Engagement ring found in Rockford, Michigan.

  • from Holland (Michigan, United States)

Gregg Larabel got a call for a lost ring and since he was unavailable he gave it to me.  Chelsie had been working in her parents’ yard on Mother’s Day when she lost the ring, which she described as a silver metal heirloom handed down thru fiance Dylan’s family.  She and Dylan met me at the house today to show me what she had been doing and where on the property.  Chelsie was pretty sure about the specific area, but checking that area didn’t get me any silver signals from my metal detector.  We checked other parts of the lawn and finally came back to the original spot so I could check ALL the signals there.  When I got a tin foil signal, which is close to that of gold, I called Dylan over.  He bent down and parted the grass and there was her ring.  Turns out the ring is white gold instead of silver.  Chelsie shed a tear or two and our day just got a little brighter.  These moments never get old.

Class ring found!

  • from Eau Claire (Wisconsin, United States)

While searching an old volleyball site, I recovered a large gold college class ring.  From the date and a partial name engraved on the inside, I was able, with the help of the university, to identify and locate the owner.  On the telephone, the owner’s wife recalled her husband losing the ring playing volleyball 24 years earlier!  Needless to say, he was as surprised as he was happy to get the ring back.

***  I received a call from Natalie in Long Beach, CA. She had lost her wedding ring in the backyard while pulling weeds. She had put the gold w/ diamonds ring in her back pocket. When she returned to the house the ring was not in her pocket.

I was able to meet her a few hours later. Natalie showed me the small backyard explaining that she had also had her cellphone in the same pocket as her wedding ring. Evidently the ring came out of her pocket when the she used the cellphone. This is not the first time I’ve heard this same story. It happens quite often because these cellphones have a lip that can drag loose items out of a pocket.

I started by checking the pile of weeds that had been pulled. Then I began the grid search of the 40’x 40’ lawn. It is an older piece of property with a lot of pieces of metal trash in the lawn. I usually search in all metal mode setting with my metal detector. This being a small yard I discriminated out the ferrous metals.

Halfway through the yard I had two similar signals very close to each other. One was a pull tab and the other was Natalie’s beautiful gold diamond wedding ring. It was another successful ring recovery. Natalie was very happy and relieved that she didn’t have to lose sleep worrying about if she could find her ring.

Yesterday late afternoon, I received a call from a young lady by the name of Virginia, she told me that she had lost her diamond ring that was a gift handed down from her great great grandmother. She went on to tell me that she rode her bike to the park to enjoy her lunch break, that’s where she lost her ring. Virginia told me she would be off work at 5:30 pm and would meet me at the park at 5:45 pm, I got there early to ensure I could find parking as it’s right beside a popular beach.  I met Virginia at 5:45 pm and she went on to tell me the story of how she lost her ring, she had taken it off to apply suntan lotion to her self and place it on the towel that she was sitting on. You can imagine what happens next, it’s a very common thing for people to forget, stand up, and lift up the towel. She did not realize she had lost her ring until she got back to work a few hours later. She went back to search the area but cannot find it in the long grass and daisies not to mentioned that it’s very hard to locate the exact spot where she had the lunch.

She had taken some photos during lunch and showed it to me, we could tell there was daisies in front of her towel so I started my search and within 30 minutes I located her beautiful diamond ring that was buried beneath the grass. When people are not exactly sure where they may have lost the ring but having good idea it just takes time to slowly grid search and find it, because we know it is there somewhere.

High School Class Ring Lost in Chattanooga TN for 16 Years…Found

High School Ring Lost for 16 Years, Found!

I had a guy to contact me several months ago about a high school class ring he had lost in 2005.  He had since moved out of state up to Pennsylvania.  This weekend being Mother’s day he was in town visiting family and had obtained permission from the current homeowners to do a search in the yard.  So this has been several months in the making.  He thought it was white gold, but wasn’t certain.  I wasn’t sure what kind of signal I would get on my CTX, and I knew it would be several inches deep, so I was doomed to dig just about everything.  I started up towards the house and worked my way down to the street, drawing my grid lines.  I had been there about three hours and had dug a bag full of trash and modern coins.  It’s slow going when you have to dig nearly everything.  We had only about five feet of yard left before we got to the street when I got a signal that at first looked like trash.  The CTX didn’t give me a VDI number, (I think there was trash very nearby), but I did have a consistent tone and a small tight target identification picture on the screen.  Since it was consistent I dug it and out popped a ring that had been in the ground for 16 years.  It was 3-4 inches deep, a little deeper than I thought it might be.  Another happy ring owner!

Lost Gold Wedding Band Recovered In Pasadena, Maryland!

  • from Baltimore (Maryland, United States)
Contact:

It’s been a while since I’ve been contacted by someone in distress after losing something precious to them. That changed on Friday, May 7th when I received a call from Tim. He was out digging a trench to run electric to his shed when he realized his wedding band was missing. Here is how things went down in Tim’s own words.

“It was a Friday evening when I realized I lost my wedding band while digging a trench in my backyard earlier in the day.  My first thought was to rush out and buy a metal detector.  I did some quick research and realized  I had no experience. I would be lucky to find anything. After doing some more internet searches, I found Ring Finders.  At 9 o’clock at night I sent a text to Jim Wagner.  Little did I know he was close by.  He answered me right away and committed to showing up at my house at 7:30 the next morning.  He told me that if the ring was outside, he would find it.  True to his word, Jim was at my house at 7:30 with a smile and full of understanding. He started at one end of the trench and worked toward the other end while I nervously watched. He found my ring within 15 minutes.  Jim is a talented individual and it was a pleasure meeting him. I can’t thank him enough.”

Kirby sent me a text regarding the loss of her gold heirloom signet ring she believed she lost in her backyard. The ring had belonged to her Grandfather, so it had significant sentimental value for her. We arranged a time when we would both be available for me to come and do the search, and on that day I was on my way.

When I arrived Kirby met me, showed me the backyard, and where she thought she had lost her ring. When I saw her grass I could see how a ring could get lost in it. It was incredibly plush. Each blade of the grass had to be 5 inches in length straight up from the ground like a mini jungle over the whole back yard. I went over the area she pointed out to me only finding a dime that had been there for a while. I then expanded my search out until I completely searched the whole yard, only finding a nickel, and an old cookie cutter. Not willing to be beaten I did a cross grid of the yard, but did not find the ring. We talked a bit more about the day, and what might have happened, and the only thing left was her trash, which she had already gone through, but wisely did not throw out. I went through each item in the bags with my pin pointer until I came upon a crumpled napkin that was surprisingly sounding off. I picked it up, and shook it a bit, and the ring came tumbling out. Even though Kirby had thoroughly searched the trash the ring had evaded her pursuit. She could not believe it when I held up the ring for her, and showed her where it had been. What a wonderful search!

White Gold Wedding Ring Lost in the Sand at Newport Beach…Found and Happily Returned.

Matthew had gone with his family to the beach for a fun day out, when while playing with his children, and a flick of his wrist, his wedding ring was gone into the soft beach sand. He told me he had searched for about 4 hours before his wife found me on The Ring Finders web site, and gave me a call. Being that that particular beach is highly metal detected, I let her know that I was leaving immediately, so as to have the best possibility of a recovery.

I got to the beach quickly, and found the family. Matthew explained and showed me what had happened. He had been on the slope of sand that goes down to the water from where they had their towels when he flicked his wrist. What made it more difficult for his own search was the fact that movement by him and his children in the area of the loss caused more sand to move down the slope and cover the ring deeper in the sand. I worked my way down the slope with no signal, and then began working back up in a grid fashion when near the bottom of the slope I got a good solid signal, dug, and had Matthew’s ring in the scoop. They were very happy to have it back, as this was specially engraved. I looked and noticed that Matthew’s wife had a silicone ring on, and complimented her for her conscientiousness regarding her jewelry. A very happy ending to the day!
