A few days ago I was asked to help recover a ring that was possibly dropped as leaving the beach. Richard Browne a ring finder and myself grid the area to no avail. While searching for the ring I found a key with a tag that looked like it went to a bike lock of some sorts. I didn’t think much of it, till Rick waved me over. He was chatting with Pierre that was on his bike, and he was asking if we had found a key that he had been there searching for it the day before. I told him yes, that I had found a key and sure enough it fit perfectly into his bike lock. Great to save all objects when you can. Un expected return.

Family Crest Ring Reunited. 21rst Birthday Present Ring Reunited

Got a call from Luke Barube last night, he is also a Ring Finder. After getting home from finding a ring for someone yesterday, he received another call about a family crest ring lost, because it was so far away he called me in on it. I asked Luke to pass my info along to him.
Later that evening, I received a call from Andy, who said he had lost his 14K yellow Gold family crest ring, it happened about a month earlier in chest deep water, while playing with his dog.
 I told him that there is no guarantee, but I will give it a heck of a try. Andy also said it was a Birthday present for turning 21. We walked down to the beach a few blocks away. I asked him to walk out to the area, stop and turn around, that I would walk out to him. I turned on my detector, and walked two feet while swinging, and my very first signal turned out was his family crest ring staring up at me in my scoop.It was very deep, even after a month in the saltwater. I motioned to him to come over, and he just couldn’t believe I had it already, or that I had found it at all. This is why we do what we do. After a few woo hoo’s and fist pumps, we walked back to the cottage and he yelled to his wife Dianne “We got it” her response was that’s just incredible. Congratulations. Andy said he has a real Treasure story to tell at the BBQ this weekend. I told him he’ll be a hit. Glad it back where it belongs.

Ring lost at Fiesta Island Found

Angie and Steve came to San Diego to enjoy a day at Fiesta Island and the Over-The-Line Tournament going on yesterday. Angie removed her beautiful engagement ring to apply some lotion, set the ring in her lap, and…..well, you can guess the rest. The ring ended up in the soft sand and disappeared from view. They and others around them tried to find the ring, but, to no avail. Some consultation with others, an online search, contact with fellow RingFinder Curtis Cox further north and his referral to me, got the ball rolling. They were still there at the site, so, I gathered my gear and headed out for the normally short 10 mile journey…..and a journey it was. It took an hour to get there, and parking was virtually non-existent. I managed to squeeze between two vehicles parked at the edge of the road (with just a couple of inches on each side to spare) and park down on the beach. A short hike to meet Steve, and an even shorter hike to the search area. This event has been going on here for decades and always draws a huge crowd. The search area was right next to one of the dozens of ball fields, where spectators have been dropping pull tabs, bottle caps, and other metal trash from day one. I expected this to take a while to sift through. Steve and Angie cleared the area of chairs and other items while I fired up the detector and donned my gear. Sure enough, all sorts of signals were hitting my ears with just the slightest movement of the coil. One nice strong 12 on my Equinox alerted me to a shallow target after only a minute or two. I zeroed in on the signal with my pin pointer and pulled Angie’s “precious” out into the sunlight again. Cheers went up all around the area, and a very happy Angie and Steve can now travel home in a much better frame of mind. I received a call late in the afternoon of July 4th from a lady who informed me she was in about 4 feet of water when a wave smashed into her. She exited the water and realized her wedding ring set was missing from her finger. She said she searched not only in the water but also about 100 yards away where she was sitting. She believed her ring was lost in the water but not 100% sure. She was at a beach called Little Talbot Island which was about 40 miles from me. I determined the best time to search was the next day. I searched for about 4 hours both in the water and on the beach with no luck.  I called her up and let her know that I did not find the ring but not to give up hope as there would be some tide changes in a few days.  I think she gave up faith after hearing I did not find her rings. I returned 2 days later and found her wedding set in the water about 12″-14″ buried under the sand.  When I sent her a picture of her wedding set she called me crying and could not believe they were found…

Gold Signet Ring Lost for Four Years-Found!

I received a call from Mike on Tuesday 28th and he said he had lost his gold signet ring in his backyard several years ago.  He said they were moving and the ring was a gift from his wife and he really wanted to find it before they moved.  We made arrangements for Wednesday afternoon.  Around four years ago he had been clearing brush in the backyard and towards the end of the day he noticed his ring was gone.  They had been piling the brush next to the street on the side yard, so that’s where I started my search.  I really didn’t think the ring would be there, but I had to eliminate that area of possibility.  The huge problem I had to deal with was underground power lines next to the street, (around 14 KV), and it was really messing with my detector.  I had to go very slow in that area until I got far enough away that my detector started to settle down a little.  After a little over an hour I finally eliminated the side yard.  The back of the house had a pretty steep slope that was covered in pine straw mulch.  I know from experience that pine straw on a slope can be very slippery.  He had mentioned that he had slipped a couple of times on that slope, but didn’t remember exactly where that happened.  That’s where I focused my attention next, and after I looked at it more carefully, towards the corner of the house the slope wasn’t quite as steep, so I figured anybody coming through that area would would pick that spot.  As I got halfway down the slope I got a consistent 12:20 on my CTX, and it was shallow, (showing one inch).  If you’re looking for a gold ring that’s a very good signal.  I brushed the straw away and didn’t see anything visible, but my pinpointer said there was something there just under the surface.  I brushed the soil a little with my fingers and saw the corner of a gold rim showing through!  I called Mike over, as he was just about to go back in the house.  His wife came out and she was elated!  She said she figured it was gone and never to be found again.  I think I was as excited as they were, because that was a tough search having to deal with the underground power lines.  Knowing your machine, and asking the right questions makes all the difference.  The entire search took around two hours.

Rose Gold Wedding Ring Lost On Emerald Isle Beach Found And Returned

Nicholas sent me a message very early in the morning about his wife’s wedding ring being lost on the Emerald Isle beach.  I did some investigative work ( asking for location pictures, ring description, etc.) and made a plan to head to the beach.  After some communications, I was able to find the area they were set up and started my search.  Unfortunately, after my first attempt, I only found a few items and no ring.  Nicholas’s reply was “That’s unfortunate.”  I woke up early the next morning to head back there with my CTX-3030 with a 17″ search coil to cover the area without missing spots and to hopefully gain a few more inches of depth.  I also recruited the service of my friend, Justin.  He has helped me in the past even when I was out of state.  Justin was using his Minelab Equinox with a 15″ search coil.  Again after hours of searching, we were not finding the ring and decided it was time to take a break and evaluate our next plan.  I decided to widen the search area of the slope they had set up on and thought where the ring may have fallen out of the purse it was placed for safe keeping.  Just started to work the area between from where they arrived and exited the beach, and their set up location near the water.   Finally, Justin received a solid tone and was able to pull Christina’s ring out of the soft sand.

Lost Ring Found in Wakefield RI.

On June 5, I received a call from Sarah, requesting help to find a ring she had lost in her yard. When I arrived, she explained that the ring was her father’s ring and that he passed away recently.  She had his ring on her thumb and was doing some yard work.  When she noticed that the ring was missing, she called a friend, who I had helped to find a ring a couple of years ago.  The friend recommended that Sarah call me. I searched her yard and was concerned, because it was getting dark.  After 45 minutes of searching, I located the ring.  She was so happy to have her father’s ring back, and I was excited to be able to reunite her with this precious item.

Lost Diamond Engagement Ring Recovered and Returned in Wilmington, DE!

In her own words via text Valerie was desperate and distraught when she reached out to me to help find her missing diamond engagement ring. She lost it in the front yard of her Wilmington, DE home…she actually lost both her wedding band and engagement ring but was able to find the band after frantic hours of searching. She spent hours searching for the white gold, diamond engagement ring before finding me in the Ring Finder Directory. She texted me and I called her right away…told her I could be there that afternoon. She was stuck at work till 9 pm but said her daughter, Kylie, would be there and could assist me. When I got to her home I called Valerie and asked where she was in the yard when she lost her rings…she told me sort of in the middle…maybe to the left of the front door. The grass was a bit high and bushy so I could see how it would be difficult to find the ring without a metal detector. Anyway 60 seconds later and maybe 5-6 sweeps of my machine I got the all-to-familiar surface gold tone on my machine! Bent down…parted the grass…and there was her beautiful ring!  I had knocked on the door to introduce myself to Kylie when I first arrived….now I was knocking on the door again 3 minutes later to hand her her mom’s ring! She was very happy I was able to find and return her mom’s lost ring. I understand Valerie did some screaming at work when she heard the news! Always fun and rewarding when you can come through for nice people!

Engagement Ring Lost In Emerald Isle Waters Recovered By Crystal Coast Ring Finders

It was a beautiful Saturday for a swim along the Southern Outer Banks, also known as the Crystal Coast.  After Melanie was in water up to her waist, she thought it best to remove her rings before proceeding.  Her intention was to attach them to a hair band.  After removing her rings, her engagement ring slipped out of her hand into the Emerald Isle surf.  Her father recommended that she contact Crystal Coast Ring Finders after he posted a plea on a social media sight and received a recommendation to contact us.  Melanie called me shortly after loosing her ring and I made plans to meet her to begin the search.  I firmly believe her quick action to notify me as soon as possible definitely helped me locate her ring in the water.  Her and her husband knew the general area of where she was standing in the waist deep water at the time of the loss ring.  The beach in this area currently has very soft sand and heavy objects such as gold can sink below detection depth quickly.  She explained to me it had been a bad day with the loss of the ring and missing a flight but I am sure I helped ease her troubles with the thing that meant so much to her

Lost Rings…Found Cedar Rapids, Iowa

I was contacted by a woman who lost her engagement ring and wedding band while cooling off in about four feet of water at a city park.

She met me there today and stood in about the same area and I was able to recover both rings. It was gratifying to return her rings. I think she said the engagement ring was 50 years old and was handed down in the family.
