A Groom’s Lost Wedding Ring at Malibu West Beach Club
A late-night text of distress hit my phone after a wedding at Malibu West Beach Club near Zuma Beach. Amid post-ceremony joy, the groom’s wedding ring slipped off during beachside photoshoots—lost to the sandy expanse shared by Broad Beach and Point Dume Beach. The newlyweds searched desperately, but the ring stayed hidden, prompting a call to me, Dave MacDonald, for lost ring recovery in Malibu.
I got access to the club the next Sunday afternoon and launched a time-sensitive mission. Starting at the photo spots—think El Matador Beach vibes—I scoured with my Minelab Manticore, but found only bottle caps and coins. Time ticking, I shifted to the lifeguard tower area near Leo Carrillo State Beach territory. A strong signal finally buzzed near the tower—one scoop later, the groom’s ring nestled in my scoop, a triumph over the sands of Thornhill Broome Beach and beyond! The couple was honeymooning, so I promised to mail it—another win for lost ring recovery in Malibu.

Topsail Beach Ring Lost In Surf Found By Crystal Coast Ring Finders

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

Doug and his wife Kim were spending Father’s Day with their kids at Topsail Beach, NC.  Doug was in the surf using a boogie/body board and upon arrival back to their beach setup, Doug removed the tight wrist band of the boogie board.  It was shortly after that he noticed his wedding band was missing.  After the family searched the beach, Doug called Crystal Coast Ring Finders.  I headed their way as soon as possible.  Upon arrival, the tide had subsided and after searching around the beach chairs, a search began in the wet sand and surf.  Less than 10 minutes later, Doug’s wedding band gave a very strong signal and was pulled from the beach.  It was a hot day and I think they were very happy to finally leave the beach and possibly a meal.

Thank you Doug & Kim

June, who follows the Ring Finders South Jersey Facebook page, called me when John lost his wedding band. I was a few minutes south of Ocean City, New Jersey, when she called, so I was able to meet them quickly after the call. John told me that he took off the band and placed it on his lap. He realized that he had taken it off almost immediately after he stood up, but it had already dropped in the sand. After a few swings of the metal detector in the area, the ring was recovered. John and his family were able to enjoy the rest of the day on the beach!

Wedding Band Lost After Topsail Beach Swim Found By Crystal Coast Ring Finders

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

Justin and his family were spending the day at a Topsail Beach.  As they were enjoying the day and a beach swim, Justin began to dry his arms and hands on his beach towel.  He felt the ring fly off of his finger but didn’t see where it had landed.  He knew there must be some way to find a person who metal detects to come to his rescue.  Within minutes, he found The Ring Finders and called me to help him recover his ring of almost 9 years.   I told Justin I would load up and begin the 1:30 hour drive.  Upon arrival, and after a few brain fog moments of my own, I began to search the beach.  On about the 3 pass, Justin removed the sun shade that was in the path and  I hit another signal but wasn’t too sure it was Justin’s ring.   As I placed my detector down to further investigate the iffy signal, the Minelab Equinox 800 coil landed upon a strong 12 signal.  I looked up at Justin and said “I think that is your ring”  Sure enough from under the coil and out of the sand, I lifted up Justin’s wedding band.  He was thrilled because he was leaving to head back home very soon!

I was reading posts on a local social media page when I noticed that a person named Diana had posted that her son had lost his iPhone in the water at a local beach earlier in the day. I reached out to Diana who told me she was going to be back at the beach later that same day at low tide to do another search. I told her that I would meet her on site at 6:30pm to assist with the search which would be in knee deep rather than chest deep water at that time. When I arrived at Sunset Beach, I met Diana and several other members of her family including her son Gabriel who had lost the phone after only having it about two weeks! Diana showed me the area where they believed Gabriel may have lost his phone which included several hundred feet of beach out to about knee deep where a layer of sea grass began. I began my search down the shoreline from the starting point given to me by Diana by detecting the wet sand and very shallow water and I would move closer to the sea grass on my return sweep. I had not been searching for much longer that ten minutes when I heard several yells behind me. I turned around and saw Diana holding up Gabriel’s phone which she had found in the sea grass near my search start point! She told me that she had seen the phone in the clear water due to a reflection of sunlight. Diana gave the phone to Gabriel and he was overjoyed to see that it still worked even after soaking in the water all day. Later, Diana posted on social media that the phone had been found and gave me credit for helping with the phone search and a lot of positive publicity for what the Ring Finders do.

Diana, so happy you found Gabriel’s phone and thank you for all of your kind words!

Gold Wedding Band Lost From Emerald Isle Beach House Deck Found By Crystal Coast Ring Finders

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

David informed me he was on the raised deck putting on his sandals and noticed a sound like something dropped.  A very short time afterwards, he noticed his wedding band of 5 years was missing.  David and others searched sand below the deck but were unsuccessful in their attempt.  Andy who was in the group started an online search for a nearby metal detector to rent and found The Ring Finders.  Andy called me and I headed their way.  I arrived within an hour of the call and after gathering information and explaining my Minelab CTX-3030, I headed down the sandy area next to the home.  The ground was littered with various signals and even though I had my sensitivity turned way down, I was getting numerous target signals.  I guessed the approximate area the ring would have landed and turned on my Garrett Pro-Pointer AT for a more precise search of each item.  The very first item I pulled up from sand was David’s sparkling gold wedding ring

Gold Wedding Band Lost Off Atlantic, NC Dock Found In 3 Foot Waters

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

Dillon had just returned from a fishing trip and was in the process of cleaning today’s catch.  He decided it was best to move his wedding band to his middle finger for a better fit.  That’s when his ring slipped from his hands and bounced off of the dock into the murky waters down below.  Dillon told me he tried to locate his ring using a dive mask in the 3-4 foot waters but it wasn’t nearly clear enough to be successful.   After getting Dillon’s call, I loaded my gear and headed his way.  Dillon gave a very precise area to search and after clearing a large metal object his ring was lifted from the muddy water below.

Heirloom Sentimental Rings Lost In Hampsted Found by Crystal Coast Ring Finders

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

June was spending time in her son & daughter-in-law’s backyard.  They were just checking out the variety of plants around the trees towards the back of the property.  June was pulling a few weeds and vines in the process.  Shortly afterwards, she noticed 3 rings were missing.  These rings were all over 100 years old and belonged to her and her late husband’s parents.  These rings held so much meaning for June.

I was expecting a backyard with more grass than landscaping & trees.  I first brought my Equinox 800 with the 15″ coil.  This proved to be too sensitive to the items under the pine straw and the metal fence surrounding the backyard.  I switched over to my CTX-3030 and 11″ coil.  It also gave me some problems but was easier to maneuver through the items growing in the pine straw.  As I searched the first bush June said she pulled weeds, I ran into interference with the fence being so close to the bush but also noticed a solid tone just a bit away from the fence.  It was then I decided to search this bush for anything around or inside it’s branches.  My Garrett pinpointer sounded off about 10″ above the ground in the middle of the bush and you can guess the rest as I removed the pine straw and leaves from the bush, all 3 of Junes rings were also found.  I take pride in exploring all options when hunting for lost items and this was a first for me to find lost rings above the ground.

June was very emotionally moved when the news of her rings being located.  It was a very moving moment.  It was very nice to talk to June and her family during my brief visit.

Heartbroken Girl’s Fear Is Replaced With Tears Of Joy After Lost Ring Is Found

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

EMERALD ISLE, NC

Katelyn was relaxing, just before sunset, on the beach with her fiancée, Brianna.  Katelyn has placed the first ring anyone has ever gave her on a bag they brought along.  She thought it was put in the bag.  After they left, they realized the ring was missing.  Katelyn sent a plea for help and discovered, through social media, Crystal Coast Ring Finder (The Ring Finders member).

I had a very good understanding of the area and knew exactly where to begin my search.  Katelyn’s very sentimental ring was the first target that sent an alert to my Minelab CTX-3030.  I made arrangements to meet Katelyn after she got off work.

Katelyn has had a rough run of luck lately with numerous hardships and relocating to North Carolina from Pennsylvania.  This ring was part of her strength.  She mentioned online “So when I lost it at the beach I lost a part of myself too.”  I was very happy to bring the ring back to her so the ring can still be part of future stories and hopefully a very happy future!

Congratulations Katelyn & Brianna!   They are considering an Autumn wedding
