Deja Vu All Over Again!!

Many of you know that I have pulled off some epic April Fool’s Pranks on my birthday. This is not one of them, this is a true story!

Joe contacted me 2 weeks ago. He thought that he lost his ring in his yard while raking leaves in the fall. He said that this isn’t the 1st time he has lost his ring. It is the 5th time and I found it for him several years ago. That time he also lost it while doing yard work.

He said he would be home on Friday & I had some free time, so I headed over. The last time I found it within 10 minutes. I noticed that the yard has changed. The back yard has a metal fence, not good. Plus, there is a large garden in the middle of the yard that also has a metal fence around it.

Joe stated that he bought a $150 metal detector. He has been trying to look for it, but the machine is always beeping. So he thought it was time to reach out again.

Joe showed me what he was doing that fateful day. He was raking leaves & dumping them in multiple locations. I started searching in the areas that he thought that he lost it. All of those spots were near the fences. I brought multiple machines and lowered the sensitivity really low, but the fences are just to overpowering to my metal detectors.

I moved to other areas of the yard. I searched out front where he said he piled the leaves for the township. I was hoping that the leaf machine didn’t get his platinum wedding band. After 2.5 hours of searching I had to leave, I had another appointment.

Our schedules wouldn’t line up till 1 week later on April Fool’s Day. After leaving work at 8:30 am and getting my equipment. I called Joe to make sure we were still on. He said that he completely forgot. He had made an 11am appointment to get a newer car. He said that I could come over to look even if he wasn’t there. I told him that I would be there in 20 minutes.

Joe was out back moving some of the tomato cages out of the way in hopes that he lost it in the garden while he was dumping leaves. I did a quick search and I couldn’t get close to the edges because of the fence. It wasn’t in the rest of the garden.

I only had a small area in the back yard that I didn’t finish the last time that I was here. So I detected that. No ring. I got another machine with a 3-inch coil to try to get closer to the fences. No luck. I’m getting frustrated and getting ready to give up. I really wanted to find this ring, AGAIN. Joe would be my 1st repeat customer and 1st successful repeat customer.

I saw a rake in the garden and decided to rake all around the fence at the garden, both inside and out. I did it twice. The second time around I was down to the dirt. I moved some more dirt & leaves and there was a platinum ring right up against the fence.

I took a few pictures and went to the house to show Joe. He couldn’t believe it. He was so excited; his expression was better than the first time that I had found his ring. He asked if he could hug me. We hugged. He said that his wife isn’t going to believe this. I suggested that he puts the ring on a chain or gets a replacement that fits. He said that he would look into it. I also told him that I had a good feeling about finding it today since it is my birthday.

He now has my magnetic business card on his refrigerator for next time. I said it better be for a referral.

If you lose a metal item, call a professional. It takes a lot of time to learn what a metal detector is telling you. Most people think that you can just turn on a metal detector and go. You need to be able to know how to adjust the detector to different types of minerals in the soil and different metals. Save time & money and call your local Ring Finder!!

Bob called me after finding my name in TheRingFinder website. He was attempting to rent or buy a metal detector to find his wife’s diamond wedding ring. His wife, Erin had been enjoying the day at Fisherman’s Cove with her friend. Taking off her rings and placing them in the cup holder of her beach chair while applying sunscreen. Not remembering that the rings were there, she picked up the chair and walked up to the house 100 yards away. That was when she realized what she had done.. Erin and her friend Melissa spent a couple hours sifting through the sand and were able to find one ring.
It was getting dark and the tide was rising. When I arrived. She was pretty sure that it was in the sand or possibly on the footpath to the house.. I took care of the sandy area nearest the water first trying not to hurry as that could cause me to miss the ring.. 15 minutes later I got that white gold tone and scooped up Erin’s beautiful ring.
Bob was elated, he got on the phone to call his wife with the good news. He told me she was so upset about loss that she had to stay home.. The phone call was well taken.. It was a awesome search. Bob called, text me the address, we both arrived at the location at the same time and after a few questions started the search and within a few minutes scooped up the ring.. I love to see  smiles like Bob has in this photo.. Another special moment to share with people I could help find something that means so much to them.

Lost Man’s Gold Ring in Westerville, OH. “FOUND”

  • from Newark (Ohio, United States)
Contact:

I received a call  about a lost ring he lost a year ago in the front yard while during some landscaping. As he was pulling off his glove, there went the ring flying, not to be seen again. The ring has more sentimental valve because his grandmother took her own jewelry to make his grandfather father gold ring which is pictured. The whole family was happy that I was able to find the ring.

Lost Gold & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Queen’s Beach Waikiki…Finally FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

Waikapa Megan & Daniel
Waikapa 3 (1)
On February 10th I got an email from Megan from Melbourne, Australia stating she lost her engagement ring the night before in the surf in knee deep water 2 meters from the Waikiki Wall. This is a favorite Boogie Board spot and the sand is tremendously deep on the side Megan lost her ring. To add to the problem we had a South swell the night before and much sand movement occurred with the waves going way up onto the shore. I met Megan and her fiancee Daniel later that morning and started a grid search. I started in a North South pattern but no luck. I repeated the search in an East West pattern and still no luck. I carefully went through the wave curl but only found a few coins and two pieces of trash metal. I had to tell Megan her ring must be beyond my detectors depth or worst case another detectorist found it the night before. That was a slim chance because of the high tide & surf. I told Megan I’d come back with a friend Mike who is really experienced on the White’s Dual Field Surf PI and it had better depth then what my Excalibur did. Mike tried twice over the next week without any luck. The surf had subsided so I was beginning to think another detectorist got lucky. 29 days later on March 6th I met my buddy Mark at the Natatorium for an AM water hunt. We worked our way towards the Waikiki Wall and I told Mark I was going to run ahead and see if Megan’s ring ended up in the wave curl. When I got to the spot I had to dodge the Boogie Boarders as the surf was up again and they were busting some moves at the wall. After about 3 minutes I got a familiar growl. I dug down into the wave curl…Nothing! Second dig into the wave curl and there in my scoop was Megan’s ring. The sun was high over head and the Diamonds on her ring were glistening in the sunlight. That was a pretty sight! I walked down the beach to where I left Mark and held out my pinkie finger. Look at that! Pretty Ice Ring! Whoa! he said you got it. Amazing no other detectorist found it. I emailed Megan the good news as soon as I got home. To our good fortune her cousin Simone was visiting and staying in Waikiki. I was able to drop off the ring with her so she could hand deliver it back to Megan in Melbourne. That was a relief. I really didn’t want to have to trust the Postal Service. In the pic above Megan had her precious ring sized properly and she knows who to call. Aloha to Megan & Daniel.

Gold Cross Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found.

  • from Redondo Beach (California, United States)

P1000103P1000100

I received a call the evening the day before Easter from a gentleman asking if I would be able to help find a Cross and a ring lost at the beach, for his friend Zara. I told him I would leave right away to meet them.

I met Zara and her friend, and asked them about the loss. They showed me the area they believed the cross was lost, and where they thought the ring was lost. I started my search in the general area with no results. I then widened the search area, asking all the time about where they might have been regarding the area. After about an hour Zara was getting cold, and feeling a bit sick, so she decided to go back to the car. I continued my search, and about 30 feet from where she thought she lost the cross, I got a good signal. I put in my scoop, started shaking it and realized there was something big bouncing around inside. I looked in and saw a very large gold cross, and realized I had found what she had lost. Her friend was waiting nearby, so I walked over to show him that I had just found a pull tab which I put on the little wall, and then immediately put down the cross, which created an intensity of excitement. They went to show Zara, who came back very happy. I continued to look for the ring ever expanding my search area, going way outside the box she had shown me with no results. I could not figure it out until I asked how the ring was made. That was when she told me that it was not a concentric circle ( a very hard ring to find), but wrapped snake like. I went back to the car and got another detector, and also a different coil for the one I was using hoping to get an advantage on the ring. I searched for another hour and a half, with no luck. I decided to come back today with another detector (a PI), to see if I would be able to find the ring, and dug every piece of metal in that area. I spent another 3 hours, found everything but the ring.  It might be that it got lost somewhere other than the spot that I was shown, or it might have been out of the range of my detectors.

I was happy to have made one of the recoveries though, and was able to see the happiness on Zara’s face. For me it was a partial victory, but still some joy to be had.

If you lose your ring or other metal item of value, call as soon as possible. I will work hard to help you find what you thought might never be found again. I search,  Beverly Hills, Hermosa Beach, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, Newport Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Santa Monica, Seal Beach, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Torrance, Venice Beach, and all parks, yards, gardens, and ponds (to 5 foot depths) in all of Orange County, all of Los Angeles County, and Ventura County.

Wedding Ring Lost in Front Yard (found) by John Volek

Wedding Ring lost in front yard (found) by John Volek

I was contacted by Keith today regarding the loss of his wedding ring at his residence in Houston. Keith said, he had been working in the front yard of his home yesterday, cutting the lawn, weeding the front beds and bagging all the debris when he discovered his wedding ring missing.

Keith said after an exhaustive search he was not able to find his missing ring. Keith said a quick search of the internet produced a result

” The Ring Finders” Metal Detecting Service. Keith didn’t hesitate and placed the call. You can see from his smile on his face placing the call was a good decision.

Keith had pointed out the areas in front lawn where he had conducted most of the grass clippings bagging, and the area in the flower bed where he had been pulling weeds. Keith was spot on, and a quick search with the CTX 3030 confirmed his beliefs.

Lost Ring or Jewelry Recovery Service in Emerald Isle Area

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

CHThe overwhelming satisfaction with returning a cherished lost item to someone is something everyone should experience at least once in their life.  For me the thrill of enjoying my hobby, getting a little exercise and helping strangers at the same time is very fulfilling!  Once I find their item, it is as if we were long lost friends as they are so grateful and relieved at the same time.

…for these reasons, I have joined The Ring Finders.

During the Summer of 2012 I was down from Ohio helping my lady friend take care of her terminally ill father.  We would spend time on the beaches of Emerald Isle, NC to destress.  One particular day I was bored just sitting in the sand and noticed a man wading in shallow water with his metal detector.  I immediately knew this was something I would enjoy.  After our talk, I shortly afterwards ordered my first land/water detector.  The Tesoro Sand Shark is a great machine for beach & water but I soon found out a lot of public used land contains numerous metal items and the Sand Shark will make me dig all of them.  Last Summer I purchased one of the best detectors on the market and it works very well on sand and dry land.  Now I have all areas covered to 4 foot of water!  1st CTX ring

Please give me a call as soon as possible anytime of anyday so I can hopefully help you find your lost item!  Why not take a chance that an event that you may remember the rest of your life has a very happy ending?

I look forward to granting your wishes!
