Lost Engagement Ring and Wedding Band Found Margate NJ by John Favano

I received a call from Amanda’s brother-in-law about 2 rings she lost in the sand at the beach in Margate NJ.   Amanda told me that she put the rings in the side pocket of her beach chair and forgot the rings were there when she moved her chair farther back when the tide came in.  A few minutes after taking a walk she remembered her rings were in the chair, so she quickly went back to get them and discovered that they were not there.  She and other beachgoers tried to find her engagement ring and the her wedding band, which was originally her mother’s, without success.  We met up in the early morning at the location she had been in the day before, and I thoroughly searched a grid pattern from the water’s edge up to the rear of the beach. Approximately an hour and half after searching, both rings were found!  Amanda and Willie were able to finish their Memorial Day weekend on a happy and joyous note!

Man’s Gold Wedding Band Lost in the Ocean at Ocean Isle Beach NC, Found and Returned

This adventure started when I got a phone call from Alicia at 11:15 am, asking if I could help find her husband, Sam’s, wedding band. She told me that one of her girlfriend’s father had recommended The Ring Finders, sure am glad he did. I started getting the details and it sounded like a good challenge. She said that she and Sam got married yesterday and after a full day of fun, it was time to relax. Not sure how many were involved, but Alicia said a whole lot of people (wedding party and family members) decided to take a midnight (literally) swim in the ocean. I asked her how deep they were and she said “torso” deep, so anywhere from shoulders to naval, which if they’re short, it’s not too bad. Taking a quick look at the tide tables, they were swimming about an hour to an hour and a half before high tide, big help! Low tide for today was around 8:30 pm so I told her I’d be there close to 5 pm. I had nothing going on, so I took a ride up to do a recon on what I was up against. When I got there, Alicia came out and confirmed the area, and roughly, how far out they had been. I was thinking I’d be back at about mid tide and work the outgoing tide and should have a pretty good shot at finding the ring.

I got back there right around 5:30 pm, and got to meet some of the family around the pool, a great bunch of people! Made my way out to the beach, and decided to do a perpendicular grid search (shore line to water). I got about half way through my third grid line and got a banging signal on my Equinox 800 that was registering 22-24 on the VDI. I was about thigh deep and dug a scoop of sand, checked the hole and it was clear. Washed the sand out of the scoop in the surf, checked the scoop and nothing. Hmmm, maybe I had a small target that fell through the holes in the scoop. Checked the hole again then around the hole and got the signal again. Took another scoop of sand, checked the hole and the area around the hole and I had the target (again) in the scoop. I walked up to the wet sand and dumped the scoop, checked the pile of sand and found the target. Spread the sand out with my foot and saw the outline of a ring in the sand. Washed it off, confirmed the inscription that Alicia said was in it and knew I had it. I took a picture and text Alicia saying “Bingo!” She immediately text me back and said she was on her way back to the house. Total search time was between 20-30 minutes. Made it back to the pool that the family was still gathered around, had a cold beer with them and waited for Alicia. She was so excited, she just knew the ring was gone forever.

Most of the rental houses on the beach are named, this house was no different. Ironically the name on this house was “The Memory Maker,” I’m sure that Alicia and Sam will remember this adventure for a very long time.

Alicia, thank you so much for trusting me to find your lost treasure. Hope and pray for only the best for you and Sam, take care of each other.

Most people will rent or buy a metal detector to find their lost ring. The only thing is if you’ve never used one you will have a slim chance in finding your ring. The members and myself from TheRingFinders.com have many years of experience and the know how…This search today didn’t need the use of the detector…How many people who would have rented a detector would have found this ring? One thing we all do is think out of the box. Lynn was shaking a towel over her balcony when her 2 rings flew off her finger…

She found one ring in the small rocks very quickly. No need for a metal detector for that ring…But where did the second ring go? Maybe into the garden/rhododendron bushes but it would have been an easy eye ball search. I asked Lynn if there was a chance the ring could have slipped off finger in the house? She question herself and went inside to look. I stood there and thought… one ring fell on the rocks and why not the second ring?

Just then I notice a dip alongside of the foundation of the house, the rocks  sunk into the ground in a very small area so I took a knee and had a look and BINGO there was the ring! I was so happy!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I was able to surprise Lynn, I have the greatest job in the world! I get to make people smile!

Lost Ring in the Gulf, Orange Beach, AL – FOUND!!!

On the same day that I returned Don’s ring I was lucky enough to get a call shortly after from my new friends Eddie and Meryl from Kentucky. They were vacationing in Orange Beach and Eddie was playing in the waves when his gold wedding ring was knocked from his hand. It had been about 24 hrs when they found my info but I assured them that we could still find it. They met me on the beach and Eddie thought he had a good idea where he lost it. Unfortunately, it was about chest deep on me and I’m 6’3” and to make matters worse, there was a significant swell that would float us off our line as we walked out to where Eddie thought it was. On our way into the surf we had about 5 young boys come over and excitedly ask about 35 questions in 30 seconds. We assured them that if we found some treasure we would show them when we got back in. I started swinging my detector as we got closer to the area and got a signal. Eddie said we weren’t quite there yet but I told him we should dig it since sometimes it’s hard to know exactly where you are in the surf. Eddie wasn’t surprised when I pulled up a piece of a can and told me to follow him. Well when we got to where he thought it was, I immediately heard a good gold tone. I think Eddie must have had a gps in his pocket when the ring came off because that was the most impressive recall of where a ring was lost in the Gulf of Mexico I have ever seen. 😃. It took a few tries in the waves but eventually I saw gold in the scoop and knew we had it. I headed to the beach with the scoop over my head so as not to lose it in the surf. When we got to the beach Eddie immediately pulled it out and placed it on his hand. One of the little boys from before asked Eddie what he had found.  When Eddie said that it was his wedding ring the little boy wrinkled up his face and said “Eww!”  😆. Luckily Eddie and his wife were much happier about it than the little boy. I’m very glad you got your ring back Eddie!  😃

Wedding Ring Lost in the Sand at Hermosa Beach, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

Jonny’s friend called me today to see if I was available to come and look for Jonny’s lost wedding ring. They had been at the beach playing catch with a Frisby when as he was going for a catch he felt his ring come off of his hand, watched it fly past his face, he even heard it hit the sand, and it was gone in an instant. He and his friends searched all over the sand with no luck. They found me on the Internet, and called. I asked a few questions, and from everything they told me, it sounded like we would have a successful recovery today. I let them know I would be there as soon as possible, and was on my way.

When I got to the beach, I walked out looking for Jonny. As I got to the slope down to the water I noticed a guy looking around in the sand, and figured he was the gentleman I was looking for. Jonny looked up and came right over. He then explained what had happened, and showed me the Frisby they placed in the area they believed the ring to be. I began my search to the South of the Frisby working North in the direction Jonny had been moving when the ring was lost. I searched out to about 30 feet with no ring. Then went back to the starting position, and began to work to the South of the Frisby. After about 2 passes I got a good strong signal, and there I could see just a slight gimmer shinning through the sand. I reached down, and to Jonny’s disbelief Held up his wedding ring. He had not been married a year yet, so this loss was very sentimental, as he had not had the ring very long. Needless to say he was very happy, and I was happy to have had the pleasure to make his day!

I asked him what the probability of him finding the ring was, he simply said, “if it is in this area, and you didn’t move from this area, I will 100 percent find it.” About 10 minutes into the search, Steve found my wedding ring, he bent down and picked up and I thought, no way, no way, I cannot believe he found my ring. I asked him what I owed him, he said, “if you want to give me a reward, you can.” I gave him a big hug, shook his hand, thanked him a hundred times, and give him all the money I had in my wallet, $37.” I just want to personally thank Steve at Ring Finders, and let people out there know, that Steve is the real-deal, and if you lost a wedding ring, or any other prized possession, Steve will find it. Thanks again Steve, I am so grateful that you found my wedding ring, God Bless ya!

Jessica called me from Huntington Beach after she lost her husband’s platinum wedding ring in the sand. Her husband, John had given Jessica his wedding band to hold while he was going for a swim in the ocean. 

They agreed to wait for me on the beach which was going to help make it a successful search. When I arrived Jessica said, I’m the person who lost the ring. I reassured her that this seems to happen often lately.

She didn’t know exactly when or where the ring slipped off her finger, but she did know that she hadn’t left the 25’x 25’ area. Perfect, I began a grid search. There were not very many trash metal signals to bother with so it was not long until the ring was in my sand scoop.

It was a happy moment for both of them. After hours of trying to find the ring. Success came when Jennifer decided to ask for help by calling a member of TheRingFinders metal detector service.

Lost Ring, Pensacola Beach – FOUND!

I got a call from a gentleman named Don that said he had received my card from the front desk of Margaritaville on Pensacola Beach. I was excited to hear that they gave him a card because I had dropped some off several months ago and it was great to hear that they were saving them in case someone needed me. Well Don definitely needed me!  He had dropped his wedding ring somewhere out in front of the Hotel while staying here in Pensacola Beach. To make matters worse it was his solid Platinum band given to him by his wife to commemorate their 20 year anniversary and he didn’t know whether he lost it in the water or in the sand. Luckily for him, I have detectors that work equally well in both spots. I’d love to tell you amazing stories about finding it but the fact is that once I walked Don through where he was and what he was doing, it was a no brainer to start in an area on the sand. Sure enough, in about 5 minutes I told him that I had a tone that didn’t sound right but it was safer to dig them all. When I pulled it up, he was expecting to see trash when he looked in the scoop. I love watching someone’s face when the realization hits them that their precious ring has actually been found. Don high-fived me and immediately called his wife with the good news. He thanked me about 100 times and I can honestly say that I was thrilled to be able to help.  👍

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Bellows Air Force Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began last Monday when I got a text from Tyler who is a US Navy Commander living in Aiea on Oahu and is stationed at SUBPAC. While enjoying the day with his lovely wife Kristin and daughter Violet, Tyler held Violet’s hand as they walked along the beach. As the waves were coming up the sand slope pretty far, he didn’t want them to knock Violet down. At some point Violet adjusted her hand and accidentally pulled Tyler’s Gold Wedding Band off and it fell into the sand. As Tyler reached down to pick up the ring a wave washed in and erased the ring from his view. It was gone! Tyler immediately took note of his location and marked it with a stick. When I called him back he sent me photos of the location and asked when I would be able to look. I had other ring hunts lined up so I told him possibly Friday. The beach is off limits to metal detecting but my company All Island Treasure Detectors helped the Air Force clear the recreation area of unexploded ordnance (UXO) several years back and I’ve been given the opportunity to hunt for lost wedding rings on a few occasions without any drama. Thursday night we arranged to meet the next morning at Bellows Beach around 9AM. Tyler and his family arrived and we parked within a few yards from where Tyler lost the ring. Tyler gridded out the area he felt the ring was lost in. It wasn’t very large but the surf was up and pounding the shoreline. I started dry and worked through the wet sand and finally into the water. It got to the point I couldn’t swing my detector anymore because of the waves. To that point I only found a Lincoln Shield Cent and a ring from a pull tab. I told Tyler I did what I could but wanted to extend out the grid search just in case. I could tell Tyler & Kristin were looking as if this wasn’t going to end happily. Then on the second extended leg of the grid search the Excalibur got a screaming low tone. This had to be the ring and sure enough after a quick rinse there in the scoop was Tyler’s Gold Wedding Band. He and Kristin were on the other side of the grid so I yelled over to them, “I got it!” They both ran over and sure enough it was Tyler’s ring. With great elation and relief Tyler & Kristin were both so very thankful. Tyler told me this was actually the second time his ring was found. I’m praying their won’t be a third time. Lost Tungsten Wedding Ring, Gariepy Neighborhood, West Edmonton Alberta. Found

I received a text from Joe on Monday May 20, requesting my service to locate his lost wedding ring at a tot’s park in the Gariepy neighborhood. As I was out of town we agreed to search on Thursday.
Joe showed me where the ring came off and he told me he had his family out with him searching for a couple of hours using a rake but unfortunately they could not locate the ring.
Within ten minutes I located his ring buried in three inches of sand. Joe was very happy to have his ring back on his finger as the ring had a very sentimental value to him.

Lost 10k Gold Wedding Band, Westmount Neighborhood Edmonton, Alberta – Found

I received an email from Robert requesting my services to locate a family heirloom which had been given to him by his late grandfather. Robert told me he was gardening with his wife and he had his hands in his raised garden beds also in his flower beds. After he was done he gathered all the dead foliage into plastic bags and then he realized the ring was missing of his finger.
I told Robert I was out of town until Wednesday so I assured him that since the ring was lost on his property it was in a safe place and to not throw any of the garbage bags out until I checked them.
Once at Robert’s house he showed me where the ring could possibly be, and he checked the area for a couple of hours with no luck.
The soil in the five raised beds was eight inches deep and Robert told me that he was digging with his bare hands to the bottom of the beds. I used my propinter to check his beds and had no luck. I also checked the flower beds with no luck so then I checked his four garbage bags. The third bag contained his ring! Robert was very grateful to have his grandfather’s ring back on his finger.
