Diamond stud earring returned, Centennial, Colorado

Gina loaned her diamond stud earrings to her daughter, Azariah, as any good mother does. Azariah was at a park when she was jumped by another girl. During the fight that ensued a couple sets of earrings, along with a silver pendent were lost. Gina took her daughter to the hospital to care for her injuries, luckily there were no major ones sustained. After Azeturn’s return home the search for the missing jewelry began. Gina borrowed a metal detector from a friend and found the silver pendant, she then tested one of the remaining earrings and could not get a reading on it. Next she rented a prospecting detector and found a couple of earrings, earring backs and portions of the chain that the pendant was on. One of her 14 kt white gold diamond stud earrings was still missing. Over the next couple of weeks Gina spent MANY hours out searching the woodchip lot looking for that one earring with no luck. Azariah found my profile on The Ring Finders and called me. I was out at the lot the following night with four detectors in hand. The first couple of machines that I tried could not get a signal from the one remaining earring, one other received a signal though it was mixed with ground noise and tough to discern. My last machine, the Teknitics T2, would consistently sound off of the earring. I began my search picking up tiny foil, a BB and a couple other pieces of trash. Shortly after my search started Gina had to go to a parent-teacher conference so she left me to search. Not long after she left I received a faint but repeatable signal. Under an inch or two of wood chips sat the one missing earring.

A couple of days later we met and I gave her that missing earring. She was ecstatic.

5 carat diamond ring lost in Golden, Colorado

Nadine was visiting her family in Golden, Colorado from her home state of Indiana. While here she helped put in a play area for grand children and then attended a party that night. During the placement of the pea gravel for the play area Nadine noticed that the 5 carat diamond ring given to her by her husband was a bit loose so she took the ring off and placed it the back pocket of her jeans. After working on the play area Nadine had to quickly get ready as her son and daughter-in-law were having a party. The next morning Nadine went to get her ring our of her pocket and it wasn’t there. Her heart sank. The family searched the house and the yard but her ring was no where to be found.

Nadine found my information on TheRingFinders and called me. We made arrangements for me to perform a search that night after work. After my arrival we talked and Nadine showed me around the house and the yard. I grabbed my CTX and headed for the search area in the yard. I had nearly completed my search of the play area when Nadine came out and said I might as well stop my search. She had talked with a woman who was at the party and she specifically remembered that Nadine did have her ring on that evening.

I asked Nadine if she would like me to help re-search the house for her. She was a bit reluctant due to the families diligent search of the house but she agreed to my assistance. I started in her bedroom and searched in her dressers, the bathroom, under desks and in and around the night stands and bed. I ended up going through her laundry hamper, searching each and every piece of clothing very carefully. Finally at the bottom of the hamper I noticed a cardboard bottom and under that the ring was hiding. I placed her ring on my figure and headed up the stairs to talk with Nadine. As I reached midpoint of the stairs I started holding my chin, unfortunately Nadine had her back to me while we talked for 30-45 seconds. When she turned around and noticed the ring she started crying and jumping around in excitement.

Clemson class ring returned in Denver, Colorado

Tim Hadsell was visiting his sister in the Denver area from his home in Virginia when he lost his beloved Clemson class ring. It happen during a bit of a snow ball fight after a 20+ inch snow fall. A search for Tim’s ring followed but partially due to the time of day, 10:30PM, the ring was not found. They then found my information on TheRingFinders and contacted me the next day. Due to commitments that evening I could only search the following morning and maybe a few minutes that evening.

That following morning I arrived at the search site around 7:30 and searched for 2 hours. But with 16-20 inches of snow the search was unproductive. After work I returned for a few minutes of searching that evening. I expanded my search area and still nothing. Upon returning to the main search area with a good reduction of snow during the day I heard a faint signal from my CTX. I pulled away 12+ inches of snow and  rechecked the signal which had moved. I chased the signal around a bit and suddenly Tim’s ring revealed itself.

Tim got to return home with his ring just a couple of days later.

Sliver wedding band recovered on Loveland Pass

Two months ago Adam and Emily were married. Their wedding bands were something extra-ordinary as they had .actually made their wedding bands from a single piece of silver bar stock. Fast forward to Saturday November 7th, they spent the morning doing some early season skiing at A-Basin. On their way home, they stopped by a memorial to (5) people who had perished in an avalanche several years ago. This memorial is on Loveland pass at an altitude of about 11,600 ft. Even though the memorial is over 100 yards off the road, Emily  didn’t put on her gloves as it was warm out for a Colorado winter day. Emily climbed up to the memorial from the trail that leads to it and had to put her unprotected hands into the snow in order to get the traction needed to get to the area she wanted to look at. She spent a few minutes looking over photos, flowers and adornments that make up the memorial. They hiked back to their car and proceeded home. Shortly after arriving home Emily noticed that her wedding band was missing.

In Adam’s quest to find metal detectors to rent he came across my profile on TheRingFinders and called me. We set a time and location to meet so that they could take me to the suspected location of the lost ring. After showing me around the site and explaining what they had dome we headed back to my truck to gear up and begin our search. Upon reaching the site I recovered a couple of pistol casings, though I knew that these targets weren’t Emily’s ring I wanted to make sure that they weren’t masking the ring. I climbed the embankment that Emily did just a few hours before and there I received a signal on my White’s MXT that matched that of when I checked Adams ring. I stepped back and told Adam and Emily that there was a good signal and that I would like Emily to check this signal out. After a few brushes of snow were removed her ring came into view. She let out a “mild” scream, high-fives and hugs were shared by all. Emily couldn’t wait to get back to town to show her friends that doubted we would find her ring our results.

Damascus Steel Ring Returned – Boulder, Colorado

We had a warmer than normal Halloween this year so Chris spent the day doing yard work before taking his young daughter out to hand out candy (she is too young for trick-or-treating). While waiting for the neighborhood kids to come around Chris spent some quality time playing with his daughter in the front yard. The following day he noticed that his wedding ring was missing so he and Jess, Chris’ wife spent hours looking for his ring. They turned the house inside out and looked in the planters that he was working in and also looked throughout the yard with no luck. Monday Chris found my listing on the TheRingFinders directory and called me. After a brief discussion we set my search for the following evening.

After my arrival Chris gave me a quick tour of the yard where he had worked, brought out a bag of leaves that he gathered while doing the yard work and showed me the part of the yard he and his daughter had played in. I searched the front yard where he spent time with his daughter and then moved my way to the back yard. I ran my White’s MXT over the bag of leaves and it sounded off. Due to the ring’s material the signal wasn’t a great one, but there was definitely a signal in the bag. I carried the bag over to one of the raised planters and checked it for signal, none were in the planter. I grabbed a large couple handfuls of leaves and placed them into the planter, the signal was in this pile of leaves. As I moved the leaves around with my pinpointer and eventually the Chris’ ring came into sight.

Chris and Jess were quite happy and a bit surprised that I found the ring.

White gold rind recovered from Commerce City park

Patrick was out playing in the local park with his son with a boomerang type toy. Being afraid of losing his ring, Patrick took off his ring and placed it in his son’s hat which was on the ground. As they were bringing their play time to an end, Patrick’s son went to pick up his hat when he noticed it was crawling with ants so he gave his hat a kick. And with that Patrick’s ring went flying and disappeared into the grass. Patrick went to a local metal detector store and rented a detector. After several minutes of searching he had not found his ring and ended up calling me for help. Luckily I was only a couple of minutes away and even though I was running late for a dinner date with friends and my wife I couldn’t resist helping out.

After 15 minutes of searching my CTX gave me a nice ring signal, there sat Patrick’s ring peeking out of the grass. Quickly we gave high-fives and snapped a couple of photos so that I could race home to my diner date.

White gold ring recovered from Denver volleyball court

Nate was running late for his volleyball league game, so when he arrived at the courts he just hopped right in to the action. Within a minute of his joining the game his wedding ring slipped off his figure and landed in the sand of the volleyball court. He didn’t see the ring leave his figure but he noticed it was missing shortly thereafter.

Nate searched for his ring but would not find it as it had quickly sank out of sight in the loss sand. A few days later he found The Ring Finders and my profile, he contacted me and we set a date and time for a search.

I began my search pattern by running over the side of the court that he was on playing on when he lost his ring. I came up with a few targets but no ring. I then searched the opposing side hoping the ring flew to that side, no luck. I then switched machines and started another search pattern perpendicular to my original pattern. Within a couple of passes my MXT sounded off on a signal, I dug the sand out with my scoop. With in a few seconds the Nat’s ring was in my scoop. Nate was pretty darn happy, his wife had given up hope 30 minutes into the search. So she had a wonderful surprise when I dropped Nate off at home.

Nate’s ring is a unique one with wood and meteorite insets in white gold.

White gold ring recovered from Chatfield State Park reservoir, Colorado

Adam and Tiffany were enjoying a hot summer day with their kids at Chatfield State Park in Denver, Colorado. They typically do not go to the typical beaches that are provided but rather prefer the less crowded non-improved beaches further north. Adam is a large guy and has had problems with his ring falling off in the past so when he heard a “plop” and didn’t feel his ring anymore he knew that he had a problem. He was standing in mid-thigh deep water which is just deep enough that he and Tiffany could just reach the bottom of the lake with their hands with their heads above water so they spent several hours trying to feel for the ring.

Tiffany found my contact information on the Ring Finders and we set up a search. The search location was a short hike from a parking lot through a tall grass field then a wooded edge of the lake and then down the beach 100 yards or so. Tiffany sat on the beach watching as Adam and I headed out into the water. Adam was showing my the approximate location he was in when his ring slid off. Several minutes into the search I noticed Tiffany on the phone, she was talking to her brother and discussing what was going on. Her brother was in the process of telling her that Adam’s ring was lost and would never be found when I pulled up a large silver looking ring in my scoop. I just smiled at Tiffany and then to Adam and gave Adam a head nod to come to me. I let him be the person to take the ring out of my scoop. I received a rather big ole bear hug from Adam.

White gold ring recovered from Boyd Lake in Loveland, Colorado

Troy was playing with his two young daughters in the lake at Boy Lake State Park when his ring slipped off his finger. Troy and his wife used the diving mask that their daughters had with them to search for quite a while. They did recover another ring during their attempt to find Troy’s ring, this ring was turned into the ranger station. But their efforts to find Troy’s ring were not successful.

Troy contacted me and we set a date and time to perform a search. Upon arrival and a quick talk about the circumstances that lead to the rings loss, I grabbed my equipment and headed toward the beach. Troy thought he was in waist deep water when his ring was lost, but his daughter (10 years old) remembered being in chest deep water. So my search area was a bit larger than I had hoped for. I took my search out to chin deep on me and started searching into shallower water. Troy was beginning to give up hope when I got a good signal on my CTX in waist deep water and sure enough it was Troy’s ring. We made our way to the beach and that is when I noticed that Troy’s waist is about the same height as his daughters chest.

White gold earring lost in Centennial, Colorado – Returned

Alexis was playing volleyball with her family and friends in her sister’s yard when her earring got caught in the net and flung into the yard. Luckily one of her opponents had seen the earring get launched but did not see exactly where it ended up. The volleyball game halted and the search for the lost earring began but luck was not with them as the earring remained hidden in the long grass. Alexis’ sister, Stephanie, found me through The Ring Finders and contacted me about searching for this precious lost item. We made arrangements for a search on a Thursday evening.

Upon arrival Stephanie explained how the earring was lost and showed me the location that Alexis was in (marked by a couple of tent stakes). I tested the remaining earring on my V3i in several programs before I found a program that would respond to such a small bit of metal. I began my search in the area of the tent stakes and found no earring so I expanded my search area. Within a couple of minutes I received a signal similar to that of my test target. As I parted the grass I could see the shape and color of the lost earring, I looked up at Stephanie and said “I found the match to that earring”. We called up Alexis and let her know that the earring had been found, she was quite happy. About 15 minutes later there was Alexis ready to get her pair of earrings back.
