When Jackie called me it was already about 8:00 PM. She had been at the beach, and lost 3 diamond rings to the beach sand. I asked if she could wait, even though it might take a while for me to get there, telling her that if the rings were there I would find them. I needed her to be able to show me the area of the loss. She said they could, and would be there when I arrived. I was on my way.

I got to the beach, and access to the beach where Jackie and her family was closed, so she sent me a car to pick me up and take me to where they had been during the day. When I got there it was nice to see how everyone had waited for her. They took me out to where they believed the loss occurred, and I could see where they had searched quite a large area. I knew I needed to narrow down the search a bit, so I asked Jackie where she had been most of the time, and started just outside of that area, working my way in. Jackie stood where thought she had been, and remained there as I searched. I found a few of the normal trash metal that is usually on the beach, pass after pass, and then right in front of Jackie I got a real nice signal. I put the scoop in and out came her engagement ring, one down. I worked in that area a couple swings more, and scooped up another ring, two down. A couple more swings, and Jackie was holding all of the rings she lost. Needless to say she was very happy, and it was an end to a great day!

I received a call from Jon asking if I could help find his Gold wedding ring that he lost at Oceanside harbor while in the water. I checked the tide charts and told him I had a good chance of finding it at 12:00am during a minus low tide and would go start the search tonight.

I arrived at the scene of the lost ring,then began doing a grid search back and fourth along the Surfline for nearly an hour then suddenly I received a very familiar  signal on my water proof Metal detector…So, I took a couple scoops into the wet sand before the waves came in,,That’s when magically his Gold wedding appeared!  I knew it was his as it is stamped 11/29/08 when he got married I then headed home with a very successful & recovery of a lost Gold wedding ring story to share.

Lost Ring in New Castle, PA…Found!

Seth called me and told me that his wife, Keona, had lost the engagement ring from her wedding set while in their barn feeding their horses. He said he tried finding it with a metal detector, but hadn’t had any luck and wondered if I would take a look. They were two and a half hours away from us, but Julie and I like to travel and visit state parks, and they happened to live near one, so I said we would give it a try. When we got there, I was able to use Keona’s wedding band to dial in my Minelab to match the missing ring. I did a grid search of the barn floor and in about 15 minutes, I found the ring. Seth seemed both surprised and relieved and we talked about how the lower-end metal detectors he had borrowed to search for the ring aren’t able to single out specific signals, so it was nothing he was doing wrong. The floor of the barn is dirt and the detectors he borrowed were picking up all kinds of signals, but the Minelab was able to zero in on the ones that mattered. 

Keona was beyond happy to get her ring back! No matter how many times I see someone get emotional when we find their ring, it’s always a special moment to witness. Seth was great and gave us directions to the state park that would take us through the town of Volant, Pa., which had a pumpkin fest going on. I thought the ringfind went pretty fast, but Julie and I weren’t in the car even 10 minutes when I got a text from Seth that was a screenshot of a post Keona had shared on social media. It was by far one of the fastest and nicest unsolicited testimonials that I have ever received:

“Soooo over a week ago, I did a bad thing. The baby was sick so I went directly from work to the barn to let in and feed the horses so everything would be done and I could go home and just take care of my sick baby. Lost ring found in backyard Chestermere

I received a call one day from a lady in a panic.  She had lost her Wedding ring in the backyard while playing with her child. She had looked all over for hours but couldn’t find it.  I took a trip to the next town and met her and she gave me an idea of where she thought she lost it.  I searched for about an hour and found a bit of junk, nails, etc then boom found her ring. I went inside to show her what I had found and she was extremely happy that I was able to locate it.

Lost Wedding ring found and returned Calgary

Adam gave me a call yesterday telling me that last winter while walking down the back alley by his work he slipped and fell and when brushing himself off he lost his wedding ring. He tried finding it but no luck. Rented a detector in the summer and still no luck. I’m pleased to say that after about 45 minutes I found his ring and returned it to him.

Let me explain.

 

Because those of us who are members of THE RING FINDERS are naturally inclined to keep our eyes wide open and our detectors moving swiftly, we occasionally stumble upon missing items that people lose even before the connection is made with that potential client. We may be metal detecting on the beach or in a park and lo and behold, we find a piece of jewelry that had been recently dropped by someone who was walking their dog or playing a sport on the field. Because we recognize just how much these items mean to those who lose them, we care enough to go to whatever means possible to return the keepsake to the rightful owner.

 

This very situation happened to me just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. While I was dining in a pizza restaurant in Montgomery Village, Maryland, I stopped in the restroom just prior to me leaving the place. I happened to look down and see a lovely gold heart pendant with a CZ diamond in the center. It was resting on the floor next to the right side of the toilet. I thought it was quite odd that a lady’s pendant ended up on the floor in the men’s room. I logically concluded that the owner of the pendant was most likely a female employee at the restaurant because under normal circumstances a woman would not be using the men’s room. I thought, ‘Perhaps a female worker came inside to scour the place and she accidentally broke her chain in the process, causing the pendant to separate and fall to the floor’.

 

I took a paper towel and carefully picked up the pendant. Then, I took another piece of paper, placed it in the sink and rested the pendant over the paper towel to carefully wash it clean. Finally, I dried it off before eventually placing the heart inside my pocket.

 

As soon as I came out of the restroom, I made my way towards the front and immediately grabbed the attention of one of the restaurant’s long time servers, a 10-year employee named Yasmina. I asked her if she could check with the management team to see if anybody lost a piece of jewelry sometime that day. The moment that I made that request, her face lit up as if something wonderful had just happened to her! She excitedly responded by asking me, “Did you happen to find a heart pendant with a stone in the middle?!” I surprisingly replied, “Yes, how did you know about the missing pendant?! Did a customer mention that they lost it recently?” Yasmina answered, “No! I’m the one that lost the pendant a couple days back! I don’t believe this! I’ve been looking all over for it and I have been devastated that it fell off of my chain! I thought it was lost forever! I’m certain that this must be the pendant!” As she shared her account, she showed me a chain that was well secured around her neck where the pendant was once fastened to.

 

I carefully reached into my pocket and pulled out the piece of jewelry and showed it to Yasmina who happened to be one of my favorite servers. Her eyes widened even more as she exclaimed, “You found it! You found it! You found my missing pendant! I can’t thank you enough! This is wonderful!”

 

Apparently, this yellow 14 karat gold heart with the lovely stone in the center was given as a wedding gift to Yasmina 12 years earlier by her aunt. She was completely horrified that she had lost the pendant because it meant so much to her.

 

The restaurant server first noticed that the pendant was gone when she had arrived home from work two days prior (Friday night). The chain that held the pendant was broken but had still been dangling around Yasmina’s neck. She frantically looked everywhere around the house and in the car, but to no avail. That’s when she returned to work the next day and looked everywhere in the restaurant but she still couldn’t find it. It was at that point that she realized that it was most likely gone forever. Yasmina felt very depressed knowing how much this gift meant to her (representing her wedding day and how much she loved her aunt who gave the sentimental keepsake).

 

When I asked the pizza restaurant employee to guess where I found the missing piece of jewelry, Yasmina immediately guessed that it was found in the restroom! Just as my suspicions proved to be correct, she had been cleaning the bathroom that Friday night and somehow the chain broke loose, and as a result, the pendant fell to the floor! Although she went looking everywhere for the lost item, even searching in the bathrooms, her eyes just didn’t zero in on it!

 

We both couldn’t believe that it had been on the floor for more than 48 hours and nobody had picked it up in all that time! I was so happy to have found the piece of jewelry and the rightful owner! This recovery meant quite a bit to me because the pendant happened to be owned by one of my favorite servers! Yasmina kept thanking me over and over again and I was overjoyed with happiness, knowing that I could return something as precious as this back into her life!

 

The ironic part of this whole story is that I had been working on a ring search recovery story while I was eating my dinner that night in the restaurant. Yasmina inquired about what I was doing and I shared more about THE RING FINDERS and how special it is to help people find their lost possessions! Little did we know that 30 minutes later, right there in her workplace, I would end up recovering Yasmina’s very own beautiful gold heart pendant that she had earlier concluded that it was gone forever! With much happiness, this ring finder proved her sad conclusions to be wrong!

Lost ring at Ocean Beach dog beach found

Bryan just went down to the water to rinse sand off his hands. He returned to where has was camped in the dry sand and when he shook the remaining water off his hands his precious gold ring he got in Dubai flew off into the sand too. He sifted around with his fingers for a while without success. I got the call and told him I’d be right down. After battling the traffic to get there, I arrived just before sunset and walked out to  the search area where Bryan waved me over to where he was. He moved his blanket out of the way, 10 seconds and two swings later, I get a solid 17 signal on my Equinox just out of the area he had searched with his fingers. I asked if he would like to pick up his ring, or, would he like me to do it. I took one scoop and held it up for him to grab. He took a photo of it in the scoop, pulled it out, and put it back on his finger.  A happy Bryan can now head home. A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward.

3 lost rings at Imperial Beach found.

Karen contacted me saying that she had lost three rings the day before, in “mostly” ankle deep water at around low tide, while playing around with a football. We agreed to meet an hour and a half before low tide today to conduct a search. She met me along with her son and they described to me the search area. My jaw almost dropped when I found out it was about the size of two football fields of water and wet sand. Even on land, that size of area can take a while. In the water that time gets multiplied many fold. We discussed the most likely area and I started at one end of that spot and headed north toward the center of the search area running a grid from wet sand into knee deep surf while she and her son wandered around the beach using their recently purchased metal detector (not one suited for salt water searching). An hour and 15 minutes later with only two junk targets total, I was starting to run out of low tide. I had covered less than 1/4 of the area, so, I figured I’d start a cross grid and run parallel to the shore. I started out in knee deep surf and work my way toward shore, covering the entire length of the search area (a city block long). After a couple of passes, Karen said she had to head home and fix dinner. I said I would continue on and call her if I had any news. I was beginning to think I’d have to come back the next day with some help to cover the area before the worsening tides would make it more difficult. Not knowing if the rings all came off at one time was another question I mulled over. They could be all together, or, 100 yards apart from each other if they fell off one at a time. Another pass and a half and I got a nice solid 11 on my Equinox and one shallow scoop later I had the previously described gold band in my scoop. A foot away and the wedding band guard came to light. Another foot away and the engagement ring practically jumped up into the light when I passed the coil over it and the sand washed right off the top of  the ring leaving it shining in the late afternoon sun. I took a look at where I was, and if I had initially gone south from my starting point, instead of north, I would have found the rings on the first pass! Ah well, decisions have their consequences! A quick call later telling Karen to “about face” and head back down to the beach because I found them, resulted in squeals of delight and disbelief that the rings were found. A happy Karen donned her rings and revealed to others on the beach the “miracle” of getting her rings back. Even though it never gets old, it’s just another day in the life of a Ring Finder. Lost Wedding ring playing with dog in Strathroy Backyard

A young gentleman out of Strathroy contacted me regarding his lost wedding ring. He was outside in his backyard playing with his puppy when he soon realized he was missing his ring. After some time of searching in endless dismay, he decided to contact me on the ring finders site. I showed up the next day, and within 20 minutes he had his ring back on his finger!! Well sometimes you find the ring quickly and other times it could take days. My last search was for a ring that was thrown out of anger and I spent 4 days and a total of 21 hours and no luck! I hate that result because it should be there? I believe I did my best but sometimes you just can’t find them for whatever unknown reason may be a squirrel, maybe a bird, maybe superhuman strength, and the ring went onto the road. Just to let you guys know I don’t always find everything I’m looking for, but I don’t give up easily.

Yesterday I got a phone call from a young man he said his friend lost his gold ring over his balcony down a bit of a ravine and no one could find it. He gave me the information and some details, then he connected me with his friend, the young man told me it was a custom-made gold ring with diamonds that he had for a very short time. I can sense his urgency and even though it was 5 PM rush-hour I jumped into my car and drove an hour and 30 minutes to Mission where he lived to help him find his lost ring.

When I arrived I met Terry and we discussed the search, I could see where he and his friends were searching with a metal detector but had no luck, it was just starting to get dark so I turned on my headlights and off to work I went. Strangely the search area was very similar to the last search that took me four days with no luck, uneven surfaces and lots of Ivy makes it extremely difficult.

After approximately 40 minutes and moving some logs and branches I received a very good signal and to my delight, I caught a glimpse of his beautiful custom gold ring! I was extremely excited and started packing up and climbing up the ravine, when I got to the top where I was putting down my equipment Terry drove up to the driveway, I didn’t know he had already gone and came back. When he got close I told him I needed to go get some more equipment because of the harsh terrain, then I held up the ring in front of him. I have the best job in the world I get to make people smile!

Terry was very happy and he was very kind with a generous reward for helping him find his recently made custom gold ring. Thank you, Terry, It was an honor to find that beautiful ring for you, and thank you for trusting me to search for it.
