Lost Platinum Ring Found in Dearborn Michigan

The Mystery of the Mobius Loop Solved!

The Mobius loop or strip as it’s called has many different properties and applications, from mathematics, machinery and recently the shape has been incorporated into jewelry to symbolize infinite and eternal love. The concept of the design is that if you were to travel once around the loop, you’d return to the starting point as a mirror image, making it nearly impossible to define if you were going clockwise or counterclockwise. Little did I know that this was the design of Usher’s ring that went missing while doing yardwork. As I started to search, I definitely felt that I was going in circles, inside some kind of forcefield.  For such a small search area, junk metal signals made my deeper seeking metal detector sound like a machine gun. So, I dialed up the detector’s discrimination a bit and that helped. Scanning the coil of that metal detector thru hedges and picker bushes revealed nothing. So, taking a step back away from this strange vortex I decided to metal detect from farther out and close in on the area using my MXT metal detector with my bigfoot loop, which has supreme shielding capabilities. Closing in on available landscape, I kept getting a mixed signal on the meter, close to platinum but bouncing around. Reaching thru the thick grass was this aluminum piece of junk embedded in the ground. Removing it revealed Usher’s ring squished underneath! Apparently when the ring fell off, somehow Usher stepped on it as well as a piece of aluminum that littered the area of the cleanup. He was shocked in disbelief that his ring was there as he said he looked all over that area. It was then I saw the infinity loop design and with the ring back on his finger, the platinum loop is now back in place to symbolize and encourage Usher and his wife to strive each and every day to be eternally united in love and enjoy infinite happy times together into the future. Included is a schematic of my interpretation of the loop, with directional lines of energy, and as the saying goes……….opposites attract!

Sony called because she had lost her ring at the beach. It was late in the evening, and she said she would not be able to meet me, but her friend would. She told me where the loss occurred, and I made my way there.

When I got to the beach Sony’s friend met me to show me where to look. The area was small.  It took about 3 minutes to find her ring, and hand it to her friend. It was a short and sweet search, that ended well. I am happy to be able to help those in need.

Lost Gold, Diamonds & Sapphires Wedding Band at Royal Hawaiian Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a voicemail from Michael who was back home on the mainland wanting to know if I could detect his wife Erin’s Gold, Diamonds & Sapphires Wedding Ring in the dry sand at Royal Hawaiian Beach.  I was heading to lunch and he gave me Erin’s number to coordinate the search time.  We agreed I would be there around 2PM and Erin would meet me on the beach to show me the area.  My daughter Jodi hooked me up by dropping me off at the Royal Hawaiian Beach Access which brought me to the exact spot Erin was waiting.  Erin showed me where she was digging and it was about a 10 by 15 foot square.  I fired up the “Manticore” did a noise cancel then started the hunt.  First trip around the box no targets.  Second trip solid #3 on the Beast and in one scoop there was Erin’s gorgeous ring in the scoop.  Several tourists on the beach started clapping and congratulating us.  Erin was flying home in about 5 hours so that recovery was a major load off her mind.  Aloha to Erin & Michael!

Lost Platinum & Diamonds Wedding Ring at Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon…FOUND!!!

This ring hunt began when I got a text from Keli asking, “Can you possibly help us? My husband lost his wedding band?” I immediately called and told Keli who was on vacation from Bowie, Maryland, that I would grab my gear and head down as I’m only 10 minutes away from the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  Thankfully,  when I arrived there was a free parking stall.  Keli met me at the Shrimp truck and then took me to meet her husband Jason so he could narrow down the search area.  Jason assured me he was only waist deep when he caught the football which knocked his Platinum & Diamond wedding ring off and he watched it disappear into the murky lagoon.  The first grid we made only yielded some trash & coin targets.  Keli really thought they were more to the west so I extended that direction and no luck still.  Jason and Keli asked if I could do a few more grid lines to the west towards a gentleman on the beach.  I was on what was going to be the final leg when “BOOM” nice 37-54 target on the Manticore and in one scoop there was Jason’s awesome ring in the scoop.  Several cheers rang out on the beach as I reunited Jason with his ring.  We had a few laughs and hugs and it was obvioud there vacation was going to be just fine.  Aloha to Jason & Keli!

Sharp Stakes in Santa Monica Back Yard…Found.

Michael called to see if I could help him find some buried stakes in his back yard. He had recently purchased his home, and was in the back yard with his girlfriend when she stepped on an old rusted stake that had been cut off just under the surface, rather than dug out, and it cut her foot up pretty bad. I let him know I could do the search, and we arranged a day for it.

I got to Michael’s house, and he lead me to where the first stake was found. It was partially dug up, and I reached to feel it, realizing it was as sharp as a razor. It was an old rusted fence stake that must have been hammered at least three feet into the ground. I realized that instead of digging them out the previous owner figured it would be much easier to just grind them off. Michael did not know if there were any more, but desperately wanted to know for the safety of anyone coming into his yard. After the search was complete, I had found 6 more dangerously sharp stakes to be removed. Needless to say, Michael was very relieved to know he could free his yard of these harmful objects.

Man’s Tungsten Wedding Band Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

On Saturday, June 15th at about 1:45 pm, I received a text message from Haley saying, “Hey I was wondering if you could help me. My husband lost his wedding band at Myrtle Beach while we were there. We know around what place he lost it on the beach, but we don’t have a metal detector and are actually home from vacation now.” I asked her to call me so I could get the details of when, where and how. During the phone call she told me the hotel they were staying at, the day it was lost and that it was lost in the dry sand. She was one of five calls I had for the day, but number two on the list due to the location. After a successful recovery and return in Wrightsville Beach NC I headed 80 plus miles to the address she gave me in Myrtle Beach, SC. She had also sent me a few pictures of the hotel. When I arrived, I started a grid search from the south end of the hotel working my way north. About halfway through the search I called her to verify about where behind the hotel they were sitting. She told me they were closer to the north end, which was good because I hadn’t gotten that far yet. Unfortunately, there was a lot of trash, coins and junk in the dry sand that took up a lot of extra time digging. Finally, I got a solid 10 VDI (visual display indication) on the Nox 800. Lower than what I expected for a tungsten ring but possible depending on the size of the ring. I dug the shallow target and bingo! I checked the engraving, both on the inside and outside and had a match from what Haley had told me. I took a quick picture and text it to her. She responded almost immediately saying “That’s it.” She called me and I got her address and told her I stick it in the mail Monday.

Fast forward to Thursday June 20th and I got notification through tracking that the ring was delivered to the PO Box. I text Haley and she was going to check and see if it showed up. She responded that she had gotten a yellow slip in the box, but she’d have to wait until the next day to pick it up. Today, Friday, she text me saying “I got the ring, and I will get a picture of me and Jake with it whenever he gets home from work.” A few hours later, I got a great picture of the happy couple holding Jacob’s ring.

Buried Sewer Clean-out’s…Located By Metal Detector!

As a member of THE RING FINDERS community, I often get calls for missing items such as; men’s and woman’s rings, earrings, cell phones, and keys.  I even have gotten a number of requests for missing or locating property pins.  I also get to meet a great deal of interesting personalities while on these requests for assistance.  Ken’s story is a little bit different and takes place on a large plot of land.  A few years earlier, he had trenched and ran new sewer lines with a clean-out every 100 feet.  Before burying these lines he capped the clean-outs with a big brass fitting.  The thought was that these large brass caps would be simple to locate with a metal detector should the need arise.

Fast forward to May of this year, Ken purchased a metal detector and fabricated a probe to rediscover his clean-outs.  After several attempts at locating them and hundreds of probes pushed into the ground, I received a request for assistance.

Our First attempts found highly mineralized ground and a lot of debris around our target area.  Usually, I would move to a smaller coil, ground balance, and turn up the target separation on my equinox, however in this application we needed depth to locate what was thought to have been 16″ to 18″ down.  We searched for 2 hours in the hot days sun before concluding our search.  Ken and I had a lot of great conversation but both were disappointed in the result.  I left questioning if I had the depth required to even see our target.

I stewed about the issues we had faced for a couple of days and decided I needed another shot.  I utilized the money I received from our previous search to supplement the purchase of a new larger coil.  I turned my target separation down to 1 to achieve maximum depth and power and on Saturday I returned to the field.  Ken had located some older photos that proved we were indeed in the right area.  We gave it another shot and we found a target and probed…nothing!  Found a target and probed…nothing!  Our third and best target we probed…it was an area we had probed during the previous search…suddenly Ken hit something!  We both smiled, hopeful that the search was indeed over.  We both grabbed a shovel and began to dig and at just about 20″ in depth we located the first brass clean-out cap.  I think we were both equal part excited and equal part relieved.

Afterwards, we marked out 100′ up hill in the direction the sewer pipes traveled and began again.

Thank you Ken!  I enjoyed our conversations and the opportunity to work on a different project than those I typically perform.  I learned some valuable knowledge and procured new equipment to continue helping others.

Man’s White Gold Wedding Band Lost in the Surf, Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

About 7:30pm on June19th I got a text message from Matt saying “Hi, I saw a post on the internet about finding lost rings on the beach? Not sure if I’m even reaching out to the correct person.” I called the number associated with the text and spoke to Matt. He told me that he was playing in the sand with the kids pretty close to the water line. When they left the beach, he noticed his wedding band was gone. He told me this happened sometime between one and three pm. Low tide for the day was 11:59am, so basically, he was right at low tide. We made arrangements to meet today, June 20th at 11 am. This would give me time to work the outgoing tide that was at 12:45pm.

We met at his resort at 11am and walked out on the beach. He pointed to the suspected area, and wouldn’t you know it, there’s a family of about 6 sitting right on top of where I needed to search. I started my grid search perpendicular to the beach and passed just to the north of the family. On my return line I stopped short of the family and made my turn. I hit an iffy target that I tried digging out of the hole. The signal wasn’t what I expected, and I couldn’t get it out of the hole. So, I left it alone for the time being. I turned around for my next line and noticed the family had moved further up the beach, I figure Matt said something to them, which was nice that they moved. About halfway back, I hit the signal again which wasn’t any better, but I was determined to get it out of the hole. About 3 scoops of wet sand and I had it out of the hole. I dumped the sand out on the beach, ran the coil over it and boom. Got the signal I was looking for. I spread the sand out with my foot and then used my fingers to move the sand. Saw it peeking out and picked it up. I washed it off and handed it to Matt. Matt’s wife Janet had been watching from their spot on the beach and quickly made her way to where we were. Matt and Janet were greatly relieved that Matt’s ring had been found. Vacation Saved!!!

Yellow Gold with Diamond Engagement Ring Lost Day after Proposal, Found and Returned Surfside Beach SC

About 4:30 pm on June 18th, I received a call from Caiden saying his fiancé had lost her engagement ring in the dry sand and asked if I could help. I got the address and was on my way. When I arrived, Caiden was waiting in the parking lot. We made our way out to the beach and out to the spot of the suspected ring lost. On the way-out Caiden told me he proposed to Savannah the night before. I got to meet Savannah, whose ring was the one that was lost. I was shown the area and then told that Savannah and Caiden had walked on a diagonal path up towards the dunes looking for shells. I searched the area where Savannah had been sitting and around the area where she shook out her towel with no success. We talked about the path they took, and I got both of their perspectives of where they walked. I started a diagonal grid search going from where they were sitting to where the beach access was from their condo. The ring was loose on Savannah’s finger, and she remembered it was on her finger where she was sitting. When she reached down to pick up a shell on their walk the ring was gone. It wasn’t a huge area to search but it was big enough. It took me awhile but when I was on my way back to their sitting area, I got a solid 10 on the NOX VDI (Visual Display Indicator). For a woman’s yellow gold ring, I was expecting a number closer to 13 or 14, but it all depends on the size and width of the ring. I dug the target and there it was. I decided to make a video and surprise Savannah and Caiden.

Lost BMW Car Key in the Sand at Manhattan Beach…Found and Returned

Roger lost his car key at the beach. After a futile attempt to find it, he found me on theringfinders.com web site, and asked if I could help. Well it was just that morning the key was lost, so I told him I would come right away, in order to increase the possibility of a recovery.

When I got to the beach Roger told me he had buried the key, so he could go in the water, and not have to worry someone might take it. The problem occurred when after being in the water, he came out grabbed his towel, and headed for his car. When he got there, it was then he realized that the key was still in the sand. I set up my equipment, and began my search. I made sure to cover all of the area Roger had pointed out to me, plus going further to be sure I did not miss it. After about 15 passes in my grid, having found numerous pieces of trash metal, I found the key, and held it up for Roger. He was happy to have it back so he could head off for work. So I really made his day.
