Maddy called last Monday January 3, 2022 requesting my service to locate her ring that she had just lost in the back yard. I agreed to go out and do a search on Wednesday afternoon. I arrived at Maddy’s house and she explained what happened that day. She was walking down the stairs from her deck and slipped into the snow. When she got up and shook her hand she felt her ring fly off her finger.
Maddy told me the ring was given to her by her mother and was very sentimental to her.
I spent 2.5 hours in the extreme cold weather. It was -37 Celsius and my equipment started acting up in the cold! I decided to call it a day. I told Matty that Sunday would be a good day to continue the search since it was going to be -15. A balmy day compared to the past week.
I arrived at 1pm and within 5 minutes I found her ring in the snow bank! I have no idea how come I missed it on my first search. I believe it had to be the bitter cold weather affecting my equipment.
Thank you Maddy.

Heirloom Signet Ring lost at Taupo Bay – Huge potential area, Found by Experienced Ring Finder

Ring Finder – Ring Recovery Specialist…Lost ring? Lost necklace? Lost keys?… Metal Detector Service – Call ASAP 021 401626
Got a message from Krista
” Lost my ring at Taupo Bay today”.
After delving deeper, it transpired she might have lost her treasured heirloom rose gold ring at one of several locations: Washing the car, washing the dog, Potting/manuring some plants, swimming with the dog at one end of Taupo Bay, or when a boogie board was taken from her at the other end… HUGE potential area and with no start point. This is where experience takes precedence over ‘brute force’ (eg trying to cover every square centimeter). I met Krista  at her home, quickly eliminating the car/dog washing areas and the freshly manured garden plants as I waited for her to get ready to head down to the beach, although I already had a hunch where the lost ring would be found… I then followed her to the beach.
There were two locations of interest here, where she went into the water with her dog, and where a boogie board was taken off her. I chose to clear the latter first as it was at highest risk of being picked up by a casual holidaying metal detectorist as it was in the dry sand zone above the high tide mark and this time of year, coils are prevalent…
I cleared the highest probability area of the dry sand and with the tide about to turn shifted my focus to where she had taken the dog into the sea. I could return to complete the dry sand with a high intensity search if necessary.
At the swim spot at the other end of the bay, I asked Krista to retrace her movements and interactions from when she parked the truck. I mentally marked out the highest probability area on the sands as she retold her activities that afternoon and I settled in for a long search into the evening… I typically allow a minimum of four hours which, from experience, is sufficient to recover 90% of items. If the item is at a high risk of being lost to other detectorists, casual passers-by or a dynamic environment, eg surf, I often extend the hours to try and secure the lost item in the initial search phase.
After several circuits of the search pattern, I hit a nice solid tone at the waters edge – 3 inches under the surface lay her heirloom signet ring. It was outside the area she thought it would be [Trust No-one, Assume Nothing, Check everything] but the important thing was – It had been found.
I held it up and started to walk back towards her, a big grin on my face, a grin matched only by hers once she realised it was actually her lost ring and not someones elses.
All done, I packed up and headed home to get ready for my day job.

September 2021 I received a call from Robert the owner operator of Boat Snake Yacht Maintenance. He explains his line of work is performing yacht maintenance to include every thing from wash downs to full vessel detailing. While he was recently serving one of his clients boats they took a wake surging the vessel and it knocked the gunnel ladder off the boat. Unfortunately it did not land on the marina deck but took a plunge and went straight to the bottom of the lake. He told me he had been searching on line to find an exact replacement but was having no success in finding what he needed. That is when he decided to seek out a diver for hire. He called one of the local marine guys and for what ever reason they provided a referral to call the SeattleRingHunter.

Having experience in Lake Union I gladly agreed to help Rob. We set time to meet and the mission wast set. The morning of the recovery Rob was able to accommodate his schedule to meet me and show me first hand where the ladder had fallen into the lake. Having a first hand account identifying the drop zone made for a straight forward recovery plan.  After executing the recovery I was happy to hand the gunnel ladder over to him with smiles all around. We were both happy to have retrieved his clients ladder for the best all around solution. I applaud Rob the level of customer service he provided to his cline. It’s nice to see a high level of care offered to those he services. If you are in the need for some yacht maintenance be sure to reach out to Robert for a quick chat and tell him the SeattleRingHunter said to say hi.

James had been doing some gardening for a lady in Pasadena when somewhere in the garden his ring was gone. James had only been married two months, so this ring was very important. The lady he was working for contacted me and asked if I could come and help him. I let her know I was available immediately and would come right over.

When I got there James and his client met me and showed me the garden which was covered in very thick bushes that he had been working to cut back. He showed me where he had been working, and also that he had thrown out some of the cuttings already. I began in the area he had been working, and around some of the areas he had been as well. No ring found. We then went over to the trash cans and dumped them for a search just in case it had come off while he was throwing the cuttings in them. No ring again. Time now to search “Out of the Box”. I started looking in areas that did not seem logical, but I know from experience that that is how I need to think for some searches. Then while looking under a bush that was in the wrong place, I received a great signal, looked, and found his ring. What great day!

Erin contacted me hoping I could help her. It was later in the evening and she had lost her wedding and engagement rings while at the beach earlier in the day. She and her family were unable to find them and seemed to have lost a bit of hope until they found my site. I let them know that even though it was late, I would meet them at the beach for a search, to which they agreed, and I was on my way.

Erin and her father-in-law met me at the area of the loss and showed me what had happened. They had marked the area, so they had a good idea of where to look, that always helps me to help the person I am doing a search for. I began my grid up, back, and up again. I got a good signal and scooped up her wedding band. I went over the spot again, but nothing. I then turned the direction of the swing over the spot again and got another good signal on the engagement ring. I figured I did not hear it on the first pass because it had “parachuted” into the sand and was vertical and turned so that it would only sound to a particular direction. Anyway, I was able to make Erin’s day, and also ensure a good night’s sleep for her.

I was contacted by Laura who had lost beloved bracelet at the beach after a surf session and was hoping I could help her find it. I let her know that I was available to meet her there as soon as she could get back there. She agreed, and I was headed out for the search.

I got to the beach a little before Laura, and got my equipment together for the search. Laura arrived shortly after and walked me over to the area where she believed the loss to have occurred. I was ready and began a grid pattern search. Pass after pass finding a few coins, and some trash metal, but no bracelet. I expanded the search area as I continued, and then finally received a very solid signal, dug, and found the missing jewelry. Laura was very happy to have her bracelet back. Her beautiful smile says it all.

I was contacted by Kirill who was with a friend when she lost her ring that had been a gift from years earlier. It was later in the evening, and I asked if they would be able to wait for me, as I would leave immediately to come and do the search. They said they could, so I was on my way.

When I got there it took a bit of communication to find them in the darkness, but once found Kirill and his friend Gerda took me out to the area they believed the ring was lost. They explained what had happened, and they had been searching for the ring with no luck. I got my equipment ready and began my search. it took me no more than 5 minutes, and there was that sweet tone in my headphones that told me I had found something good. I dug, and in my scoop was a nice gold ring which I reached in and held up for them to see. Gerda was very happy to have her sentimental ring back, and I was happy to have been able to find it for her.

Special Silver Ring Lost in Yard in Palos Verdes…Found and Happily Returned.

Leonard called because he had lost his silver ring in his yard while throwing a ball to his dogs. It was a special gift from a friend, so it had a certain sentimental value for him. We arranged a time for me to do the search, and I went to help him in the recovery.

When I got there Leonard took me into the backyard where he showed me where the loss took place. There were a couple of planters and some bushes lining a grassy area, and not too far from the side of the area was a short fence that divided the yard from a brushy hillside. I began with the most likely area first in front of where he made the throw. Not finding the ring I began to work my way out of what would have been the line of the throw into the bushes and planters out to where the ball ended up; still no ring. I was sure hoping it did not go over the fence into the hillside brush. Before I started looking over the fence, I began to work the bushes behind the throwing point, and off to the side of where he had been standing. When sweeping under one of the bushes I got a good signal, lifted to branches, and there it was. I lifted it up to show them, and they showed such surprise that it had ended up there. I believe that “Out of the Box” thinking is what makes The Ring Finders so successful. Sometimes it just isn’t where you think it is. So glad to be a help that day.
