Wedding Ring Lost at Park Tot Lot in Studio City, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

Nir called last Saturday night. He explained how he had taken his daughter to the local park, and was pushing her on the swing when a metal piece of the swing caught his ring and pulled it off of his finger. All in a second the ring that was custom made in Israel for his wedding, was gone. He and his wife searched for the ring in the sand for over an hour, but were unable to find it. I told him I would be there as soon as traffic would allow, and was on my way.

When I got to the park there was no lighting and it was very dark. I got out of the truck and then Nir called out. We met, and he pointed to the area we were going to search. I got my headlight on, and we headed over to the tot lot. He showed me what happened, and I proceeded to search. The spot was pretty clean of metal except a bit of iron here and there, but I wasn’t hearing what I was looking for. It wasn’t until I started searching the adjacent swing that I received the signal I was looking for. I put in my scoop, and inside was a very good looking ring, I pulled it out showing Nir, and he was very delighted. It seems as though the ring was sent flying in the opposite direction, and to the side of where they had envisioned it having traveled, so as always, we need to search out of the box. What a happy evening for Nir and his wife. It was great meeting and being able help him that night.

This is my story
On Saturday, 11/19/2017, at 4:00 PM, I went with my wife and my daughter to the park. As I rocked my girl on the swing, my wedding ring was pulled from my finger and fell into the sand.
After extensive searching and lots of help from good people, the loss was not found and I had to accept fate.
The evening came and I decided that this ring was too important to me and I was not going to give it up so easily.
I started looking online with a professional who comes with a metal detector and the first person who intrigued me was Steve Smith who answered me on the phone right away.
I told him the story and asked how much his service would cost me.
Steve answered that I could pay as much as I think fit. I was in in shock from his answer! He said that in any case he would come to help me even if I did not pay him at all!
I really wanted him to find my wedding ring.
We met in the park at six in the evening. It was already dark. Steve would get organized quickly and after 20 seconds the loss would be found !!! And I was very happy
I met a charming person who wants to help with all his heart!

Received a text message asking me to look for a ring lost while doing fall cleanup in Wheaton, Illinois. There were 4 possible areas that it could have been lost in. Found it in the first area I hunted. Used my CTX3030. Rang up at 26 VDI.

Lost Diamond & Gold Wedding Ring at White Plains Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call Friday evening from Tracy who lives in Kailua. Tracy works for NOAA Hawaiian Monk Seal Rescue and was currently involved with a rescue at White Plains Beach. Her team was in the process of removing a fish hook from the throat of a Hawaiian Monk Seal when Tracy found her wedding ring getting tangled in the process. She remove the ring and placed it in the back pocket of her shorts and continued with the assistance on the monk seal. The team decided the monk seal would require sedation and in patient care so they transported the monk seal to their sanctuary for surgery. With the monk seal safely in transport Tracy went to retrieve her ring from her back pocket and it was gone. She and her team looked around the beach but it was no where to be found. The lifeguards at White Plains gave Tracy my number and we decided to meet the next morning for the hunt. An accident on the freeway made me about an hour late but Tracy patiently waited. When I arrived Tracy took me down to the spot on the beach from the moment she placed the ring in her short’s pocket. There was quite a bit of beach to search and the area was fairly trashy so I had to work through the chatter. After searching the first area with no luck Tracy showed me the path she took to the next area she was in. Nearly halfway to that spot along the path I got a great signal and one scoop down I retrieved the target. Looking in the scoop and pulling out the ring I showed Tracy and said, “Nah! This can’t be your ring.” She looked over in utter amazement and said, “Yes! That’s it!” A hug of relief and Tracy called her husband to give him the good news. Tracy was so thankful and said the knot she had in her stomach instantly went away. Aloha to Tracy! BTW the Hawaiian Monk Seal had the fish hook successfully removed and was returned to the wild that morning. Mahalo to the Team for their dedication and hard work keeping these beautiful creatures healthy!

Lost Ring In Surf at Laguna Beach .. Found

Paul actually saw his ring come off his finger while searching for lost keys in waist deep surf. He was at Picnic Cove which is one of many small beaches in Laguna Beach, CA. When I talked to Paul he said it happened 3 hours before calling me. Checking the tide table, determining that it happened just about high tide. It was a good sign that we had a chance to find it at low tide. The only problem is all the beaches have different characteristics. They also change with the currents and wave action.

We made arrangements to meet that night just before low tide. Going by his verbal directions I arrived earlier to start the search from the upper sand slope as the tide receded. Paul and his wife Sonia showed up just before I reached he waters edge. He directed me out onto the bedrock reef, where I gridded in knee deep surf. It was dark and there were many crevasses that could hide a ring.

When I came back to the sandy part of the beach, Sonia told me she thought it was lost closer to the sand. I took a few minutes to finish where I had left off my original grid. Boom! Paul’s platinum rose gold with diamonds wedding ring, there in a couple inches of water right where the sand met the rock reef. Paul and Sonia were standing up further on the beach with that look of doubt on their faces, but that changed to smiles of joy when I held up the ring for them to see.

It was a beautiful custom made ring that Sonia had designed. She had custom made for Paul while she was on vacation in India. Paul was embarrassed that this happen after they had only been married four months. Finding the ring was a special moment for all of us. I love helping people.

Lost My Ring While Raking Leaves In The Lower Mainland/Vancouver

Well it’s that time of year again when people are losing their jewelry while gardening and raking leaves, It happens every fall! The sad thing is most people just give up the search after they can’t find their lost item. I got a call from a young man named Joe who didn’t give up the search and found TheRingFinders.com online while looking to rent a metal detector.

Joe explained to me over the phone that he felt that the ring might have come off his finger when he took his gloves off to answer his phone in his front yard. He wasn’t 100% sure but he thought it was the most likely place where the ring could be lost. Joe searched himself but to no avail,

He was not ready to give up the search so he had me come out to take a look.

I was excited for the challenge but I only had a 4 hour window before I started work so I drove out to his place (over an hour drive each way) and to both of our surprise the search only took 10 seconds! That’s right… turn on the machine 10 seconds later I found his ring, I have the best job in the world… I get to make people smile, Joe was in a little bit of shock as he couldn’t believe I was holding up his ring so quickly. Lost Celphone at Long Beach, CA. Found and Returned

Friday night Katie was with friends on the beach at Belmont Shores when she lost her cellphone in the dry sand. The next morning she was able determine that her phone was still at the beach using the “find my friend app” on her roommates phone. After several hours searching the sand with three of her friends, one of them searched the internet and found TheRingFinders site.

I got the call and met Katie on the beach soon after verifying that she could be there. It took about a half hour till I got the exact signal that matched my cellphone. Katie was close by, so I called her over to hear what I heard in my headphones. Then I let her retrieve the phone by feeling through the sand.
It made it a special recovery for her and it’s always safer not to damage the phone with a sand scoop.

These days of smartphones it’s not only the cost and trouble to purchase a new phone. These phones have photos and information that can’t be replaced. I’ve been on a lot of lost ring hunts over the years.  I’ve found 65 rings to date and probably not found another 65.  Every hunt is different, and I rarely say no to a search.  When I got a call recently to look for a ring along the side of the road … I couldn’t say no.  As many lost ring finders know, side of road searches are tough.  There is a ton of trash and it’s dangerous. This search was for a lost ring that was lost after a head on car accident.  Unfortunately, the driver was killed and his ring was never found.  After reading a story about another lost ring hunt I did in the paper, the woman called me to see if I could search for her late husband’s lost ring. Her family had thought about looking for a metal detector rental, but wisely called a professional instead.

Ruby and Diamond Pendant Lost at Palos Verdes Estates, CA Beach…Found and Joyously Returned.

Karyn called last night and explained how she had gone to a particular beach to get pictures taken for a holiday photo shoot. During the process of the photography session she was putting on and taking off a shoulder wrap. It seems that while removing the wrap, it unhooked the chain that held her ruby and diamond pendant. She noticed it missing and went back to scour the rocks where it would have fallen. She looked and was able to find the chain that held the pendant, but not the pendant itself. We talked about it, I asked some questions, and we agreed to meet this morning.

When I got to the beach Karyn was waiting for me and took me down to the spot where she believed the pendant to have been lost. She showed me where she had found the chain,and where she had been sitting during the photo shoot. I began my search, and was getting thrown off by the mineralization of the seaweed in the area. I made a few adjustments and continued the search. I was not able to find the pendant, but Karyn said she had also been sitting in another area as well  and showed me where to look. I began searching in the new area, and when I got to the place she had been sitting, I received a good tone in the head phones and looked down. I could see the edge of something wedged between 2 rocks and reached down to check it out. I then pulled up the pendant and showed it to Karyn who immediately came over and gave me a big hug. She had been given a necklace many years back, and decided she would like to do something different with it, so on a vacation trip to India her friend convinced her to bring the necklace along, and while in India had it transformed into this awesome pendant. How special is that? It was truly a pleasure to be able to help Karyn today.

TODAY WAS MY LUCKY DAY
My pendant was found by Steve Smith, the best ring and pendant finder hands down.
I had this necklace that was given to me in the 80’s it was really 80’s looking and I wanted a more contemporary piece.
I was telling my girlfriend that I wanted it redone.
I happened to be going to India towards the end of last year with her and she told me she had the finest Jeweler in Delhi.
I carried that necklace with me to India and met with the jeweller.
I sat for about an hour designing this and felt so proud of the out come. I cherished it.
Flash forward to today  I was doing our Christmas pictures in Palos Verdes on the rocks at the beach no less.
I came home and noticed it was gone.
I had a knot in my stomach, I was so upset.
Ran back the next day and found the chain ,but no pendant.
Then I got  frantic it had to be there it just had to.
I could not find it anywhere.
Went home went online and found Steve.
He was just awesome. Asking me questions and he was so calm.
We met the next day and I was so impressed with his gadgets he set up and he went to town.
He’s thorough and precise.
It helped that I guided him to where I was sitting.  I was in 2 locations.
I was pacing and digging a hole to China while he was diligently scanning.
And then he held it up and said is this it ?
I shrieked in happiness and ran to hug and kiss him.
He found it he found it, he found it.
Today was my lucky day:)

Gold Ruby Ring Lost at Huntington Beach, CA…Found and Returned.

I got a call yesterday from Deena regarding a ring she lost at the beach. She was there with some friends and their dogs having a fun time, when she picked up a ball to throw for one of the dogs. She made an underhand throw, and as the ball left her hand, so did her ring. She thought it should be where the ball had landed, so she and her friends looked and looked with no results. She found me on the internet, and I asked a few questions, and then let her know I would be there as soon as I could get there.

When I arrived, I found them down on the beach where the loss occurred, and Deena proceeded to show me what had happened. She had thrown towards the water which worried me a bit because the tide was coming in and the wave action was a bit intense at the water line. I began where they believed the ring had gone going up and down the slope getting a bottle cap, a few pennies and a quarter, but no ring. I then went down closer to the water when it receded and made a few grids there. They really did not believe it was that far, so I came back up and decided to cross grid the area I had already searched, but with a much wider grid. I made 3 more passes, and was way outside of the original search area when I got a real good signal in the head phones. I put the scoop in, shook it out, and there in the bottom was a cool looking custom gold ring. I reached in and held it up to Deena’s and her friend’s surprise. They had no idea that the ring would have gone so far to the left of where she had thrown the ball. Rest assured, we as Ring Finders know to look out of the box, because a lot of times rings seem to do the impossible. I was so glad to have made 3 wonderful smiles yesterday. A great time!

Lost Man’s Titanium Wedding Ring in Orient, OH. “FOUND”

I received a call about a lost man’s titanium wedding ring, lost about two years ago in the back yard. It all happened   while taking his dog outside in the backyard. The dog leash was being held by his left hand then the dog darted off, at the same time his arm swung and the ring few through the air somewhere in the backyard.  I started my search with about half of the the yard being search with no luck. Continuing my search I received a good hit, dig and saw the ring they in the dirt. He was very happy to have the ring returned to him.
