While I was on a search in Maple Ridge, looking for a young man’s wedding band a lady and her kids were walking by and asked me if that was a metal detector, I said yes and that I was here helping a young man who lost his ring in the snow. She asked if I do house calls, I said absolutely, she told me her husband lost his gold wedding band the other day in the backyard making a snowman for the kids. We exchange numbers and I told her I would call her as soon as I was done finding the ring I was looking for. The ring was found and I made contact and was off to meet her husband Matt and search for his ring.

When I got there, Matt was waiting outside to show me where he was making the snowman and where he believed his ring would be, it didn’t take very long and I found his beautiful gold ring while he was on the phone with his mechanic. This was my opportunity to fake him out and surprise him with his gold wedding band. I absolutely have so much fun and love my job more than anything I’ve ever done, just to see his smile and how much it meant to him to get it back. I wish I could’ve been doing this for 50 years.

How To Find a Ring Lost In Snow

Got a voicemail from a guy who had recently lost his wedding ring. He had triple bad luck. He not only lost a beautiful custom made 18k ring, but he and his wife had only been married for one week, and he lost it the day they were leaving for a little honeymoon trip! Oh my, what a crazy thing!

He searched in the snow and was unable to find it. So we met tonight in the blowing snow at the area he had fallen in the snow. I got my detector out, fine tuned it and took a swing across the snow. Literally on that first swing, only one second into the search, I got a strong signal with the right number for gold. I scooped some snow out and pushed the pinpointer in and found it, about 10” into the snow. We were stunned!! It was a new recovery record for me!! You just never know, many of my recoveries have taken 10-20 hours.

He was so happy! I hope hey have much better luck in the future and a very long life together.

Ring lost 18 months ago found in New Orleans, Louisiana

  • from New Orleans (Louisiana, United States)

I received a text message from Catherine who resides across Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans, LA. She stated that she just recently heard about the RingFinders and was wondered whether we would be able to help her locate her White Gold Amethyst ring she lost in her backyard in August 2021 (18 months ago). She also said that she has since sold the home and we would need permission from the new owners. She received the ring on her 16th birthday from her mother, so the ring was very important and she had possession of it for a long time. She believed her partner may have pressure washed it off of the stairs after she set it down to do some yard work. After looking for around 30 minutes, I accumulated probably over 200 nails and screws. Luckily, I had my magnet to eliminate these quickly so I can focus my Garrett pinpointer on the higher quality targets. I dug out the mulch and rocks in between two posts on the side of the porch. After picking out all the nails with my magnet that came from between the posts, I noticed my pinpointer was still picking up a target. As I moved the dirt to see what the target was, out pops the ring! Finally, after 18 months, Catherine was able to be reunited with her ring.

Late last night I received a text message for help in regards to lost gold ring.  He said he was inside his vehicle, opened his window and was wiping the snow away when his ring came flying off his finger. I quickly phoned the young man and got more details and we decided to meet early next morning as it was snowing pretty hard that night.  When I woke up, I was surprised to see how much it did snow but I shovelled myself out and managed to get there on time. After close to an hour-plus of grid searching in the area that Colin believed his ring would be, I ended up finding it directly behind his truck and closer to the road where someone could’ve easily driven over it and it could’ve gotten caught in a tire and driven away.

This search was similar to a recent recovery where a young man was in his truck and the same thing happened,  I found that ring behind the truck as well and not beside it where he also thought it would be found. It’s all about the flick factor! It was nice find that beautiful ring and get it back where it belongs!

Lost Rose Gold Ring Found in the Snow in Ann Arbor Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

Getting The Cold Shoulder……

…from winter is what newlywed Greg received a few weeks ago. Married just over a month and while at work on a break, he was making a snowman and his ring fell off in the parking lot. Searching frantically, he couldn’t find it. So, he went back into the office and gave me a call. We made plans to search but upon leaving his office he noticed a plow had piled up snow at least waist high maybe deeper. He was on the verge of a meltdown when I arrived, so I quickly searched both piles and found nothing. The piles were deep, iced over, hard as granite and near impossible to penetrate. Finding out he was leaving for home out of state and would not be returning for a few weeks made things more complicated. Knowing the ring was more than a foot deep into one of the glaciers, we elected for me to return in his absence to search. So, the next week I returned and noticed the piles had melted considerably enough to metal detect. The first snow pile revealed nothing, but moving to the other pile I got a weak but repeatable signal with the metal detector. Poking thru the snow and moving it around revealed Greg’s rose gold ring hiding under a chunk of ice just over a foot deep! Lifting it out I took a quick pic and texted him. Within a few minutes he texted back that this was the great news that him and his wife were hoping for, and totally surprised the ring was found. Meeting today I said that this was a day long coming. We laughed and agreed that this was a meltdown we can shake off!

Ring lost in Torrey Hills San Diego found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

I received a call from Linda saying that her husband Terry had lost his wedding ring outside their apartment the night before. They had searched for it for hours without success, so, they needed help. An online search brought them to TheRingFinders.com and my contact info. With a narrow weather opening between storms, I met them at their apartment and got the story behind the ring’s loss. Terry had just left their upper floor apartment and noticed some soap on his hand. As he reached the top of the stairway, He removed his ring to wipe his fingers and his ring decided to take a 3 story leap off the open stairwell to an unknown fate below. He heard a ping as the ring hit something on it’s way down through several flights and landings until it reached the concrete bottom level with surrounding landscaping. The landscaping consisted of bushes of various heights and densities, bark, leaves, grass, and the typical metal trash that you get around walks and stairways. To add to the challenge, the building and concrete areas  have rebar, flashing, and other metal items to work around. A quick search with the big coil failed to come up with the ring, so, I changed to the 6″ coil and my pin pointer to get into tighter areas that the big coil won’t reach. After a while and several junk targets giving us false hope, I got a another similar low signal with my Equinox 900 deep under a bush. The pin pointer was singing, but, I still couldn’t see the target until I started to remove some dead leaves and saw a flash of gold. Yes! Success! Linda was first to notice my triumphant response, gave me an emotional and appreciative hug, and went inside to tell a very happy Terry. A pleasure to meet you both and thank you for the reward.

Ring Finder Specialist Recovers Lost Gold Wedding Band in Olney, Maryland

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Stuart’s 14 karat yellow gold extra wide classic wedding band that metal detectorist Brian Rudolph found in a most unexpected place!

Stuart’s excitement is easily seen in his eyes as he shows off his gold wedding band that member of THE RING FINDERS Brian Rudolph had found after a couple of hours of metal detecting leaves!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Cliffs, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

Stuart contacted me because he lost his 14 karat yellow gold extra wide classic wedding band. This was his third wedding band that he had lost! He said to me, “Brian, this is my third one gone missing and I have to get this damn one back!”

My client was pretty certain that he had lost the gold ring in one of the fifteen recycling bags that were sitting at the bottom of the property waiting to be picked up.

The backstory goes something like this: Stuart’s father-in-law drove a lawn tractor and gathered up all of the leaves around Stuart’s property. Then, the contents were dumped in the grass at the bottom of the property near the mailbox. From there, all of the leaves were placed in recycling bags and set at the edge of the property for the recycling truck to pick up the fifteen brown bags that Monday.

It was when Stuart entered his house at the end of his productive outdoor work day that he noticed that his wedding band was no longer on his finger. He was extremely perplexed by the whole situation. Rather than empty all of the bags at the bottom of the driveway and search for the ring one at a time, Stuart went online and found me on THE RING FINDERS website. He immediately called me and we set up a time for me to come to the gentleman’s Olney, Maryland home.

When I arrived, I metal detected all fifteen recycling bags filled with leaves and debris. With the exception of one target signal, there was no other metal to be found. Stuart was completely perplexed as to what could have happened to his “symbol of love”.

Because I have experienced so many situations like this one where the client couldn’t figure out what had happened to the keepsake, I took matters into my own hands. I chose to start metal detecting along the edge of the driveway. Stuart said, “I don’t think it could be in the grass near the driveway because I would have heard the ring bounce on the asphalt.” I responded by sharing that he might not have heard the “ping” sound during the time that his father-in-law was operating the tractor. My client then agreed with my long shot theory.

Just as I neared two-thirds of the way up the lawn (along the edge of the driveway where the grass met the concrete), I picked up the perfect gold ring signal! Stuart was inside at the time when I knelt down towards the lawn to inspect the object that I had metal detected. I am very happy to share that that particular target signal that had registered on my machine was in fact Stuart’s missing wedding ring! I was beyond delighted at my discovery! I almost couldn’t believe it myself with what I had found! Talk about winning the ring finding game at the very last minute! The wedding band was there all long, lying just a few inches from the edge of the driveway about two thirds of the way up the hill!

My client was absolutely thrilled at what I displayed before his eyes just minutes after he returned outside! Frankly, Stuart was in a state of shock to see me holding his ring, knowing that there was little to no chance that the sentimental piece of jewelry would have ended up being found right beside the edge of the driveway in the grass! It truly was an incredible moment to return that very handsome chunk of gold back its rightful owner!

Lost Wedding Ring in McLean, Virginia Front Yard…Found by Ring Finder

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Trey’s platinum wedding band that member of THE RING FINDERS, Brian Rudolph, successfully recovered on the front yard of Trey’s McLean, Virginia home.

Trey, Tracy and family celebrating the successful recovery of the irreplaceable sentimental keepsake which metal detectorist Brian Rudolph returned to the finger that it rightfully belonged to!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Cliffs, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

Trey was playing baseball with his son in the front yard of their McLean, Virginia house. He believed that he lost his platinum wedding band when he took off his baseball glove. The ring was loose on his finger and because the same situation occurred once before, Trey assumed that the wedding band flew off the moment he pulled the mitt off of his hand.

The entire family searched long and hard for the very special memento, but in the end, all of their efforts led to no avail. Hours of looking had gone by and even the metal detector that they used to locate the jewel did not help the distraught man with recovering the ring.

At some point, Trey and his wife Tracy went on to the internet and searched for a new solution. They found the elite international directory of metal detectorists called THE RING FINDERS. It was at that point that I was contacted and Trey shared the whole story from start to finish.

Later that evening, I headed over to the family’s McLean, Virginia residence to conduct my own ring search on their front lawn. There were plenty of leaves scattered about and Trey didn’t want to remove any of the tree debris until after his ring was recovered. He was worried that If he had cleaned up the front yard, the jewel could have been swept into a leaf bag and taken away to the dump by accident.

After Trey and his son had finished showing me where they played ball and their overall movements on the front lawn, I immediately returned to my car to retrieve all of the metal detecting equipment necessary to conduct the search.

I truly love the searches that I participate in when I end up finding the sought after object within a few minutes swinging my detector. Well, I can happily share that this particular “project” turned out to be just like one of those cases! I was metal detecting around the batter’s cage that was off to one side of the property when I picked up an excellent signal. I knelt down to the ground and positioned my high lumens headlamp towards the area that I was searching, and there it was! I found it! I successfully recovered Trey’s lost Platinum wedding band that he so loved and cherished! The piece of precious metal had been hiding under some leaves in the grass. It was such a fantastic moment, especially when I surprised the whole family with the fantastic news! I truly love helping people… especially this family that was so very warm and kind to me! I’ll never forget them!
