I got a call from Nuna, she had been running on the beach, when a great dane dog came running full speed at her and collided with her knocking her down. When she got up she realized that the collision was so extreme, her earring was dislodged from her ear and lost somewhere in the sand. This earring was part of a set, that was originally her mother’s who had passed away a few years prior, so the recovery of this piece of jewelry was  very important to her. I left right away.

We met up at the beach after I arrived, and walked over to spot of the loss. The lifeguards had raked the area over real well, as the sand was smoothed out over a 30 by 30 foot patch of sand. I began my search, and began finding some odds and ends like bottle caps and foil, but no earring. I just continued my grid making sure I covered every inch of the area. I showed Nuna the items I had found, and continued the search. Then as she was coming back from talking with one of the lifeguards, I got a good gold sound in the headphones, scooped, and had her earring. I pulled it out of the scoop and held it up so she could see it, and she came over in disbelief. She thought as many do, that her sentimental item was lost forever, but we as members of The Ring Finders are here to do our best to make sure that isn’t the case. So glad to have made Nuna’s day, and give her reason to smile; GREAT DAY!

Bryan contacted me the other day regarding the loss of a pendant he wore around his neck. He had been playing football in the sand at the beach, when as a result of an attempted tackle, the necklace that held the pendant came apart, and the pendant was engulfed by the sand. He told me that it had high sentimental value, and it would mean a lot to him if I was able to find it. I let him know that I was on my way, and would let him know when I arrived.

When I got to the area, I began walking out on the sand, and Bryan met me and walked me over to the spot of the loss. I could see where he and his friends had been combing the sand with their hands and feet. We talked about what had happened, and how it happened, so that I had a good idea of where I should begin my search. I also asked what I was looking for, and Bryan said, “a silver bullet”. I began a grid, and worked it to the outer edge of where they had been searching. I did not find the “bullet”, so I began searching the other side when I got a strong signal and dug. In the scoop was a key, and as I usually do I held it up for Bryan to see, and let him know it was just a key. I was getting ready to put into my finds bag when he came up and said, “wait, that key was also on the necklace”. I then ran the detector over the spot again with another good signal coming through. I scooped again, and in the scoop was a cylindrical shaped pendant, but not a bullet. When I pulled it out Bryan got so very emotional and said, “You have no idea what this means to me”, so I asked if he would let me know. He told me his father had passed away a couple of years ago, and this cylinder held a portion of his ashes. At this point I realized how important this recovery was to Bryan. He was so relieved, and I was very happy to have been able to help; a great day!

I woke up to a voicemail. A gentleman (let’s call him Stan) left a message about a lost ring. We played a little phone tag, after a few calls we were able to speak. He said he was tossing a football with his son yesterday and he saw his ring fly off of his hand. He was unable to locate it. The reason he called was to rent a metal detector. I told him that I don’t rent my machines. I told him that I provide a service and would look for his ring. He stated that this was too good to be true. I told him to visit my website so he can see that it wasn’t a scam.

I arrived at a freshly raked yard. Stan was outside waiting with several children. I asked him to walk me through what happened. He tossed a football and watched his ring fly. It was a yellow gold ring with kangaroos on it.

I started in the pile of leaves. 30 seconds in a get a good signal. move the leaves to find a piece of junk metal. The ring was not at the curb.

I moved to the grass. Stan has a sprinkler system installed. It shouldn’t be a problem. The first target is a dime signal. The second signal is a zink penny signal. The third signal is the sound and number that I was looking for. I separate the blades of grass and see a gold ring pushed down into the dirt. It looks like it was stepped on. I pulled out the ring and showed it to Stan.

He said OMG, I thought that I would never see that ring again! I got a Bro Hug! He was so happy. The ring was bought many years ago in Australia. The kids were amazed and so happy that the ring was found and returned. Smiles all around!

I found the ring in less than 10 minutes. It took me longer to drive to Stan’s then it did to make the recovery. Stan told his son that he has to take the ring off when they play catch.

Lost Gold Class Ring Found In Rochester Hills Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

A Class Act Reunion!

This pictured gentleman was assisting a tree trimming crew in his yard and while moving limbs and what not his size 10 14k class ring slipped off yesterday. Overnight there was an inch or so of snow as well. I knew from past searches this chunky ring would be reading in the high 50’s to low 60’s on my MXT meter. Chatting a bit he mentioned he was in the planning stages for a 45th year class reunion, making this search and recovery very special. Not remembering where he was in the yard but a general area I started to run a grid pattern right down the middle of the yard. I actually liked the snow since I could see my footprints where I was walking helping me get a better grid search! This is the only time you will see me say I enjoy SNOW! After just a few minutes and some random junk and iron signals I got a +60 zinc penny 0 depth signal blaring thru my headphones. Pinpointing the spot and brushing the snow aside revealed this beautiful gold ring shining up at me! As you can see he was super thrilled that his class ring was found and he will be able to truly have a class act reunion!

Lost Gold & Diamonds Ring at Four Seasons Ko Olina Resort Lagoon…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began on October 19th when I got a call from Klaus from British Columbia Canada who was on vacation and staying at the Four Seasons Hotel at the Ko Olina Resort. While taking a swim in the lagoon his Gold & Diamonds ring came off. We met the next morning on the beach and Klaus was fairly certain it was in chest deep water. After a thorough search I didn’t find the ring and we decided it would require scuba to hunt the deeper water. Because of jellyfish and surf I wasn’t able to scuba dive until Friday 2 November. I took the morning off from work as the conditions were ideal but it was going to get bad that evening. I started the dive hunt by laying my bright orange grid line in the sand parallel to shore in about 5 feet of water. I hunt down the line then move it seaward after each pass. This way I don’t miss any area if the water gets silted up. The area was sterile I believe I only found a dime then on the fourth leg in 8 feet of water the tone in my Excalibur was unmistakeable. I fanned the sand and there exposed a beautiful Gold & Diamonds ring. I texted a picture to Klaus when I got ashore and he confirmed that was the ring. In the picture above you can see the smile after the ring arrived in Canada with Klaus. Aloha to Klaus.

Lost Gold Wedding Ring in House .. West Los Angeles, CA. .Found in Time for Wedding

Lauren’s parents had passed down their wedding rings to Lauren to be used for her marriage next week. The unique gold ring that her father had worn for over 35 years was lost three hours after they gave them to her. Lauren had put both rings on her fingers till she could put them in a safe place.

She was at her new home that was in the process of being remodeled when her whole day turned into panic. Her project for the day was to organize some of the boxes stored in the garage. Also, unpack a few of the boxes of items to go into kitchen cupboards. We also had an area of the front yard where she had removed some weeds.

Timing was important because Lauren was able to recall most of the places she had been. We did a quick grid of the front yard where I could use my big metal detector. Then the kitchen area boxes and wrapping where I could use the handheld pinpointer metal detector. Last place was the garage that had 30 or 40 boxes plus the floor area around them. Starting at one side, we opened each box and it was helpful that Lauren could remember the boxes she didn’t open.

The ring showed up in a box of halloween decorations that she had searched without success before calling me. It was great to see how happy she was and the look of relief on her face. We definitely saved many hours of grief if it wasn’t found. It could have been next Halloween till she opened this box again. I was kind of hopeful that the ring would show up inside one of the boxes as this has been the action in past searches that caused rings to slip from fingers.

Lost Gold & Diamonds Wedding Ring Set at Makapuu Beach Park…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a late evening call from Rhonda who told me she just lost her Wedding Ring Set at Makapuu Beach Park. While applying suntan lotions she removed her rings and placed them on her beach chair then forgot they were there. After returning to the beach and checking with the lifeguard she was sure they were gone forever. We decided to meet first light so not to allow another detectorist to find her rings in the dry sand. As we met the next morning in the beach park parking lot the place was packed with studio gear as they were about to shoot a scene for Hawaii FIVE 0. The crew was very nice and allowed us to get to the beach to hunt. It wasn’t 3 minutes after Rhonda showed me the spot where she had been relaxing in the chair that my Equinox had a nice Number 13 tone. It actually took four scoops to get to the target and there in my scoop was Rhonda’s lovely Wedding Set. Much relief and hugs all round. Later that day Rhonda sent me a pic of Steve & Danno walking on the beach. She stuck around to watch the filming. How cool is that? Aloha to Rhonda!

Aki called last night very concerned. Her wedding ring had been lost at her daughter’s school, in the sandy play area. I found out after arriving that her very young daughter had taken her ring with her to school to wear, and while she was in the play area, lost it while swinging her arm. I was close, and let Aki know that I would be there soon, and left.

I got to the school, and met Aki and her daughter. She took me over to the area where the ring had been lost. I then questioned the daughter to find out exactly had happened. She rehearsed what she did, and how the ring was lost, so I began my search. I searched all of the area that I was shown, and went over it a second time to make sure I had not missed anything, but found no ring. I then expanded my search further and further out. I went to the left side and then to the right, but no ring. There was a lot of iron in the ground that was making the search difficult. I expanded out further and did an extra one over to the expanded area. It was getting dark, and I had done the area pretty well until in between the iron I heard the good signal. I scooped up the sand and there in the bottom of the scoop was Aki’s ring. It was too dark for Aki to know I had found the ring, but I reached in and walked it over to her, holding it up so she could see it when it was within eyesight. As soon as she saw the ring she brandished a big smile, but then was overcome with emotion, she was so happy. To give so much happiness and relief to someone is such a pleasure!

Brad called the other day about his lost ring. He, his wife and some friends were at the beach throwing a football around. When it was thrown to him, he reached out to catch it, and the ball hit his hand and his ring went flying. They searched for quite sometime before calling, but I was able to leave right away to get there to perform the search.

When I arrived, I found Brad, and we talked about what had happened. He showed me the area, the way he was standing, and the direction the ball had hit his hand. Looking over the sand I could tell there had been a lot of digging for the ring. I began my search, not hearing any signals (this beach is sifted daily by the county, and very clean), but continued my grid. Finally on my second pass, I got a signal, and in the scoop was Brad’s ring. I reached in and then held it up for him to see, as he came running over with his wife. She looked at me and with a glint in her eye said, “it was a good thing you found the ring, I was getting ready to file an annulment”, and then laughed. I found out they had only been married 2 months, so this loss would have meant a lot to them. So happy to have made their day!

Lost Engagement Ring, Hawks Ridge Neighbourhood NW Edmonton. Alberta (Found)

  • from Edmonton (Alberta, Canada)

Doug called me yesterday afternoon asking if I could help him find his wife’s  engagement ring which he lost while he was walking with his children yesterday morning, while visiting at a friends house, I told Doug I could meet him within the hour.

When I arrive at the location, Doug told me he had walk roughly a Block and a half with his children and his dog. I asked Doug where did he have the ring. He told me it was on his finger for safe keeping, he notice the ring was missing when he got back to the house, you see his wife had entrusted him with her ring while she was attending a tournament in the city,

I asked Doug if he had done anything out of the ordinary while on his walk he told me that he was throwing snow balls at the back of the house, I told him we will start at that location which was a logical place to start when we got on the walkway, Doug said the walkway had been cleared of snow since he was last there.

Doug told me that he had spent a couple of hours walking up and down the walkway looking for the ring with no luck.
After about 20 minute searching the area where Doug was throwing snowballs I found the ring on the other side of the walkway Doug was very happy to have the ring back in his possession.

Thank you Doug for allowing me to locate your wife’s lost ring.
