Green Bay team effort leads to missionary’s ring recovery!

On June 29th, I received a call from a young man who was working in town with a mission group.  They were helping a person with some home improvements.  It was an entire team of young people who had traveled from Indiana to Wisconsin to do good works.  The temperature was in the mid-90’s.   I drove to the property and searched the yard for a few an hour and 1/2, but the heat was killing me.  I’m no spring chicken!  My car temp was 101F!   So, I told the young man that I would alert my local metal detecting club and someone would help.  I have a lot of faith in them, but his face fell because his team had to leave in the morning.  He didn’t believe anyone would come out in the sweltering heat.  I left and went home to drink a lot of water!

Paul Ehrfurth responded, and also took about 90 minutes to search.  But, he had the chance to search the lawn curb area more once the van had left.  There it was!  Soon it was back where it belonged, and the day was saved!  Smiles all around.   Paul nearly melted, but he didn’t give up!   It’s good to have backups.  The guys in the club believe strongly in returning wedding rings!

Lost Wedding Ring – Pensacola Beach- FOUND!!!

Today was such a cool day because I got to help out a fellow detectorist. 😳👍 Allan and Ami came down for the weekend to celebrate their 16th anniversary and unfortunately Murphy’s Law struck quickly. As they were waiting to check in they decided to wade out in the beautiful Gulf waters. Allan was explaining to Ami that she had to be very careful out in the deeper water because your ring can fall right off your hand. As he touched his left hand to illustrate his point… you guessed it, Kerplunk! Allan’s ring fell straight down in the water and quickly buried in the sand. Luckily they emailed me and although I didn’t get the email until late last night, we touched base first thing this morning. I quickly started getting ready and unfortunately tragedy struck. I badly pulled a muscle in my upper back and had to be helped to lie down. My wife sent Allan and Ami a text explaining that I was hurt and there was no way I could come today. They are very nice people and were more concerned with my health than anything else. I took some Motrin and laid still for a few hours until I dozed off. I woke up and realized that whatever had popped in my back was back where it was supposed to be and although I was really sore, I gingerly went to the front yard to see if I could swing my detector without too much pain. It hurt but I knew Allan and Ami were leaving town at 2pm and I really wanted to send his ring with them. I gave them a call and luckily they were still here and about to have lunch at Pegleg’s. I was quickly enroute to the beach.  Well Allan has done a lot of land detecting and he had tried to mark the location of the ring when it fell and did a great job. I always do a larger area and overlap my passes multiple ways because I have learned what Allan was about to; it’s never where it’s supposed to be in the water. 😃. The first thing I found was an iPhone X in a Lifeproof case complete with multiple credit cards (stay tuned for that return story this week 😉). Although it definitely wasn’t their ring, I think it gave Ami some hope that I really could find stuff buried in the sand out in the water. It wasn’t too many passes before I was worried that Allan might be getting concerned that I was in the wrong area. But then I heard that beautiful sound!!!  I called to Allan and waved him out to join me. He looked shocked when I told him that I thought I had located it and asked if he would like to do the “honors” and “dig it up”. He told me to go ahead and I very gently dug a large scoop full of sand. When I verified with my machine that I had whatever it was in my scoop, I just smiled and handed the scoop to him. Well, he smiled even bigger when he washed out the sand and saw his ring gleaming back at him. It was a great moment when he quickly put that ring back where it belongs and began striding back to Ami to show her that their anniversary weekend just got a whole lot better. 😃

Thank you Allan and Ami for letting me help you and for your patience and understanding when I was hurt this morning. Thank you also to the very nice front desk crew (especially Gillian) at the Holiday Inn Pensacola Beach who allowed me to park on property and even helped us celebrate when Allan showed them his ring!  👍👍👍

Lost Platinum Wedding Band Fraser River, Richmond…Found!

I get a call from a young lady who tells me her husband lost his platinum wedding band off a dock on the Fraser River…My first thoughts were I need a diver and that it could be a dangerous search as that river has a strong currant. After talking to her she said that her husband dove in and tried to search for it and that he was able to touch bottom at low tide.

This was encouraging as i don’t know of many fishing docks that you can touch bottom, we discussed the search and made a time to meet the next day at low tide.

I decided to bring my wetsuit and I’m sure glad I did as the water was very cold surprisingly! When I jumped in I could barely keep my head above water and that made it very hard to search on my tip toes! After 20 minutes or more I got a good signal but had a heck of a time trying to scoop it up. It was a chin deep water hunt!

Finally I checked my scoop and saw it in the basket so I put it in my hand and told them that my batteries had died and that I needed to change them…This bought me time to do the surprise reveal and capture the excitement on camera…

Why rent a metal detector when you can hire a metal detecting expert who has found & returned over 500 lost rings to their very happy owners!

Most people think of renting a metal detector when they lose their ring, the problem is if you’ve never used one you can be walking away from finding your ring. Its not as easy as it looks and if you’re a first timer it can be confusing, that’s when a metal detecting expert comes into play.

This call was to find a lost diamond ring that has been handed down from generations, three to be exact. I’ve always said that every ring we find for someone has an amazing story attached to it and how that story ends if we can’t find it. This call was to help find her ring in the ocean at English Bay and how she went and bought goggles and searched for hours with no luck! Thankfully we live in the computer age and people have a second chance to find what they thought was lost forever!

Lost Diamond Ring at Kits Beach…Found!

I was out visiting my grandson on the Island when I received a distress call from a young lady who lost her diamond engagement ring at Kits beach. I listened to her story on how she lost her ring and how they searched but couldn’t find it, I could tell she was very upset and that she thought she’d never see it again.

She went on to tell me that she was calling me from the airport and she was on her way back home from visiting Vancouver. She also said that she was getting married in 3 months, I asked her if she took any pictures of the area on the beach where she had lost the ring and she said she did and sent them to me.

After taking a look at the pictures I knew exactly where on the beach she was, I told her that I’d be there in a couple of hours to find her ring. I headed back to Vancouver after a day with my grandson and went directly to Kits beach. I found the area she lost the ring and started my search, after 20 minutes and the good signal I was looking for and in my scoop was her beautiful engagement ring!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I was able to send her a text message with a picture of her ring and when she landed back home In Saskatchewan the first thing she saw on her phone was a picture of her ring. The next thing I did was go to Fed-EX and ship back her beautiful engagement ring.

Lost Diamond Ring Found at Whistler, BC

I just finished a successful recovery for a man’s lost ring at 3rd beach at Stanley Park when my phone rang with a US area code. The first thing the young man said was… Are you TheRingFinder guy?  Yes I am I said, thinking I was going to be giving him a number to one of my American members, then he said he was at Whistler and his wife lost her diamond engagement ring at a photo shoot near a water fall.

I listened to the story about how she took off her ring and put it in her shorts as she was climbing down some big rocks, down to the water fall. When she got there she pulled off her shorts and when she put them back on she noticed her ring was not in her pocket. Her husband searched till dark for the ring with no luck, his wife was very upset and cried all night.

The next morning Cole went online to look and rent a metal detector and that’s when he found TheRingFinders directory and called. He told me the hike down to the water fall was around an hour, he also sent me pictures of where Allie took off her shorts as he thought that would be the likely area the ring fell out.

I could tell that it wasn’t going to be metal detecting friendly as there was some big rocks in the area. He was desperate to have me come out on Friday as the two of them were leaving town on an Alaska Cruise ship Saturday.  The only problem was I had to work. After a long discussing I decided to take the Friday off and head out to help the young couple.

I drove 1 1/2 hours to Whistler and met the young couple and drove them to the water fall. We hiked for close to an hour and arrived at the spot they believe the ring was lost. I used the detector in a very small area, but no signal. After rethinking the search it was inevitable that we had to pry up the rocks in the area and look underneath them.  Cole found some nice thick branches that we used to pry up the rocks, after 45 minutes it wasn’t looking good and that’s when I moved a sizeable rock from the area, as we were sitting talking I put my pin pointer into the hole and received a signal, then I put my hand into the hole and grabbed hand full of small pebbles and “Bang” there was her beautiful diamond ring in my hand!!!

Diamond Engagement Ring Lost at Venice Beach, CA…Found and Joyously Returned.

I got a call this afternoon from a pretty distraught young lady. Taylor explained how she was at the beach with friends, took her engagement ring off and inserted it into her bathing suit top. She then moved around their position where the towels were, and then went down to the water. When she got back to lay down she realized the ring was gone, and began to freak out. I said to secure the area where they were laying in order to not let anyone lay their towels over the possible area of the loss, and told her I would be on my way in order to make sure I was the first detector to hit the area.

When I got there Taylor met me and took me to the dry sand area where she thought the ring might have fallen out of her bathing suit at first. I worked a tight slow grid, and came up with only 3 quarters and a few bottle caps, no ring. She showed me the path she took to the water, and I searched that whole area as well, no ring. I then took off my shoes, and prepared to search the wet sand into the water. There was another detectorist in the wet sand, and I was a bit worried he had already scanned the area I was going to search. Taylor’s fiancé James then told me that when the loss occurred it had been high tide, so I started my search from the high tide line and down. I made about 5 passes in my grid when I got a nice foil sound about 4 inches down. I scooped the sand, and when I dumped it, the round bottom side of Taylor’s ring was showing. Her fiancé saw it at the same time as I did. I brought it up with my scoop, retrieved the ring, a beautiful diamond halo ring with a pear shaped center stone, and handed it to James who then took it to Taylor and placed it back on her finger. Needless to say her joy was fully restored, and there were smiles all around. A great time was had by all!

Platinum Engagement Ring Lost at Santa Monica Beach…Found and Returned.

Yuxi called last night, she had lost her engagement ring while cleaning the sand off of her belongings. She said she would wait at the beach, and I told her I would be on my way immediately. She sent me a text with the area she was at, and I knew the parking lot was closed for the night, so I would have to park pretty far from the area.

When I got to the beach, being Friday night at a very popular beach, I had to park over 1 mile away. Fortunately I have a Segway MiniPro, so I grabbed my equipment, hopped on the Segway, and headed down the bike path with my headlight turned on. When I got to the spot, I saw Yuxi looking at her phone and asked if she was waiting for someone to help find her ring, and she said she was. I must have been a sight to her, 6 foot standing another 6 inches taller on a moving platform with all my equipment, lights and all. She took me over to the area, and showed me where she thought it was lost, Which was maybe 8 x8 feet square (not very large). I could see a bunch of sand that had been scraped out, and a slight hole, so I started there. The ring was not there. I made another pass, and got a good signal outside of the dug out spot, put the scoop in, and found Yuxi’s ring. She was very happy. She and her fiancé Chenglong have matching engagement rings, so it would have been very disappointing for her to lose hers. I got some pictures, and we talked a while, they were so happy! I then hopped back on my Segway for my trek back down the bike path to my car, a very joyful evening indeed!

Diamond Engagement Ring lost in Sebago Lake, Maine recovered

I was contacted by Adam who was vacationing on Sebago Lake to search for the engagement ring of his fiancée Sonya. They and a group of friends were swimming and hanging out in about waist deep water when the ring was lost. The group began searching for the ring in the loose sandy lake bed and did so for better than an hour to no avail. I received the call that night and upon my arrival the following day I began a broad visual search of the bottom all the while soliciting some help with a prayer to Saint Anthony. I then began sweeping  the suspected loss area with my detector, finding a chunk of iron, sparkler, bullet shell, rusty nail  and a brass button. Expanding my grid toward shore I found the ring in knee deep water located about 5 inches into the sand, which was probably the result of the groups search efforts the previous evening. A happy ending to the story and this group of friends, especially the Bride and Groom to be will return to New Jersey tomorrow with smiles and a good story of disaster averted, thanks to The Ring Finders. A portion of the generous reward I received will be donated to the Autism Society of Maine, a cause close to Adam’s heart as his brother has Autism Spectrum Disorder.
