Lost engagement ring in the river

  • from Mount Pleasant (Michigan, United States)

I found this young ladies platinum engagement ring in the Chippewa river today. She lost it while kayaking and was sitting on the bank with her hands in the sand. She also said she was out of the kayak to get around some rapids. Rather than go to that spot, I figured it was more likely that she lost it while she was sitting on the bank. Sure enough she took me to that spot, which was behind a church. We just waded across the river and about 15 to 20 seconds later, I had her ring in my scoop. She was very happy to have the ring back. I told her that it is hardly ever that easy.

Huge gold chain lost and found in Apsley Ontario

Received a text from Lou yesterday about him having lost his gold chain while swimming. Lou, and his young family, had rented a cottage near Apsley on Chandos lake. While playing with the kids, he did a few dives off the dock only to realize later that his huge gold chain was no longer around his neck. After arriving early this morning and getting situated, I got in the water and went to work with my Excalibur II under water metal detector. After eliminating a few trash signals, I heard the sweet tone of gold and found his chain within ten minutes. Although the chain is very valuable due to the size and weight, it is priceless as it was given to him by his grandmother. Another happy ending.

Received a call from Amber. Amber explained that her husband lost his wedding ring while playing in the surf and getting “rolled” by a wave. Amber said she had someone else out to look for it and he could not locate the ring. After gathering details and checking tide and surf data I decided that Tuesday afternoons low tide would be a good time to try for the ring. Shortly after arriving at the beach I began a “meticulous” search grid from the wet sand down into the surf. About 45 minutes later I had the ring in my scoop. The waves were pretty rough and I myself got “washed” a few times but still managed a successful recovery. Another happy couple!
See Ambers review below:
“Sunday afternoon my husband was boogie boarding with our son in Cape May. My husband has recently lost some weight and therefore his ring was a little loose. A wave knocked my husband off balance, and a secondary wave wiped him out, losing his ring in the tide.
I called one service and they were unable to locate the ring right after it happened.
I was in contact with Jeff as well, who was busy the day of, but said he would search in days to come.
Tuesday afternoon came, and he had found it!
I will forever be grateful! he took an hour out of his day and was able to find it right where my husband knew it came off, the other guys must have passed right over it! I highly recommend to call Jeff if you lose anything!

Last evening I received a text message from Meg around 10:30pm. Meg explained that she is staying at Angel Of The Sea B&B here in Cape May. She was sitting on the 3rd floor balcony, taking in the evening with her husband when her wedding ring slipped off her finger and rolled off the porch falling into the flower beds / shrubbery below. Meg said that she had been searching with her husband for a while and would really appreciate some assistance. I took the short ride over from home and met up with the couple. After searching for about 20 minutes I was able to recover her ring at the base of some bushes beneath the porch. Meg and her husband were very relieved to have the ring back! Another happy couple!

Lost Gold & Diamond Ring & Cellphone, Found! Ocean City, New Jersey By Ringfinder Jeffrey Laag

  • from Cape May (New Jersey, United States)
Received a call from Andrew Monday evening. Andrew explained that he and his family had quite an adventure unfold Sunday afternoon. While Andrew, his brother, and dad (Jack) were at their boat slip, Jack knocked his sons cell phone into the water. Jack jumped in and dove down to retrieve the phone and when he came back up he struck his head on the prop of his boat, this required a trip to the ER to have the wound stapled closed. During the ordeal Jack also lost his wedding ring of over 35 years! Made plans to meet up with Andrew at low tide yesterday. After moving a floating dock over, to work off of, I managed to recover both the phone and ring. Jack was elated to have his ring back! and sons phone too (which was still on and working) lol……. Another happy family!
See Jacks Testimonial Below:
“This past Sunday was a day that I would like to soon forget!
I have a small condo and boat slip at Harbor House Condos in Ocean City. While cleaning my boat I knocked my son’s phone into the bay. I did not know what else to do so I tried diving down to find his phone. little did I know that while doing this my wedding ring fell off. To make matters worse, I hit my head on the motor causing a 3 inch gash which needed 8 staples to close the wound. I can honestly say that the pain in my head was not nearly as bad as the pain I felt losing my wedding ring that I wore for 35 years. At this point after several failed attempts and a head injury, I knew this was a job for a someone that knows what they are doing which was not me. Not knowing where to turn, my son and daughter-in-law called the Ocean City Police and they recommended Jeffery Laag from Lost Ring & Jewelry Recovery Service. Jeff answered the phone and let them know very confidently, that he could find the ring and the phone. He showed up to the location the next day and within 30 minutes found both.
I cannot say enough about this service. Without Jeff I would not have my ring back! If I were to rate his service, I would without a doubt give him a 5 out of 5 stars.”

Ocean City, NJ: Another Lost Wedding Ring, Another Happy Reunion!

Losing something as precious as a wedding band can be devastating, especially when you’re enjoying a relaxing vacation. For Melanie and her husband, their dream week in Ocean City, NJ, took a turn when his lost ring disappeared into the ocean during a peaceful wade.

It was late in the evening when Melanie called, her voice tinged with worry. Her husband had been casting his line, enjoying the gentle lapping waves, when suddenly, his wedding ring slipped off his finger. The powerful ocean currents quickly claimed it, and with the tide rapidly rising, they knew any immediate attempt at recovery would be futile. It was a heartbreaking moment, the kind that can overshadow an entire trip.

We made a plan to meet at the very next low tide, hoping the calmer waters would offer a better chance. Armed with my beach metal detector, I arrived at the designated spot in Ocean City, NJ, with a sense of purpose. The moon cast a soft glow on the water as I began my search, meticulously sweeping the sand.

It’s moments like these that remind me why I do what I do. The anticipation, the focused search, and then that familiar, wonderful sound from the detector. After just 15 minutes of searching, there it was! Under the gentle moonlight, the ring gleamed, a beacon of hope in the vastness of the ocean.

Returning that lost wedding band to Melanie and her husband was an incredibly rewarding experience. Their week-long vacation in Ocean City, NJ, had been transformed from a moment of despair into a triumphant story of recovery. It was a perfect ending to their getaway, a reminder that even when all seems lost, sometimes a little persistence and the right tools can bring about a miracle.

Have you lost a ring on the beaches of Ocean City, NJ, or anywhere else in South Jersey? Don’t give up hope! Whether it’s a lost engagement ring, a family heirloom, or a cherished wedding band, a beach metal detector can often be the key to finding your lost treasure.

2 Lost Diamond & Gold Rings, FOUND! Cape May Point, NJ By Ringfinder Jeffrey Laag

  • from Cape May (New Jersey, United States)
Received a call from Daniel after he was referred to me by Cape May Police Dept. Daniel explained that his wife had dropped both of her rings in the sand two days ago while at the beach with family in Cape May Point. Daniels wife had taken the rings off to apply sunscreen and simply forgotten about them on her lap, a very common mistake, btw. A nearby good samaritan had lent Daniel a metal detector but they had no luck recovering the rings themselves. I gathered some details from Daniel in regards to location and he was also able to send me a dropped pin to get me as close to the area as possible. I arrived on the beach in CMP first thing this morning and began searching. I was able to recover both rings in about 25 minutes and return them to Daniel before he and his family left to return home. Nothing like ending that vacation on a high note! Another happy couple!

Campground Beach, MA Lost / Found / Returning of Wedding Band

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

June 25, 2025

With sunshine and high temperatures the desire to “Go to the Beach” to cool off is a prime cause for more rings to be “lost” and the need for a member of TheRingFinders.com to find the lost ring.

Jon found himself in just that situation on the 24th. As the tide was rising he and Kaden, his son, dug a hole on the sand bar. Then today Jon called for help. Within 2 hours I was ready for another search. I arrived an hour early due to the lack of beach traffic. Jon had left the beach to run an errand, leaving Kaden to show me the hole. I was glad to have a guide, otherwise I might still be looking for the correct area to search. At the hole which was the point were the loss was to have occurred. I started to drag my scoop to line a box in the sand. I had gone about 15 to 20 steps before getting a signal. One shallow scoop and I had the wayward ring. Now all I had to do was wait for Jon’s return.

When Jon showed up I went to shake his hand. He felt the ring and could not believe I had found it and he quickly put it back on were it belonged and gave me a big hug.

Lesson learned: Always leave a good, lasting impression. In this case there were two, the hole in the sand and a big hug.

Christina reached out to our group page at “TheRingFindersNewJersey.com” after she lost both her engagement and wedding bands in the surf. Christina explained that while playing with her children on a boogie board she felt her rings “slip right off” after sending her child to ride a wave. I took the short ride from Cape May up to Ocean City and met up with Christina and her husband. Her husband had already wrote the rings off as he believed they were “gone forever”, to which I replied “lets see what we can do, lol”. I gathered some details from Christina before entering the surf and managed to pull both rings from the waves in about 10 minutes! Granted they dont always go that quickly, lol. Another happy couple!

Received a message last evening from Ashley. Ashley explained that she dropped a ring in the sand while on Queen St beach today while applying sunscreen. This ring had some pretty significant sentimental value as it had been passed to her from her parents. Ashley had already returned home to Philadelphia before finding my contact information that was recommended to her in “Cape May Live”. We chatted a bit last evening and I headed out after getting off duty this morning, first thing. She was able to markup a screen shot of Queen St beach to help get me in the right general area. After about 20 minutes of searching i had Ashleys ring in the scoop. Her friend picked it up this afternoon and itll be back on Ashleys finger the weekend! Another happy ending! Thank you to the folks in Cape May Live for the recommendations!
Ashleys testimonial:
“I took off a small but sentimental ring to apply sunscreen and, as the story always goes, dropped it into the sand. I spent about an hour looking, and a small crew assembled to help sift the area, with no luck. I left the beach convinced that it was gone forever but posted to a Cape May page in case it was my lucky month. Jeff was recommended almost immediately. Around 8:30 pm we exchanged a few messages back and forth about where I was sitting, time of day, and what the ring looked like and he found it by 8:30am the next day. This man is incredible!”
