Lost Wedding Ring Found in Wooster, Ohio!

On Tuesday, October 10th I received a text from Rick in Wooster, Ohio who said he found my name on The Ring Finders. He said he believed he lost his wedding ring while planting garlic in his garden on Sunday and asked me to give him a call, if I thought I could help. I called him that afternoon, he gave me all the details and we set up a time the next day for me to come find his ring. On Wednesday, when we pulled into Rick’s driveway, he was ready for us! We exchanged introductions as we pulled out our gear and within a few minutes we were heading across the lawn to his garden. He showed us exactly which rows of his garden he had been working on when he believed he lost the ring and we got to work! Rick stood off to the side of the garden as we worked our way down the rows. The first few hits were bits of scrap metal, which I held up for Rick to see before dropping in my pouch and then, as I turned around to start down the third row, BAM! There it was, that perfect signal! I bent down and plucked Rick’s ring from the soil and held it out to him exclaiming, “and here it is!” Rick was so excited and couldn’t believe how quickly we found it. (The entire hunt took less than five minutes!) As I handed him his ring, he asked if he could give me hug. “Absolutely!”, I said. We chatted for a few minutes, snapped a few pictures and he told us we’d gotten him out of the doghouse! As metal detectorists, these are the moments we live for!

I received a call from Tony who lost his wedding ring somewhere outside the front of his house. It was raining outside and as he neared the front door, his size 13.5 tungsten carbide ring slid off and disappeared somewhere to the left of the concrete porch area.

Tony knew of my metal detecting skills and small business called METAL DETECTING ADVENTURES INC because we have been friends for nearly 50 years. We went to elementary school, junior high and high school together. Tony is also known as the famous Chef Tony who owns two very prominent restaurants in Bethesda, Maryland (Chef Tony’s Fresh Seafood Restaurant) and Rockville, Maryland (Chef Tony’s Seafood at Amalfi). Everyone across town knows Tony and or heard of his amazing cuisines! If you live in the Delmarva area, dining at Chef Tony’s restaurants is a must!

Tony’s wife Sonia and their son went out looking for the lost ring sometime the next day or two. Unfortunately all of their search efforts came up empty handed. At first, Sonia thought about buying a metal detector, but then Tony mentioned my services and expertise and the idea was settled to contact me about the loss of the ring.

After just a few minutes of metal detecting a long side the concrete porch foundation, search in the soft ground, and checking in and around multiple flower pots, I was able to successfully recover Tony’s very special sentimental wedding band!

Tony was not surprised at the quick ring recovery just as I am never surprised how tasty and satisfying it is to dine at Chef Tony’s restaurants!

Finding a Bride’s Heirloom Earring in Calgary

Gold Wedding Ring Recovered – Chapel Hill!

I got a text from a very nice woman in Chapel Hill, saying that she had lost her wedding ring and asked if I could help her find it. She had parked her car at the neighbor’s house (long story), and walked through a short section of woods to get to her house.

I scoured the woods and areas where she said she’d been, but no ring. I decided to expand the search area in all four directions and after another 20 minutes or so, found the ring well hidden under some leaves. Not entirely sure how the ring got to where I found it, because she said she had stayed on the path (the ring was a good 8-10 ft away);

I returned the ring to her, but wasn’t quite prepared for the joy she showed when I gave her the ring. A little teary eyed, she explained that it was a family heirloom and she’d been sick over the loss. To say that she was happy to have it back on her finger is an understatement.

Glad to be able to get the ring back where it belongs! Another Happy Ending!

Metal Detecting Minnesota Ring Recovery Lost ring Found.

Keith, his family and friends were out for a pontoon ride on a local lake in Minnesota. They decide to stop at an island that boasted a sandy and shallow water swim/play area. He was in the water about waist deep playing football with the kids and playing with the pup. They finished up and boarded the pontoon when he noticed his wedding band was missing from his finger. They got back in the water and searched to no avail. Fast forward a day a two and Keith’s buddy Jeff was searching the internet on ways to find the ring, when he came across the “theringfinders” website. Jeff told Keith about the website, and he called me right away. We discussed the best way to go about the search and decided scuba diving, “though it was pretty shallow water” would be the best chance of recovery. We decided to do a grid search using a 20-foot rope that Keith and Jeff held across the water, and I scuba/searched under the rope. As I finished one spot, they would move 6 feet and we kept this up for an hour or so until I got that awesome tone of Gold on my metal detector. Congrats on getting your ring back!!! Glad I could help out; it was nice meeting both of you. Thanks for the help on the grid search, it worked out perfectly.

Lost White Gold Engagement Ring-Found!

I received a text from Leslie on Monday afternoon concerning a lost engagement ring.  She had found me with an internet search.  As it was late in the day I told her I could come the next day, becase it was about a two hour drive from where I’m located.  I got to the site at around 11:00 AM Central Time.   The couple had been pulling a boat and pulled off into the parking lot of an old convience store that had been converted into another use.  As they got out to adjust the boat straps, (the ring had been placed in the shallow tray under the door handle), the ring somehow went flying.  They looked on the pavement and didn’t see it, but there was a grass strip between the pavement and a shallow ditch, then more grass just beyond the ditch.  I started my search in the grass strip, then the ditch, then just beyond the ditch.  Being this had been a convience store at one time I expected a lot of metal trash in the ground, and I was right.  She did have a metal detector that had been her grandfather’s, but was overwhelmed by the abundance of metal trash.  I searched slowly and methodically while listening for the white gold tone and looking for the target ID I typically get for white gold rings.  After searching the entire area, no ring.  Of course I found several pieces of foil.  I turned off my CTX detector, and was explaing the process, where I search the most likely area first, then expand the search area if the ring is not found, (a visual scan of the pavement was next).  At that time someone from the building, I’ll call him “Tom”, came out and we explained what we were doing, and that a visual scan of the pavement was next.  He struck out towards the highway, and in around ten seconds I heard him call out, “is this it?”  He had found it around 10-12 feet from the edge of a busy highway!  The ring was intact, but had some minor damage where it looked as though it had been run over and stuck in the tire treads before dropping off just before the highway.  In a visual search, the more eyes the better.  All in all, another successful search!

Mattapoisett Harbor Beach Golden Band Rescue

As I was getting out of the water yesterday when I received  a text message from Chet. It said that he had lost his wedding band the day before while swimming his boat back to shore.  He also new the general area, and mentioned, at low tide it should be fairly low water. He wanted to know if I could help with locating it for him. I told him that I certainly will try.

We made plans to go around an hour before low tide. I met Chet, and asked a few more questions like, is it White, Yellow, Gold or Platinum? Any makings inside, the usual. Was the water mucky in that area? Hopefully no one had stepped on it, and sent it to deep to locate.

We walked down to the area, I had him go out and stand in the spot he had it last and stop. I made my way out to him, first signal was an old Penny, next signal was blasting , I knew I had it rite away. I looked in the scoop and said does that look familiar ? He couldn’t believe it. Less than five minutes, and with perfect timing, it was back on his finger. Congratulations Chet and Thanks for calling The Ring Finders… Leighton

LOST GOLD RING IN CARY, NC………… FOUND!!!!

Met a guy that came to my house to inspect our Crawlspace and we got to talking about metal detecting after he saw my office.
He said an elderly lady had lost a ring in her yard while doing yard work (2 years prior) and wanted to reach out to her to see if she’d allow me to come and try and find it.
Well today was the day. I got off work and shot straight to her house and met Brian there too.
I walked back to the back yard with them, and it was very overgrown with ivy. She had a small area cleaned out and that was the area she had lost the ring.
I go to get my machine, turn it on and walk back to the area. I swing 4 swings LEFT RIGHT LEFT, RIGHT!!! Wait what was that to my RIGHT? VDI 64 first single BOOM found her ring! It wasn’t that deep at all!
She was beyond overjoyed and crying after I found it!

White Gold Wedding/Engagement Band Set-Found!

Ryan contacted me several weeks ago about his wife’s white gold wedding/engagement band set she had lost in a grassy area of the apartments where they lived in Chattanooga.  Because of his busy work schedule he had a difficult time getting the search arranged.  I think he had actually purchased an off-the-shelf metal detector at a local store, but was apparently overwhelmed with the large amounts of metallic trash in the ground.  We finally managed to arrange a search on June 9th.  I arrived at the location at 7:15 PM on June 9th.  I started my search as soon as I got the story from him, because we didn’t have much daylight left.  Around 35 minutes later I found the engagement band portion totally hidden below the grass around four feet from the base of a large tree.  It took me right at an hour more to find the wedding band portion, and it was about twenty feet from where I found the other half.  It ended up being in an area outside of the original search zone.  The grass had been cut, so maybe that’s how it ended up being over there.  This portion of the ring was in full view of anyone walikg by, so it’s amazing nobody had seen it.
