Lost Ring in Backyard-Found!

I was contacted by Jessica to find her husband’s ring he had lost in the backyard while throwing balls for his dog. Along the way they had borowwed a metal detector to look for it themselves, but they didn’t know how to use it, so they hid her ring in the grass to test it out and see what it sounded like, and that’s where it got more complicated. The detector and their ears were overloaded with all the metal in the ground they didn’t know was there. Then they couldn’t find her ring either. That’s when she contacted me.  They had marked out a spot where she thought her ring would be, and it was a fairly small area, maybe six feet by four feet. I covered that area quickly and no ring, so I expanded the search area to beyond where she had marked out.  I had made one pass, turned around to parallel my path and I was facing the sun. After two steps I caught a relection in the grass of something silver colored before my coil passed over it. It was her ring. The entire search for her ring was less than ten minutes. While I was talking with her and taking a couple of photos the sun was directly in my eyes so I shifted position a little.  When she was looking at me I noticed she had fixed her attention to somewhere over my right shoulder. She said hold on a minute, and took off to the side of the yard and came back with his ring. If my memory serves me correctly it was dark colored, titanium maybe.  From the position we were standing she happened to see it laying on the ground in a clear area that was free of grass. So both rings were recovered in around fifteen minutes.

Lost Gold Pendant in Public Park-Found!

I got a text from Jae late Thursday evening and she said she had lost her gold pendant in a local public park.  She and her friend had looked all evening until around midnight that night.  The pendant was made from the engagement ring her grandfather had given her grandmother in 1942. So it was very sentimental to her and all she had left of her grandparents.  The grass in that area was pretty deep, so finding it by sight was nearly impossible.  I got there by around noon the next day on Friday.  She had the area marked where she noticed the broken necklace.  I had marked out a block for my search that was about 75 feet by 50 feet.  That search area bordered a sidewalk on one side.  Being a public park I assumed the ground there would be very contaminated with metallic trash and other items, and it did not dissapoint.  Fortunately, with the Manticore metal detector I was able to differentiate between what was on the surface and what was deeper.  That still lengthens the search time because every target has to be inspected before moving on.  I completed the grid search in the block I had marked out and found nothing except pull tabs and a nickle.  So I moved down a little and marked out another block, this one a little smaller.  About halfway through that search area I was about 12 feet from the sidewalk and I got a 41 on the Manticore that was on the surface.  The grass there was about 3 inches deep so I pulled out my pinpointer to locate whatever it was.  The pendant was there, completely covered with grass and was not visible to the eye.  My total search time was about 2 hours.

Lost Gold Cross…Found At Iowa City, Iowa

I received a call about a lost gold cross. They were in Iowa City for the Hawkeye homecoming game against Northwestern. They were tailgating before the game when a girl lost her sentimental gold cross that was once her grandmothers.

There was a grassy area where she thought it could have come off the chain around her neck. I arrived at halftime and did a grid search in the area for around 90 minutes until I found it.

It was a happy ending for everyone and the Hawks won too!

Lost Grandfathers Ring in Concrete Mix

We got a call from a gentleman who was mixing concrete for a row of 2 X 2 Steps.  He was making about 20 steps for a customers’ walkway.  In the process, due to some recent weight loss, his treasured ring which his Grandfather had worn his entire life and then passed on to our him disappeared.  Short story, he had the ring on, made 20 concrete steps and 2 hours later when finished the ring was gone.

He was pretty sure it was in the 3rd step as a bag of quikCrete had burst open and he had scooped concrete with his hands.  Upon arrival with our Garrett AT Pro Metal Detectors we began scanning each step.  Few normal beeps and noises until I reached the 1st step.  It was not a normal Gold Signal but it was extremely strong.  I told the customer, I’m not sure it’s your ring but there’s definitely something there.

He said OK and picked up the 2X2 step and threw it on the ground breaking it into pieces, then he yelled “There it Is”. He did a little dance in the yard, gave us a big hug and told us we made his year.

This hobby/business is so much fun…

Lord of the Rings

Jeremy, thank you so much. Backstory: this is a custom wedding band that reflects our shared love of Lord of the Rings trilogy story. We’ve read the books and watched the movies many, many times. I was doing yard work and pulling weeds. I noticed the ring was missing when I went to throw the weeds in the yard waste dumpster. I was searching through the yard waste dumpster, the trash bag I had just taken out, and crawling around the area I was doing yard work for 2 days. That’s when we found your website. Lost Tiffany Diamond Ear Ring Skydiving

We got call from Faith, she said she was Skydiving for the first time.  Once she landed in the field she was taking off her Goggles and felt her brand NEW (only had them 24 hours/10yr anniversary gift) Gold & Diamond Ear Ring flew off.  She immediately dropped to her knees with her parachute still attached and started looking for her ear ring.   Her partner and all of the staff at the Sky Diving Club searched and searched but with no luck.  They bought a metal detector NO Luck, the had someone come out with a better Metal Dectector- NO Luck.  Someone suggested she better hire a Pro, so she called “The Dallas Ringfinders”.

We got the call 1 week after the loss, we scheduled to come out after church on Sunday and met the couple and all 7 of the staff of the Sky Diving Club, everyone there had been searching for the Ear Ring.  Great thing was the staff had put out a orange cone at the landing location where Faith had landed.  Ellen & I got our Garrett AT Pro Metal Detectors and  our Garrett Water Proof Pinpointers and began our search… it only took a minute.  I got a solid 45 gold signal at less than 2 inches deep.  I checked the site with my Pinpointer but go No signal, I then cleared the dried grass with my foot and scanned again,  still getting the 45 Gold signal indicator.  I then bent down and slowly and carefully scanned the area with my pinpointer and got a hit on the edge of the thick grass I had cleared.. still seeing nothing I use my hand to slowly clear the grass and then I saw the “Glint”.  What fun to return a beautiful ear ring..

Lost Aggie Ring to the Yellow Duckies

What a fun search, we got a call from a retired Fire Chief in Lewisville, Texas.  He was helping out with a community Fundraiser where they pushed 40,000 Yellow Duckies off the falls and each duck had a value, they raised over $200,000 but our Aggie while pushing the final Duckies off the falls his Aggie Ring flew off into the pond.
He was very distraught over loosing his ring and tried to rent a Metal Detector but not knowing how to use it was a challenge, he actually was talking to the Fire Department Rescue Scuba Divers about trying to find it for him when he found “The Ring Finders” and called us.

Ellen and I met him on Tuesday morning and found his ring, I love what we do….

Lost wedding ring in RV Park

While traveling back home from Arkansas over the weekend I had encountered a big mishap at our stop over outside of St Louis on Saturday night.

We had just parked the trailer and were walking the dogs when Penny’s leash caught my wedding rings just right and they went FLYING… Into the middle of a field of very thick, tall grass. Of course it was dark, why wouldn’t it be!! I didn’t move from my spot while Joe took the dogs back and grabbed flashlights. We searched for about 2 hours. We started weighing our options. Joe jumped on Reddit reaching out to see if he could find anyone willing to bring a metal detector for us. He stumbled upon a website called theringfinders.com

Luckily Jeremy Roth – The RingFinder’s responded right away and offered to come out early the very next morning so we wouldn’t have any delays in our travels. With his help I was able to recover my rings. And let me tell you, we weren’t even close to looking at where it had landed. The physics still isn’t adding up to me but what a relief!!! I’m forever grateful for Jeremy.

Lost Wedding Band returned to Owner who is in Hospice

    Today we drove 3 hours to find a gentleman’s Wedding Ring he lost gardening 6-8 months ago.  Today unfortunately his health has driven him into a Hospice situation.  His wife and adult children really wanted to have the ring found before he passes.   When his wife answered the door she broke down crying, “just knowing we were there to search for the ring”,  it was literally 100 degrees.  We began our search through the sticky blueberry bushes and all over the 3 acres.  The wife came out to speak with us, as Ellen was speaking to her, I continued to search.  And praise God not 10 feet from where she was standing I got a Gold Signal.  I reached down and got a really big smile on my face knowing  I had just found the ring.  The lady nearly jumped into my arms when we showed what we had found.  We so love what we get to do. 2 Rings Lost in Minnesota Lake One Recovered.

Back where it belongs

I received a call from a party that mentioned that he and his wife had taken their rings off to not loose them when they were going into a lake swimming.  The rings were put into the pocket of a swim suit.  Later after coming out of the water both, his and her rings were missing. These folk where in Minnesota staying at a vacation rental on a lake about 65 miles north of St. Paul. They went home back to Milwaukee totally heartbroken. They had no idea how to find the rings and contemplated buying a metal detector and driving back to find the rings. Following doing some research they came across the ring finders web site and found my name. They called and were quite surprised that there was people that look for lost rings on the internet.  They were even more surprised to find someone that could go up and look for the rings and they did not have to go back to Minnesota to recover their rings.

There was another group on the property and we had to wait.until they left before searching. But eventually the property was vacated and I went in and searched for the rings. It took about 3 hours and many signals that you find in lakes. Bottle caps, fishing lures and weights, old beer cans and old bait cans. But I finally got a hit that was strong and clean. I knew it was a ring before scooping it up. Yes, it was his ring. I found one of the two missing rings.  I continued to search really hitting the area that I found the one hoping that they fell out together. But no luck. So I finished up out in the water and swept the yard and again came up empty.  While it was not the perfect outcome, I can always go back and try again and see if I can get lucky one more time.  Congratulations  on getting 1 of 2 back.
