……… Melonie called asking me if I could help her find a silver ring that came off her finger while playing volleyball at Venice Beach, CA. .. It was late in the evening but I told her it would be an hour and a half before I could get to her location. She could not wait till I arrived and said that she would consider it lost for good.

The next morning Dave called asking about my services. He said his friend had lost a ring at the volleyball courts at Venice Beach. We determined that it was Melonie’s silver ring. He sent me a google earth screen shot of the location which he marked with the exact volleyball court where the loss occurred.

I drove the Venice Beach and after a couple hours I had not located the ring. I did find an iPhone X with a depleted battery.  Gave Dave a call to tell him that the ring didn’t show as started to drive home. Two blocks away I pulled over to take a second look at the screenshot he had sent me. It looked like I had been searching the wrong volleyball court. 

Turned my car around and went to the correct vollyball court. I still had trouble finding the missing silver ring. Expanding the search more than 30 feet behind the serving line. The allusive silver ring appeared in my scoop. Sent Dave a photo of the ring and waited on the beach till he met me to pick up the ring.. A few days later he sent me a picture of him giving it back to Melonie with a thank you note.

…… The CIty of Dana Point, CA. has concerts in the summer at a local park. Brett and his family were sitting on the lawn enjoying the concert when they had the opportunity to move closer to the staging area. As the concert was nearing the end he noticed his platinum wedding band was not on his finger. The last place he remembered seeing it was at their previous spot on the lawn where he had put sunscreen on.

It was not dark so he was able to get back to the general area to search on his hands and knees for the  his ring. Despite his determination he was unable to ring his ring. The next morning while attempting to rent a metal detector, Brett found my contact information online. He called me and we met an hour later. 

As we walked to the location, he was sure that the ring was lost in that area. Our problem was getting close to the original area. All grass looks the same and there were only a few trees and a portable restroom that could be used as landmarks. On some searches people recognize a piece of trash or a an hole in the sand, etc.

He looked a little confused about the location. As long as it was not any larger than a basketball court, we could make quick work of this. It still took about 45 minutes into the grid search. I got a good signal. I could see that Brett was starting to lose confidence that his ring could be found. I gave him the hand held pinpointer and asked him to check the signal in the grass.  He could hear the pinpointer sound off so I told him to check the grass with his fingers, BINGO !! He had his platinum ring that he has worn for over 17 years. It was a mother special day to be able to help Brett find his ring.

Unique Gold Engagement Ring Found and Returned to Grateful Owner.. Malibu, CA.

 I recovered a one of a kind engagement ring that was designed by Diana’s husband’. The search was a little different with a few unknowns. She wrote the story of what had happened and how we found it.

THIS IS DIANA’S STORY …

I called Stan out of confusion and desperation: I thought I had left my engagement ring at home during a trip to the beach, but could not find it anywhere. I had a strange memory of holding it before I left, but could not remember where I put it down. Since it was nowhere to be found in my apartment, my next best guess was that I had absently-mindedly pocketed it and taken it to the beach with me. Perhaps it had fallen out of my shorts and onto the sand while I was sunbathing ? It was sort of a long shot, but I had to try. I contacted Stan through RingFinders.

Stan met me at the small beach in Malibu. He methodically combed through the sand for nearly two hours, but the ring didn’t show. We walked back to our parking spot and got into our cars, about to leave, when I received a picture from my friend. The photo showed the exact location where we had been laying out. I texted Stan and he kindly agreed to return to the beach with me and give it another go. Within 5 minutes, HE FOUND IT! I truly couldn’t believe it – – it was a miracle.

Suffice to say, if you have any suspicion that your jewelry may have fallen off into sand, or dirt, or bushes or any hard-to-comb area, call Stan. We could have easily given up – – especially when we weren’t 100% sure the ring even came to the beach with me in the first place – – but Stan stuck it out and found it. I absolutely could never have done it with out him. Now every time I look at my ring, I’m even more grateful, knowing how close it came to being lost forever. Thanks to Stan, it wasn’t.

She neglected to say, when we returned for our second search, the beach had filled up with more sunbathers, I was not sure I could search thoroughly. Fortunately the ring was found in an open space or I would have waited for the beach goers to leave.

***A diamond engagement ring was pulled off Susanna’s finger when she was hit by a large wave in waist deep surf. The same wave also washed high up the sloping beach to pull her beach bag with car keys and a cellphone into the surf.

Susanna called me after locating my information on line. We discussed the time of day of the loss so I could determine the height of the tide when the ring came off her finger. Very important was the fact that she immediately knew when and where the ring left her finger.

All Southern California beaches are different and the sand conditions change daily. Sometimes I can tell that our odds are better to find a ring that has been lost in surf when they tell me what beach. Most times you can’t tell if it’s going to a difficult search until you get to the site. I try to tell these facts to people that need my help before going on a call out.

Susanna met me the next afternoon at low tide. She was confident as to the area of the beach where she had been. I was prepared to search chest deep water if I had to. The sand and slope conditions looked perfect for a successful search and it was only one day since the loss.

Started the grid in knee deep water finding a few coins then a silver colored ring with a diamond stone. It was not her ring but conditions made me feel that Susanna’s ring could still be holding in this type surf/sand conditions. After a half hour working parallel to the beach I was able to find Susanna’s white gold diamond engagement ring that had three sparkling diamonds. It was at the very end of the area she laid out for me to search. The keys and cellphone were not found they were not the object of this search.

I went up onto the beach where Susanna was with her fiancé, Alex. When I held up the ring both of them started yelling with excitement and joy. Alex actually gave me a big hug trying to lift me off my feet. There wasn’t many people one the beach but a couple people came to see what had happened. This was probably one of the most emotional recoveries I’ve done.

Available to help you now .. 949-500-2136.    *** I was visiting my daughter on a Sunday evening when Chan called. She had lost her husband’s gold wedding ring at Crystal Cove in Newport Beach. She had put his ring in a zippered pocket of her purse. The purse had been moved around their little beach spot sea real times during the day. At the end of the day she notice the zipper pocket open and the ring was not there.

They were unable to find the ring so the returned home to Los Angeles more than 40 miles away. After she told me her story I was sure the ring had to be in the sand at the beach. Chan was too far away to meet me but I know could attempt a search without her. It is a small beach.

When I arrived at the beach it was dark. There was still an hour left till the park rangers would close the beach. After the first half hour I was running out beach to search. I called Chan to verify that I was in the right location. I was exactly in front of all the landmarks she given me. I did a second grid over the same area. Then I moved 30 feet to the south were I got the magic sound of gold in my headphones. One scoop and I had Chan’s husband’s wedding band in my hand. I took a photo and sent it to her. She met me the next day to pick up the ring, A happy and grateful lady. She was proud that she had the presence of mind to google search for a ringfinder. I was happy that she called right away instead of emailing or texting me.

>>> Kevin lost his tungsten wedding ring while playing volleyball at Bolsa Chica State Beach. Even though he immediately felt the ring slip off, he and other family members could not find the ring. 

His wife Jillian was able to locate me by doing a google search. After she called, telling me what had happened, I was able make arrangements to meet them at the location. It was easy to tell them that we had a good chance to find the ring, so don’t waist time trying to find it by hand searching. 

It didn’t take long to get to the beach but all the beach parking was full and they weren’t allowing cars to enter the parking lots. With a line of cars backed up about a half of a mile waiting for state park to allow more cars to enter, the nearest parking was maybe two miles away. Then the miracle happened, at 5 pm they started allowing cars to pass into the beach parking.

Two hours to get to the beach meeting Jillian and Kevin at the volleyball court. Then a short search with a successful recovery. They were surprised and happy to have the special ring back. Kevin couldn’t believe it was so easy to find. I explained it was only a matter of having the right tool for the right job. Metal detectors work well to find rings if you have a quality detector and you know how to use one.

It was a pleasure to help Jillian and Kevin. We had a little trouble getting to the site then we were lucky enough to have good idea of where the loss occurred. These call out are all different and tend to be little mini adventures.

Lost Gold Engagement Ring – FOUND!!! – Orange Beach, AL

I have to say that today was probably  my favorite return of the year. It had all the elements of a great day. I got the call late in the afternoon so I didn’t have to take off work,  it was a super nice couple, they weren’t sure if it was in the water or the sand, they had dug for it extensively, they had asked a stranger with a metal detector to look in the area and last but not least, there were tons of people around watching that were vested in the return because they had been watching them search all day. When Luke called me saying that Emily had dropped her engagement ring in Orange Beach I knew I had to go and help. They had been throwing a football and when they sat back down Emily’s beautiful gold and diamond engagement ring was nowhere to be found. I got some info from Luke and quickly headed that way from Pensacola. When I got to the condo the security guard told me that there was no guest parking but he would give me one hour before I had to go. I hustled down to the beach and there were still people everywhere. Most of them were closely watching what I did so you could tell that they knew all about the missing ring. Even more than normal I wanted to do my best because I knew I had an audience. After a few questions, I started out on the beach and then headed down the path they had walked to the water. I assumed that it was probably in the water so I then went over a pattern in the breaking waves and moved over the sand drop off in case it had been sucked back into deeper water. When I was coming up the beach, Luke and Emily stopped me and said that they had been discussing it and they thought they were in the very top of the breaking water which would have been higher up the beach earlier in the day. I quickly started swinging up there and was on my second pass when I heard a very faint sound. Throughout the search I had found a few targets that I dug but nothing was a good signal. This time it was a little higher pitched but it was so deep that I was intrigued. I almost ignored it thinking that there was no way it could be that deep with only a half day in the sand. Then I remembered that they had been digging for it so I decided to go ahead and see what was down there. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the gleam of gold in the scoop. Emily and Luke immediately celebrated with me and it was then that I realized just how many people were watching the drama unfold. The whole beach erupted into cheers and applause!  😃. I had to run to the parking lot to convince the security guard not to tow my car and give me a bit longer for pictures but he was very understanding. On the way out the young man and his family who had offered help with their metal detector came running up and told me that their was a lady on the beach who needed my help. When I told them that I had found her ring the young man thought that was the coolest thing in the world. I answered about 100 questions but I’m pretty sure I have hooked him and his father on this hobby for life. I am absolutely thrilled that I could return this beautiful ring to Emily and Luke. Lost Ring – Fort Morgan,AL -FOUND!!!

This is Whitney who was down with her family from Arkansas visiting Fort Morgan when she lost her brand new ring somewhere on the beach or in the Gulf. She was absolutely distraught because she and her husband Justin had been married for 13 years and finally decided to get this beautiful ring for Whitney. In her own words she knew that she shouldn’t wear it to the beach but she was just so proud of it that she couldn’t leave it behind. I always tell people to NOT dig for their rings because especially with gold the density difference makes the ring drop farther and farther into the sand. I also tell people that a cheap detector from Academy does not have the capability of finding a ring on a saltwater beach after an inch or two. Unfortunately, this ring was a prime example of both of these rules.  The night before, Whitney and Justin had driven to Foley and bought a cheap detector and dug all night at false signals making things worse. Luckily for them, my detectors can read much deeper than that and luckily for them I’m a sucker for a good story so I left at the crack of dawn to make the several hour round trip out to see if I could help. When I got there Whitney wasn’t sure if the ring was in the water or not since they had gone over the beach with the Academy detector. I told her I would start on the beach and then if it wasn’t there I would move into the water. I could see all of the disturbed sand where they had been digging so I set my machine and walked to the edge of the area to start my grid pattern. I have to say that I was a little surprised when I swung the coil to the left and before I could even complete the first swing I got a solid loud gold signal. It was a no brainer and I gently dug it out of the ground from 6 inches deep. Whitney hadn’t even walked over to her chair yet so she didn’t see me get the ring. She had mentioned earlier on the phone that they hadn’t had a good day yet because of losing the ring. I walked over and held it out and said “maybe, you can have a great day starting now.”  Needless to say, she was shocked and thrilled. She couldn’t believe that I had found it that quickly in the exact spot they had searched and dug for hours the night before. I’m so glad that I could give you back your ring and finally start your vacation right.

Maryland Man’s Wedding Ring Lost On Emerald Isle Beach Found

Laura & Roy were spending a traditional trip to Emerald Isle, North Carolina with their Maryland friends.  Roy handed his wedding band to Laura while he went for a swim.  Laura placed her husbands ring in a pocket attached to a beach chair among the group of other friends chairs.  It wasn’t until much later when Laura went to retrieve the ring from the pocket.  It was then she discovered the pocket had a hole that allowed the ring to escape.

Laura called me after a friend in the group mentioned someone must search for these kind of things and she also found from a local surf shop of my business of finding lost items.  Laura gave me a call the following day and I agreed to load up and head her way.  After searching beach near the water first, I made my way toward the higher beach.  After a few unwanted signals, I came across a solid tone on my CTX-3030.  After 1 scoop I held the ring up in the air for Laura to see and she dropped to her knees with relief!

Lost Ring in the Gulf – Orange Beach

This was an awesome return!  My new friends Kathryn and Matt has been down from Ohio enjoying beautiful Orange Beach. Kathryn learned that there are positives when you solder your rings together but the big negative is that if you were to lose one, you lose all three. That’s exactly what happened when she was throwing a ball in about chest deep water and her rings went flying in the Gulf. She found out about me 2 days later and when she called she was very worried that she had waited too long and the rings were lost forever. I told her that I had a really good track record with rings in the water and that as long as it was still there and hadn’t sunk too deep in the sand, I thought I could find it. When I got there, the whole family was in attendance and although Kathryn was trying her best to appear optimistic, I could tell that she was truly worried. I felt for her and Matt and I got in the water on a mission. I heard a couple of higher tones which would not indicate gold but I always like to dig a few things so I can get idea of depth. I got a couple of coins in a row and I realized that I had told Kathryn and Matt that I would probably dig some other things but I had not told the whole family. I saw (maybe the brother-in-law) checking out my coin digging and I thought to myself that I needed to make sure I dug everything very visibly. I was excited when the very next tone I went over sounded like gold. I very gently dug it up and put it on my finger and starting wiggling my fingers so the bro-in-law could see. When he realized I had it by the smile on my face, he yelled to Matt and Matt yelled to Kathryn. They all sprinted down to me and before I was even out of the water Kathryn was in tears and had her arms spread wide open for a hug. When Matt got choked up too I told them I knew how they felt and that’s why I do this. That will never get old. I’m so very happy for y’all!  Congratulations! 💍
