Purity Ring Lost, Found and Returned on Anna Maria Island

A Leadership conference group from the G5 Church in Davenport, Florida came down to Anna Maria Island for a day of rest and relaxation. Some of the young people were playing soccer in the warm sand when BreAnn fell down. When she got up, her hands were all covered with sand. (You know how it is when you have suntan lotion on and dip your hands into sand) She pulled her Purity ring off so she could get the sand out from under it and immediately dropped it into the sand. It of course disappeared. They all looked and looked with no luck. They started to sift the whole area with play plastic sand strainers and another member of the group went in search of a metal detector. He found a detector but they were not successful in finding the ring. Finally because the day was coming to an end and they needed to return to the Orlando area, Josana started looking on the internet for help. She found SRARC on the Ring Finders and contacted Tom Jones. Tom contacted Mike Miller and Mike headed down to the Island right away. When he arrived they showed him the area they had sifted (only about 6 sq. ft.) and he got ready to hunt. Two swings later he got the gold tone, leaned over and picked up the ring. It was in the pile of sand that they had sifted and one of the sifters was actually sitting on top of it.

BreAnn was overjoyed and the others were in shock that it was found so fast. They were all smiling and excited that BreAnn had her ring back. We had a round of hugs and then they were on their way home. I think they must have had a very happy ride home. It is always a pleasure for us at SRARC to be able to return special items to their owner.

Treasure Box Lost in Attic Insulation in Richmond, Texas found by John Volek

Treasure Box Lost in Attic Insulation in Richmond, Texas (found) by John Volek

I was contacted by Dustin regarding a lost treasure box in the attic of his home in Richmond, Texas. Dustin said prior to leaving for a vacation several months back, he had hidden an ammo box with some important papers and other personal items in the attic of his residence. Dustin said, he had placed the ammo box under the insulation some where in one of the two attic spaces in his residence. Dustin said, this was done literally while walking out the door to go on his vacation.

Dustin said after several months he went back into the attic to retrieve the box, he said, he couldn’t find the box in the twelve inches of attic insulation.

Dustin said, several months have passed since then, and he has searched the attic numerous times trying to locate the missing ammo box.

Dustin said he was researching the internet for ways to find a metal object and came across “The Ring Finders” website. Dustin said he didn’t think twice and placed the call!

Made the short trip over to Dustin’s today and was shown the area’s needing to be searched. They were two separate attic space areas in different area of the home. I selected what appeared to be the more difficult of the two attic spaces to search first. I select the wrong one, cleared it with negative results and moved across the house to the smaller of the two attic spaces.

A few minutes later a solid signal indicating a large metal object, Dustin’s picture tell the rest of the story.

Wedding Ring lost found and returned Madeira Beach, Florida

Ryan and his wife Ashley were enjoying at sunny afternoon at the beach tossing around a Nerf Football when Ryan felt his ring fly off his finger.  They immediately went to try and rent a metal detector at a rent all type place, but were disappointed to find that all the rental places detectors were broken.  So they posted an add on Craigslist in hopes someone may spot the ring.  Howard Metts saw the post and gave Stan Flack a heads up to the post since it was near his home.  After a few text’s and emails, Stan decided he had enough information and gave a hunt for the ring on his way to work.  After about 10 minutes of hunting, bingo, ring found.  Ryan and Ashley ecstatic about the find, met Stan at his work and the ring was returned.  Smile’s all the way around.

Lost Titanium & Diamonds Wedding Band at Waikiki Beach…FOUND!!!

Wednesday evening while attending the Honolulu Coin Club meeting I got a call from Jay stating his friend Robert from Las Vegas lost his wedding band in the water behind the famous Duke’s at Waikiki Beach. They had been celebrating Roberts 50th Birthday in the 50th State. I told him to email some specifics and I would look at the surf & tide report to determine when the best time to hunt would be. I decided low tide 11:30 AM would be best and the surf was coming down slowly. We met at Robert’s hotel and walked down to the beach. Robert thought the ring came off in waist deep water and he showed me the limits to search, so I started in the wave bench and then in and out from the shoreline to at least chest deep water. I found a dime, then a GoPro HERO 3 camera that took about 20 scoops to dig up. It was toast. Then half a penny and a first ever thimble. What the heck is a thimble doing in the water at Waikiki? This took about an hour without finding the ring. Then Robert’s lovely wife Carla told me she had a video of Robert losing his ring. Great! Lets take a look at it and see if we missed something. The video was dark so we went into Duke’s to get out of the bright sun to see it. Fortunately we both noticed the beach sand was flat in the video so it must have been high tide. Also where we think the ring came off was actually dry sand at low tide. So I went out to the beach and started a grid search in the sand. Where the wet sand met dry sand a little girl had built a sand castle. I initially went around her during the first hunt. This time as I passed over the remnants of the castle I got a nice tone. Two scoops down and there was Robert’s ring. Amazing the little girl didn’t find it while building her castle. Carla came running down and gave me a big hug as I handed her the ring. The tourists on the beach erupted into a round of applause! These are the best moments in this hobby and I cherish each one immensely. Carla then cutely got down on one knee and presented the ring to Robert. Another round of applause went up and there were smiles all around. Aloha to Carla & Robert.

Lost Wedding Band with Awesome Inscription at Ko Olina…….FOUND!!!

When I woke up Tuesday morning for work there was an email from Juliette asking what would it take for me to locate her husbands ring at Ko Olina lagoon three in waist deep water. In that email she said it was on the left side near the rocks. After work I drove out to Ko Olina and started my search along the rocks on the left side. Ko Olina is very clean and on my first leg I found only a deep quarter and a shallow penny. At the end of my second leg in neck deep water I got a great ring tone. Without my weight belt it was hard to dig into the sand and at high tide the surge wasn’t allowing me to stay on target. I waited for a calm in the set then ducked under water. The ring was exposed by my previous attempt so I scooped it up quickly and headed for shallow water. Waist deep…I don’t think so. I was several feet from waist deep water. When I looked at the tungsten carbide ring I almost peed my pants. The inscription on the inside of the ring read in capitol letters “DON”T LOSE ME”. I wasn’t sure if this was Juliette’s husband’s ring as she didn’t respond before I left for the lagoon and it was much deeper then she described. When I got home I emailed Juliette to call me. After about an hour the phone rang and it was her. I told her I found a Tungsten ring but she would have to tell me what the hilarious inscription was. Needless to say she nailed it. We met at Pearl Harbor this afternoon and I was able to return her husband’s ring. All smiles, happy ending and a laugh too. Aloha to Juliette and her husband.

Wedding ring & Engagement ring found in Kelowna BC Canada

  • from Kelowna (British Columbia, Canada)
Contact:

Spring had arrived in Kelowna BC Canada, and Yvette was cleaning out her back yard. She removed a vine that was on a fence between her home and a golf course, Yvette collected a large bin and six garbage bags full of garden waste. Once completed she realized she had lost her 14k Wedding ring and Engagement ring that were joined together, she was devastated and spent the whole day searching for it. Her Mother in Calgary found “The Ringfinders” website and sent me an email, I replied send me Yvette`s address and I will respond within the hour. I searched the whole yard and over the fence on the golf course to no avail, the only place left was the garden waste which Yvette and her husband had searched four times with a metal detector. Undaunted I dumped out all the contents and did a systematic search, at the bottom of the bin was the ring inside a discarded plant. Yvette was delighted, I told her to call her Mother and thank her.

Ring Recovery – Diamond Wedding Ring Found in Kua Bay, Big Island Hawaii

Ring Returned to Laura at Kua Bay

So happy to find Laura’s lost ring at Kua Bay.

Ring Recovery on the Big Island at Kua Bay, Hawaii

Diamond Ring recovered.

Laura called us this morning and left a message saying she had lost her ring at Kua Bay on the Big Island of Hawaii. We were concerned as we know at this time Kua Bay has some very large waves. Brent called her back and she informed us she was playing with her kid in 1 foot of water and saw the ring fly off her finger go up the shore with the water. She assured us that she knew exactly where the ring was lost. Her husband spent the rest of the afternoon looking for the ring. As we know, rings sink in matter of a few seconds. Brent told her the possibilities of a small ring in a large ocean – but also mentioned what we know of many-a-ring lost in sandy areas – that there is a great possibility that it would have be trapped by the immediate sand and was still near where she lost it!

We checked the waves and weather report and it said that high waves were developing into dangerous conditions by the evening. This was not a good forecast for ring recovery.

We felt that because it was so shallow – and in a sandy area – and because she knew exactly where she lost it (as she had seen the ring come off) that there was a good possibility we could find it, despite the waves.

We were also approaching low tide so needed to act quickly. We agreed to meet Laura at Kua Bay, who had a 90 minute drive ahead of her as she was coming from another side of the island.

We had a general idea of where it was so both Brent and I (Sylvie) began searching before she arrived. Brent with his Excalibur (Minelab) and me with my trusty (Garett) Sea Hunter (which actually does just fine around the lava even though it is a pulse induction detector). We could see the tide was getting higher and higher and also rougher and angrier. Laura arrived and narrowed down our search area.

Brent found it 15 minutes later!!! People on the beach who had been watching all clapped when he presented it to her! Laura had posted signs the night before at the beach – and some people asked us if we were looking for the ring the in the “lost” posted signs.

It was one of the most unique and beautiful rings we have seen. Laura confessed that she did not think we would find it but had been praying. It was so great to hand her back her rainbow wedding ring. This was a ring design she had seen when she was 15 and she’d told herself that when she got married this would be the ring her husband would give her. She has been married 9 years.

Mahalo! Laura for trusting us to find your ring!! We’re so glad its still part of your life!

Laura told us she had her husband’s prayer group praying for the recovery. Brent had also started praying as soon as he heard we’d be going out to look for the ring! It seems to have worked. Brent continued metal detecting for fun for another 30 minutes and said had we arrived to look for Laura’s ring any later it would not have been possible as the waves had started pounding hard.

NOTE: If you lose your ring please don’t post signs and be careful whom you tell – we know there are people who will take advantage of the information that you lost a valuable item. We have been told that some metal detectorists prefer to collect their finds and not make an effort to return them to their owners. Please only tell trusted sources.

Platinum Tiffany and Co. Wedding Band Lost in Backyard in Winnetka, CA…Joyously Returned.

  • from Redondo Beach (California, United States)

P1000091P1000090

I received a call from David Thursday night about his wedding band he thought was lost in the backyard while working in the garden. I talked to him about arrangements to meet at his house, and because I knew that there wasn’t much of a chance it going anywhere, I figured the ring would be safe. Well David informed me that he had a lot of squirrels in the area, and he worried one of them might run off with it. I had not thought of that possibility, so we arranged to meet at our earliest convenience which was today.

When I got to the house David showed me to the yard where the garden was. It was a good sized plot that was covered with a thick layer of fresh mulch. David explained how he had been pulling the crabgrass from the garden, and digging deep to get the roots out. It also had steel fence posts hammered into the ground spaced out at equal intervals throughout the garden which I explained would make my search very difficult, so we decided to remove them. I started my search and was getting a lot of iron readings on my detector, and remembered from a previous search, that some mulch companies put rusted nails and screws in their mulch to add iron to the soil. I received a good signal, and dug a very small piece of non ferrous metal. I continued on in another plot, and after setting one grid line, I received a very good signal, and got my plastic trowel (so as not to hurt the ring) and my pin pointer to focus the search. I found the ring about 3 to 4 inches underneath the mulch. David and his wife were very happy to have his token of their promise to each other back on his hand. I in turn was happy to be able to make someone’s day today.

If you lose your ring or other metal item of value, call as soon as possible. I will work hard to help you find what you thought might never be found again. I search,  Beverly Hills, Hermosa Beach, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, Newport Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Santa Monica, Seal Beach, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Torrance, Venice Beach, and all parks, yards, gardens, and ponds (to 5 foot depths) in all of Orange County, all of Los Angeles County, and Ventura County.
