How to find a lost ring in the Snow in Barrie, Ont.

  • from Toronto (Ontario, Canada)

Following an early snowfall in Barrie, I was contacted by Alana. She had lost her engagement ring outside of her 2nd story condo, following the 1st big snow of the season. Once I reached site, I reviewed the situation & using my “Detecting Detective” skills, I was able to locate the ring in under 5 minutes. Urgency was required, as the snowplow was waiting to clear the snow.

She was SO happy! Another successful ring find, in the snow!

Alana said “I lost my engagement ring in the snow,  during the middle of the night and was so distraught. I messaged Paul in the morning and he came that day. Not only did he find the ring within 5 minutes but he was also very kind and positive the entire time. It was worth every dollar and I would 100% recommend him, without his service my engagement ring would’ve been lost forever. ”

WWII Heirloom Wedding Ring Lost & Found

  • from Grand Haven (Michigan, United States)

I received a text from Henry who had lost his wedding ring on New Year’s Day in the parking lot at the Gerald R Ford International Airport.  He had returned 3 times to try and locate it with no luck.  He and his wife had recently moved to the Grand Rapids area from TX and were desperate to locate his ring which had been his wife’s Great Grandfather’s.   It was one of only a few items that her great grandparents were able to escape Poland with during WWII.  It was engraved with their wedding date back in 1923.  Even though the parking lot had been plowed, I was able to locate it covered in snow after a short search.  It was a little dinged up from being run over by the plow but Henry was amazed and elated he had it back to pass on to the next generation.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I received a frantic call from Lucy, who had lost her cherished heirloom gold necklace and medallion while swimming in the surf at Emma Wood Beach in Ventura. The loss happened at low tide, which meant any recovery attempt would involve braving the cold Pacific Ocean waves. I arrived at the site within an hour of her call and spent two hours battling the surf, but the necklace remained elusive. I explained to Lucy that an upcoming good minus tide on New Year’s Day could improve our chances, as the waves would recede further, allowing me to search deeper in the water.
Yesterday, it was time to head back out for another try. Since the initial loss, the area had seen over 8 inches of rain, causing significant sand movement and shifting tides—making the odds of recovery even slimmer. But with faith and my trusted Minelab Manticore detector, I prayed for success. After about 30 minutes of grid searching, I hit a deep non-ferrous tone with a fluctuating ID that screamed “valuable target.” Standing in shin-deep water, it took 10 determined scoops to extract it, as waves kept refilling the hole with sand. On that final scoop, I spotted the chain dangling from my scoop—Lucy’s family heirloom necklace was found!
When it comes to how to find lost jewelry in the sand at the beach, remember that time is critical. Lost Gold Ring Recovered Lake Tahoe

  • from Carson City (Nevada, United States)

– Lost Gold Ring Recovery—in the snow—in South Lake Tahoe!
My first ring recovery of 2026!
Client contacted me on Instagram yesterday, 12/31/25, with a lost ring search request in his back-yard with 12+ inches of snow. Backstory: Client and friends were throwing snowballs in the back yard, during which one of the client’s friends noticed her gold ring was missing.
I arrived at 10am today, 1/1/26, and once the client explained the location and circumstances of the ring loss, I turned on my XP Deus 2 and began the search. On the fifth swing, I got a solid target with a VDI of 60. Scooped a handful of snow and used the pinpointer to reveal a thin gold ring. Client was happy with the quick search and recovery.

Bradley was out with his cousins enjoying the unreasonably warm day in late December. Doing what boys do they grabbed their fishing poles and hit a hole. While sitting there he moved over, accidentally knocking his phone off the ledge and then he watched it slide down before launching into the 38 degree water. He stripped down to his shorts and jumped in. His toes, not touching the bottom in most places, tried to feel for it. After 10-15 minutes he had to give up. He then turned to the web and found me on Theringfinders.com. We met a couple days later and hit it immediately. Always my honor to help put a smile back on a face.
