Lost Diamond Ring…Found Near Burlington, Iowa

I received a call from Pete last month asking if I could help find his fiancé’s lost engagement ring at the bottom of a farm pond. I said maybe if it wasn’t too deep. He said he thought it was between 3 and 4 feet where she lost it. I said I’ll give it a try.

They have a small boat that they use on this pond and while coming to shore she fell out of the back of the boat. She lost her phone, sunglasses, keys and a 3 carat diamond ring!

The items had been in the water about a week when I got the call and arrived. After getting in with my detector and long handled scoop I found that the bottom was mud and at a slant so it made scooping a little difficult.

The first item recovered was her cell phone. I could feel it with my foot so instead of scooping I just pushed it in the scoop with my foot. The second thing found was her sunglasses. The third thing was the ring and I recovered it by leaning over with my pinpointer and pulling it out with my fingers. After that he didn’t care about the keys anymore!

I’ve been waiting on a picture of the happy couple for the book of smiles but it looks like it might not come so I decided to post without it but I thank him for the generous reward.

I received a call about a lost wedding ring in the grass after they had fun watering sliding down the hill.

I was able to come and perform the search the next day. The ring was located and was no longer hidden a short time after starting the search.

He was very happy to have the ring returned to him. He is pictured with his friend.

I received an email from Erin about searching for her lost wedding ring in her backyard. It had come off her finger somewhere behind her patio in the backyard.

We made arrangements for me to come to her house after work. Her husband showed me the area.

I got my equipment together and found it in about 10 minutes. I wish they were all that easy!

Man’s 10K White Gold Wedding Band lost in Myrtle Beach SC, Found and Returned

This ring recovery started after a morning recovery, and a leisurely afternoon of walking the beach swinging my metal detector. Shortly after I got home and changed clothes, I received a call from a number that showed Toronto, Ontario Canada so I was sure it was a lost ring call. When I answered, Andrew asked if it was possible to find a ring that was lost the day before in the dry sand. I assured him we had a great chance of finding it, got the details and address of the resort, and was on my way. The Myrtle Beach area is Matt Fry’s area, but I knew he wasn’t available so I took the call. I know he’s going to be upset, not that I took the call, but because it was an easy recovery, which most of his calls lately have been in waist or deeper water at low tide. Thanks Matt!

I called Andrew when I pulled into the parking lot telling him I was there, he said he’d be right down. He and his wife Kristin were on the beach in minutes and showed me an area that was maybe, 10 ft X 15 ft. I had asked him what type of metal the ring was made of and he wasn’t sure whether it was Silver or White Gold. This really wasn’t a problem because I had the Equinox 800 and I knew if the ring was Silver, the machine would give me mid 20 numbers. If the ring was White Gold, I’d get low to mid teen numbers. The mid teen numbers are also nickels, pull tabs, and bottle caps so I had to dig everything close to the 11-13 number I was looking for. The story was that Andrew had taken his ring off and put it on a boogey board that was sitting next to them in the dry sand. Shortly afterwards, someone picked up the board and the ring took flight. I started my east/west grid working my way south and finding plenty of bottle caps but no ring. I did about 6 or 7 grid lines and was running out of real estate so I turned around and went back to my first line and took a step to the north of that line. Boom! Three steps on that grid line and I got a solid 12 on the detector. I was positive I had his “White Gold” ring. Dug a scoop, shook the sand, and Bingo! As I let him get his ring out of the scoop, I said, “You’re ring’s not Silver.” He identified his ring, looked at the stamp inside the ring and said, “It does say 10K.” Irrelevant of what it is or isn’t, it’s definitely his ring and back on his finger where it belongs. Another happy ending with big thank yous from both Andrew and Kristin.

Man’s 14K White Gold Wedding Band Lost on Holden Beach NC, Found and Returned

My morning started off with a phone call from Matt asking for help in finding his Wedding band. He said that he had lost it yesterday after he put his ring in a chair cup holder, forgot about it, and later picked the chair up slinging the ring into the dry sand. These are the type of calls you dream about, lost in the dry sand, behind a rental house on a beach that doesn’t get hunted much, if any. I knew this was going to be a quick and easy search, and what made it better was Matt said he had marked the 10 ft X 10 ft area. I got the address and started on the 50 minute drive.

When I arrived, Matt was waiting for me on the front steps. He walked me through the house, introducing me to his wife, Cari, other family members, and then out to the beach. He pointed out the area he had marked and I started an east/west grid. On my third pass, I hit it. My Equinox 800 gave me a solid 16 on the screen, I took one small scoop, shook out the sand, and there it was. I grabbed the ring out of the scoop and held it up in Matt’s direction, his expression was priceless. I got a huge bear hug as I handed him his ring back. Cari had been standing up on the deck of the house and saw me hold the ring up and came walking out to the beach. Both were overjoyed and is exactly the reason I do this. Total search time was less than 5 minutes.

I asked Matt how he found me and he said he was trying to find someplace to rent a metal detector and called Joe Denton, the Minelab Detector distributor in Myrtle Beach, who at one time rented machines. Joe and I are friends, so Joe gave Matt my information and that’s how I got the call. Thanks Joe!!!

Lost Silver Ring At Jericho Beach…Found!

My wife and I gave a ride to a friend from work few weeks ago and we talked about TheRingFinders and how we help people find there lost jewellery…Flash back a couple of weeks and my wife meets Liz at a concert and they start talking and Beverly mentions TheRingFindersw and her friends expression tells her that she’s going to hear a story of a lost ring and so we begin!

The story was that she gave her boyfriend a nice silver ring 3 months ago and how he lost it a few days ago. They searched for hours but couldn’t find the ring and her boyfriend felt naked without his ring. We made a date to search for the ring and we picked Liz up and she showed us the area the ring was lost in, long grass and hard to find without a detector. It was a another sunny day in San Diego when I received a call asking for help from a lady in Mission beach who had lost her wedding rings.She said they had sifted through the sand and managed to find the band but not the main diamond ring.
I was just getting home from another lost ring search but immediately made a U-Turn and said I was on my way.

Upon arriving to the scene of the lost rings
I was shown a small 10X10 foot area where it disappeared into the sand.X-Marks the spot.I told her this wouldn’t take very long to find,Then could see the worries from her facial expression disappearing as well. I also had to park in a 15min loading Zone so a speedy recovery was Keene. I began a search with my state of the art Metal Detector and found the precious ring in just 1 beep..or a minute!

I surprised her with it in my sand scoop shovel while the tears with hugs electrified all around. These are the best kinda rewards when you feel like a hero or at least did a professional deed to help someone in need.

Bracelet recovered on Manasquan Beach by Dennis Burlingame

Got a call from Chuck asking if I could help find a bracelet his friend Sandy lost on the beach. They were out on the beach and she noticed her bracelet was missing. She wasn’t sure when it came off but they marked off the area they were sitting and hoped it was there, if not it could of been on the path they walked. She had it 20 years and was really hoping on getting it back. Turned out the clasp broke. I started to work the area they were sitting and on the 3rd pass back and forth I found her bracelet. Chuck had walked back up to the house while I detected not knowing how long it was going to take, he made it up to the house when I called to tell him I found it. He couldn’t believe how quick it took. I met him at the house and talked till Sandy came by to get her bracelet. She was so grateful and happy she got her bracelet back. The smile on her face said it all. Another happy ending and great recovery.

Lost Gold Pendent Found in North Vancouver…

I got a call from a young man who lost a gold pendent, he told me that it was given to him by his father who was a fireman for 25 years and wore this pendent in over a 1000 calls. It was a gold firefighters helmet with the truck number inscribed on the front of the helmet and two dates on the underside. His father gave him the pendent when he retired and his son started in the same Fire Department and truck the day his father retired.

Needless to say it was very important to find this pendent and continue the story so one day his son could have it and know the history of these two great men that put their lives on the line to help others. So we discuss the search area and i start to detect and I’m getting nails and not much else. he shows me that he made a sifter and was checking for the ring but gave up. He dumped the sifter and guess what…It was in the dirt from the sifter! It’s funny where these irreplaceable items show up!

…. Max and Paula had driven to Newport Beach and found a place to walk on the beach on the Balboa Penesula. After walking down the beach Max decided to take a quick swim in the ocean. He took off his sunglasses and platinum wedding ring putting them in his baseball cap then set the hat on the sand. 

After returning to dry off he picked up his hat and the ring went directly into the sand. He knew right away what had happened but after an hour of searching with his hands he went to the internet for help. He contacted me through TheRingFinders website. I was two miles away with my equipment and was able to meet Max and Paula on the beach right away.

I started up my metal detector, took a couple practice swings then started a short 10 ft. square search grid. Two pieces of metal trash followed by a positive non ferrous metal reading. It had to be Max’s platinum ring. I was so positive that I let Max reach down to retrieve the ring. It still took him about four grabs with his fingers to get it but he was overjoyed to have his ring that he has worn everyday for more than twenty years. 

It was a special search and I was happy to be available to get to their location in a timely matter. Thanks to internet, cellphones and TheRingFinders.com.
