Surfer Lost His Wedding Ring .. Santa Monica, CA. .. Found in Sand

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Casey came in from surfing to take his ring off, because he felt his fingers shrinking in the cold water. As he knelt down next to his surfboard in the sand, he pulled his ring off his finger. The ring just popped off suddenly flying in the sand. It was a plain white gold band that represented 10 years of marriage.

After asking Casey a couple questions about what had happened, I consoled him that if he could wait in the area we could easily find his ring. We met about 45 minutes later.
He showed me his actions as best he could remember. I started a grid that I thought would be a quick find. 20’x 20′ area. No ring! We moved the surfboard starting to grid search the other side. Boom! The sweet sound of gold. Casey’s ring in the scoop. Amazing how far the ring flew as he pulled the ring from his finger. Casey is from Chicago, now living and working in sunny So.Cal. A nice guy and a pleasure to help him find his special ring.

Wedding Ring Lost in Central Louisiana – Found

  • from Lafayette (Louisiana, United States)

I received an email from Jason saying that his wife, Patrice, had lost her platinum engagement ring while playing with her kids in their back yard. She then bought a detector and tried to find it, without success. He was asking about my services and availability. I was able to start the hunt the next morning at 7:30. Patrice grabbed one of my detectors and helped with the search. The search area was not very large. It included a fenced back yard, a strip of un-fenced land bordering a lake and part of the neighbor’s back yard. About halfway through a grid search in the fenced back yard, I had a good hit and saw the ring, visible when the thick grass was moved. I was happy that the lake had not accepted the ring during their time fishing.

Thank you Jason and Patrice for the generous reward. This will help keep our services available.img_0568img_0589img_0590

Lost and Found Ring

I had two of my past clients who jumped at the opportunity to tell their stories.  I love it when people tell the stories from their point of view – they add so much to the story.  As we all know, a ring is so much more than just a ring.  Both Laura and Jon explain in the podcast why their rings meant so much to them.

Lost ring at Pacific Beach Found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Thursday evening, Paolo decided to go into the ocean, so, he removed his wedding ring and gave it to his wife Celine for safekeeping. Celine placed it on one of her fingers and waited on a berm in the dry sand for his return. As the sun was setting, they got up and left the beach. Once they reached their car, it was discovered the wedding ring was missing from Celine’s finger. They returned to the area where they had been, but, in the failing light and acres of sand, the search was fruitless. Fast forward to Tuesday when I received an e-mail from Celine who relayed the sad story and asked if I could help find it. We made arrangements to meet the next morning at 10am. Being several days later, I explained that many different fates for the ring could have occurred. It’s a popular beach for other detectorist to search, so, it could have already been found, the beach grooming machines usually go through the area early Monday morning, the high surf could have washed over the area and buried it, etc. I met Celine up on the boardwalk and we hiked down to the search area. She was a little uncertain of the exact area where she was sitting, so, I searched many spots one by one, eliminating them all. I then started running a grid from where she was sitting to the stairs where they exited the beach. After 4 passes and about an hour and a half, I finally got a likely sound and reading on my E-trac. One scoop and I pulled up Paolo’s ring. Celine was amazed that it was found, as, she figured it was a long shot. It was just a matter of time on this one. I was finding other good targets in the area, so, I knew nobody else had detected there. I just had to keep expanding the search area until I ran across it. They had been married for just a month, so, I was happy to get this ring back to them, so it can add another chapter in it’s story. Celine decided not to tell Paolo right away, but, instead to surprise him at dinner! I bet he will be!20161116_113327 20161116_113352

Platinum Wedding Band and Gold Heirloom Ring Lost in Redondo Beach, CA…Found and Cheerfully Returned.

  • from Redondo Beach (California, United States)

p1000199p1000200

I received a call a couple of days ago from Shilpa about two of her rings she lost earlier in the day at the beach. One of the rings was her platinum wedding band, and the other was an heirloom ring that had been in the family for a long time. I was able to go right away, and was there in about 20 minutes.

When I arrived, she told me that she had been on her towel and took her rings off to apply sunscreen. Later she got up to go, and shook out her towel. It wasn’t long after that she realized she had left her rings on the towel when she lifted it up and shook the sand off. I got ready and began my search. I walked a couple of grid lines when Shilpa directed me closer to where she believed she shook the towel. I then swung a couple of times and got a good signal, the heirloom ring was in the scoop. swung once more, and the wedding band was in the scoop. She was so happy to have them back, and I was so happy to have been a part of being able to help her. Great day!

Lost My Ring In The Garden, North Vancouver, BC.

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

It was a rainy day and I got a call to search for a lost ring in a garden in Lynn Valley, North Vancouver. I love these calls and rain or snow wouldn’t stop me from searching!

The young lady was certain the ring was some where in the garden because she took it off and put it in her jacket pocket along with her glasses.

She found the glasses in the garden but no ring, I started by searching the bags of garden trimmings but no luck. I then began to search the garden area and still no luck, I asked more question and she told me that she spent an hour in the garden shed.

Bing! That was the one place we hadn’t checked and after searching the whole shed the very last plastic planter I got a great signal with my pin pointer.

There it was in the bottom of the plastic planter…it was a nice relief to see it there as we were running out of options! Its funny where rings can show up and if it didn’t it may have been there a very long time.

Wedding Ring Lost while throwing mulch and planting shrubs in Katy, Texas (found) by John Volek

I was contacted by Brian regarding his lost wedding ring in the front yard of his residence in Katy, Texas, Brian advised he had been landscaping his front yard, throwing down new mulch and plant new shrubs when he discovered his wedding ring missing from his finger. Brian said he spent a hour or better looking for his lost ring in the front yard, but was unsuccessful at finding it.

Arrangements were made to search for Brian’s lost ring the following day, and the point of contact would be his daughter Ashley. You can see from the smiles on Brian’s daughter and son, it was a good out-come.

Check out the video to see the recovery!

He was raking and bagging leaves in the back yard of the house they just moved into one week ago! It was a quick and successful search. They were so happy!! He’s going to get it resized very soon. She offered me food and he gave me 2 huge boxes of DVD movies! I love this hobby!

Wedding Ring Lost at Winery .. Temecula, CA. .. Found in Landscaping

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Mathias text me to ask if I would be available for a ring search in Temecula, CA. I answered, explaining we need to discuss details and get permission if it’s private property.. He was able to get permission for the next morning from the winery. His wife Brittany would be there to meet me to show me possible locations where her two white gold wedding rings may have come off her fingers.
Brittany had last remembered seeing her rings the morning they went to the winery. She discovered her two wedding rings missing that afternoon as they were leaving. They had walked all over the the property and she couldn’t recall anything she might have done to cause the rings to slip from her finger.
They reported the loss to the management but nobody had found any rings. After thinking about the events of the day Brittany remembered swinging her arms as she talked. We went to the area where that had happened. I was able to find the wedding band but the engagement ring was not in the same grassy landscaping. The rest of the area was asphalt and hard packed dirt walkways. Another point was that the larger of the rings was the probably the first to fall off. It could have fallen off her finger anywhere before this location. With not many places for a ring to hide, it may have been picked up by one of the many tourists that visit this popular winery.
It had been four days sense the loss of the rings. After going over the grassy landscaping four times with two different metal detectors I felt confident that the second ring was not in that grass.
Brittany thanked me for finding the one ring and realized that we had found what we can call a needle in a hay stack.
It would have been easier if she felt it slip from her finger and if we could have got to search the area sooner. With the information they first gave me, it didn’t seem likely to find any ring. This was one time I as glad that I say, “I will Try Anywhere”

Wedding Ring lost, Found, and Returned on Siesta Key, Florida

Jesse and Grisel decided to take a short weekend break on Siesta Key to spend some quality time with just each other. On their first evening at the hotel they decide to walk to the beach and enjoy the beautiful sunset. They found a place where they could sit in the sand close to the water and just enjoy each others presence as the sun dropped into the gulf. When they stood up, Jesse was brushing the sand off of his bottom when he felt his wedding ring slip off of his finger.

They looked every where and sifted through the sand thinking they would find it, but it was not to be. Jesse remembered a guy he once talked to that had recovered rings with a metal detector and decided to see if he could find someone on the internet. He googled find ring with metal detector and up popped The Ring Finders. He found the local SRARC ring finders group and called Stan Flack. Stan Called Mike Miller who then set up a recovery hunt for the next morning. Mike showed up at 7:00 am and met Jesse and his wife Grisel at the beach where they took him to the spot the ring had been lost. In a minute the ring was found and returned.

Both Jesse and Grisel were extremely happy along with Mike. We all left the beach together and walked to a restaurant where we enjoyed getting to know each other over a wonderful breakfast.

SRARC is always very pleased when we can successfully recover a cherished item for someone.
