Josh and Annie went to the Longport Dog Beach to spend some time outside with their dog. Josh took his wedding band off and put it in the beach bag so it wouldn’t get lost. Annie turned the bag over to shake out the sand before they left, not knowing the ring was inside. They made it all way home to Philadelphia before realizing the ring was lost. Josh emailed me to ask for help and I called him back to get more details. He sent me pictures of where they sat that day and I was able to go look for it. After I found it, I called the couple, who were just recently married in April, and made plans to return it. I met up with the newlyweds and the ring was back where it belongs!

Ring Found at Pensacola Beach

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

A local surf shop in Pensacola, Waterboyz, celebrated its 30 year anniversary since opening its doors. They celebrated by having a special ring make for the founders. Since the founders surfed, one of them lost his ring in the water at a break west of the Pensacola Pier. The ring was solid silver and my detector literally screamed when I passed the coil over it. The ring was found and returned to its happy owner who was amazed it was recovered from the surf. I was more than satisfied to have been of service, and had a long shot recovery success.

Chelsea lost her engagement ring, wedding band and gold ring in the sand while in Margate, NJ. Before putting sunscreen on her child, she placed the rings on top of her cell phone. She forgot to put them back on and didn’t realize she didn’t have them until she got home. The wedding set was extra special because it was custom-made for her by her father’s friend who was a jeweler.

Her friend Katie reached out to me to help search and I was given the approximate location where the family sat. I had to circle out farther with the metal detector and eventually hit the targets. We were able to FaceTime with Chelsea to surprise her. She was elated they were found!

Man’s Celtic wedding band lost in Snake Pond, Sandwich, MA

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

July 20, 2023

Leighton Harrington received the call, took the information of the loss and called for me to set up a team hunt on Friday evening. He had text information and I was to go right and he left. The first hour went by rapidly with no sign of the band. More texting and back in the water we went. This time concentrating on and more specific section of the swim area.

Again, no good results. It was time to call the hunt off, but first one more look at the text. A new text has been received. This one put Brandon to the left of the lifeguard chair, the chair was not to the left of Brandon as we had been working on.

I was confident we had search the water area and went in ankle deep and headed toward the dry sand. One signal in about two inches of water sounded very iffy. What was there to loose, whatever it was to be it would not be in the lake any longer. Low and behold it was the Celtic Wedding Band.

A call was made and a Saturday evening meeting was set for the return. A very grateful Sharon pulled into the beach parking lot with her son who had been playing ball with his dad when the ring was lost.

Brandon was unable to make the ring return, but passed his thanks on via Sharon and their son. It all made for an understanding of why we will go to all lengths to bring a happy ending with smiles to a very stressful situation.

Andrew had been visiting Laguna Beach from San Francisco. He was helping his good friend plating seedlings and maintaining a large garden. Before return to the house Andrew realized that sometime during the gardening he lost his gold ring.

They spent several hours going over the area where they had been working. They even dug up the seedling plants to inspect the hole for the lost ring.. in an attempt to research if a metal detector could help locate the ring, Andrew found TheRingFinders website. He found my contact information, calling me to ask how the service works.

I drove to the Laguna Beach home that same day. We proceeded to get set up in the large garden on a hillside of the property. Grid searching the area was a bit time consuming because there were several metal targets that had to be investigated. I always search in all metal mode when doing ring recoveries. It’s common that people aren’t sure if the ring was gold or silver, they often say silver colored . There is quite a difference between the signals that gold and silver show on the newest models of metal detectors .. After doing a double/ triple grid, the ring showed up next to a large plant that had interfered with my ability to swing the detector coil on my first pass.

I could feel that Andrew and his friend were beginning to lose hope as I was nearing the end of places to search. Then, Boom !! I spotted the ring after getting the perfect gold ring signal. I didn’t say anything, just asked them to come over to look at something at the base of the plant.

Another great experience to witness the happiness and gratitude from Andrew and his friend who thought this was impossible to find such a small item in a huge garden. Also, Andrew now knows his ring is 14 k white gold marked inside band.

LOST WEDDING RING OFF DOCK IN MOORESVILLE, NC…… FOUND!!!!

  • from Fayetteville (North Carolina, United States)

Got a call from a buddy of the guy that lost his wedding ring off the end of dock at an air-b-n-b about a week ago now. He was driving back from NC to MD and wasn’t able to meet up with me. I advised him that I can find it without him and will mail it out to him the first chance I got.

I drove 2.5 hours to the site, 15 minutes to set up and 5 minutes to recover it. It was my 2nd target while under water. Then drove 2.5 hours back. It was well worth it and always glad to help folks out when they have lost something.

After a short discussion about how the loss occurred and what type ring I was looking for, I began a grid search with my metal detector. The ring showed up soon after I began the search. Everyone at the party was elated and surprised that Don’s ring was found where so many of them had spent hours trying to find it. Don was happy to have his ring that he has worn for many years.

Kyle was tossing a football in the ocean when his wedding band got knocked off his finger. It flew in the water when the ball hit his hand. He and his family were on the beach in North Wildwood, NJ when Jackie called me with the details. I met up with them and searched the area, but the ring didn’t come up. The tide had gone out a bit since he lost it, so some beachgoers had moved closer to the water. The only spot left to check was an area where two people were sitting. They kindly moved their chairs and, lo and behold, the ring was buried in the sand below! It was an exciting end to the search in North Wildwood, NJ.

Lost Gold with Amethyst Stone Ring at Hunakai Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Christina who lives in Honolulu.  She said she woke up this morning and realized her ring was no longer on her finger and she never takes it off.  The only thing she could think of was when she was at Hunakai Beach the day before she’s certain the ring must of come off in shallow water.  I agreed to meet her boyfriend Hubert at the beach access and he could show me where to hunt.  When I arrived Hubert pulled up a moment later and took me to an area under four palm trees where he and Christina were at the beach.  He helped me grid the area and I began the hunt.  This beach is trashy so every shallow target in the Nox’s gold range I dug.  After completing the grid I didn’t find the ring.  Hubert had to leave to pick someone up so I told him I would remain and expand the grid.  I stood on the shoreline and watched the flow.  I was sure the ring could be more to the right so I expanded that direction.  No luck!  I decided with little hope to extend the grid out to the left and while in waist deep water I got a nice 7-8 on the Nox.  After two scoops there was Christina’s pretty amethyst gold ring in the scoop.  You never know what the beach and waves can do.  I texted her a pic to confirm the find and about an hour later it was back on her finger.  Aloha to Christina & Hubert!

Lost White Gold Wedding Ring Lost in Ocean at Laguna Beach Saved and Returned

Ben called asking about how this metal detecting service works, an often asked question. He had been swimming the day before and believed his ring might be in the ocean. He didn’t actually feel it come off. Also, he didn’t realize his white gold wedding band was not on his finger until later that evening.

I explained that if he was swimming at a higher tide, we might have a chance to find it at the next low tide. It’s nothing I can guarantee as the sand conditions vary from one beach to another and time of the year. Also he didn’t feel it come off. The only thing I know from experience, is rings are commonly lost when fingers shrink in the colder ocean waters.

The only thing I can guarantee is, when I finish gridding an area I can say it’s not there. I was there at the location Ben showed me, but it was not low tide. I told him I may have to return at the next low tide. As long as I was there I could search out as far as the surf conditions would allow me. The most important factor was I had a 50’ to 75’ wide area that he was sure he had been.

I suggested that Ben go enjoy his day with his family. This was going to be a preliminary search and I would return later at low tide. Just before leaving the beach I got a nice signal. BOOM!! White gold wedding band just 20 ft. outside my search area. Ben’s ring showed an hour after we talked. He was amazed and very grateful to have his ring back where it belongs,
