Custom Gold and Jeweled Ring Lost in Yard…Found and Joyously Returned

I was contacted by Adam concerned about the loss of his father Jerry’s ring. This turned out to be a ring that Jerry’s wife had custom made for him over 50 years ago. This was a ring that had so much sentimental value that literally made it priceless. It had one large stone with tiny rubies surrounding it. Jerry had been out in his yard enjoying working in the garden, and when he was done his precious gift was gone. They had been looking for the ring for at least 5 days already. Adam and I arranged a search, set a time, and I was on my way.

When I arrived, Adam was working to get a detector ready for a search. We talked, and he took me around showing me where his father had been working in the garden, and I could see a whole bunch of loss possibilities. There was one area that he seemed to be more concerned with, so I began in that area. I searched the deep grass on the edge of the area first, no ring. I then went into the flower bed, and began using the pin pointer to work in and around the Lily of the Nile (Agapanthus) plants that were in that part of the yard. It was when I put the pin pointer into the middle of one of the plants that my device sounded off. I began to spread the leaves, and down in the middle of the plant, deep, and under some dead leaves the glimmer of gold caught my eye. I brought it over to Jerry’s son to show him, and he was so happy to see it again, and very happy for his father. When Jerry saw it again, he just couldn’t believe it, he was resigning himself to figure it was gone forever.  I think that without the pin pointer, the ring might never have been found due to where it was located. Jerry had been tossing plant food across the yard when his ring must have flown off, and went into the plant. I later found out that Jerry is a renown singer song writer with such classic hits to his name as Travelin’ Man (Ricky Nelson), and Young Girl (Gary Puckett and The Union Gap). I was so happy to be able to reunite Jerry and his ring.

They started the walk down the sidewalk and got about four houses away when Angela spotted something and swung her arm up to point. As her arm flew up, off flew her wedding band. She saw where it went into the grass along the sidewalk so they searched until dark and then again the next morning but could not find it. Now this was no standard ring. Sean had the wedding band custom made to fit around his grandmothers wedding ring. Although they still had the grandmothers engagement ring the custom gold band representing their marriage was lost. Angela googled “how to find a lost gold ring” and found the SRARC website with it’s success stories and the rest is history. Since the search area was so small Howard Mett’s called Mike Miller and he met Sean and Angela at the site a short time later. In a few minutes Mike found the ring hidden under the grass and was rewarded with lots of smiles and laughter.

11g 14k WHITE BRUSHED GOLD & DIAMOND MEN’s ENGAGEMENT RING LOST IN SNOW AT BLUE MOUNTAIN VILLAGE, COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO 🇨🇦

Nitin from Brampton & Bhavna from Caledon were recently engaged to be married within the last week. They made a trip up to Blue Mountain Village in Collingwood, Ontario for some fresh air and a day out!

Nitin decided to make a snow ball on the pathway between the parking lot and the village stores. He felt his 11g 14k white brushed gold and diamond filled engagement band fall off his finger.
Nitin purchased a metal detecting as well as a blow torch to melt the snow. Unfortunately, Nitin had no success but tried his best.

Nitin searched the internet and found the ‘The Ring Finders Dot Com’ directory where he found my information. We made arrangement to meet at the Village on Monday late afternoon.

With-in 54 seconds, I had a sold 9 VDI signal on my Minelab Equinox 800 detector with-in 2” in the snow. I cleared the snow with my boot and spotted the Nitin’s engagement band!!

Lost Gold Signet Ring in the Sea at Russell – Found After Three Years of Searching!

Three years ago, Connor was swimming at Long Beach near Russell and he felt his gold signet ring slip off his finger.
This was a one-off piece, well sort of, as each of the family had one made with the family crest embossed into it. Effectively irreplaceable.

I met with Connor at the time and spent some hours looking for it in the surf and on the beach, however came back empty handed.

It was highly unlikely a casual detectorist had found it in such a short time, so it had to have gone deep with the sand movement.
It became a thorn in my side, knowing it was there…
Any time I was in Russell since then, I had a look at the beach – Some days the sea and sand were favourable so I spent a few more hours looking. As I do with any outstanding recovery.
Other days, there was obviously a lot of deep sand overburden, so any attempt wouldn’t be productive.
About three weeks ago, I stopped by as had become habit (bordering on obsession) whenever I was on the peninsula.
I saw a very shallow and subtle shift in the beach contour so I kitted up.
The first hole produced a very old and white-oxidised lead sinker, this looked promising – but had someone else beaten me to it with the ring?
Second signal was a clean low tone, but very faint. I dug the scoop in deep, but the signal remained in the hole.
Second scoop took me down to around 40cm deep, the hole was silent so whatever it was, was in the scoop.
Expecting another sinker, I shook the sand out of the scoop in the water, looked in and there was a beautiful orangey-yellow of gold, just starting to get that water-aged tone.

Three years… and fifteen days, after it had been lost.

I emailed Connor that night with a photo. His reply was that of amazement, disbelief, and lots of exclamation marks.

Today he drove up from Auckland, and I handed his family ring back to him, smiles and handshakes aplenty.

I sat in the car afterwards, and put a line through his entry in my little black book and wrote, with immense satisfaction,

“FOUND! 11/02/21”

They went out to the beach in front of their resort to enjoy the sun and water. While sitting in the beach chair Ashley flicked her hand and off came her engagement ring. They found SRARC ring finders on the internet and contacted Joe Szemer and he dispatched Mike Miller to the recovery site. In about 3 minutes Mike returned the lost ring to a very happy Derek.

They headed out to the beach to enjoy the sun and watch the waves and wildlife on the Gulf of Mexico. When they laid their towels out to sit on, Sam decided to hide his wedding ring in the towel so he wouldn’t loose it in the water. That is usually a very smart move but this time it backfired. As they packed up to leave Sam flipped his towel to clear the sand off and then instantly remembered his ring was hidden in that towel. They spent some time searching in the sand but had no luck. Then Robin remembered overhearing someone telling a story about The Ring Finders recovering a lost heirloom item for them. She grabbed her phone and googled “the ring finders”. Up popped the SRARC ring finders site and she immediately called Joe Szemer. Joe sent Mike Miller to meet them right away. Mike arrived right at sunset and within a few minutes Sam had his ring back on his finger. When the ring came out of the sand the whole beach crowd cheered and hugs and smiles were everywhere. Lost Sentimental Silver Necklace Queen’s Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

This Sentimental Silver Necklace hunt began when I got a call Friday night from Andrew who was on vacation from Murrieta, California. Before taking a swim he took his necklace off and wrapped it in his shirt and placed it on a beach towel. Upon return he put his shirt back on and then realized he forgot his necklace. He and some young lady friends searched but the soft sand must have consumed the necklace in its entirety as it was nowhere to be found. He saw two gentlemen on the beach with metal detectors but they were committed to a dinner reservation so they said, “Call Joe”. I wish I knew who they were. Since the loss was earlier that afternoon and it was now dark I was thinking someone may have found the necklace already but I told Andrew I’d be there in a few minutes and give it a shot. Being late I was able to get parking right at Queen’s Beach which never happens. Andrew and the two young ladies were waiting for me and I had Andrew draw a box in the sand where he thought the necklace would be. First target was a piece of foil and then I got a screaming 17-18 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Andrew’s silver necklace dangling from my scoop. One of the young ladies pull the necklace gently from the scoop and handed it to Andrew. He immediately put it over his head and around his neck once again. They all were in disbelief that the necklace was found. Honestly I was very surprised myself. Thankfully this vacation has a forever happy moment. Aloha to Andrew!

Lost White Gold Ring In The Snow Found In Livonia Michigan

Keeping Their Flame Burning

Got a call from newlywed Aaron this afternoon said his ring came off in the deep snow that fell upon the Detroit area recently. It happened when he ran outside with the dog to grab a few logs for the fireplace and after a few snowballs and fetch he noticed the ring missing when he got back indoors. Using a loaner detector brought no luck. When I arrived I noticed the area him and the dog were and began to set up my MXT. Slicing thru the 8 inch snow and deeper drifts with my bigfoot coil revealed nothing. So I began a wider search pattern and back by the log pile next to the garage the detector gave a sweet signal. Brushing the snow aside revealed this beautiful white/yellow gold ring glistening in the snow! I waved him over and he could not believe it was that far off from where he was with the dog.

Perfect timing as he had a meeting to get to for work. He thanked me and I said I was glad to help keep their flame burning and wished them the best in their new life together.

Ring Lost in Snow Near Playset | Tarrytown New York

In Tarrytown, New York, Heather helped her son look through the freshly fallen snow for his lost GoPro. During the GoPro search, Heather’s ring went missing! The 15-year-old diamond band had to be in the yard somewhere. Making matters worse, the ground was covered in 18 inches of snow. Heather was forced to repeatedly walk along the same pathways throughout the yard, one positive perspective of deep snow. The ring had to be on a footpath, or it could be lost near the play structure where they were searching for the GoPro. Heather realized how complicated this task could get, so she searched online for “how to find a ring in the snow.” Heather found my information and sent me an email. We decided on a day that worked for both of our schedules, and I made the trip to New York from Connecticut.

I arrived in Tarrytown and couldn’t believe how much snow was actually on the ground. Luckily the footprints in Heather’s yard were obvious, so the ring could only be in a couple of places. Heather stopped her family from using the backyard when she realized the ring was missing, preserving the scene until I got there. We carefully walked through the yard, and Heather explained everything she could remember.

I began my search at the playset where Heather removed her gloves for the first time. This location is also where Heather spent the most amount of time searching for the GoPro. The very first signal on my metal detector was faint, but it was in the gold range. The ring was small, so I knew the chance of moving it around in the loose snow was high. In my live dig video, you can see I scooped snow from where the signal originated. It took me a few seconds of fumbling and searching to realize snow had encased the item. My pinpointer was vibrating on what looked like an ice clump. My first thought was pull-tab. The kids were out here playing and dropped it in the snow. But when I moved the cluster, I saw a shape and glimmer that could only be one thing. A diamond band! Heather’s cold fingers must have been constricted, and when she pulled the glove off that day, the ring came off with it.

I’m so grateful to Keith for finding my wedding band! One of my son’s friends was over at our house for some sledding. We had about 1.5 feet of relatively fresh snow, and the boys had lost a GoPro camera in the snow near the swing set in our yard. I was outside helping to search for it, and at some point, I took my gloves off quickly, and my ring flew off my finger. I didn’t notice because it was really cold at the time, and my hands were pretty numb. After a while, we found the GoPro, but I realized my wedding band was gone when I got back inside. I immediately knew what had happened. I checked my glove and coat first, and then I went back outside to take a look, but it felt pretty impossible to find anything so small in all that deep snow. I wasn’t sure what to do, so I googled “how to find a ring in the snow?” and Keith’s name popped up.

When Keith arrived at our house, I was able to show him the area of our yard where I thought the ring might be. Within 15 minutes, he found it! The ring has been with me for almost 15 years now, and I’m so relieved to have it back.

I can’t recommend Keith enough! Losing something sentimental and valuable is devastating and stressful. Keith was professional and kind, and his experience hunting for lost items put me at ease and gave me hope that my wedding band could be found even in the large amount of snow that had fallen. He drove several hours to get to our house in New York before more snow and ice (in the forecast) fell. How to Find a Lost Ring

Lost ring in the snow? It happens all the time – brushing and scraping ice, throwing snowballs, sleigh riding, taking off gloves, taking out the trash. Suddenly your ring goes flying. Silver Rings Lost and Found in Calgary. JC Effect 2

Got a call out on a weekday evening.  His daughter slipped  while climbing an embankment and both of the silver rings her father had given her were gone off her finger. While she was dancing, he contacted me and within the hour, the rings were back in hand. Relief all round. Watch the video for details.
