Wedding Ring recovery at Wrightsville Beach NC

This ring was recovered and returned at Wrightsville Beach NC on 8-25-24.

I received a call yesterday around 10:30am from a gentleman who was at Wrightsville Beach and had lost his ring. He explained he was tossing a ball with others when his ring suddenly fell off and he immediately tried to grab it but a wave came in and took it before he could pick it up. We spoke for awhile and he also explained that he had to catch a flight back to Arizona so he probably wouldn’t be there when I got to the beach but I could give it to his brother who could bring him the ring if I found it. He marked the area very well for me to know where to search and sent me photos of the markers. I drove to the beach and got there around 1:45pm. It was high to when I got there so I knew I would be hunting in the water since he lost it around low to mid tide. Because he marked the area so well I was able to find the area to search with ease. This was a big help. I entered the water and started my search. After about 10 minutes of searching in the water with strong waves I stepped into a trough under the water that was a little above my knees deep. Searching the trough I got a strong solid signal on my metal detector. I used my extreme sandscoop to dig the target and recover the ring. I called him to let him know I found it and sent him pictures of it. He was very happy to hear I found it. I later met with his brother at a rest area along my route home and gave him the ring so he could get it back to his brother. I was very happy to help.

Wedding band recovered in Belmar NJ

While watching tv at 8:45pm, my phone rings and it’s Welmo from Fort Lee asking if I could help locating his wedding band lost on Belmar, NJ beach. At first I thought he had already returned home and I told him i’d go in the morning but with that beach there are some locals that detect the beach after hours and it may be gone by the morning. He said he was still in Belmar so I agreed to meet him in 15 minutes. Getting to the beach I met up with him. He told me he took his ring off to put lotion on his daughter and placed the ring on her bookbag she brought along and forgot about it. He showed me that area they were sitting by means of picture he took during the day and I started a grid back and forth. Wasn’t doing any good except for trash until my 6th pass through the area and got a great signal and with 1 scoop of sand I had his ring back for him. He was so grateful to get his ring back. A great happy ending to the night.

It was a busy afternoon on a hot sunny day in Sea Isle City, NJ. I received a call about a lost gold ring in the sand. It had slipped off somewhere in the area and couldn’t be found. I arrived about thirty minutes later, moved some of the chairs, and started a search. In a few minutes I had the ring back to the owner! Now she could continue to relax and enjoy the day in Sea Isle City, NJ!

Lost Silver Rings at Honu Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring find began 12 August when I got a call from Aubri who was visiting Oahu from her home state of Texas.  While enjoying her day on the beach at Honu Lagoon before swimming she put her silver rings in the beach chair pocket.  At the end of the day and after returning the beach chair to the hotel she realized she had left the rings in the chair pocket.  Upon return to the chair area the rings were no were to be found.  She assumed the four rings must have fallen out when she folded the chair on the beach.  I went for the hunt on Saturday morning and was able to match up the photo of their location with the pic Aubri sent me.  I started the hunt working towards the grassy area Aubri described.  About 15 minutes into the hunt I got a nice high tone on the Manticore and dug a silver ring with a blue stone.  Another swing and a few inches over I found another silver ring with a little white opal.  There were four rings in total but the final two never showed themselves.  After talking to Aubri she thought maybe they were inside the resort area which would be impossible to hunt.  She was obviously grateful of the two I recovered and shes wearing them again in the pic back in Texas.  She knows I’ll certainly check again in case they are still on the beach.  Aloha to Aubri!

How to find a lost ring in the grass with a metal detector…Lake Mary, Florida!

Austin and his dear wife had a bit of an argument over a small issue and in the midst of the conversation he had a fleeting thought to throw his ring!  And that passing thought led him to slip his ring off of his finger and gently toss it into the grass…thinking that he would easily be able to find it later and everything would be AOK!  But as is the case here in Florida with the St. Augustine grass…any small item dropped into this kind of grass basically disappears quickly and proves to be very difficult to find.  Austin spent an hour or two searching on his hands and knees and eventually went out and purchased a low end metal detector and searched for three hours more.  The metal detector sounded off everywhere he walked and ended up making the situation even more frustrating.

That evening his wife typed in “How to find a ring in the grass” on Google and eventually theringfinders.com website came up and offered the exact service and help they were needing.  Austin called me early the next morning and we made arrangements to meet 3 hours later.  Austin showed me the small area where he tossed his ring and I set out 4 cones and showed him how to adjust his metal detector and encouraged him to start sweeping his detector exactly like I was doing.  I told him to start on one end of the marked out area and I began on the other end.  I had the advantage of a Garrott pin pointer to investigate any signal that sounded like a shallow white gold ring and after numerous pieces of can slaw I spotted his brand new white gold wedding ring pressed down into the dirt.  Austin was super  relieved and so very thankful to have his lost ring back and glad for the happy ending.  I thank God for allowing me to find and return Austin’s wedding ring and to be a blessing to this young couple!

Lost Silver In A House Fire near Spokane Wa…..FOUND!!

In the summer of 2023, a bad fire season kicked off. Between the two major fires that took place in August-September there was 385 homes lost. Just about a year later, I was contacted by a family who had lost their home. In the house, they had silver and gold. I worked approximately 24 hours sifting and metal detecting the burned ashes of the home. 158 silver coins where located, 5 coast guard metals and one set of dog tags. Also, I pulled out a few hundred keys and a few hundred coins along with 2 watches and other jewelry. The house was completely burned to the ground, I am truly happy that I got to recover at least a few valuables. Lost White Gold Ring Found Inside House in Highland Township Michigan

Window Pain…..

…..What started as a complete house search for Amy’s lost ring led to searching the car and with still no luck, we took a short break to consider other possibilities. Racking our brains started to give us both headaches. Gazing out the window into the back yard helped clear the fog. She mentioned that occasionally she takes her ring off and sets it on the windowsill. The crank for it was off and I asked if the window ever gets opened. She said yes and went to get the crank. Leaning over the sink I heard the creaks as I cranked the window open. Poking my head thru the pane eased my pain when I saw Amy’s ring stuck in the weatherstripping! Who would have thought that sticking my head thru a windowpane would get rid of this pain in the glass search! Amy was shattered with excitement and cracked a huge smile, amazed that the ring was there! I asked, how does it feel not to be framed anymore? She replied, you crack me up and finding my ring is clearly top of the glass.

Yonatan contacted me because he had lost his ring at the beach earlier in the day, and had exhausted all possibilities of finding it. It was about 9:00 PM, but told him that because the beach is detected frequently, and cleaned by machines in the morning, that I would go that night if he would wait for me. He agreed, and I was on my way.

When I got there Yonatan was with a group of friends, and they came over as I was walking out to them. They were excited at the possibility of him getting his ring back, as was I. He told me he was playing volley ball when the ring came off, and he knew when and where it happened. In fact they had even marked the spot with a sandal. He told me it was silver, and began to describe it, when I said, that it will probably be the only ring I find that night. Well I turn the detector on, swing a couple of times, and get a solid silver tone in the head phones. I dig, and in the scoop is a silver ring. I hold it out for Yonatan, who comes over. He takes it, holds it in his hand, and says to my surprise, this ring is not mine. Who would have known? So I continued the search working pass after pass until I was a good distance outside of the designated search area when I got another solid silver tone, dug, and had another silver ring in the scoop. This time it was his, and the excitement among his friends was electric. It was about 11:00 PM. He then told me he was on vacation from Israel, and was going back the next week. We got to talk a little about his country, because my wife and I had visited back in 2019, and had a wonderful time. So great to see so many smiles in one place!

When Jared called they had already left the beach. It seems that he had his ring in the beach chair, and when they were leaving, the chair was picked up, and ring vanished. I asked if he would be able to meet me there, and at that time he was not available, so I told him I would go and do the search for him if given the information on the area. He agreed, and sent me very detailed and concise directions as to where the loss occurred.

I got to the beach a little later in the evening hoping that the crowds would have thinned out. I began my search starting at the furthest possible limit, and worked my way towards the other limit. I did have to weave in and out of beach goers who had their blankets out. I continued to search, not finding much because this is a very clean beach thanks to the very good county beach machines. As I made pass after pass without finding much, I came to a spot where some people had a blanket on the beach, and folded it over to protect their belongings while they went into the water. That gave me a couple of feet more to search, and low and behold, I struck gold in that spot. I called Jared telling him, and sent a picture of the ring I found. He told me that was it, and he was now free to come down and pick it up. Just another great day providing reasons for people to smile.

Lost Gold Wedding Ring Found in Saratoga, NY Ball Park!

John called me at 8:30 am and told me he lost his wedding ring in a ball field. He had taken it off and put it in his zipped pocket with his watch because it was bothering him when he held the bat. He had taken out his watch a couple times to check the time and the second time he realized his ring was gone. He was devastated.  He said he could meet me at 12:30 so there I was waiting for him when he arrived. We hunted for over two hours in extreme heat the area he said he lost it in with no luck. I asked him how long he would like to keep searching for and he said until 3:30, another half hour.  I told him it was time to expand our search area. I could see the sad and almost hopeless look on his face.  I told him not to give up hope, that the ring was not going anywhere and I would even come back another day even though he had to return to Philadelphia. At 3:25 I got the signal I was waiting for. I said to myself, “this HAS to be it.” I dropped to my knees and combed the grass with my fingers and there it was the gold glinting in the sunlight. I didn’t touch it and called out to John, “John, come here!” He ran over not sure why I had called him. I said,”look!”  He couldn’t believe his eyes and picked it out of the grass almost sure he would never see it again. We were two very happy, hot and tired guys jumping for joy! A great moment to cherish.
