Recieved a message about a lost man’s wedding ring while playing sand volleyball. We planned a search before the next sessions on games happening. Started the search with no ring then continue searching and there it was hidding in the sand. They was very happy to have the ring returned to them.

LOST DIAMOND RING AT CRYSTAL COVE IN NEWPORT BEACH FOUND AND RETURNED

Deana called me late Saturday night and left a message, she said she lost her grandmother’s ring at Crystal Cove, and was devastated. I woke up early and heard the message, headed to the beach before I could get ahold of her. I arrived at the beach close by and heard back from her at 6:00 am. We agreed to meet there in about 20 minutes. When she got there, I told her that a big part of finding her ring was detective work. I explained that we need to retrace her steps from the Beach Combers Restaurant to the  pathway leading to the stairway, and then all the way up. When we got to the top, Deana sat on the bench to rest, she told me she did the same thing the night before. I said that this should be where we focus on the search. Just then, we both looked down and saw her ring in the dirt next to the bench. she was filled with emotion and happiness to have her grandmother’s ring back on her hand. What a great summer day! It was a pleasure to help Deana who was very grateful.

Great Grandfather’s Gold Cross and a new Gold Chain both Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned Ocean Isle, NC

On Monday, Aug 1st, I received a text message saying, “Can you help us locate a lost necklace? OIB 5 Jan Street?” I called the number attached to the text and spoke with Drew who stated a gold cross and chain had been lost but they weren’t sure where. I asked him if these could have been lost in the water, he assured me they weren’t. I told him I had another search scheduled for 3 pm and wouldn’t be able to be there until sometime between 6-7 pm. He agreed and I told him I’d call him when I was on my way. After finishing up with an unsuccessful search in the ocean for another gold chain with a pendant, I headed towards Ocean Isle. I called Drew and told him I was on my way and would be there in 35-40 minutes. On the drive I’m thinking about how difficult it is to find a Gold Chain. The last few searches for gold chains haven’t been successful and I was hoping I’d have better luck with this one.

I arrived at 6:30 and saw Drew and a young man coming down the stairs from the rental. Drew told me to park at another rental a few houses down. I had the car unloaded by the time Drew and Will walked up to the car. We introduced ourselves and I found out Will was the one who lost the cross and chain and was the boyfriend of Drew’s daughter. I asked Will to tell me the story of what happened. He said he had taken the chain off with the cross and put them in a bag so he could play in the ocean. When he was finished playing he remembered putting the cross and chain back around his neck and walked back to the house for a few minutes. At some point before returning to the beach he realized the chain and cross were gone. A quick search along his path yielded nothing. I started my search at the beach access and worked out to the beach. Luckily, Drew had the foresight to leave their tent up on the beach. I had Will lead the way from the beach stairs to where the tent was, while I followed swinging the detector. Once we got to the tent, I started a grid search from one side working forward. Within a few steps, I see a small little glimmer of gold sticking out of the sand. I ran the coil over the area and got a VDI (visual display indicator) of 1 on the Equinox 800. I reached down and pulled the chain out of the sand and handed it to Will. He was excited but his Great Grandfather’s cross wasn’t on the chain. I knew the cross couldn’t be far away. I swung the coil within 6 inches of the chain and at the same time I got a VDI of 5 I saw an edge of the cross sticking out of the sand. As I handed Will his Great Grandfather’s cross, that had been handed down to Will’s Grandfather, who handed it down to Will, he was so excited and relieved that his family heirloom had been found and returned. I did a quick test on the outstretched chain in the sand and got no indication at all; I then overlapped the ends of the chain over itself and got a VDI of 1 again. This explains why thin gold chains are so hard to detect.

Lost rings in Rodney, Ont found

While gardening in her back yard, two very sentimental family rings came off her finger. After extensive searching, she had thought they’d be lost forever. Finding me on the ring finders turned out to be very successful! It was an hour search until the first ring was found in a pile of pulled weeds. knowing the other ring would be very close, I spent the time spreading all the piles of weeds out for a better search. It just so happened that she was pulling weeds out right beside me, and thats where she had spotted the second ring! Not knowing I had found the first ring, I asked her if the “other” ring looked like this one! Another extremely happy person for the book of smiles!

I received a call from Tony’s wife Blyss about his lost wedding band in North Wildwood, NJ. He placed the ring on his knee before applying sunscreen and forgot it was there. It fell off his knee and disappeared in the sand as soon as he stood up. I met the couple on the beach and the ring was found in less than 30 seconds.

Friday night was a busy night for me as I had three searches scheduled starting approximately 9:00 PM one was in White Rock but just before I got there they found the ring and canceled. The second was at Jericho Beach,  it was for a young man who lost his grandfather signet ring that was gifted to him. He believed he lost it in the area where they were sitting as he took it off and put it into a bag and later could not find the ring. I spent close to three hours searching for this ring with no success, as I was getting into my car I got a text message that he found it in the bag at home. It happens more than you know where I’m going to search for something that wasn’t there but that’s OK the main thing was he found his ring.

My next search was at 2 AM at Kits Beach, this search was for a white gold wedding band that was lost when he took it off to keep it safe and put it in the shirt forgot after his swim and picked up the shirt and walked away. They gave me a good description of the area I came in and did my great search and found the ring in lesson 45 minutes. The kicker was his second year anniversary was in less than 48 hours so you can imagine how important this was to get that ring  back to him ASAP. Also note this was a John Cryer effect, two years ago I found that actors ring and still people remember the story… Amazing!

Lost Gold Ring on Softball Field Found on Belle Isle Detroit Michigan

Flashing Some Leather…..

…with 2 outs and bases loaded Shema heard the crack of the bat on the ball. As it soared past 2nd base, she full throttled it from her position in center field and took a dive. Making the catch and claiming victory, during the team celebration she noticed her ring missing. Trying to celebrate and not worry where her ring went was becoming difficult, so she and some teammates started to look around. With dusk approaching they called off the search. As with all rings and jewelry there is a story behind them. Shema received this ring from her grandmother prior to her passing away, so she was totally devastated when she had to leave the ballfield that night. A sleepless night was followed by her back out on the ballfield the next morning. She had a general idea where to look so using the quick turn on a go mode with my MXT metal detector I started to grid search. Closing in on the general area I got a good signal. Using my pin pointer detector, I moved some grass aside and the glint of gold shone thru. Shema quickly reached down and lifted her ring from the grass. Totally amazed she could hardly catch her breath. Hugs and high fives followed and although her team won the game, scoring her ring was the winning run!

Lost Koa & Turquoise Inlaid Ring at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring find began while I was hunting Ulua Lagoon for a visitor. While on the extreme North side Paul from Las Vegas Nevada approached me and asked if I could assist him in finding a Koa and Turquoise Inlaid ring. He lost it the evening before while relaxing in the shallow water. Then he said, “Oh never mind its wood & stone.” I said, “It has to have a base metal!” And Paul said, “I guess your right.” He pointed to the area in the water he was sitting with his girlfriend and I immediately started a quick grid search. There were some children in the way and when they moved I continued and immediately got a screaming 16-18 on the Nox. I looked over at Paul and said I’ll bet this is it. In one scoop as the sand drained out there shining in the scoop was Paul’s unique ring. Nice way to end my hunt. Aloha to Paul!

18K GOLD WEDDING RING LOST AT HUNTINGTON BEACH FOUND AND RETURNED

I was metal detecting one Saturday afternoon on a warm June day last month, down by the water in Huntington Beach. I was  finding a few coins here and there, when I got a loud signal and said to myself wouldn’t it be nice if it was a gold ring. Well, one scoop and there it was, a large man’s white gold ring. I was surprised and happy. I took a photo when I got to my car and sent it  to my friend Stan a fellow ring finder and said “first one of the year”. I hadn’t done a lot of detecting for over the year due to a car accident and an illness, so my day ended on A good note. I got an unexpected call on Tuesday morning on the way to play tennis, my friend Stan called me and let me know that a guy named Jeremy from Colorado was visiting California on the previous Saturday and lost his wedding ring, my friend said it sounded like the same  one I found. He gave me Jeremy’s phone number so I called him after tennis, We exchanged photos, and it turns out the ring was his. It really is  a small world. I sent his ring out that day, and he had it back on his finger by Friday. He was so happy to be reunited with his ring and I was glad to help a nice person. Just another example of how Ringfinders is a great website that brings joy to so many people.

Ring lost at Mission Bay Found

Sebastian took his ring off to apply some lotion, and forgot about it until later when it was time to leave. He had been paddle boarding that afternoon too, so, it could have been in the water or dry sand….he just couldn’t remember for sure if he put it back on at one point or not. He and his parents Ed and Karen sifted and raked through the dry sand for hours, all the way down to the water’s edge and couldn’t find it. In talking with some other folks there at the beach, a suggestion was made to find someone with a metal detector to help locate the ring. An online search brought them to TheRingFinders.com site where they got my contact info. I received the call at about 8pm and made arrangements to meet Ed and Karen at 8:30pm. We found each other easily at the parking lot and made our way over to where they had been camped that day. When they told me it was a silver ring, that put a smile on my face as those are a lot easier to find on a trashy beach than a gold one. This wasn’t just any dime store silver ring though! It was custom made by Sebastian’s grandfather who has since passed away. Sebastian was devastated losing it, so this just had to be found. Ok, man’s silver ring…..that should be a nice high conductor sound…..like a quarter (30 reading on my Equinox). On the first pass, that’s what my first target was, a 30, Alright, found it right away….not! Just a quarter like my machine told me. Drat, or words to that effect when his ring wasn’t in the scoop! I continued all the way to the water,  made a return pass to the top of the slope, and started down the next pass only hearing low conductors, when I got a 19 on the display. Hmm, not likely it’s the ring, most likely a crusty zinc cent, but, it was high enough to scoop anyway. Well, no one was more surprised  than I was finding his beautiful silver ring in the basket. Ed and Karen were over the moon with appreciation for getting this family heirloom back. Karen put the ring on her finger, took a photo, and texted it to Sebastian. All he texted back was OMG over and over again. Just as we were all done and ready to leave, the fireworks started across the bay at SeaWorld. An appropriate celebration on a successful recovery! A pleasure to meet you, and thank you for the reward.
