Lost Graduation Ring Recovered in Leesville, Louisiana!

Dakota U. and his family and friends had just arrived at a swim area, and while they were applying sun screen, Dakota lost his gold Texas A&M University graduation ring overboard. “We spent an hour on our hands and knees looking for it,” his wife relayed. What should have been a happy outing had turned into gloom.

After doing all they could, he and his wife got in touch with me. They were distraught and had little hope they would ever see it again. However, they had location coordinates for the swim area and a good set of reference lines. I knew I could help them.

We arranged to meet at the boat launch, where we set out on choppy waters toward our target zone. When we anchored in waist-deep water, I immediately set to work, walking lines and listening for good signals.

After about an hour, we saw a little water snake pop up nearby. To get a closer look at it, I walked toward it, still swinging away and listening. As soon as the snake submerged, I got a big signal from my detector. Our little search party gathered around, and I knelt down and brought up the target. They knew I had got it by the smiles on my face. Next we were all smiling as I opened handful of rocks, revealing his gold ring!

Making smiles and new friends is why I enjoy the art and science of metal detection so much. This is what it is truly all about.

July 25th, 2021: Found and returned an antique ring, Woodbridge, VA

Jonathan was having fun playing Frisbee fetch with his dog in the field behind his home. When he went back into the house, he realized the ring he inherited from his grandfather was missing. He immediately retraced his steps and visually searched the field. Then he obtained a metal detector and searched again, but there was too much EMF interference and too many targets. While researching how to find a ring, Jonathan read an old post on Redit recommending The Ring Finders. He contacted my friend Ray Jones (571-258-7217), but Ray knew he would be delayed, so he asked me to take over.

100×50 area

The next morning I made the 30 minute drive and met Jonathan. We walked the field and he showed me where he was throwing and walking. Jonathan was very helpful in defining the boundaries of activity and explaining how the ring might have come off. I set-up my search grid lines and started sweeping the area. After covering the field where Jonathan was throwing, I expanded to where he had picked-up his dogs waste. I heard the detectors signal saw the lovely ring at the same moment. There it was, sitting on a patch of dead grass. We had both walked over the spot, but never saw the ring. I marked the location and texted Jonathan “I found it!” As we walked over, he and I both remarked how easy it was to see…when you knew where to look!

Lost Cell Phone Found and Returned

  • from Virginia Beach (Virginia, United States)

We get a joy out of returning lost items. Sometimes we just find lost items on the beach and hunt the owners down. This was the case with this cell phone. When I found it it was dead but after charging it opened up and was not locked. I was able to retrieve the number and call and I shipped it back to the owner. Another win!

She was unable to find it after searching the next morning, so she contacted me after seeing a friend’s Facebook post.  Shortly after my arrival to the beach she used her iPhone GPS to find the approximate location.

I then started a grid search of the area, and within a few minutes the Apple watch was found!

Late Friday evening I received a text from Sam asking if I could find a gold chain and cross in the sand that was lost the previous day in Avalon, NJ. She mentioned the cross was very sentimental because it was given to her mother by her father almost 30 years ago and then given to her. Sam took off the necklace because it got tangled in her hair and placed  it on the blanket. After forgetting she had taking it off, the cross and chain went flying across the beach when she shook out her blanket when leaving. I met Sam early Saturday morning to collect some details and started to search. After a thorough grid search of approximately fifty square feet, the necklace and cross were found!

Sentimental Gold Ring Recovered

  • from Virginia Beach (Virginia, United States)

Got a text through the ring finder website about a lost gold band. The couple was on vacation from Ohio and were out in the water yesterday and lost it. After I arrived I was told it was her deceased mother’s gold wedding band which is irreplaceable! I had to find it. The water was very rough and the waves were not being friendly. After recovering a moving can I got a good signal and it was in the right number range. It took about 8 minutes on that one target but persistence paid off! Her mother is smiling tonight too!

Massive Gold Necklace Recovered!

  • from Virginia Beach (Virginia, United States)

Got a call from a fellow Ring Finder that could not respond to this lost necklace request and I contacted the owner and set up a meeting. The owner (Rodney) decided to do a flip at the beach in 4 foot of water! The necklace was lost. Sometimes chains can be difficult to find but not one this BIG! After about 15 minutes I knew I had a good hit. I showed it to Rodney in the Xtreme scoop and he was ecstatic! I found out that the medallion and necklace was given to him by his friend the basketball star Allen Iverson and it was appraised 14 years ago for over $13,000! My most expensive gold find! Over 107 grams of white gold with over 4 carats of diamonds! Video will be on Gigmaster on youtube in about a week.
