Gold, Diamond and Ruby Ring Missing for 25+ years

We got a call from Kathleen, she is selling her family home and remembered that her Grandfather lost a very important ring in the yard one day 25+ Years Ago.  She said she had a dream about the ring and that it was in the front yard on the left side of the house.  Knowing the home would sell soon she got on the Internet and found us on “The Ring Finders.com”.  We came out the next day when it was 103 degrees in Garland, Texas.  Kathleen told us the story so Ellen and I geared up to start the search.  I began on the front left side of the house (just like Kathleen had seen in her dream) and had not gotten 10ft into my search next to a metal flower bed edging and got a 49-51 signal on my Garrett AT Pro so naturally I began to dig.  I turned over my first 5 inch scoop of dirt and the ring popped out.   I could not believe it myself.  25+ years and it was only 3-4 inches down.

Kathleen and her partner were so excited, tears and hugs and lot’s of “I can’t believe it” along with big smiles…. Another Great Find for the Ring Finders!

Water Recovery for Lost Heirloom Gold Ring in Oklahoma

This couple was enjoying a day of swimming with friends at a private lake in central Oklahoma when a treasured family heirloom slipped from her finger and disappeared beneath the water. I received a call from Jordan. Jordan explained that she was enjoying a day at the beach with her family. Jordan decided to wade into the water but took off her rings and was in the process of handing them to her dad when they slipped from his grip and fell into the water. The rings immediately disappeared. Jordan and both of her parents began frantically searching but repeatedly came up empty-handed. That’s when a neighboring beachgoer handed Jordan one of my cards. I took the short ride over from home and met up with the family on the beach less than 15 minutes later after gathering the backstory I found Jordan‘s mother standing in the water, right where the rings dropped. I proceeded into the water and on the first swing, got a low growl tone. After a couple scoops of sand, I had Jordan‘s ring back in my scoop.  Jordan‘s mother explained that this Ring was passed down to Jordan through the family over the years, so even though it was small in size, it had a tremendous amount of sentimental value attached to it. Found 22k Yellow Sapphire Ring on Davenport Beach

A couple of evenings ago fellow ring finder and metal detector expert Tom Tanner contacted me asking if I could get to a lost ring on a beach in Davenport, California.  Davenport is about 25 minutes away from my house, and the gentleman who lost the ring was able to find Tom through the ring finders network for assistance.  Indu had lost his ring a week earlier and I knew there would be a strong chance that through several tide cycles the ring had moved, had possibly been driven deep into the sand, or had even been found already.

After several emails during a busy day at work I agreed to meet the unfortunate gentleman Indu.  We agreed to meet at the beach at 8:00 am this morning.  As soon as Indu arrived he saw where he was standing when he lost his ring and how much the landscape had changed since he lost it, but we resolved to maintain hope and start the search.

Given that he had almost an exact location of where he lost the ring I decided to take this as “ground zero” and start a spiral pattern around this point, with Indu suggesting possible motion of where the ring could have travelled given the wave action on the day that he was there.  After about an hour and extensively searching in the most likely area around the ring, I told Indu that I was not very hopeful that we could find his ring and that if he had any other suggestions I was up for trying them.  He suggested one or two other spots and then as I was informing him that I thought our chances were very slim I also added that I would search in the nooks of the rocks that were located laterally along the beach from where he lost his ring.  I got about 50′ away from ground zero and got a great signal which, after just simply moving a bit of sand off, turned out to be Indu’s ring… a beautiful 22k gold ring with yellow sapphire.

As I told Indu that I had some good news for him we were both stunned and thrilled that we were able to find it in a surprisingly distant location from where he lost it.  Mother nature has a way of rapidly moving things on the beach and this hunt was a great example.

Lost Gold and Diamond Engagement Ring Recovered in Deale, Maryland!

I received a call from Mike this past weekend looking for my assistance in recovering his daughter’s lost engagement ring. Our initial plans to come out the next day was hampered by poor weather conditions so we moved it to the next day. This one was a bit challenging as the ring could be on land or in water about 4ft in depth. With that said, I brought both my land and water metal detectors with me. From here on out, I’ll let Julie, Mike’s wife, tell of her experience.
My daughter was going to go tubing with her husband and neighbors, so she put her engagement ring and wedding band inside her neighbor’s shoe on the pier to be safe and told her they were there. When they all returned to the pier, the neighbor’s little brother picked up his sister’s shoes to carry them back home, unaware that my daughter’s rings were in one of the shoes. He carried them on the pier, up a grassy bank and up to the house. When my daughter looked in the shoes, her wedding band was still in the shoe, but her engagement ring was gone. Her husband is from Africa and when she went to visit him and meet his family he proposed to her in Namibia. Her engagement ring from Africa was priceless to her. I immediately started Googling metal detectors and came across Jim’s website. My husband called him the next morning and he came out a day later due to the weather. My husband and young neighbor showed Jim the path that was taken with the shoes. Jim started searching on land and then moved to the water and then searched on land again a little farther out than he did at first. He found it! We are all forever grateful for Jim. He made a lot of people very happy that day!
I’m so glad that I was successful helping out Mike, Julie and their family. Great people and good conversation throughout the day!

Engagement Ring Lost in the Lake-Found!

I got a call from Sydnie on Saturday the 4th and she said her friend who was down from Ohio for the 4th had lost her engagement ring in the lake right behind her house. They were floating about fifteen to twenty feet from the dock. Before I could make it over there they had to return home without the ring. I was able to get there for the search on Tuesday. I geared up for the search using my Manticore with the Gray Ghost Amphibian headphones and a sand scoop. Fortunately the water was only around 4 to 4 1/2 feet deep there. The bottom was a very shallow layer of soft mud, maybe less that 2 inches, with a hard pan of clay underneath. That made it difficult to use a sand scoop, but I made it work. Closer in to the dock there was a lot of iron and other debris that made the going slow, but as I got further away from the dock those signals were further in between. The water was deep enough that I couldn’t see the screen on the Manticore, and the lost ring was white gold so I could concentrate on the low tones. After about an hour and a half I was at least twenty feet away from the dock, maybe a little more, and I got the tell tale double beep low tone that was very strong. The lost ring was white gold so I could concentrate on the low tones. I lifted the detector out of the water to see the screen and it said 06 for the target ID. With the hard pan clay down there it took me three attempts to get the target in the scoop, but there it was, a dainty white gold ring.

Wedding Ring Lost During a Water Ballon Fight-Found

Chris contacted me on Sunday morning and said his wife had lost her ring in the front yard while throwing water ballons on the 4th. He showed me the area they were at so I started there. I was fairly certain that early on in the conversation he said it was white gold, so I was mainly concentrating on shallow low signals. But, after around 30 minutes I got a very strong 72 on the Manticore with the telltale double beep that said it was very shallow or on the surface. A 72 is definately not white gold, but a silver or copper tone, and of course I investigated to see what it would be. It was the lost ring, and after looking at it I saw a 925 inside the band. So it was silver and not white gold. His wife was estatic and said she went to sleep crying the night before. In my book they are newlyweds, only 6 months in. A successful recovery!

Wedding Band Lost While Preparing Raised Plant Bed-Found!

Nick contacted me and said that his wife had lost her wedding band while preparing a raised plant bed, but she wasn’t sure which one. He and his wife has a matching tungsten carbide band set. The first bed I checked had a good signal, but it turned out to be a larger deep signal. The second bed was larger in size, but all of them had galvanized metal sheeting for the side walls. That was a problem, but I managed to work around it. In the second bed I found a signal that was showing a 30 on the Manticore, but was close to the metal side wall so that number may have been skewed. That 30 on the Manticore turned out to be her ring. It was about four inches deep. The total seach time was only about twelve minutes.

Lost Wedding Band … Found in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Received a call this morning about a lost wedding band. The lady had been on a walking trail last night and lost her wedding ring which was a three ring set.

Her husband and her found two of them right away but the third one couldn’t be found. I gridded and searched the area this morning for two hours and

didn’t find it until I went to the opposite side of the trail and there it was.

Happy to find it for her and I know she was grateful to have it back.

VolleyBall Court Recovery in Waukegan, Il

Received a call from a woman who lost her 22K gold family heirloom ring while playing volleyball at the Waukegan Municipal Beach volleyball courts. It was a beautiful, large ring, which made it a fairly easy recovery. Nothing beats returning a treasured family heirloom to its rightful owners. One very happy family!
