding band was pulled off his finger while trying to secure a friend’s boat to a buoy. Searching the surrounding seaweed covered area was unsuccessful in locating the ring. It was to remain hidden for the next 16 years.

While detecting, enjoying my hobby, and avoiding the Corvid-19 virus I found a wedding band with the initials of T.L.F. and a date of 1989 inscribed on the inside of the band. As usual, as I have never been able to find the owner of a wedding band with that information, I was about to put the ring into my pouch for safe keeping when I noticed a name on a large mooring buoy about four feet from me. The name began with an “F”. Could there be a connection between the “F” in the ring and the “F” on the buoy? I had to do some web searching when I got home.

I searched Zillow for street names in the area, the town assessor’s online data base, and other personal information locators for a family name beginning with an “F” and contact information. The search first lead me to a disconnected phone number, several distant possibilities, and a Trust Fund name and finally to a Financial Group, its name was Odyssey. The name was exciting enough, I had to contact them. Of course the financial specialist, Kim, could not give me any information, other than she knew the family. Do to the privacy laws Kim could only promise me she would inquire of someone in the family that may be able to help and have them contact me. A call came back from Kim with bad news…no one with the initials of T.L.F. was know to the contacted family members. Well I tried. But…wait…

About an hour later I received another call, this time it was from Trish. Yes…Trish had some information, but the owner’s initials were not T.L.F. as they were not the owner’s initials, they were an abbreviation for True Love Forever. The owner, Brian, was and still is a close friend of Trish. An arrangement was made for the return of a long missing wedding band. The return sequence of leading to a wedding band’s return was a first for me, all thanks to a coincidence, hunch and the internet.

Lost Gold Engagement Ring and Wedding Band Set…Recovered from Lake in Tuskegee, AL!

I received a call last night (21 March 2020) from Alexandria.  She sounded very distraught as she told me that she lost her engagement ring and wedding band set just hours earlier while wading in knee deep water at a lake.  Alex asked if I’d be willing to drive to Tuskegee, Alabama to look for her ring.  I’ve never been to Tuskegee before.  I did a quick Google Maps search from my location in Huntsville to Tuskegee.  The trip one-way was 228 miles or almost a 3.5 hour drive!  On my Ring Finders profile page, I advertise that I prefer to stay within a 100 mile radius of Huntsville, but can definitely travel further if needed.  My mentality is that if someone needs my help, I’m willing to travel anywhere to help them.  I got back on the phone, told Alex, “absolutely,” and started planning my trip.

I left early the next morning, so that I could get to the lake in Tuskegee by 8am.  I wanted to give myself plenty of time for the search just in case it turned out to be much harder then I thought it would.  Alex was certain that she felt the ring slip off her finger while she was reaching down in the water.  She also remembered the exact spot she was standing at in the lake.  Based on those two factors, I felt very confident that her ring would be found.

I set up my Equinox 800 and headed into the water.  Once I was at the correct spot, I started my grid search.  I picked up a lot of various signals on my detector.  Alex told me that this was a yellow gold engagement ring that sits inside of a yellow gold wedding band.  The signals I was getting weren’t coming up in the gold range.  I decided to check a few iffy signals, but soon realized the object was too big or too deep to be her ring and moved on.  Then, a few feet to my left, I picked up a solid yellow gold tone on my Nox.  One quick scoop and there lying in the bottom of my Xtreme sand scoop was Alexandria’s beautiful gold ring set still locked together as one piece!!!

I saw pure joy, happiness, and relief on Alex’s face as we all celebrated!  You can definitely see it in the photo below where she’s looking down at the ring back on her finger where it belongs!  I praised and thanked the Lord!  The night before and on my drive to Tuskegee, I asked God to guide me to Alex’s ring.  He sure delivered a quick, safe, and successful search!

Some people might consider that driving 7 hours (450 miles) to spend 10-15 minutes finding a complete stranger’s ring is just plain crazy.  But this is what I live for!  I love conducting these searches and seeing the priceless reaction on someone’s face when you find their lost item and return it to them.  It never gets old!

Engagement Ring Recovered Near Shelburne Vermont

I received an email from a woman yesterday who had been house sitting for someone about a month ago. She had lost her paladium engagement ring and the matching wedding band. The owners of the home also had a family of goats.

One day after out feeding the goats, she discovered both her rings were missing. She went back out and searched by eye and found the larger wedding band, but not the beautiful little engagement ring. At some point she was able to borrow a metal detector, but had no luck with that.

She found my ad on The Ring Finders website, sent an email and made arrangements with the owner to allow us to go back and search.

We met there at noon today and got started. After a couple deep signals and about 5 minutes, a got a nice crisp tone that registered an 88/89 on my White’s detector. I knew this was it!! About 2-3” down in the bedding was her ring, I pulled it up and it sparkled in the bright sunlight. She got the biggest smile, and both rings were back together!

After a long Winter of searching for keys lost in the snow, it was nice to recover a very sentimental ring again!

Lost Southern Hemisphere Gold Wedding Band at 4 Seasons Resort Ko Olina…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from 4 Seasons Security. Security wanted to know if I could come out to the resort and look for a guest’s ring in the lagoon. Since it was getting late I told them I’d be there at first light. The next morning Security met me on the beach and showed me the general area to hunt and if I found the ring to let them know. I went back to my car to get my Equinox & scoop and when I returned to the beach I met Sean from Sydney Australia. He told me he was the person who lost the ring and confirmed the search area. He told me the previous day after applying sun lotion he walked into the lagoon and in waist deep water his Southern Hemisphere white gold ring fell off. He saw it hit the water then disappear. He told me his wife who would be arriving later today had the Northern Hemisphere ring and they went together to complete the Earth. I had to find it PLEASE!!! I swept this area the previous day so their weren’t any targets until about the fourth leg of the grid search and boom the Nox is screaming. One dig and there in my scoop is half the world in white gold. I motioned to Sean who was on the shoreline that I found it and I swear it looked like he burst into tears. So happy to help reunite these magnificent rings. Aloha to Sean!

Lost Titanium Wedding Band at 4 Seasons Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring find started back on October 10th 2019 when I met Ian from Roseville California. While enjoying his vacation at 4 Seasons Resort his Titanium Wedding band came off somewhere in the lagoon. My initial search didn’t find Ian’s ring and the search area would include scuba as Ian was swimming in a large swath of the lagoon. Then there was a spell of bad weather and surf. A few scuba dives still yielded no ring. Finally on Friday March 6 on a dive outside of Ian’s grid I found a Black Titanium Ring with “Modern Gents” engraved on the inside. I immediately texted the picture to Ian to confirm the recovery. After consultation with the Jeweler it was looking like this might not be his ring. Then the Jeweler confirmed it was possible as they work with other vendors. I told Ian I would mail the ring to him so he could confirm himself once and for all. Ian confirmed it was in fact his ring by sending me a pic and a “Shaka”. Glad to finally get that ring find settled. Aloha to Ian!
