Lost Gold and Jade Ring Found In Ann Arbor Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

A Snowball Effect…..

……Wasn’t was Savie was expecting as her and some friends took a short cut home as the snow started to come down hard this morning. Stopping briefly in a parking garage to dry off they decided to venture out and play around a bit. As the snowflakes came down, enough was on the ground to make some snow angels and throw a few snowballs at each other. After arriving home she realized her ring was missing. All rings are precious and this one held special meaning being handed down from her grandmother, to mom, then her. On site I used one of the 2 turn on and go modes on my MXT metal detector. The grass was thick and there was approx. 2 inches of snow on top. Grid searching the area revealed clean ground underneath my detector coil. Nearing the end of the suspected area I got a clean solid signal. Probing down revealed this stunning and unique gold ring with a jade stone not far from the snow angel she made! I waived at Savie to come out from under the parking deck and when she arrived she was thrilled the ring was located with a little help from the snow angel, and that it can continue to be worn and enjoyed until it’s ready to be passed down again.

Lost Platinum Wedding Ring – Found! Pittsburgh, PA (Second find of the day!)

I was just on my way home from finding another ring when I received a text from Randy asking if I could look for a lost ring in the Bethel Park area of Pittsburgh. As luck would have it  (for both of us!) I was only a short distance away since I was returning from the other job. I immediately called Randy back and he informed me that he was performing a tree service job when he realized that he lost his wedding band.

When I got to the job site I could see Randy had been hard at work and with the cold weather it is understandable how his ring slipped off his finger. We talked briefly and he thought maybe it flew off his hand starting his chainsaw, or that it possibly slipped off his finger when he was cleaning up trimmings and dumping them in the woods. I went to the back where he had started the saw and began my grid search…an hour or so later – no luck. I expanded my search to other parts of the yard where he had been working and then over to where he had been dumping the trimmings. While I was searching Randy was diligently sorting through some of the trimmings and things to make it easier for me to get in there and search. I looked in the area where the limbs and things had been dumped…no luck. I was starting to think that it was lost in the woods and that I would never find it. I had one last area to check, the path he was taking from the work site to the woods. This seemed to be the least likely place and after three hours I was hoping that I was going to have enough daylight to conduct a second search as my optimism started to fade. Meanwhile Randy had strapped on his climbing gear and impressively scaled a tree and was back at work.

I started searching the path from the trees to the dump site and after a few passes I had a solid hit in a pile of leaves he had blown off to the side. I reached down and there was the platinum ring! I walked over and jokingly asked Randy if he wanted to come down to get his ring or if he wanted me to throw it up to him. He rapidly descended from the tree and came over to get his ring. He was as elated that I found his ring as I was relieved. I think we were both starting to doubt I was going to find it.

Randy thanked me several times and we talked briefly before he started back to his task at hand. Once again he climbed the tree and was back at work. In my brief time with Randy it is apparent that he is a genuine and hard working guy who I am extremely happy that I was able to reunite with his ring and if I ever need a tree guy I know who to call!

Today was also a first – two recoveries in one day – thank you to Bob and Randy for trusting me to look for their rings and thankfully I was able to come through for both of them.

I received a text from Bob asking me if I would be willing to look for his lost wedding band in the Pittsburgh area. We spoke briefly on the phone to work out the details and agreed on today. The ring was believed to have been lost while gardening and was thought to be in one of his flower beds or in the woods where he dumps his clipping. Bob explained to me that the ring was more than just a wedding band, but an heirloom with significant meaning.

Of course as I set out to meet Bob I was greeted by the first snow of the year, albeit just some flurries with a dusting here or there along the way. However, by the time I reached Bob’s house the snow had stopped and the sky was turning blue, I was hoping it was a good omen for my search. The thought had crossed my mind while on my way to send Bob a text and tell him we would have to wait for better weather as I am a “fair weather” ring finder when I was a few minutes from his house, but then my better judgement told me to remember – “you are a ring finder, not a comedian” so I held off.

Bob was warm and welcoming when I met him and showed me the area to be searched. Despite the cold weather he wanted to be outside to accompany me while I searched. I checked the front flower gardens and not really so much as a peep on my machine. I asked Bob to show me where he dumped his clipping and he took me back to the edge of the woods. My thought was a quick check there before I started searching the yard between the flower beds and the woods. No sooner did I start searching the clippings and my AT Pro hit the sweet spot. I reached down into the clippings and pulled out the gold wedding band with a channel of diamonds. Bob checked his watch, I had been there less than a half hour total.

As I handed the ring over to Bob I could see all the emotions his face – thankfulness, relief, happiness…  Bob was kind enough to share the story of his ring with me. It is not my story to retell, but I will say that it is one that touched the heart, probably similar in many ways to some of the stories that other ring finders have heard as well, and it underlines the importance of what we do. It was a great pleasure to meet Bob today and an even greater one to return his heirloom wedding band!

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Hale Koa Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Terry that said he lost his Gold Wedding band in waist deep water yesterday at Hale Koa hotel, while on vacation from Colorado Springs. I had just returned from a relaxing low tide mark hunt through Hilton Hawaiian Village and the Hale Koa Hotel beaches. I found a 14K Gold Band but it was on the Hilton side. I told Terry I’d grab my gear again and meet him on the boardwalk near Hale Koa Beach. When I arrived Terry introduced me to his lovely wife Mary and we proceeded down to the shoreline so they could show me the area to hunt. Mary was sure the hunt should start somewhat more to the left and I did start there. As those of you that know me, my gig is the ladies are much better at remembering locations. Good thing too because on only the third leg of the grid search after finding two pull tabs I got a loud 12/13 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Terry’s Gold Ring in the scoop. I will always listen to both but weigh heavily on the woman’s guidance! I can’t even remember when the last time the “Man” was correct! Terry & Mary were very grateful and several people on the beach came down to get my number. One gentleman said he was going to send me some honey from his bee farm! What a gracious offer and such wonderful people this morning on the beach. I found out Terry served in the Air Force so, “Thank You for your service Sir.” Aloha to Mary & Terry

*** Allen and his friends were at beach front home in Newport Beach, CA. 92660. He was wearing his gold diamond watch with a matching gold diamond ring. These were both very expensive and very sentimental as Allen had been given these to celebrate a special occasion.

Sometime in the late afternoon the white gold diamond ring came off his finger disappearing into the sand. He and his friends searched for it several frustrating hours,  disrupting the party.

Allen found my contact information after a google search. He was very excited when he called me, asking if I could come right away. It was just four miles from my place but it was late afternoon and with the traffic it took me about a half hour.

I met him on the sand near the patio of the beachfront home. He said he had been shaking his friend’s hand when the ring flew off his finger into the sand. There were beach chairs and longes on the sand. I did a preliminary scan of the sand before moving any of the beach furniture. “Boom” .. the beautiful gold diamond ring in my scoop.

Allen and everyone at the party was excited and relieved that the ring had been recovered. Allen wanted to show me the gold diamond watch that was part of a matching set that was custom made for him. We took a few minutes to do a photo-op. where he want me to take a pic of both the watch and ring. It was a very special search and I was happy to be available to help Allen.

Lost Gold Engagement Ring, Ottwell Neighborhood, Edmonton Alberta

  • from Edmonton (Alberta, Canada)
Contact:

I received a frantic call form Linda yesterday afternoon requesting my service to locate her gold engagement ring which she had lost while installing her Christmas lights! Linda told me she had spent a couple of hours searching for her ring in the shrubs and on the lawn with no luck. Within a 1/2 hour I arrived and within 5 minutes her ring was returned to her! Linda was so relieved to have her ring back on her finger where it had been for the past 43 years.
Thank you Linda, for entrusting me to find your ring.

Property Markers Found – Little River SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

One of my neighbors, Linda, asked me if I could possibly find 3 property markers on her daughter’s property in a different neighborhood development. She said she wanted to install a small shed next to the house but wanted to ensure she was within her property boundaries. I agreed to go out the next day and see what I could do. Luckily, Linda gave me a property plat map showing the distance between the markers. She said one of the rear markers was sticking up above the ground and I should be able to find it. Shortly after I arrived, I found the rear marker which was no more than 2 ft from the rear corner of the house.  I measured off the 47 ft to the front marker. There was nothing else to go by on the map plat, like the location of the house. So, I had the distance from the back marker but didn’t know the direction of the property line. I tried using my Fisher’s Gold Bug but there were 2 water meters, within 6 inches of each other and each one was installed inside a metal box buried in the ground. Needless to say, both my detector and pin pointer were absolutely useless. So after a good hour and a half of using my digging knife to probe under the grass I finally found the marker. The county had put the water meter boxes on each side of the marker with one box less than 2 inches from the marker rod.  When I first hit the rod with the knife, I thought I was hitting the metal box. One marker down, 2 to go. I went back to the back marker and measured off the 73.9 ft across the back of the house.  Again, I didn’t know where the property line went, but at no point was it more than a foot off the back of the house. So this measurement ended up right in the middle of the power and the cable boxes and the wires that went with them on both sides of where the marker should be. I still couldn’t use the detector or the pin pointer and had to use the knife to probe. I had to be a lot more careful because I didn’t want to stab or cut a wire, especially the power wire. I made a joke asking Linda if she knew CPR just in case, she replied “No.” After about another hour, I called it a day and told Linda I’d be back.

A couple of days later I went back determined to find the 3rd marker without cutting Linda’s electricity or cable off and me getting electrocuted. I remeasured the distance and after about 30 minutes I found the marker rod within an inch from the power box. The 4th marker is somewhere under a huge bush about 8 ft in diameter. Linda has wanted to cut the bush down for a while so now she has a reason and will call me when it’s gone.

While I was there on the second trip, a neighbor, Delores came over and asked me if I’d mind finding one of her property markers. A different neighbor was having an issue with her about an area that needed to be cleaned in which he insisted was on her property. She said he was so adamant about it that he was going to the HOA. It took me about 5 minutes, after measuring, to find her marker. Needless to say, her neighbor will be very disappointed. While I was talking with Delores, she said that she was one of the first homeowners in the development 31 years ago. She said when the builders built the houses, they built 7 houses per acre, which explains why no one had a back or side yards.

Meredith contacted me regarding an engagement ring she lost the night before at the Griffith Park Haunted Hayride. She had been there with her fiancé when after the ride was over she stood up to get off, and her loose fitting engagement ring slid off of her finger, and was lost somewhere in the hay. She and her fiancé, along with some of the staff stayed until 3 AM searching for her ring with no luck. We arranged a time to meet there, and I was on my way.

When I arrived Meredith and her fiancé Mehrdod had emptied the hay from the area of the loss from the trailer onto a tarp, and spread it out, so I began my search there. I went over the hay very carefully, but there was no ring there. I then went into the trailer to search the remaining hay but was unable to find it there. There were gaps in the floor of the trailer that a ring could easily fall through, so I got under the trailer and searched; nothing. I then repeated the whole search again to make sure nothing was missed, and again no ring. I asked if this was the area where she disembarked, and she said no it was another area. We went to the place where she stood to get off of the ride, and I began to search there. She and her fiancé were doing something in another part of this spot when I got a great signal, put the pin pointer in, and found her ring. I walked over with her ring hidden in my hand, and asked an inquiring question, to which she walked over to Mehrdod to discuss it with him. It was at that time I held up my hand with her ring, and asked, “Are we looking for this?” Meredith got very emotional at that point with joy, and later said that that was the best “jump scare” she had ever had. She then told me that they were getting married in 12 days; WOW! What a pleasure it is to see that kind of joy restored in a person’s life! What a great day!

It was pretty late one night when Tim contacted me. He had lost his ring at a beach club in their volley ball court, and after about 1 1/2 hours of searching was unable to find it. He wanted to know if I would be willing to go back the next day and do a search, but I told him I would do the search this night if he would send me the information showing me exactly where to look, because time is the real enemy of a successful search. He agreed, and after the information came I was on my way.

All the parking was shut down for the night so the only place I could park was about 2 miles away at the pier. For situations such as this I bring a folding bike with me. I unfolded my bike, strapped my detector and scoop on my back, and rode the bike path to the search area. I was able to find the area quickly, and began my search. It took just a couple of minutes, and I had Tim’s ring in my hand. I let him know it was found, and we arranged to meet the next day for the return. He was very happy that it was found, and happy that I was willing to go to do the search late the night before, to which I exclaimed that it was my pleasure to do so!
