I received a call from a gentleman who explained his wife lost her heirloom platinum wedding ring set somewhere in their yard. They searched for a week using a metal detector and gave up any hope of finding the rings. They even contacted their insurance company to let them know they were likely going to have to file an insurance claim. His wife found TheRingFinders website and contacted me. Even though they were almost 100 miles from my house, I could tell how distraught they were so I responded to their house for the search.

LOST GOLD HEIRLOOM DIAMOND RING IN YORK, SC………FOUND!!!

Received a text yesterday from a young lady stating she had lost her grandmothers ring in her yard about a year ago while doing yard work, taking her gloves off to play with her dogs.

She also stated they were about to move and wanted me to come see if I could find it before they moved. I tell her I’ll be there at 8:00 am!

I get there at 8:00 am, we talked for a few mins to get the story and locations to search pointed out. She felt it was in the backyard, but mentioned a small area in the front where it might be.

I got my gear and searched the front first. Done in about 5 mins, it wasn’t there. We then move to the backyard. While she was putting her dogs away, I started walking towards the area she mentioned. As she’s walking back, past me and my very first signal, I get a signal not too deep. Using my digging tool, I see shiny heart with a diamond pop out of the dirt!

It was found! This is what I enjoy the most about being on this website! I don’t care how far I have to drive to help someone find their priceless lost items!

Family Crest Signet Ring Lost at Santa Monica or Venice Beach California

***  I was asked to help Coner to find his lost gold family crest ring in the sand at a Santa Monica Beach. He is an avid rugby player and has weekly beach rugby  tournaments near home.

I met him on the beach in Santa Monica. He showed me an area that the ring could be. Coner said he normally puts his watch and ring in his shoe that are not worn while playing. After the game he only had the watch in the shoe. He believed it was possible that he didn’t remove his ring before playing the game. I searched the whole area and could not find the ring.

A week later Coner called, telling me that he was reviewing videos of a practice he did a few days before the tournament. The video showed the ring on his finger. It actually showed the ring missing after he had passed the rugby ball. The video actually showed a black spot in the air that could be the ring.

I agreed to meet Coner at Venice beach, a mile from the original location. He sent me the video clip which made me feel we had a chance to find his ring. At least we could grid search the area to prove it wasn’t there.

This turned out to be worth the two trips across town. The Gold Ring was still in the sand after lost for more than a week. This search was much shorter than the first search because the video had a lifeguard tower 30 or 40 ft. from where the ring came off. Landmarks and videos do help to make searches successful.

Many Searches are unique. It’s important to ask the right questions when someone asks for help. Even though they are positive what and where the loss happened, they may not put you in the location of the loss.

First unsuccessful search was a mile from where the ring was eventually found a week later after Coner’s friend had reviewed the rugby practice video and he called me to get my opinion.

Kennedy and her family were spending some vacation time here in sunny Florida at an Airbnb when early Sunday morning her young 2 year old daughter decided to collect her mom’s rings and hide them throughout the house. When Kennedy woke up she found one of her diamond rings on the kitchen floor and the other one tucked snugly in a corner of her daughters bed blankets. And the diamond wedding ring was no where to be found. Kennedy was beginning to feel desperate knowing they only had a few more days of vacation before heading back home to Michigan. Later that evening she typed into Google “Help me find my ring” and up popped one of my successful ring recovery stories and she sent me a text asking for my help. House searches are not always easy and thankfully there were a lot less toys and cloths and furniture and shoes, etc to look through being as it is a vacation rental. I started in the kitchen and using a very strong flashlight I searched carefully making my way to the 5 bedrooms upstairs…checking bathrooms and closets, under beds and in blankets. An hour and a half later I made my way downstairs and began in the laundry room where there were piles of cloths and suitcases. Ten minutes later…BINGO! Being from out of town on vacation, I had a limited time to find my wedding ring after my toddler hid it in our Airbnb. Mike was so helpful and found it within two hours. I am so thankful!”

***  The beach sands are unforgiving if you drop a small piece of jewelry or keys in dry sand. Julia with with her husband, Marshal at a Santa Monica beach when she dropped her gold diamond wedding ring in the sand.

They had never experienced the frustration of trying to find a ring in dry sand. Two hours after the loss they gave up and called me. How to find a lost ring in a Ball Pit amusement center! (Fort Greene, Brooklyn)

I have to admit, I was a little bummed when I got the call to turn around because they had found their ring. This looked like it was going to be an epicly fun search! But hey, I’m thrilled for this newly engaged couple—nothing like a happy ending (even if it means I didn’t get to dive into a sea of plastic balls). I ended up just providing guidance and mental support…

From the pictures, you can see the ball pit in all its chaotic glory, including the bottom. It seems like there wasn’t much metal to interfere, so this might have been an easy find. Might have been. I guess I’ll never know… unless fate (or another slippery ring) leads me to another ball pit adventure.

The baby picture is just for fun! lol

On the bright side, Josh told me to keep my come-out fee, so at least my disappointment was softened by a little silver lining.

Lost Wedding Ring Rescued in the Snow in Luxemburg Casco

Frank lost a wedding ring…and not just any wedding ring. This ring belonged to his father. Frank’s father passed away when he was 10 years old, and his sister was seven. Neither of them at their age could comprehend that their dad was gone and not coming back. Their mother passed away in 2021 from cancer. She gave Frank his father’s wedding ring a week before she died. Inscribed inside the 18K gold ring was “Always with you, Love Mom and Dad”.

Frank was repairing a utility box on Monday, February 17th, 2025, damaged by a vehicle sliding off the snowy road into the ditch. He took off his left glove and hastily raised his arm so the sleeve of the jacket would come down on his arm. While he did this activity with some force, the ring popped off his finger and into the snow.

He looked for the ring on Monday and Tuesday without success. He went online and Googled “somebody that finds rings in Green Bay”. Fellow RingFinder, Tom Caldie’s name appeared at the top of the page. Frank reached out to him Tuesday evening. I spoke with Tom about the search on Tuesday evening and wished him luck finding the ring. Tom called me after the search on Wednesday evening and mentioned spending about three and a half hours searching without success. Tom gave Frank my contact information to see if I would give it a try since he was leaving town for the weekend.

Frank contacted me, and I agreed to meet at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the location where the ring was lost. Frank was not one to give up, especially for this ring. He was prepared to shovel snow with two of his friends using a large deep fryer used to boil turkeys in peanut oil, then let the snow melt, allowing the ring to appear.

Tom had left his detector with Frank to use, and his friend Drew was using it while Frank went back to his house and retrieve a lighter and propane tank to use the deep fryer. I had to change settings on my machine a few times due to electromagnetic interference from the underground power lines…lots of chatter, and it was very tough to hear solid tones. I searched in areas Tom had not detected and could easily see, looking at the snow that was not trampled down. I found the ring about 10 feet away at twelve o’clock or right in front of where Frank was standing when he raised his arm in about six inches of the fluffy white stuff. Frank and his other friend Jesse were unloading more equipment from the vehicle, ready to get some exercise. When they came near the utility box in the ditch, Drew and I planted the ring near a near the deep fryer. Frank was ecstatic the ring was found. **Loran had been sitting in her beach chair at Newport Beach when she dropped her diamond engagement ring in the sand. She was devastated because she has only had the ring for 5 months. Her fiancé , Barry had borrowed a beginner level metal detector and was not able to find the ring.

They called me after finding my contact information  on line with a Google search. I met them within 30 minutes and it was a successful recovery. Timing is important with these losses on the beach towel line as the beach cleaning machines maintain this area daily. Also entry level metal detectors do not work well with small items in the mineralized beach sand.

On my local beaches, I have to respond to calls as soon as possible.   Rings lost in back yards or private property can be recovered days or years later. The other day I found a diamond ring in a sofa that was lost 11 years ago.

Lost – Men’s Gold wedding band, DeLand, FL – FOUND!!!

Sunday evening, I got a text from Ron. He was working in his backyard and had lost his gold wedding ring.  Since it was on his property, we agreed to meet in the morning to look for it.

I arrived at Ron’s home, where beautiful oak trees, adorned with Spanish moss, dotted the property.  Ron took me to the back of the lot and showed me an area with some planting beds adjacent to a fence and storage area.  He said he felt it fly but searched and raked to no avail.

I fired up the Minelab Manticore and started the search at the East end of the planting beds.  There were lots of targets, so I decide to walk and cover the entire area without investigating any of the hits.  As I got between the West of the planting bed and the storage area…something caught my eye!  I was looking at the twinkling of the gold ring in the sun.

This ring representing twenty-six years of marriage was a sight find!  I gave the ring to the happy owner!  God is good.

Cellphone Lost on the Beach Saved from Beach Cleaning Machine .. Newport Beach, CA.

*** Phil called me early in the morning. He had lost his cellphone the night before in the sand. When he told me about the location of the loss my heart sank. The beaches in Newport are machine sifted almost daily. Especially the towel line where most the beach goers congregate.

I explained that our chances of finding it may be difficult because so much time had passed since the loss.  I was willing to give it a try if he could meet me at the location.

This time we were lucky. The beach king sifting machine had already passed through this section of the beach.  For some reason the tractor pulling the machine had swerved around a small section of the towel line  and it missed the cellphone. Amazing story that I could not believe.

Phil showed up a few minutes after I found the phone with my Minelab Manticore metal detector. The tractor and sifter tracks were still freshly visible in the sand. He was able to witness how close the sifting machine had missed his cellphone.

Another example that you can’t find it , if you don’t try.
