I got the call one afternoon from Mike. His ring had been lost while weeding the garden 6 months earlier. A neighbor turned him onto ringfinders. I searched the area where he thought he lost ring for several hours and found it in the mulch bed. Happy ending!

24 Karat 44 gm Gold nugget found Kendall Miami Florida.

  • from Fort Lauderdale (Florida, United States)

I got a call to find a 24 Karat 44 gm gold nugget.  It was used in a contest  . The contest was to find the gold nugget in any of the 6  .. 1 ton  burlap bags of dirt. Unfortunately the client couldn’t find  the nugget in the 1 ton burlap bag they knew it to be in after no contestants could find it . So I went to the commercial location where the nugget was at and attempted to find it with my metal detector. but the nails in the pallet interfered and also the writing on the bags interfered. So the client had to take it to a different site so we could dump all the dirt out. once we could dump the dirt out it was found very quickly

Engagement Ring Recovered using Hookah Gear near Wautoma, WI

  • from Green Bay (Wisconsin, United States)

Wrinkled fingers, but nice ring!

On August 15th, 2019, Jeff Wettstein received a call regarding a lost engagement ring off the end of a dock in central Wisconsin.    Having just purchased and tested a new hookah arrangement with three 60-foot hoses, we were soon on our way to try recovering the valuable ring.    It was a cold week, but we had multiple layers of neoprene ready to wear.     It’s not wise to dive alone, so we used the buddy system.    My turn was first with Jeff serving as top tender.   I was having so much fun playing with the blue gills, I didn’t realize I was under water for two hours!     After sorting through a lot of junk and weeds, I found the ring and popped to the surface.     We didn’t get a photo of the bride because she was in contact with us by phone, but you can see it was a valuable recovery.   She was quite happy.

Art-carved 14k wedding band recovered from Two Rivers beach

  • from Green Bay (Wisconsin, United States)

Art-carved beauty!

On Sunday, September 28, 2019, I received a call from a young couple who had lost a valuable ring at the bottom of a stairway leading to the beach in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.    Normally, the stairway ended in sand, but Lake Michigan levels had recently risen to historic highs, so the bottom steps were algae-covered and slippery.    The bride slipped and her hand flew up, sending both a diamond engagement ring and her wedding band into the lake.   Luckily, the waves were low and her husband saw the engagement ring and quickly retrieved it.   But, this was the day before, and they finished their trip to Milwaukee and then doubled back the next day and contacted me.   Meanwhile, the waves had started up and were from 12-18 inches high.      Using my Minelab 800, then my AT Pro, I found a few signals, but rocks forced me to feel around with my fingers while waves periodically splashed into my waders.   I persevered, wet and shivering, and felt the ring just as it turned pitch dark.     It was beautiful!   Spontaneous hugs all around!     They didn’t want their picture taken, but did allow one of the ring.   I can see why they were so happy to get it back.  Truly a piece of art!

Key West Wedding Band Recovery

  • from Green Bay (Wisconsin, United States)

Found!

While on a metal detecting vacation to Key West, FL on  December 14th,  Jeff Wettstein, another ringfinder, and I were detecting Smather’s Beach, which is quite long.    I had found one 14k gold wedding band, but only a few coins after that, and it was getting late.   Suddenly a man rushed up to me and asked if we could find his tungsten wedding band that had just slipped off of his finger in about 4 feet of ocean water.   It was almost dark, but I started searching near where he and his friend had been swimming.     After about 30 minutes of intense grid searching, Jeff came along and helped.  He found it in about 5 minutes, and soon it was back on the groom’s finger where it belonged.   Drinks at Sloppy Joe’s followed, of course!

Engagement Ring Lost in Snow & Found!—Mount Pleasant, WI

  • from Menomonee Falls (Wisconsin, United States)

January 17th brought fresh snow! It also brought sadness!

Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin resident, Megan, was clearing the white blanket off her car’s windshield when she felt her engagement ring leave her hand and vanish into the snow. A desperate search ensued by Megan’s fiancé and other family members. Scooping the snow into buckets and using a wheelbarrow, they melted the icy contents with hot water in hopes of revealing the ring, but their valiant efforts failed to bring the precious love token to light. It was as though the snow had swallowed it. Was it gone for good?

In the days to follow, a sick feeling in the pit of Megan’s stomach served as catalyst for scouring the Internet for help. That’s when she discovered The Ring Finder’s Directory of metal-detecting specialists and my contact information.

I received a text from Megan the following Tuesday, January 21st. After a brief telephone call, arrangements were made to perform a search the next evening.

On arrival, I saw evidence where the snow had been removed from the front yard. Since darkness arrives early during the winter months in our part of the world, I employed a professional tactical light attached to my wireless XP Deus Detector. The ground, as expected, was full of metallic debris making it necessary to carefully assess each signal. It was a slow process.

I was almost finished scouring the front yard when a signal reached my ears—one consistent with a gold ring. Brushing the loose snow away revealed solid ice beneath. Whatever was the source of the signal, was encased in the ice. I carefully chipped around the area and pried the frozen disc from the ground so as not to damage the ring if it was there. As it turned out, it was indeed Megan’s precious ring!

It is always cause for celebration when a ring is found and this recovery was no different. Tears, hugs and smiles ensued. It was a happy household once again.

Lost Gold & Silver Wedding Band Kuhio Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Janet who was on her Honeymoon with her husband Brian from Toronto Canada. While enjoying a swim at Kuhio Beach Brian’s Gold & Silver wedding band fell off in waist deep water. A quick look around in the water and of course the sand swallowed the ring from view. Brian took careful notice to where he was in the water and his new bride Janet found the ring finders on a Google search. It was near the end of my work day so I called Janet and we were able to arrange for them to meet me on the beach in about 45 minutes. Thankfully the weather was cold and overcast so other detectorists were no where in sight of this heavily detected Beach. When I arrived Brian & Janet took me down to the beach to set the grid. Brian actually modified the grid 5 yards to the East and it was a good thing he did as on the third leg of the search in thigh deep water I got a nice 11-12 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Brian’s Wedding Band. The Newlyweds erupted into cheer and clapping and the tourists around us joined in. I love these moments. After a few handshakes and hugs Brian & Janet were off to enjoy the rest of their Honeymoon. Aloha to Janet & Brian.
