Lost Wedding Ring In The Ocean Found And Returned – Emerald Isle, NC

Victor called me on a recommendation.  He stated he lost his wedding band of 3 years while enjoying the ocean.  I made plans to hunt before the next low tide (12:15 a.m.) and that was very late so I said there may be a chance it’s on the beach so I began searching just after 10:30.

Victor and his friends and family had gathered above the location and they knew just where Victor’s custom made gold band was lost.

I started my grid search well above the current tide and progressed down to the waves rolling onto the beach.  Just as I my boots were getting wet and the grid lines in the sand were being washed away, I hit a very strong signal.  Being that the ring was large, my detector screen displayed the high end of what a gold ring would signal.  One scoop into the sand and the following wave cleared out the sand.  I peaked inside and saw that beautiful golden circle!  I walked up to the group who had phones and lights running and let the ring roll out of the sand scoop in front of them.  It was a great feeling watching them celebrate the recovery!

Mom was visiting from out of town and lost her ring while playing with her grandson in a High River park. It happened between snows and it disappeared while throwing pine cones.  Watch the video below for the full story,

Gold Wedding Band Lost During Emerald Isle Beach Trip Found Off Beach

David gave Crystal Coast Ring Finders a call just before dark.  He stated he went to the beach and upon returning to his home, noticed his wedding band, he never removes, was gone.  David asked if I wanted to search the following day and I asked if he was near a public access on the beach.  I was worried with the popularity of metal detecting, someone would find the ring before morning.  David said yes it was near a public place so I said I would get there as soon as possible.

Upon arrival, I picked up David and we rode closer to the beach access.  David showed me where he parked his golf cart then grabbed a chair and a cooler and headed to the beach. I noticed there were about 5 vehicles parked.  We arrived at the place where he was sitting and a small group was nearby for a sea turtle hatch about to happen.  Fortunately, David was sitting far enough away I was able to search all around where he was sitting.  Nothing but trash was found during the beach search and I also searched the sand up to the steps leading to the street.  After a very thorough search, we returned to the parking area where it was now very dark and a vehicle was now in the area David’s golf cart was earlier that day.  I turned my headlamp on high beam and started to search around the vehicle.  I was looking for the bright reflection of the light beam on David’s ring.  Finally moving the back of the vehicle, and close to David, I spotted his ring laying in the street edge.  David was very relieved after snatching it up from the road.

I told him earlier, “I hate when I can’t find it!”.

A water ballon fight with grandkids resulted in losing a man’s gold wedding ring. They contacted me the next morning, July 15,2025. I arrived that afternoon and showed them how my detector works, Whites MXT. As I started searching I asked Michael if he would like to use my spare detector and help search. After a very short tutorial Michael joined me in the search of their large yard. 46 minutes later the ring was found! But not by me. My first time to have the victim find his own lost ring!! This was amazing for me and for Michael. It is always so much fun to recover lost jewelry but this one was a rare treat indeed.

Ring lost in the ocean, Lavallette NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

It was early afternoon on a beautiful day at the Jersey Shore when Megan texted me. She had just lost a very precious ring in the ocean and asked if I could help. I explained that it depended on how sure she was of the location and if she could guide me back to the exact spot. Megan said she had seen the ring fall from her finger and drop near her feet in waist-deep water. I instructed her to mark the location as best as possible, using Google Maps to drop a pin, taking photos of the shoreline and the area where the ring was lost, and noting the time of day it happened. She said she’d think it over and get back to me.

A few minutes later, Megan called back, ready to move forward. We arranged to meet at the next low tide, around 9 p.m., as the ocean was forecasted to get rough in the coming days, which would make the search nearly impossible. I met Megan’s mom, Erin, on the beach that night, and we marked the area where the ring had been lost. I started by working along the bottom of the tide line, hoping the ring had washed up, but after several passes, I had no luck. I checked the photos to ensure I was in the right spot—it all matched up.

The waves were rough, with a strong rip tide making it difficult to work below the shell drop. After a while, I took a break to regroup. While I spoke with my wife and Erin, I explained that the conditions were challenging and I wasn’t sure if I could continue searching.

After about half an hour, I returned to the water to observe the wave pattern. As the tide receded, the waves seemed to calm a bit, so I decided to give it another try. Determined to succeed, I got back into the water and focused on the area below the shell drop. Finally, I heard a solid signal—and there it was, Megan’s ring in my scoop.

I let out a yell of success, and Erin was in total shock. She immediately called Megan, shouting, “He found it! I can’t believe it! Get down here!” The excitement was contagious, and everything came together quickly. By then, it was close to 11 p.m., and I was exhausted from battling the surf. We took some photos, hugged, and said our goodbyes.

This recovery was a reminder of why it’s important to choose the right person for the job—someone who isn’t afraid of rough conditions and will do whatever it takes to succeed.

5 star review in Orange Beach- Found!!!

This was one of my all-time favorite returns. Lindsey called Sunday afternoon and explained that she had lost her wedding ring the day before out in the Gulf in Orange Beach. The other problem is that she and her family had already gone home to Louisiana and she didn’t know what to do. I told her not to worry and that I was pretty good at helping people tell me where they had lost their ring. I started asking questions and before long, I was on my way to a condo in Orange Beach.

When I got in the water and checked my landmarks, I decided where to start based on our conversation. Immediately I noticed a man making a beeline for my position. I smiled and waved hello as he got within speaking distance. As soon as he asked me if I was there to help the lady from the day before, I noticed another man and woman headed my way as well. I had no idea just how popular Lindsey and her family had become, but I was about to find out.

The three of them asked several questions and I told them who I was. I then asked if they had been helping look the day before and what had happened. They told me that a lot of people had been combing the area but had no luck. One gentleman told me that I was in the right area but I needed to move forward a bit. I explained that I had decided to start there based on my conversation with Lindsey and I had asked her which way she was facing when she went to catch the football they were throwing. I said that it looked like I was too far away, but I promised them that I would grid search the whole area and invited them to watch.

The same man asked me how successful I was in the water. I told him that I didn’t want to jinx myself but I had a pretty high recovery percentage. I went about two more feet and heard that gold tone in my ears. I told them all that I thought I found it, and they incredulously inched closer. It took several gentle scoops, but finally, I held out the scoop with the beautiful diamond ring in it. One man asked if he could take it out, and I told him yes. He turned and held it up and yelled to the beach, “He Found The Diamond!!!”

As we walked in, the beach went crazy and people came out of the woodwork congratulating me and looking at the ring and explaining that they had been amongst the dozens who helped look for Lindsey’s ring the day before. Somebody suggested that we FaceTime Lindsey and I said that sounded like a great idea. I wish I had a screenshot of my phone because when Lindsey answered, there were upwards of thirty people behind me yelling, “We Found It!!! 😃” and shouting their congratulations. It was too loud to hear Lindsey, but I could see that she was emotional and happy. I held the ring up and told her that it was safe and that I would call her soon.

Wow! I made my way off the beach and had the chance to speak to a very happy Lindsey and sent her a photo of her ring. I ended up meeting her in Mobile today at lunch as she and her family drove over from Louisiana. The best part of this entire recovery is when their daughter insisted on making me a beautiful sign for the recovery photo. As you can see, she gave me five stars and that makes all of the effort worth every ounce of hard work.

I received a call from Taylor last week. Taylor explained that she was on the beach visiting for the day from PA and she believes that she may have dropped her wedding band into the water. I took the short ride over and met up with Taylor and her husband in front of Wildwood convention hall. While walking down towards the beach, Taylor explained that she had removed all three of her rings and placed them in the same pocket with her cell phone. Later on, she had waded out to about calf deep water and pulled her phone out to grab a few pictures. When she pulled out her phone Taylor beleived that one of her rings came out with the phone and dropped into the ocean water. It was just about high tide when I initially met with the couple and I explained that it may be best to wait for low tide to try and recover the ring. Later, the same day, I rode back over and began searching for Taylors ring. I managed to recover her ring a short time later. Taylors ring was shipped back to her the very next day. Another happy and relieved couple!

Received a call from Robert this afternoon. Robert explained that he lost his wedding ring on Grant St beach while playing baseball with his family in Cape May. Robert was fairly certain as to where the ring may have fallen but wasnt 100% sure. Took the short ride over into town and met up with Robert and his family. Roberts ring was back on his finger about 5 minutes after arriving. Another happy family!

TWO LOST GOLD RINGS in CHAPEL HILL, NC…….FOUND!!!!

Received a text from a fellow ring finder asking if I wanted to take a double ring recovery that he wasn’t available to go out on. Of course I said, “SURE!”

I was passed on that they were lost at a wedding venue.

He sent me his number, I texted him, he said he lost them after he put them in his pocket before playing football with some kids. Turned out he had a hole in his pocket and that’s how he lost them. We set up a time when I could be there. I also had to gain permission from the Venue. The Venue said I could come out, but I had to be off the property by noon because they have events scheduled from noon today all the way until Sunday.

I arrived at 10 am, took me about an hour, but I found them both about 7 inches apart!

When we met up, his first words were, “YOU GOT ME OUT OF THE DOGHOUSE!”

Ring recovery I won’t forget- Pensacola Beach

Yesterday afternoon, as I was heading home from work, I got a call from Devon. The week before, I had been away for the holiday and had to turn down several people needing help, so it felt especially good to be available — and to have my gear in the car — when Devon called.

Devon had lost something incredibly meaningful over the weekend: his grandfather’s ring. It had been passed down to him to wear on his wedding day and had been in the family for 55 years. He lost it while throwing a football in the Gulf late at night, and he said one of the hardest things he’s ever done was call his grandfather to tell him it was gone.

Thankfully, a coworker who heard him talking about it at work knew what I do and suggested he give me a call.

We met at the beach, and Devon was clearly anxious as he explained where he’d been in the water. I started making passes with my detector, pulling out some trash at first — each time hoping it might be the ring. I reminded myself that God’s will would be done either way, and I settled in for the hunt.

Eventually, I pushed out deeper into the June Grass — and that’s when I heard it. The unmistakable tone of gold.

I scooped up a mix of shells and sand — and there it was: Devon’s heirloom ring.

He hadn’t seen me find it, so I walked over and joked that I was taking a break because there was just so much random metal out there. I held out the scoop casually and said, “Take a look at the stuff I’m finding.”

Devon leaned in… and then saw it. His expression shifted from worry to absolute joy. He grabbed my hand and pulled me in for a hug.

He called his wife right away with the good news — but the best moment came when he FaceTimed his grandfather. The shock and joy on his face said it all. He said, “I can’t believe it,”!

I was thrilled myself. Moments like this are exactly why I do what I do. I’m incredibly grateful I could help continue the story of this special ring.
