Lost Diamond Ring Found at Whistler, BC

I just finished a successful recovery for a man’s lost ring at 3rd beach at Stanley Park when my phone rang with a US area code. The first thing the young man said was… Are you TheRingFinder guy?  Yes I am I said, thinking I was going to be giving him a number to one of my American members, then he said he was at Whistler and his wife lost her diamond engagement ring at a photo shoot near a water fall.

I listened to the story about how she took off her ring and put it in her shorts as she was climbing down some big rocks, down to the water fall. When she got there she pulled off her shorts and when she put them back on she noticed her ring was not in her pocket. Her husband searched till dark for the ring with no luck, his wife was very upset and cried all night.

The next morning Cole went online to look and rent a metal detector and that’s when he found TheRingFinders directory and called. He told me the hike down to the water fall was around an hour, he also sent me pictures of where Allie took off her shorts as he thought that would be the likely area the ring fell out.

I could tell that it wasn’t going to be metal detecting friendly as there was some big rocks in the area. He was desperate to have me come out on Friday as the two of them were leaving town on an Alaska Cruise ship Saturday.  The only problem was I had to work. After a long discussing I decided to take the Friday off and head out to help the young couple.

I drove 1 1/2 hours to Whistler and met the young couple and drove them to the water fall. We hiked for close to an hour and arrived at the spot they believe the ring was lost. I used the detector in a very small area, but no signal. After rethinking the search it was inevitable that we had to pry up the rocks in the area and look underneath them.  Cole found some nice thick branches that we used to pry up the rocks, after 45 minutes it wasn’t looking good and that’s when I moved a sizeable rock from the area, as we were sitting talking I put my pin pointer into the hole and received a signal, then I put my hand into the hole and grabbed hand full of small pebbles and “Bang” there was her beautiful diamond ring in my hand!!!

Luke found, Rick returns – another team effort – at Skatet Beach

What are Friends for…yielding a helping hand.

July 31, 2018 Chris lost his wedding band while playing catch in waist deep water. The next morning I searched for 3 hours in an area marked on a birds eye photo of Skatet Beach. The search reviled nothing, except for a few coins and sinkers. At home I planed my next effort to locate the missing ring.
Unbeknown to me, another detecting friend, Luke, per chance without knowing of the lost ring found it. He texted our mutual friend Jim. Jim told Luke that I was looking for the ring he had just found. After confirmation that Luke had found the lost ring, he gave me the ring to return to Chris. It was mailed on Saturday and should be delivered on Monday.
Luke has now made application to become one of the elite TheRingFinders. Welcome, Luke!

Lost Tantalum Ring found on Volleyball court at Chicago Beach

Received a call regarding a lost ring on a volleyball court.

Told me he lost it on Friday and contacted me on Tuesday, our courts are hit hard over the weekend so I really did not have high hopes of finding it but told him will give it my best shot.

This the first time I have been asked to find a Tantalum ring, honestly never even heard of it before this.

The old adage applies, they are never found where you think they should be, after about an hour of searching with no luck, I broadened my search area and hit it about 50 feet where he thought it would be, any way no matter happy ending..

Lost Engagement Ring in Iowa – Found

I received a text over the weekend saying they needed my services to find a silver engagement ring in the back yard. I was not available at that time so I met up with Blake late Monday afternoon. He said him and his fiancé were chipping sticks when a stick caught the ring and pulled it off. The grass was pretty long in the back yard because he did not want to mow until he found the ring. I started the grid search and after about an hour he came and we discussed it more. The yard was not very big so I went one way and then changed directions and could not believe I could not find it. He asked if the other half of the ring would be of use. Well, Duh, I should of asked for that in the beginning….Lesson learned number one. He went and got the ring and we put it on the ground and I did a test pass. It was ringing up as a 41-43 on my AT Max….Lesson learned number 2….I assumed since he told me it was silver it would ring in the 70-90 range. I had the AT Max discrimination set pretty high. I reset the detector and started all over with the grid. Within about 15 minutes Blake came back to check on me and while he was standing there I got a hit in the 40’s. Like so many other times I figured it was nothing and started digging in the grass and there it was. Needless to say everyone left happy.  Sorry about the crappy photo.

Antique diamond ring recovered from longboat marina in Warwickshire

I received a call from Willi who lost his diamond ring that his partner gave to him only three days before!

She had been looking for this very special ring for about six months and finally found one, only to be told by Willi that it had only just slipped from his finger while they were moored on their longboat in the marina where they live.

This happened about three weeks ago and they had since been on holiday on their boat, when they decided to give me a call.

In my time as a ringfinder I’ve done a fair few searches in water with great success. So we agreed I would do a search on Saturday 21st.  I was told the depth was about 25 inches, so off I went with my trusty Sorex Pro, waders and a couple of scoops.

When I got there the whole situation seemed a lot more challenging, there was no gentle slope onto the water but a drop straight into the marina.

A ladder was now required which we soon managed to find. Now the fun began , the depth may have been 25 inches in one place but it was more like 4 feet plus about 8 to 10 inches of soft silt. This meant the control box had to re positioned to the very end of the detector shaft and detecting with a normal one handed manner was not possible. Instead I had to use two hands and use the detector almost like a stirrer while also trying to keep my scoop and floating plastic tray nearby so I could offload the silt/clay into as it would not wash through my scoop very well.

Anyway after about 20 minutes, I kept getting a very clear signal that I just had to recover, problem was I was also getting very strong signals from the steel hull of a nearby boat, so that had to be moved. After much perseverance and much smelly water filling up my waders I managed to remove the signal from the marina bed and emptied the contents of my scoop into the tray. The pure signal was now in the tray! After a little feel around in the silt out came this beautiful ring. The only signal I managed to recover and it was the lost ring!

The look on Willi’s face was priceless, along with the sound of delight from both him and his partner and a fair few onlookers.

This has to be one of my most memorable recoveries , and so pleased at the outcome.

Willi has now been told he must have the ring re sized. Good idea as I really don’t want to have to go back into that slime pit again!

Lost wedding ring North Shore FOUND!

It was Sunday morning around 5 AM and I take a look at my missed calls while checking emails. That’s when I noticed there was a voicemail of a lost wedding ring at Sunset beach on the North Shore. I responded to the voicemail via text. The couple, Sean and Megan now were on vacation from Utah. We agreed to meet up so my family and I headed down to Sunset Beach.

When we arrived at their address Sean took us to the back of their beautiful vacation rental which is steps away to the beach. Meeting the family and getting the story on how Megan unfortunately lost her ring was heart wrenching. She was playing in the sun and enjoying the water with the kids and after sometime in the water she looked at her hand and noticed that her ring of 19 years fell off her finger and she didn’t know where! In desperation The family tried snorkeling but didn’t find it.

I gathered all the information I needed and headed down the beach. I asked Sean if he can grab a bunch of the white rocks in the sand to help line the bottom of the ocean floor as markers while I search and grid out the area. I decided to start from the deepest part and work my way to the shallows as the tide was on the rise! I did one pass around chest deep to over head and nothing. But, as I started to make my next line I got a loud “platinum” sound in the deeper part of the sandbar. I started to dig and fan all along looking and praying this is the lost ring. I then notice a ring, approximately 6” buried in the sand with the markings described of Megan’s ring, a big and thick Platnuim band with yellow gold that surrounding a diamond. I was sooooo excited to find it! As I grabbed it and looked up towards the beach where the entire family stood looking at myself and Sean, I held up her RING and Megan’s sister shouted… “I think he found it!” And the whole family was moved with emotions and tears as i can hear them excited and in awe. So, I handed Sean his wife’s lost but FOUND wedding ring. As Sean headed up the beach he met his wife in the yard and got on one knee to put back on her finger. The precious ring symbolized  his love for her.

To the Stolhs … THIS FIND WAS ANSWERED PRAYERS! Another vacation saved and another happy ending!  Glad to help and have a blessed time on the North Shore!

I received a call from a gentleman whose wife had lost her wedding and engagement rings on a beach a few miles from my house. The problem was that I was out of town on vacation and couldn’t help, or could I? I put a call out to a few fellow detectorists who turned out to be unavailable but after checking the directory I found another Ring Finder who was about an hour and half away and recommended a call to him. Long story short, he made the trip down the coast and recovered the rings the next morning. Goes to show,  you should always call a Ring Finder first.

LOST WEDDING RING – WASHINGTON, LA – FOUND

Tobi called on July 6th, 2 days after losing her platinum and diamond wedding ring. She felt it fly off when throwing a ball to her kids. Luckily, she heard it hit a landscape timber. That really narrowed the search area. Carrie and I jumped in the truck and drove the 40 miles to her house. Within 10 minutes, Sid got a strong 47 reading on his Garrett AT PRO. Right below the surface was the beautiful ring. After reuniting Tobi and her ring, we cooled down while having a nice visit with Tobi and her dad. Loaded up the truck and headed home. Thank you Tobi for your generous reward!

LOST WEDDING RING IN WAIKIKI FOUND

This ring find started in the late evening around 9:00pm on June 16th. I noticed on craigslist an ad that said they lost their wedding ring in Waikiki. I respond to the ad and got a call back from Jay. Asked him a bunch of questions and Apparently there were 3 other detectors who tried looking for it and didn’t find it. I was a bit hesitant to go out and look knowingly that there were 3 others who looked and supposedly didn’t find it. I was hoping that someone didn’t find it or worse they may have found it but wasn’t truthful. My gut was telling me to go out there and help them so, I did. I let Jay know that I’m on my way and to make sure NO MORE METAL DETECTORS go through the area. I get to the beach and meet up with Jay and started to look… there in the search site was almost 60 drunk people partying on the beach, beer cans, rubbish, rough waves and a lot of coins. About 4 hours later I get a nice tone while I’m in chest deep water… there in my scoop is a beautiful 3.8 karat wedding ring. I look towards shore and turn on my headlamp so Jay can see me and start nodding my head so he knows the ring is found. I give a loud shout of praise and I hear the people on the beach yelling ” YOU FOUND IT?” as I reply “YES”. The people on the beach gathered around as I presented Jay His wife ring back. All i could hear were people yelling and excited that the ring was found. Jay and I both agreed to let his wife know so she could enjoy the return of here precious ring. Another successful recovery and another honeymoon saved. WHAT A GREAT FATHERS DAY GIFT!!!

LOST WEDDING RING IN WAIKIKI… FOUND!

This recovery started on June 27th with phone tag between Gabriel and myself late in the evening. Gabriel left me an email around noon time that explained He lost His wedding ring in the water at Waikiki. I knew Waikiki was a heavily hunted spot for metal detectors and needed to get down there ASAP before this ring is gone forever. I continued to call and email Gabriel until we finally got ahold of each other. I drove out to met up with the couple who are here on their honeymoon from Alberta Canada. We headed to the beach which we stood on the shoreline and I tried to gather as much information as possible. Gabriel explained to me where He and His wife were sitting and where they entered the water. This helped and really painted a picture for me which I was able to narrow down the search site. I encouraged the couple to pray and I let them know that if I find the ring while in the water since it’s dark I will turn on my head lamp and look towards them and make a nodding motion so they will know that the ring is found. I started my search and after a few passes I pick up a penny and a dime. And as i continued to look I get a great tone and start to dig… I hear something in the scoop and it sounds like a RING. I pulled out my Xtreme scoop from the water and there inside and is a 14K white Gold mens wedding band with the inscription of June 23, 2018. I knew it was Gabriels ring! I turned on my headlamp, made the nodding motion towards the anticipating couple on the shoreline and gave a loud shout of JOY. I headed back to shore where I could hear the couple talking… both excited and shocked. So, as I approched the couple who were stand anticipating the good news and extend my hand with Gabriels ring at the end of my fingertips… they both agreed that that it was his lost ring and now its found! They were amazed that I found it and in that short amount of time. It was with Gabriels help that put me in the right spot and it was definitely an ANSWERED PRAY ON ALL OF OUR REQUESTS.
